Yeah I think the contrast is really interesting. I think it's especially noteworthy that while Octo Expansion was darker than the other campaigns, it still opened with loud, punchy music and fast paced visuals. Side Order, on the other hand, is calm, slow, and chilling. The character doesn't even move for the whole trailer, they just... stare. The music is soft and unnerving. I think there will be some interesting parallels to Octo Expansion for sure, but I'm really interested to see what makes it new and different

I think OE's still darker because we know that everyone technically would've survived; the Octolings survived being mammalian, and so would everyone else. All things considered, I think we would've just gotten fuzzier sharks. However, OE? The fuzzy ooze doesn't take away someone's autonomy -- it takes away their aquatic traits. Which, of course, is still fucked up, but compared to OE, who's sanitization is canonically corpse goo (as opposed to the fuzzy ooze just being a product of Mr. Grizz's fur accidentally mixing with the crystals), and that the sanitization itself takes away autonomy and literal life itself... it's still darker. Not to mention the subtext of dedf1sh and what her songs (particularly #8 regret) really mean. Mr. Grizz isn't a revengeful villain. You're thinking of Octavio -- and even then, Octavio isn't quite as vengeful as the translation makes him out to be. Mr. Grizz's issue was that he couldn't accept that his old home was gone. You can tell from his dialogue and from the secret scrolls that Mr. Grizz doesn't really hold any animosity towards Inklings, Octolings, jellyfish, and the like -- he just wanted to 'go home.' It was incredibly selfish, yes, but he wasn't a hateful villain by any means. Neither is the entirety of Alterna; it's a bittersweet story. On one hand, it teaches us to move forward through Mr. Grizz; on the other hand, we learn that despite everything, humanity still lives on through those squids and octopuses that ingested those crystals. Our hopes, love, and pain lives on through them. Alterna is a depressing story with a hopeful undertone; Octo Expansion is a depressing story with a dark undertone.

Like Bandit mentioned, it probably isn't anything story related because she has those glasses in their normal band art. I think a brainwashing plot with Off the Hook is pretty unlikely (at least I hope it is lol)
I personally love this dlc, both waves of it. As someone who lovedddd splatoon 1 but never had internet to do anything in the lobby or online this is a calling card for me, though I see this is underwhelming as part of it. Wave 2 seems amazing from what we’ve seen, very focused on death as you pointed out but still amazing. Overall this seems great and for me it’s a “just take my money already” situation all be it a little underwhelming. Great video cloud!
Yeah I have nothing to complain about regarding wave 1, it just feels really weird to me lol And then Side Order has the potential to be my favorite thing ever. We'll just have to see!
Well, lets keep in mind, its possible not everything has been shown off yet. Of course they don't want to go overboard as it comes to certain multiplayer linked content limiting some people over others, but its still possible there may be more interactive features that have not been shown yet that you can do amidst the plaza. As for the studio with callie and Marie, they are still the squid sisters, it might be their general studio at this point as the actual news studio has moved 2 times already. leaving that building open for other purposes, Marie afterall tending to do late night talks in a sound studio as it is for instance.

In addition to the theory of the character being 8, the color in the eyes is just a really unsaturated version of orange. Orange was the color of 8s eyes in octo expansion reveal trailer.
I always felt like there’s a psychological theme of the whole thing rather than literal lol I always find it weird that people think the character is Marina but younger because that would imply that Octolings can whitewash themselves, which doesn’t fly with a lot of people, especially poc. Not even the lighting explanation can save it.
Not to mention that we've literally seen what Marina looked like when she was younger. Her hair was darker, shorter, and she still had teal highlights. This is clearly meant to be an older version of Eight, or someone completely different with the same hairstyle.
i'm just re-iterating basically what someone else said but i kinda agree, but, this highly resembles coral bleaching and that maybe this is what happens when a area get's abandoned, we know the splatlands had a huge surge in population after the finalfest and apparently the splatoon 1 lobby was a "ghost town" during splatoon 2, so maybe this is what a "ghost town" looks like, with a little side of order mixed in.
I've seen this idea going around too, but it just seems a little silly to me. Yes, Splatoon's world is filled with marine life, but I don't think a lack of people walking around would immediately turn it into a wasteland (and where did the coral come from?) Not to mention, it's not like LITERALLY every citizen of Inkopolis moved to Splatsville. It's still a city with a thriving population (proven by the Splatoon 1 Plaza DLC)
If main Inkopolis became a ghost town, thus turning it into a dead wasteland, that wouldn't compute with Inkopolis being perfectly nice and habitable in Splatoon 3 like in Splatoon 1

