Epic recipe. Perfect for the current cost of living crisis. Why pay for 4 prawns at a restaurant, when you feed the whole family (6+) for the same price.
Thanks HaloodieFoodie... 🙌
The prices at restaurants have been going up steadily over the last 3 years, and SHOT UP DRAMATICALLY in the last 5 months in the United States. It costs about $60 - $100 for a decent Indian/Pakistani dinner for 2 at a good restaurant, compared to about $40 3 years ago. Thank you for this recipe. I'll try it out :) and "bhunning" might as well become another English word now like countless other words from south asia
Thanks for nice sharing
Looks yummy.
Definitely trying this!
Love it! I think prawn curries are my favourite! I want one now! Looking forward to your bhunning video. Thank you.
Thank you 😊
Always look forward to your recipes🥰
Love it! I'll be making this later this week.
Looks delicious 😋
Looks FAB thanks !!
Yummy 😋 luv prawns
hey shamsa! I've made so many of your curries and they taste bloody gorgeous !! Thank you for helping me make authentic south Asian foods
Hey 👋 Sarah, thank.you so much and you're very welcome 😊👍
As salaam aleikum Shaz
We have 2 local Indians here near Basinstoke In Hampshire and they both give you 5 king prawns 🍤 in whatever dish you order…..
Colin
Colin, its honesty not worth paying for 5 prawns when 3 packets cost the same amount as the curry. Thanks 😊
Wow wow wow! Made this tonight and it is so amazing. Thank you for sharing!
Aww that is awesome, glad you enjoyed it 😊
Brilliant. Thank you so much for sharing. Looks amazing!
You're welcome 😊
Looks lovely defo gonna give it a whirl.
I’ve made this for dinner tonight and it’s perfect! Thank you 🎉❤
You're welcome Natalie. Thank you
WOW, you`ve got my vote, Im cooking it tonight, Thank you
Oh my word i am gonna try this! Man it looks delicious and your taste test, has my mouth salivating!
thank you, looks great
It was Jed! 😊🖐
Wonderful! Try open frying the onions in the beginning, Add tomatoes and chopped/slit green chilles with the prawns. You forgot to mention that oil should start separating, which means that masala is actually cooked. Lastly, I would add vinegar instead of water at the last stage to make it tangy. That is how I cook when I make it with noodles. Otherwise, sky is the limit, you can cook it with coconut milk, add some cheese ... basically that 6-8 minutes is your time window, after that the prawns start tasting like a rubber.
Looks fabulous, great video! Mark.
Many thanks!👍
I cooked this yesterday OMG best bhuna I've ever had, thank you so much for posting. I love your recipes, they are the best.
My pleasure 😊 glad you like it.
Thanks Shamza, another winner 💜
MashaALLAH very nice show
Made this last night, minus the green chilli and only used kashmiri chilli powder as my kids can't tolerate spicy food. It was still delicious. Thank you for the detailed recipe 😀 keep them coming! X
My pleasure 😊thank you for sharing this with me!
I love king prawns and like you said at the restaurants you’re luck to get 5 or 6 prawns. I cooked this recipe tonight for dinner and it was so easy to do. The end product was a lovely king prawn Bhuna with awesome flavours. Thank you some much for this recipe. I ❤️ you 🙂🙏
Thank you so much 😊🙌
Thanks for your recipes. I absolutely love Desi homestyle 'curries' over BIR style.
They just taste so much better! Thanks 😊
Made your Prawn Bhuna today delicious thank you
looks really tasty and delicious
Thank you it was!
Absolutely delicious
Thank you 😊
Awesome meal ; great taste ; love it
Thank you 😊
Mouthwatering I'm making this soon!
