Similar situation with the Lexus IS350 F-Sport. Very minor changes, and their engine has stayed the same at 311 HP which puts it in the same league as the Audi A5 and the Kia Stinger GT-Line as far as performance goes. A positive for the Q50 Red Sport is that at least it has 400 HP. If only the IS 350 had that power, it would be a slam dunk.
I really do not know what is holding them up. They are behind like 2 gens of interior. This is like an early 2010s luxury interior. Even the new Honda Civic and Accord look more worth the money interior and tech wise. This outdated will and probably has been pushing away potential buyers when they show up to the dealership and see such an outdated interior. I think the exterior can still sort of pass but come on. All they need to do is update that outdated looking screen and give it a digital gauge cluster.
I bought a Q50 Red Sport in 2018. Even back then it was a little dated, especially the interior. But I fell in love with the engine. But now 5 years later it's absolutely outrageous that it's unchanged.
I leased a 2019 Q50 signature for $390 a month with my buyout being $24,000 ! Obviously prices went crazy so I bought out the car. The dealer did everything they could to get me to not buy out that car lol. With only 15k miles on it now I can still make money on it. I slapped a JB4 on it and it runs 12.60 in the 1/4 mile. I would honestly go get an M340 if I could get one say $500 a month. Last time I went to BMW they wanted a stupid $1050 a month to lease one lol
its still a great looking car. I have a 2021 RS and had a 2018 before, got both brand new. It still looks like a brand new car. Other brands' designs are crap and the cars look horrible. The Q50 is a good looking car. Shame they never made the 500hp version, and it should have cooled seats.
Same thing here. These critics don’t understand the aftermarket following for this engine and platform. Lol… they’re buying it new . Who does that with the VR platform?

I have an iPhone in my pocket, an ultra 2 watch; modern tvs at home, etc etc so I don’t need a tablet in my car too lol. There will always be better but my car is paid off and brings me from point A to point B just like it did 4 years ago.
I still think the exterior design of the q50 is one of the best looking on the road in its price point. But, that interior is very, very long overdue for a change. I personally think it is ridiculous that they haven't at least refreshed the interior and given it a new look like they have in most of the other infiniti models as of late. My dad worls at nissan and had a q50 back in like 2015 or 2016, and the interior looked exactly the same. If they just update the interior and give it a nice screen with some ambient lighting, a nice HUD, and at least ventilated front seats with heated rear seats, then it would be one of the cars I'd be looking at buying in the future.
@@SteelCyclone1 absolutely. I do love the look of the headlights and tailights, but they can absolutely look better and certainly need a technical upgrade as well. And yea, the digital cluster i would certainly clump in with the entire entire needing an update. There's not much on the interior i wouldn't want updated.
I used to own 2017 3.0T Premium before I switched to the 2017 Q60 3.Ot. This car really need a refresh badly. You nailed it Joe, everything else except few refresh inside the cabin and out will make this car a really good bargain.
Fantastic Joe! Looks like a Black Opal Edition! Great car! I bought one back in May and drove it a couple thousand miles. Sold it to buy a DBX. Fun car! Thanks for bringing it to us.
I owned 2004 G35x for 8 years most reliable car ever owned. Then sold my 2012 G37xS for KIA Stinger instead buying Red sport. Genesis is everything Infiniti should have been!
No one mentioning this is the black Opal edition? That is why the paint shifts from black to green to purple depending how the light hits it. Only 50 produced like this for North America
M35 was voted by CR two years in a row as the best midsized luxury vehicle in the U.S. I know, I drove one for 250,000 miles and found a low mileage used one later and added another 100,000 miles to that one. It was the high water mark for Infiniti.