It took me a second to realize why the splatoon series wasn't rated all ages... despite that i've been playing since i was 5 years old. Ideas that are brought up like extinction of humanity, extinction of earth, death, loneliness, reflection, it would be way too much for 5 year old me if i could understand everything they were saying.
Theory: The Inkopolis square ruins we're in are the *actual* Inkopolis square. The Inkopolis Square we get in the Side Order is the *real* one, while the one in the other part of the DLC is a copy of it.
It’s refreshing to see more people come out and admit they didn’t like return of the mammalians. It definitely lowered my expectations for this DLC but with 8 back, maybe I’ll be cautiously optimistic!
Yeah, there were a few great moments in ROTM, but a lot of the levels were just really forgettable. Hopefully we see a lot more new gameplay ideas in this campaign
I love what ROTM did with Deep Cut and the soundtrack. On the other hand, there was a lot of plot holes (which I'm kind of hoping this DLC fixes), and I speak for everyone when I say that playing as an Octoling in ROTM felt... awkward.

Does the Fuzzy Ooze brainwash them as well as turn them into mammals? I don't see why it would, but then, why would they disobey Octavio? Why would they fight an Octoling agent? It makes even less sense for the fuzzy Octolings that don't get turned into fuzz balls unlike the player Octoling. It feels like a massive element of the worldbuilding is completely missing (which is especially confusing after Octo Expansion)

@@bessieburnet9816 Are they feral, though? We're never explicitly told what Fuzzy Ooze does, and it's weird that it acts differently for the player and the Octarians. In Octo Expansion, Cuttlefish made a big deal about how it was weird for Octolings to be fighting Octolings. Regardless of "who shot first," they're intelligent creatures and (under normal circumstances) would be able to talk it out. They DON'T talk it out because Sanitized Octolings, lacking a sense of individuality, are essentially under the control of Tartar. We never got an equivalent explanation for the mammals, though, so it stands out as something missing to me.
i think it will be about 8 going back and regaining her memories from before she lost them in octo expansion which could explain how dark some of the shots are because of how dark octoling life is
Ngl the surreal, void-like spaces of Splatoon's story mode levels always gave me a sense of existential dread, and the concept art seen here tells me this is gonna take that feeling to a whole new fuckin' level, simultaneously terrified and excited!

I probably think that the final Splatfest (Chaos vs Order) in Splatoon 2 represents this to the Octoling/Agent 8 shown in the clip. I just thought of what makes sense to me. What if order won the Splatfest? the dlc might resemble this. I mean it’s probably called “side order” for a reason y’know? Plus, I think the tower is probably warning the octoling/Agent 8 to not fall to up above because we know that falling off a building, can cause to break bones, or other painful things in your body. I think that’s why Captain Cuttlefish said “after the fall” because 8 lost her memory. That’s my opinion on the new side order dlc. You might not agree but that’s just what I think, and I’m also very curious for the side order dlc!

to be honest, order winning may not have changed too much, buildings may be less chaotic, a more modernized uniform formation of decor and that as well. Grizzco may have been altered lightly as well. In the end the Salmanoids would still be the chaos against inkling kind's new form of order. though of course, the 3 idols would have been different entirely. Then again though. alot of the chaos inspired lore scrolls would also have shifted. If anything order could have also played a part in making inkling weaponry more scientific in nature. Captain 3 may have also had a mildly different outfit, perhaps a gently recrafted version of cuttlefish's shirt, or in the sense touched up. Alot of possibilities, but who knows. One way or another, this dlc is meant to give a light scratch to that itch on those who voted for team order. the question from me though is if the word side order is a string, or if theres meant to be a pause between. is it a sideorder? or 'side' order in the sense of team order so to speak?

