My favourite thing about these builds, next to the building of course is the snarky sarcastic voice over, it's like a teenage David Attenborough.

Oh, I was hoping this was going to be a live stream of the 6 hour build. I honestly could watch Ben build and ramble for 6 hours and be happy. I bet his ramblings get weirder and weirder as the hours progress. PLEASE do a live stream marathon build.

I was humbled down to earth when I watched the 12 and 9 already. Can't wait to see the result.
I've tried a 12 once on a weekend as it inspired me to try and it really took me ~18 (10,5 hrs 1st day and 7,5 hrs 2nd day) and a hell lot of coffee, taurin, guarana to keep going. I've lost time making stupid mistakes and swearing and doing recovery because at one point you get tired and lose focus. It felt different and more exhausting than a normal day as on a normal day you tend to work on many different things and not such in a rush and watching the clock all the time.
So whatever the result Respect in advance.

In case you haven’t figured out the “audio glitch” you noticed and commented on in your voice over, that’s what lapel mics do any time there’s a loud pop, slap, clap, or slam of something. That abrupt loud noise causes that glitch you’re hearing. I learned that when making a video with my handgun - each time I released the slide that loud noise would briefly glitch out the audio.
    Cheers!

Where do I go to find comparisons between drill, router bits, and endmills? I spend my days obsessing about cutting stainless steels and high temp alloys. Woods pose a quandary to me. High speed steel, cobalt, and carbide would all work so far as I can tell. Edge prep, helix angles flute depth, web thickness... it all gets thrown out the window with wood. I could make some recommendations, but I suspect this subject has been covered.

would you not have to worry about warping? from what i know after working some types of wood they will warp or can warp afterwards, meaning between different stages you have to let them rest. and ive seen this on real old properly dried wood, so dampness wasnt the explanation.
also you should totally try a jatobo build aka Brazilian cheery wood, even though its not actually cherry wood. however its got a super nice color too it and it ages really well. you probably wouldnt need any sort of coloring to the finish just a straight up lacquer to protect it. it also gets deeper and deeper in color and becomes a nice deep red with age, if memory serves its sunlight reactive naturally and will darken pretty quick.

I AGREE ABOUT THE TRITON ROUTERS, THEY HAVE ALL THE BELLS AND WHISTLES, WHY DIDN'T THEY PUT A LIGHT IN THEM? I USE MY LITTLE DEWALT LAMINATE TRIMMER FOR ROUTING CAVITIES BECAUSE ITS THE ONLY ROUTER I HAVE WITH A LIGHT AND IT WAS HUNDREDS LESS THAN ALL MY OTHER BIG ROUTERS. I DO USE THE BIG TRITONS IN MONE OF MY ROUTER TABLES AND MY OVERHEAD PIN ROUTER. I LOVE HOW THEY COME ALREADY SET UP FOR TABLE ROUTING. AND THE FENCE SYSTEMS ON THEM ARE THE BEST ON THE MARKET, EVEN BETTER THAN FESTOOL'S.

I'm not a guitar builder (yet) but love working with wood. I have a question. Is the groove always the same width for the truss rods? If it is, couldn't you make neck template with a tang that would fit into the routed groove so when you traced the neck outline onto the piece of wood, that it would automatically be on center?

Question on your comments on the build type. you said it would be a "proper guitar, no bolt ons, etc." As there are many reputable companies that build bolt- on neck instruments and stand by them (I have no dog in the fight, simply curious as to your answer), why are "bolt- on" necks, for you, considered out of bound? @bmxriderforlife1234 6 ปีที่แล้ว

nah gibson takes over an hour to build a guitar, but probably not by much and via the work of many employee's however from what i know you can also get customs made by hand by one luthier from that to finish so time frame is probably different depending on each instrument.
also im betting he could probably do a 3hr build from a body blank, having to cut one out and sand it and everything in that time frame might make it just out of reach for a solo project.