Always worth watching, even if I'm not really interested in buying the vehicle being reviewed. Joe is very knowledgeable, provides history and always comes across honest, not a biased fanboy will give a Zonk when he feels it's warranted 👍🏽👊🏽
Infiniti has always made great looking cars with solid performance, I feel like their cars don’t get enough credit due to the interiors, but it is really bad. I have a 2015 q60 and a 2017 C7 Z51 and the q60 to me is the perfect daily with its sporty styling and solid performance.
A very beautiful green on this car. I don't think they have to change much when the design is very good. Shocking that cars like this are now 62k. That used to be a lot of money. Now that's what a full size pickup costs when you get a deal...
I bought the less expensive Q50 with 300hp AWD. They were discounting because everyone is buying SUVs and trucks. It has everything I want including a CD. The look looks modern to me. Didn’t realize it was over ten years old. Even being that old it has all the safety features. 3:56
Great review. I have a 2020 Q50 Silver Sport and I love it! Plenty fast yet comfy with plenty of room for the family. Truly feels like a 4 door sports car.
Wow. This brings me to tears, i drove a 22’ q60 rs last year, got totaled bc a chick hit me lol. Fbo and tuned by specialtyz :( the car drove lovely and the sounds it made were heavenly. Sad to see no changes were made. On the bright side, i am now driving a g82 comp. God is good 🙏
I used to have a 2015 q50s with the VQ37 and loved it, now I’ve got the current refresh QX80 and love it as well. Might try to convince the wife to switch her A4 for a red sport
I bought a 2016 Q50 Red Sport and they're still the same in 2023. Nice car but it's so dated. Traded mine in 2021 for a 2022 GV70 3.5 Sport Prestige, like going from the stone age to tomorrow as far as tech. Genesis is going to kill off Infiniti, Nissan needs to get out of the parts bin and modernize.
I have had a Nissan 370X and an Infiniti G37XS both of which had the same engine and transmission including the paddle shifters which are NOT plastic. They are magnesium alloy. This is why they seem so light and yet strong. The car hasn't changed much, because it is a good design and was out front of the pack when it hit the market. In fact there have been changes almost every year. They are often subtle, as you said it is a good looking car and a timeless design. My 2013 G37 had a shiny black plastic grill. Now everyone has one. The 370 Z s rev matching transmission was completely novel and cutting edge in 2009. Now lots of high end sports cars have them, but Nissan was first. IT had a carbon fiber driveshaft, even today who else has a carbon fiber driveshaft. The split screens are also out ahead of the competition, as safety studies have shown that the single screens contribute to driver distraction with all of the menu diving and screen switching. Also they are integrated into the interior design instead of just being a tablet stuck to the dash. Is that what you call "modern" nyou can have that crap that involves NO effort on the part of the car company and people thing of as modern. I remember looking at one expensive sports car with round vents that some car critic hailed as modern design. Those things were in my father's 1976 Cutlaa. You can even go back to the "50's and find them. LOL. Infifniti's are driver focused cars Those screens communicate information quickly and clearly so the driver can get their eyes back on the road since they will be eating up the tarmac pretty quickly. Lastly, the interior is dated?. The interior is good looking and very comfortable. You can keep up with trendy crap or you can go with what is proven and only change for meaningful improvements that actually create a better product.
I love Infiniti cars that are made in Japan. I have a 2003 Infiniti G35 Coupe and so far it's been very reliable, of course it's made in Japan. The only bad thing about Nissan/Infiniti is that they have a bad resale value except the GT-R
Great review, Joe! I've looked at Q50 and Q60 used around the 2020 and 2021 models, and these shockingly have an affordable resale value. The same goes for the Q SUV midsized. Hope you and Lori are doing well.