I guess a few things here and there being changed is more logical than whatever I had in mind. About the dlc, as I said, "side order" isn't the real name I think. Other languages call it "tower of order" so I don't know if this title actually gives any info about the dlc. I'm pretty sure "side order" just mean "side of order" here but, again, I don't think that actually means anything.
@@Ember_Fox Another youtuber I recently watched actually pointed out that there are alot of elevators. so verymuch so it is likely a tower, with elevators being the method of travel between levels/areas. They also mentioned something interesting I didn't realize. Black ink. Wich there is alot of seeping out of areas in those images. has me rather curious.

I have a theory that at the end of splatoon 2 when chaos won a the migration to the splatland happened mainly only chaos team went leaving inkopolis square in the control of team order thus side order and the white is not really there but in 8 mind the white represents control of order this explains marinas concerned look and why Pearl is chill Pearl may get captured while 8 hillucinate. The cloning could be a new species created to be perfect and 8 is one of the test subjects trapped in her mind Captain 3 could be involved because of there connection I hope people read hope this be a good story
I mean, alternate realities are a completely unprecedented concept for the world of Splatoon. It's not impossible, but there isn't really any evidence to imply something like that exists. The singleplayer campaigns in Splatoon typically relate back to the rest of the game to make the worldbuilding cohesive (which is why Mr. Grizz doesn't work as an antagonist imo, but that's a whole other conversation). Point is, setting the singleplayer in a different reality would be kind of weird unless it somehow ended up impacting the normal "Chaos" reality
Side Order looks very interesting, and I think it would be really cool if the protagonist is in fact Agent 8. My first thought about it is, if it's Agent 8, maybe it's in their head, like how Inner Agent 3 was? I was also thinking, what if it's a kind of alternate universe? One where Team Order wins and something goes horribly wrong, affecting not just the Square but the entirety of Inkopolis?
I think the story taking place inside of Agent 8’s mind would be really cool, and a lot of the symbolism going on in the Square would make a lot of sense. I wonder how that would be communicated to the player, though. Is Eight dreaming? Were they placed in a simulation? There are so many directions they could take it and I’m really interested to see what they do
@@TheCosmicCloud Curiously, they could also be exploring parts of the deepsea metro that have not been fully completed. overrun or direlect in nature. projects abandoned by Tartar, or possibly an experiment nolonger contained by the AI due to it's destruction, getting loose either on inkopolis or in the recreated chambers of the metro. the curious parts about all of this though is the imagery of certain structures that look less modern in nature in some of those quick flash images in the trailer. The implied presence of a missing inktank due to them removing it though is a curious presence though. A sign this may indeed be in their mind so to speak. a pshycological detatchment from reality, either due to trauma or effects of being captured by Tartar. but then again that path may make it a bit hard for them to introduce a villain into the mix. would be difficult for them afterall to make a dlc in this fashion and not have a final boss so to speak.
@@warprifter8772 That is a possibility, but this place looks very different from the Metro, and Splatoon stories have never used the same setting twice before. As much as I loved Octo Expansion's story, I think I would prefer they moved on to either a new antagonist or maybe even just a story where Eight needs to escape from a hidden danger or somehow overcome something within themselves to move on. Honestly I don't know if the missing inktank really means anything. They could have just taken it off so that we could get a better look at the character's outfit for the trailer. I don't think there NEEDS to be a final boss (Commander Tartar wasn't even a "fight" per se), but it is hard to know what kind of threat there could be when we know so little about what is going on. Whatever it is I hope it's as cool as all the stuff we're imaging lol
@@TheCosmicCloud as the video said, the place where slide order will take place could be a replica of the square, so technically it wouldn't be the sane location. Also, a campaign never took place in the tower before so even if it is the real square they wouldn't be using the same location
Something I find really interesting is that the picture of the person staring at an elevator shaft at 0:35 is actually an Inkling... or some sort of one. At first, I thought it was an Octoling simply because the way their hair is curled is the same way an Octoling's is, but their ears are pointed; not to mention that their suckers aren't on the outside. However, oddly enough, they don't have suckers on the inside as well. They don't have suckers *period.* What the hell? Of course, it could just be an artstyle choice, but it's still kind of odd to me. I dunno, I'm probably just looking too much into it, but I think it's really funky that there's a suckerless Inkling with Octarian-esque hair.
I honestly have a feeling this won't be important simply because the concept art for Splatoon games tends to take a lot of artistic liberties when it comes to the character designs. For all we know, it could be a new character or a new species of octopus, but it could also be nothing. My guess is that it's nothing, but it's hard to say for sure