Enjoy when you do
I've made it a few times now, it is easy and tastes great. I've now bought Kashmiri chili powder to add the extra authentic flavour
Awesome Shamza another recipe right up my street.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Geoff 😊
MashAllah
Looks delicious I’m going to try this recipe 😊
A feast for the eyes as well as the palate. Thank you
So true, you know i like going to restaurants and also want to get food delivered but always get disappointed for the high price as well as not tasting any good. I just want to keep on cooking at home by myself, delicious food for my family of four for the price of one.😀
😍😍😍😍love your cooking
Thanks
Hi, love your channel, spot on! It’s just me and the long haired General at home so if cooking for 2, do I just half the ingredients? Would this effect the taste?
Looks fantastic. I think a lot of takeaways would use blended plum tomatoes and/or tomato puree instead of fresh diced tomato for the sauce. I think the fresh tomato really makes a difference. Makes it much fresher I think and more appealing colour.
Totally, fresh everything makes a difference to any dish but saying that using tinned tomatoes won't really alter the taste of the end product, it will probably just give it a lovely deep orangey red colour.
Love the way you use everyday ingredients like the G&G frozen blocks that you can get from almost ANY supermarket these days (which don't taste any different either, btw). The bhuna stage ('phuna' as you say it - which is it??) seems to be THE key, and THE most important part of the cooking phase....I look forward to your video of this process - (no-one seems to spend anytime on this, but it's SO important to how your curry ends up as just , OK...or really GREAT!)
Your Dhansak btw, is now my GO TO version of it - my missus' (and my son's) fav curry of ALL time, and she/he won't have any other version of it, other than yours...Cheers Shamza 👍😉
got to agree m8, the fry/reduce repeat worked for me too, makes a whole lotta difference to a dish!
Thank you so much 🙏 and its Bhunning. It's the most crucial stage of the cook.
So happy that you now have a go to Dhansak recipe loved by the family 👍
Brilliant recipe and looks delicious. Love cooking and eating Indian food. Have Kashmiri chilli powder but would love to know the brand Shamza that you recommend.
Thanks. I normally use the East End brand as that's what the local Asian shop stocks near me but to be fair any brand it good enough.
@@MyLittleKitchenRecipes Cheers Shamza. Had bought one of the internet and it was a bit too spicy.
💯 i was missing my mum and cane across this thankyou soo much
Aww bless. Enjoy and thank you
Appreciate it thank-you so much though for taking the time out to make what you make ❤️
@@MyLittleKitchenRecipes the thing is I tried cooking it like you do and I think should have reduced the heat wish I lived near you so I could order the food lol have a lovely day ❤️
Absolutely loving your videos my friend, can you point me in the right direction for that Pan you use, I have nothing like it and believe it would help me in making Indian dishes massively, Thanks so much, Keep er lit Gal. Chris
Hi Chris, thank you for your kind words. This particular pan is a Queenwest trading belly pot which I picked up from Homesense but Tkmax also do them too. See if you're local one has any.
Try to make if possible 'kadu ghosht' salun n 'Ghia torri ghosht' saalan in desi style!!!
Will definitely be sharing this recipe soon.
Keep up the amazing work. You’ll have 1 million subscribers in no time
Hope so! 😊👍
If ever I go to an Indian restaurant I'm so boring I always have Prawn Madras or Ceylon. Cant resist them. Sadly, the, 'under generous', amount of Prawns are often overcooked, especially in takeaways. Yours looks to die for and I cant wait to cook this. I like to sprinkle a bit of sugar in...🤔..Thank you Shamza great vid as always 🥰
Thank you and you're welcome 😊
Love your channel 💜💞💕 .I was wondering if you make Prawn Puri and could do a video? X
Noted
Should it be bay or tej patta, how would it affect the flavour?
What a delicious recipe! Could you use this particular recipe for a prawn on puri starter dish ?
