    I’ve had 3-4 insurance claims in my 10 years of driving as an adult. All of them were involving hitting animals in the dead of night or at the buttcrack of dawn because I live in the middle of nowhere and have to leave early for work. The insurance people were treating me like the most sus skeezeball after the second one, so how this dude gets away with that much involving other actual humans and a child in their car is unfathomable to me.

Even if she did have to go away, usually someone in the family will be able to keep the kid before they put him in the system. I'd like to think her husband was the "mastermind" behind most of these bone head scams and maybe without his influence since he'll be locked away, she won't be doing crap like this. Then again, she's now the sole earner of the family so I'm sure she'll be struggling to make ends meet and could easily fall back into running scams to do that. The kids are always the ones that lose the most in these situations. Really sad.

      Insurance adjuster here. The reason it probably went unnoticed for a long time was because it involved multiple insurance companies that do not have means to communicate with each other outside of a mutual database called ISO. Not all companies utilize ISO though and these database searches are usually not ran unless there's a specific reason to do so. So if they caused a collision with a Statefarm driver, and then the next one they hit a Progressive driver, and then Geico so on so forth, there's really no way for any of these companies individually to make a connection.
      In fact how I imagine an investigation was started was they've been doing this for so long that eventually they probably racked up 4-5 claims against one company with all similar circumstances which then prompted that company to do their own SIU investigation which then led to them reporting it to the NICB.

After he posted a video of him purposefully getting hit by a truck he cut off on a freeway onramp and then pulling a bat on the driver, people in the comments threatened to report him to the police. I think that's how the sheriffs originally found out about him.

Beyond that? Ive had 4 windshield claims over my lifetime, where debris cracked them on the road and one cracked from excessive heat. Not once was my insurance raised because they were all literal random acts of nature and the providers were absolutely cool, 9:06 but I still felt bad having to call each one in.

  • @chris_007

    17 insurance claims is wild. There should be a list that every insurance company shares that blacklists people with insane amounts of insurance claims either by driver’s license, license plates, home address, name, or all of these things. That way one quick search would have stopped these false claims awhile ago and avoided the ones that came after it. And hopefully anyone involved with these blacklisted people are compensated if they were put at fault.

    • @ZZ-os4nb
      @ZZ-os4nb ปีที่แล้ว +9

      There kinda is. It's called ISO. The caveat though is 1, not all insurance companies subscribe to it. It's a paid service that most major companies will pay for access but it's not uncommon for smaller companies to see it as an unneeded expense. And 2, even though this database exists it still requires individual adjusters to actually be prompted for whatever reason to run the search in the first place.
      So if they intentionally cause an accident with one driver who has insurance company A, and then the next person has insurance company B, and then the next C, so on so forth, when that claim comes in to each of those individual companies, they are only seeing this person's name once and while if they ran an ISO search they might see that they've had suspiciously similar accidents against drivers of other companies, the problem is, if they are only seeing that one claim come into their company they probably are not going to run a search as one claim on it's own in a vacuum won't set off any red flags from an adjuster.

    In the UK, when someone is pulling off so many car insurance scams like this, there’s an insurance claims agent involved as well. They help to smooth things along with the insurance company, otherwise they would (you’d think) get sus over so money claims coming from one couple. Nobody’s that unlucky.

      You can’t pull this of in the Uk anymore. There’s now a central database that logs every accident against a persons name and NI number insurers and solicitors must check when someone begins a claim