When on the eShop page to preorder the Expansion Pass, the description of Side Order reads as follows: “See what has become of Inkopolis Square, the central area featured in the Splatoon 2 game!” This line explicitly confirms that it’s not a replica, it’s the actual Square from the second game.
Admittedly I hadn’t seen that line before making this video. Though, I feel like that could be a red herring. Obviously it LOOKS like Inkopolis Square, but I don’t understand how the sky and landscape would be completely different when it’s so close to the Plaza. I still don’t think it’s the actual Square we’re seeing here

Like another comment about Pearl’s glasses they just don’t seem talked about. In my opinion I think from the glint it might be pearl brainwashed and marina isn’t shown with glasses. I think marina may have brainwashed pearl into enforcing order into inkopolis square. Another thing based on the observation or theory about it being about 8’s past it might be when 8 was in the Octarian military and maybe they made replica cities about what the surface is like. Maybe 8 is going back to perhaps demolish all remnants of Octarian military even though this is very unlikely considering dj Octavio teamed with new 3 to take down grizz

.....Don't get me wrong, Side Order loos awesome. But there's one thing that is still unknown to me: Where's agent 4? We haven't seen them since splatoon 2's campaign. Not to mention, they were also super connected to Inkopolis plaza, since that's where their debut was. And since this is the end of the saga, where are they? Im hoping they'll be some sort of villain, kinda like agent 3 (maybe not controlled though, maybe being...forgotten?), but the fact is that no where in this trailer was 4...and 4 and 8 are cannon friends...I'm hoping we'll see them later
Honestly. It's Eight, Their hair style and Eye color are the exact same minus the color of the hair. If it isn't, Nintendo gave us Misleading info, and honestly I'll be really pissed if it isn't her, cause I would feel like they lied to us about it. If it were a brand new octoling they would have used one of the new hairstyles or new ones they are probably planning to implement later on, Not Eight's signiture hairstyle as everysingle main character in this game each have different hairstyles. Except for this Octoling which I personally believe it's definetly Eight.
That IS the actual inkopolis square, it's not a what if or inside 8's mind, in the oficial splatoon site says that its Inkopolis square after splatoon 2, in the time of splatoon 3

That's true, but due to obvious real world issues I don't think an established character would ever change their skin color. Pretty sure that's only a part of Inkling lore to explain character customization within canon and reference the ability of real life squids to change color

I guess "bad" is subjective, but I actually tend to like when the story gets darker and uses heavier themes! The disturbing parts of Splatoon's world add a lot of interesting depth to the series and are some of my favorite things to discover
@@TheCosmicCloud The first thing that brought me into splatoon as it came to interest was that first song in one of the trailers. Splattack. Took my view and I was like huh neat. But the major thing that peaked my interest as splatoon as a franchise entirely, was the lore scrolls. It made me curious, theorising on so many possibilities. So many secrets yet so many things hidden in plain view. I sadly never had a Wii U... though honestly even if I had the choice now I wouldn't have been willing to pay that much for one game :P based on the last few scrolls of the 3rd game, its implied little judd has a potential presence for future presence in the game. Either in the next title, or a coming dlc. As someone stated before, he is the last remaining villain of the splatoon world. mostly due to his obsessive nature of wanting to be on the pedestal that judd has. It would be curious if he has a role in this, though unlikely they'd impliment such a thing this early on with him. Especially concidering his presence in salmonrun and the big runs may lead to him actively trying to escalate the conflict to make himself a figurehead that everyone looks to as the salmonoid invading crisis slowly gets worse. One of the later dlc may give light to the source of the rays of light in the sky. I theorise it may be something warming the icecaps again. bringing the sealevel higher, giving the salmanoids easier access to inkopolis as time passes. either due to them having an interest in revenge against inkling kind, or quite literally little Judd using something to escelate the situation.