Yes, definitely I don't see why not
Wonderful and I'm just about to make this, maybe add some lemon juice, or slices. Shamza one quick question as it bugs me, is non stick a bad idea for punning? I currently use stainless but fancy a new curry pan
I've been waiting for this recipe! Quick question. Is this 700g frozen ? Or after it's defrosted? Won't frozen weigh more than defrosted? Sorry if it's a silly question but I just want to get the measurements right thank you 😊
Hi, sorry for the late reply, it's 700g frozen.
wonderful cooking but if u fry onion till golden brown color then ur every dish will b more tasty and flavourful love from Pakistan ❤️
Interesting you use G masale for garnish. I always thought you had to temper it in oil
Garam masala is always used at the end of the cook and never normally added to hot oil to temper.
😍🥰💕😘❤️😋👌👍
Just made a batch for later tonight where I will carry on from when you add the prawns, one question my masala looks deep red whereas yours is more yellow in colour, not sure how that came about as I followed your recipe to the letter. Cannot wait to taste it later, thanks.
Sometimes the spices vary in colour due to different branding, the final product will have tasted the sane though. 😊🙌
Hi what Masala spice did you put in all I hear is Grr masala😊 thanks.
She used grrrr masala
you can never have too many prawns, can i come to your house for tea?? ive just made a tandoori chicken jalfrazi, going to make the chipati's shortly
Do you add the cardamons whole or do you split them ?
Always whole Martin as you don't want to be biting on the seeds as they've a really strong flavour which isn't liked by many.
@@MyLittleKitchenRecipes thank you Shamza 👍
Pair it with chapati rotis?
What can I use if I don’t have Kashmiri chilli powder please ?
Hi T, if you can get to an Asian supermarket ask them for degi mirch, which is very similar. Don't forget to subscribe and turn your notifications on for all my new videos.
@@MyLittleKitchenRecipes thanks so much
Nice, better to do salmon version
Shamsa a prawn curry in Los Angeles runs $18 on the low end and $32 on the high end.
Didn’t see the spices go in, so I’ll add mine after the tomatoes.
Add them with your ginger and garlic 👍
She put them in at 4:55 ish
hi they went in with the garlic an ginger at around 4:55. Thanks :)
A request please - paratha on an electric cooker
Hi Mimi, I've got a video which is on a ceramic hob - hopefully this will help. I'll link it below 🙌
th-cam.com/video/_qWDdfd4qRQ/w-d-xo.html
I made this dish two days ago and shared it with friends over dinner with the vegetable Pulao (also your recipe). I can’t believe how good and flavourful it was. I landed up surprising myself. It was a bit spicier the next day but I am not complaining!
Thanks for sharing. Glad it was enjoyed 😊👍
What is garam masala, really? I
I've used cherry tomatoes don't don't I would use them again xx
Hi could you make this dish using pork thigh or Chinese friend duck breast?
I shouldn't see why not. Although I have never tried it. Give it a go Tina and let me know too 👍😊
@@MyLittleKitchenRecipes well OK thanks. Bit I would like to see your resipie.
I still dont understand why it costs more to order prawns in a restaraunt than to order lamb or beef and 5hen be given 4 prawns ... ?
Your gona close down the restuarants
How
Lol 🙌
You are Comely
You re very pretty
Thanks for reply
What on earth is (phunning)
I get asked this all the time, so i did a video on the art of bhunning which can be seen here : th-cam.com/video/c37K75zbAFY/w-d-xo.html
Your plate is not big enough! ⚠️😁😁
Haha you said! NEVER... !! 🙌
Please try to condense your videos
Prawns vastly over cooked ; shrunk to 1/2 size & turned to rubber.
Should go in right at the end.
Otherwise a nice recipe.
Too much talking at the start
Lol I definitely do talk 🤣 but I have to explain why this video is cost effective especially with the COL going through the roof.
@@MyLittleKitchenRecipes sorry if that was rude just wanted to view the recipe
Hey.. not at all. Totally get you. I do try to limit the starts but some recipes require a lil more explanation than other's... 😊
we get 5 normally in any takeaway dish we order, and they are so expensive and mostly gravy - will def be trying this!! off to @farmfoods to get some king prawns.
I hope ths was enjoyed 😊