I have a 2021 q50. It's a little rocket and so well balanced. I love the grill, Lexus, Genesis etc have gone too big imo. I also like the e brake pedal and the volume knob
Joe, we have to be about the same age because your references are right up my childhood. I agree on “Back to the Future #1” being the best !!! I was curious about how many Nintendo Game Boys will fit in the center console. You can bring SNES games with you when you’re driving but you can however , bring the Gameboy. Maybe play Tetris while stuck in traffic. Also you could probably fit 4 TMNT in the door storage AND BeeBop , Rock Steady, and POSSIBLY SHREDDER!!😂😂
Thanks for the review Joe. It’s actually right at the time: there is a local dealer taking 12k off MSRP for a new q60 luxe, and I don’t know if I should get it. The interior is definitely outdated but with the price and the exterior design? Man I am so not sure if I should make the call
The interior is outdated? I've been in several new cars lately and have a 2021 RS. My interior looks brand new and I like the 2 screens. the 300hp luxe is still quick, but the RS is where it's at ;)
@@StlPike2004 technically it has been there for 10 years. I have a 23 IS 500, which also got a 10 years interior. But honestly though, the tech in Lexus gives me a better impression than the Infiniti, especially the dashboard
@@shadowlegion3115I had a 2015 IS350F before my two Red Sports. Lexus is nice, but it was slow. I want awd so an IS500 won't work for me. Lexus has nicer seats, leather, and steering wheel than the M340, Q50RS, S4, G70, and it has cooled seats.
I watched all your videos in this segment. 340i, G70, Q50rs, tlx type s, stinger, is350, all the Audi’s and Mercedes, and then pulled the trigger on a G70. Genesis gave a crazy good deal on a 3.3T SP AWD.
You got the engine year wrong they were using the 3.7 on the 13-15 models and the 3.0t came out in 2016 there was minor tweaks to the turbos in 2018 and for 22-2023 the q received the new engine and turbo updates like the z did there is a lot of aftermarket for these cars to make them look oem plus

the redsport is an overpriced, outdated pile of shit, thats not particularly at the top of its class in anything. Its an entry level luxury sedan that depreciates like absolute dogshit, from a dying company. infiniti used to be innovative and a major player, now its damn near its way out the door. I cant even remember the last time any car journalist said anything good about this car other than "its ok". The ONLY way you should ever buy this car is on the used market because the value drops so bad in these its not even funny. And thats the exact reason you see so many kids driving around in them cause theyre cheap as fuck with the same played out styling inside & out from practically 10 years ago. Shit... whens the last time Infiniti in general, made a top 10 of the year list in any category? Lol. At the end of the day, if youre gonna spend 60k on a 4 door sedan buy a m340i which is better than the Q in literally every single way. Joe looked SO unenthusiastic driving this car and that says everything.
I can grab one of these near me for 38k with 3,7k miles on it used certified from the dealer and I feel like that is the difference. Not worth it buying new but if you get a good one pre owned its a steal!
I have this car what I think you're feeling is the tires. They're run flats and they have very little grip. When I changed them to better tires the grip was much better.
the stock runflats are one of the worst rated tires on TireRack. The Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4's or the Conti DSW06's make it a new car. Night and day difference in drive feel, grip, and traction.
Weird how the previous redsport year models had real solid magnesium paddle shifters with leather edging (come from GTR heritage). Now u get thaw low rent pos plastic. lol. The little 3.0 (natural sound) sounds too quiet and boring. Takes al lot of money to get that 3.0TT to sound halfway decent. This car is major dated in and out. Shame on Infiniti. Still a decent looking car but very dated. When the turbos spool up she flies though. So thats good.
Hey Joe what do you think of grabbing one of these used? I've seen nice ones 2 years old less than 20k miles going for 35-38k. I think at that price it's a sweet deal.

I have an iPhone in my pocket, an ultra 2 watch; modern tvs at home, etc etc so I don’t need a tablet in my car too lol. There will always be better but my car is paid off and brings me from point A to point B just like it did 4 years ago.
Great review of this 2014 q50 !!! This car will turn heads for sure!!!
I used to love this car but the fact it hasn’t changed in years makes me not like it anymore.
I agree with everything said here but to add a little more I think they need to update the headlights and taillights also needs a digital cluster.