I personally hope he doesn't become a full on villain simply because I think that would be kind of... lame, but he could possibly work under the influence of a true antagonist or something along those lines. I haven't thought much about the Big Run Seven Rings, but it would be nice to get a real explanation for that! I'm not sure Side Order is where we would get that answer, but I guess it's hard to say at this point. Rising sea levels ARE what led to the Great Turf War, after all, so it's not unlikely to think that it could lead to further conflict, be it between Inklings and Octolings, Salmonids, or some other group.

As for little judd, he isn't entirely evil persay, but his goals put thought of his actions behind him. he cares not about judd, is even scheeming to quite literally overtake him, possibly through murder as indicated by one of the scrolls. He is a spiteful thing, he wants the position of power that Judd has, feels that noone understands him completely because he is a literal replica of Judd that has had no history prior. He desires to gain a foothold, to have a major purpose, wants to get out of Judd's shadow. The mostlikely way this will occur, is through Grizzco. As salmanoids invade the city more and more, Grizzco will become a more and more important feature of inkling society as a whole. Little judd realizing this, has of course taken the reigns after grizz 'dissapeared' from the stage. Little Judd is a go getter, he takes advantages that he sees emmediately. Unfortunately, he may mostlikely turn into a villain based on all these traits. However, he still has the possibility of quite easily turning things around and having a moment of redemption. he is a troubled soul that seeks to gain a foothold and a purpose similar to Judd, he wants to be the focus of attention, the matriarch of respect like Judd is. He is obsessive in this way, but not impossible to recover and see things differently. His major issue is his frustration clouding him. As shown by his fur becoming more frizzled.

Which, of course, is still fucked up, but compared to OE, who's sanitization is canonically corpse goo (as opposed to the fuzzy ooze just being a product of Mr. Grizz's fur accidentally mixing with the crystals), and that the sanitization itself takes away autonomy and literal life itself... it's still darker. Not to mention the subtext of dedf1sh and what her songs (particularly #8 regret) really mean.
Mr. Grizz isn't a revengeful villain. You're thinking of Octavio -- and even then, Octavio isn't quite as vengeful as the translation makes him out to be. Mr. Grizz's issue was that he couldn't accept that his old home was gone. You can tell from his dialogue and from the secret scrolls that Mr. Grizz doesn't really hold any animosity towards Inklings, Octolings, jellyfish, and the like -- he just wanted to 'go home.' It was incredibly selfish, yes, but he wasn't a hateful villain by any means. Neither is the entirety of Alterna; it's a bittersweet story. On one hand, it teaches us to move forward through Mr. Grizz; on the other hand, we learn that despite everything, humanity still lives on through those squids and octopuses that ingested those crystals. Our hopes, love, and pain lives on through them. Alterna is a depressing story with a hopeful undertone; Octo Expansion is a depressing story with a dark undertone.

I personally love this dlc, both waves of it. As someone who lovedddd splatoon 1 but never had internet to do anything in the lobby or online this is a calling card for me, though I see this is underwhelming as part of it. Wave 2 seems amazing from what we’ve seen, very focused on death as you pointed out but still amazing. Overall this seems great and for me it’s a “just take my money already” situation all be it a little underwhelming. Great video cloud!

Well, lets keep in mind, its possible not everything has been shown off yet. Of course they don't want to go overboard as it comes to certain multiplayer linked content limiting some people over others, but its still possible there may be more interactive features that have not been shown yet that you can do amidst the plaza.
As for the studio with callie and Marie, they are still the squid sisters, it might be their general studio at this point as the actual news studio has moved 2 times already. leaving that building open for other purposes, Marie afterall tending to do late night talks in a sound studio as it is for instance.

In addition to the theory of the character being 8, the color in the eyes is just a really unsaturated version of orange. Orange was the color of 8s eyes in octo expansion reveal trailer.

I always find it weird that people think the character is Marina but younger because that would imply that Octolings can whitewash themselves, which doesn’t fly with a lot of people, especially poc. Not even the lighting explanation can save it.
Not to mention that we've literally seen what Marina looked like when she was younger. Her hair was darker, shorter, and she still had teal highlights. This is clearly meant to be an older version of Eight, or someone completely different with the same hairstyle.
Actually, the free character customisation is canon. Inklings and Octolings can change their skin and eye colour at will.
i'm just re-iterating basically what someone else said but i kinda agree, but, this highly resembles coral bleaching and that maybe this is what happens when a area get's abandoned, we know the splatlands had a huge surge in population after the finalfest and apparently the splatoon 1 lobby was a "ghost town" during splatoon 2, so maybe this is what a "ghost town" looks like, with a little side of order mixed in.
I've seen this idea going around too, but it just seems a little silly to me. Yes, Splatoon's world is filled with marine life, but I don't think a lack of people walking around would immediately turn it into a wasteland (and where did the coral come from?)
Not to mention, it's not like LITERALLY every citizen of Inkopolis moved to Splatsville. It's still a city with a thriving population (proven by the Splatoon 1 Plaza DLC)
If main Inkopolis became a ghost town, thus turning it into a dead wasteland, that wouldn't compute with Inkopolis being perfectly nice and habitable in Splatoon 3 like in Splatoon 1

Theory: The Inkopolis square ruins we're in are the *actual* Inkopolis square. The Inkopolis Square we get in the Side Order is the *real* one, while the one in the other part of the DLC is a copy of it.

It’s refreshing to see more people come out and admit they didn’t like return of the mammalians. It definitely lowered my expectations for this DLC but with 8 back, maybe I’ll be cautiously optimistic!
Yeah, there were a few great moments in ROTM, but a lot of the levels were just really forgettable. Hopefully we see a lot more new gameplay ideas in this campaign
I love what ROTM did with Deep Cut and the soundtrack. On the other hand, there was a lot of plot holes (which I'm kind of hoping this DLC fixes), and I speak for everyone when I say that playing as an Octoling in ROTM felt... awkward.

Does the Fuzzy Ooze brainwash them as well as turn them into mammals? I don't see why it would, but then, why would they disobey Octavio? Why would they fight an Octoling agent?
It makes even less sense for the fuzzy Octolings that don't get turned into fuzz balls unlike the player Octoling. It feels like a massive element of the worldbuilding is completely missing (which is especially confusing after Octo Expansion)

In Octo Expansion, Cuttlefish made a big deal about how it was weird for Octolings to be fighting Octolings. Regardless of "who shot first," they're intelligent creatures and (under normal circumstances) would be able to talk it out. They DON'T talk it out because Sanitized Octolings, lacking a sense of individuality, are essentially under the control of Tartar.
We never got an equivalent explanation for the mammals, though, so it stands out as something missing to me.
i think it will be about 8 going back and regaining her memories from before she lost them in octo expansion which could explain how dark some of the shots are because of how dark octoling life is

I probably think that the final Splatfest (Chaos vs Order) in Splatoon 2 represents this to the Octoling/Agent 8 shown in the clip. I just thought of what makes sense to me. What if order won the Splatfest? the dlc might resemble this. I mean it’s probably called “side order” for a reason y’know? Plus, I think the tower is probably warning the octoling/Agent 8 to not fall to up above because we know that falling off a building, can cause to break bones, or other painful things in your body. I think that’s why Captain Cuttlefish said “after the fall” because 8 lost her memory. That’s my opinion on the new side order dlc. You might not agree but that’s just what I think, and I’m also very curious for the side order dlc!

Not get me wrong, I love the fact the final Splatfest in each game determines what happens in the next one but I can't help but wonder how different Splatoon 3 and this dlc would be if order had won instead.
Also, completely unrelated to rest of this comment but here's a fun fact for you: the dlc is actually called "tower of order" instead which, in my opinion, sounds way cooler.
to be honest, order winning may not have changed too much, buildings may be less chaotic, a more modernized uniform formation of decor and that as well. Grizzco may have been altered lightly as well. In the end the Salmanoids would still be the chaos against inkling kind's new form of order. though of course, the 3 idols would have been different entirely.
Then again though. alot of the chaos inspired lore scrolls would also have shifted. If anything order could have also played a part in making inkling weaponry more scientific in nature. Captain 3 may have also had a mildly different outfit, perhaps a gently recrafted version of cuttlefish's shirt, or in the sense touched up. Alot of possibilities, but who knows.
One way or another, this dlc is meant to give a light scratch to that itch on those who voted for team order. the question from me though is if the word side order is a string, or if theres meant to be a pause between. is it a sideorder? or 'side' order in the sense of team order so to speak?

About the dlc, as I said, "side order" isn't the real name I think. Other languages call it "tower of order" so I don't know if this title actually gives any info about the dlc. I'm pretty sure "side order" just mean "side of order" here but, again, I don't think that actually means anything.
@@Ember_Fox Another youtuber I recently watched actually pointed out that there are alot of elevators. so verymuch so it is likely a tower, with elevators being the method of travel between levels/areas.
They also mentioned something interesting I didn't realize. Black ink. Wich there is alot of seeping out of areas in those images. has me rather curious.

I have a theory that at the end of splatoon 2 when chaos won a the migration to the splatland happened mainly only chaos team went leaving inkopolis square in the control of team order thus side order and the white is not really there but in 8 mind the white represents control of order this explains marinas concerned look and why Pearl is chill Pearl may get captured while 8 hillucinate. The cloning could be a new species created to be perfect and 8 is one of the test subjects trapped in her mind

I mean, alternate realities are a completely unprecedented concept for the world of Splatoon. It's not impossible, but there isn't really any evidence to imply something like that exists.
The singleplayer campaigns in Splatoon typically relate back to the rest of the game to make the worldbuilding cohesive (which is why Mr. Grizz doesn't work as an antagonist imo, but that's a whole other conversation).
Point is, setting the singleplayer in a different reality would be kind of weird unless it somehow ended up impacting the normal "Chaos" reality

My first thought about it is, if it's Agent 8, maybe it's in their head, like how Inner Agent 3 was?
I was also thinking, what if it's a kind of alternate universe? One where Team Order wins and something goes horribly wrong, affecting not just the Square but the entirety of Inkopolis?
I think the story taking place inside of Agent 8’s mind would be really cool, and a lot of the symbolism going on in the Square would make a lot of sense. I wonder how that would be communicated to the player, though. Is Eight dreaming? Were they placed in a simulation?
There are so many directions they could take it and I’m really interested to see what they do
@@TheCosmicCloud Curiously, they could also be exploring parts of the deepsea metro that have not been fully completed. overrun or direlect in nature. projects abandoned by Tartar, or possibly an experiment nolonger contained by the AI due to it's destruction, getting loose either on inkopolis or in the recreated chambers of the metro. the curious parts about all of this though is the imagery of certain structures that look less modern in nature in some of those quick flash images in the trailer.
The implied presence of a missing inktank due to them removing it though is a curious presence though. A sign this may indeed be in their mind so to speak. a pshycological detatchment from reality, either due to trauma or effects of being captured by Tartar. but then again that path may make it a bit hard for them to introduce a villain into the mix. would be difficult for them afterall to make a dlc in this fashion and not have a final boss so to speak.

@@warprifter8772 That is a possibility, but this place looks very different from the Metro, and Splatoon stories have never used the same setting twice before. As much as I loved Octo Expansion's story, I think I would prefer they moved on to either a new antagonist or maybe even just a story where Eight needs to escape from a hidden danger or somehow overcome something within themselves to move on.

@@TheCosmicCloud as the video said, the place where slide order will take place could be a replica of the square, so technically it wouldn't be the sane location. Also, a campaign never took place in the tower before so even if it is the real square they wouldn't be using the same location
Something I find really interesting is that the picture of the person staring at an elevator shaft at 0:35 is actually an Inkling... or some sort of one. At first, I thought it was an Octoling simply because the way their hair is curled is the same way an Octoling's is, but their ears are pointed; not to mention that their suckers aren't on the outside. However, oddly enough, they don't have suckers on the inside as well. They don't have suckers *period.* What the hell? Of course, it could just be an artstyle choice, but it's still kind of odd to me.
I dunno, I'm probably just looking too much into it, but I think it's really funky that there's a suckerless Inkling with Octarian-esque hair.
I honestly have a feeling this won't be important simply because the concept art for Splatoon games tends to take a lot of artistic liberties when it comes to the character designs.
For all we know, it could be a new character or a new species of octopus, but it could also be nothing. My guess is that it's nothing, but it's hard to say for sure

When on the eShop page to preorder the Expansion Pass, the description of Side Order reads as follows: “See what has become of Inkopolis Square, the central area featured in the Splatoon 2 game!” This line explicitly confirms that it’s not a replica, it’s the actual Square from the second game.
Admittedly I hadn’t seen that line before making this video. Though, I feel like that could be a red herring.

I think marina may have brainwashed pearl into enforcing order into inkopolis square. Another thing based on the observation or theory about it being about 8’s past it might be when 8 was in the Octarian military and maybe they made replica cities about what the surface is like. .....Don't get me wrong, Side Order loos awesome. But there's one thing that is still unknown to me: Where's agent 4? We haven't seen them since splatoon 2's campaign. Not to mention, they were also super connected to Inkopolis plaza, since that's where their debut was. And since this is the end of the saga, where are they? I guess "bad" is subjective, but I actually tend to like when the story gets darker and uses heavier themes! The disturbing parts of Splatoon's world add a lot of interesting depth to the series and are some of my favorite things to discover
@@TheCosmicCloud The first thing that brought me into splatoon as it came to interest was that first song in one of the trailers. Splattack. Took my view and I was like huh neat. But the major thing that peaked my interest as splatoon as a franchise entirely, was the lore scrolls. It made me curious, theorising on so many possibilities. So many secrets yet so many things hidden in plain view. I sadly never had a Wii U... though honestly even if I had the choice now I wouldn't have been willing to pay that much for one game :P
based on the last few scrolls of the 3rd game, its implied little judd has a potential presence for future presence in the game. Either in the next title, or a coming dlc. As someone stated before, he is the last remaining villain of the splatoon world. mostly due to his obsessive nature of wanting to be on the pedestal that judd has. It would be curious if he has a role in this, though unlikely they'd impliment such a thing this early on with him.
Especially concidering his presence in salmonrun and the big runs may lead to him actively trying to escalate the conflict to make himself a figurehead that everyone looks to as the salmonoid invading crisis slowly gets worse. One of the later dlc may give light to the source of the rays of light in the sky. I theorise it may be something warming the icecaps again. bringing the sealevel higher, giving the salmanoids easier access to inkopolis as time passes. either due to them having an interest in revenge against inkling kind, or quite literally little Judd using something to escelate the situation.

I haven't thought much about the Big Run Seven Rings, but it would be nice to get a real explanation for that! I'm not sure Side Order is where we would get that answer, but I guess it's hard to say at this point. Rising sea levels ARE what led to the Great Turf War, after all, so it's not unlikely to think that it could lead to further conflict, be it between Inklings and Octolings, Salmonids, or some other group.

As for little judd, he isn't entirely evil persay, but his goals put thought of his actions behind him. he cares not about judd, is even scheeming to quite literally overtake him, possibly through murder as indicated by one of the scrolls. He is a spiteful thing, he wants the position of power that Judd has, feels that noone understands him completely because he is a literal replica of Judd that has had no history prior.
He desires to gain a foothold, to have a major purpose, wants to get out of Judd's shadow. The mostlikely way this will occur, is through Grizzco. As salmanoids invade the city more and more, Grizzco will become a more and more important feature of inkling society as a whole. Little judd realizing this, has of course taken the reigns after grizz 'dissapeared' from the stage. Little Judd is a go getter, he takes advantages that he sees emmediately. Unfortunately, he may mostlikely turn into a villain based on all these traits. However, he still has the possibility of quite easily turning things around and having a moment of redemption. he is a troubled soul that seeks to gain a foothold and a purpose similar to Judd, he wants to be the focus of attention, the matriarch of respect like Judd is. He is obsessive in this way, but not impossible to recover and see things differently. His major issue is his frustration clouding him. As shown by his fur becoming more frizzled.