I dig the Infiniti Q50 Red Sport I dig the fake vents I like how they look because if those vents weren't there, there would be boring.
Fantastic Joe! Looks like a Black Opal Edition! Great car! I bought one back in May and drove it a couple thousand miles. Sold it to buy a DBX. Fun car! Thanks for bringing it to us.
Thanks Michael! Congrats on the DBX
I love the subtle colorshift to the paint. Always great review Joe!
I owned 2004 G35x for 8 years most reliable car ever owned. Then sold my 2012 G37xS for KIA Stinger instead buying Red sport. Genesis is everything Infiniti should have been!
Kia is junk
All Day #FACTS Bro!
Man I really like this and it's designed in a very beautiful way but the BMW 340i is something that's out of this world.
No one mentioning this is the black Opal edition? That is why the paint shifts from black to green to purple depending how the light hits it. Only 50 produced like this for North America
Wow, that paint color is awesome! It looks good in this video, must look amazing in person
😮yooooooo at 3:20 the color of the car changed to like a greyish purple color in the sun❤❤❤❤❤
It’s really popping! Lori did a great job with this one!
Joe and Lori and Steve and keep up the good work real true and I love the video 👍 real true 💯💯
M35 was voted by CR two years in a row as the best midsized luxury vehicle in the U.S. I know, I drove one for 250,000 miles and found a low mileage used one later and added another 100,000 miles to that one. It was the high water mark for Infiniti.
I have a 2010, drives so smooth I love it.
I had a 2010 M35 Sport and loved it too bad I crashed it
These are basically a lease special. You can lease it for less than a BMW and just dump after 2-3 years. In that scenario, it’s probably not that bad
Always worth watching, even if I'm not really interested in buying the vehicle being reviewed. Joe is very knowledgeable, provides history and always comes across honest, not a biased fanboy will give a Zonk when he feels it's warranted 👍🏽👊🏽
Joe it’s time to put the g70 on the list. Awesome review
I agree with you!
except they're not making the G70 anymore, just like the Q50
Nissan/infiniti always shoots themselves in the foot. They could be killing the game if they kept up with the times.
love sedans thanks Raiti, that head lamp looks a real eye
Infiniti has always made great looking cars with solid performance, I feel like their cars don’t get enough credit due to the interiors, but it is really bad. I have a 2015 q60 and a 2017 C7 Z51 and the q60 to me is the perfect daily with its sporty styling and solid performance.
A very beautiful green on this car. I don't think they have to change much when the design is very good. Shocking that cars like this are now 62k. That used to be a lot of money. Now that's what a full size pickup costs when you get a deal...
11:20 I nearly spit out my coffee haha
I bought the less expensive Q50 with 300hp AWD. They were discounting because everyone is buying SUVs and trucks. It has everything I want including a CD. The look looks modern to me. Didn’t realize it was over ten years old. Even being that old it has all the safety features. 3:56
Great review. I have a 2020 Q50 Silver Sport and I love it! Plenty fast yet comfy with plenty of room for the family. Truly feels like a 4 door sports car.
how much did you pay for it?
$38,000. Far cry from $62,000!!
God is good 🙏
Am I trippin looks like the paint turned from green to purple ... sick
I used to have a 2015 q50s with the VQ37 and loved it, now I’ve got the current refresh QX80 and love it as well. Might try to convince the wife to switch her A4 for a red sport
You’d be telling her to downgrade A4 is better speed is not that important for a woman
My friends have couple of these. Decent cars but interiors are so dated. Will stick with my BMW
I was a Q45 guy for years. Now the Genesis brand stole my heart. Does this compare to the G70?
If only Infiniti would refresh this model, I would considering upgrading to it from my G37. Instead, I'm now targeting the Acura TLX Type S.
Clearwater got hit big with Toronto, I'm on vacation at Venice,FL
Hey Joe I am a big fan of Infinite and Nissan 🎉
That Camera position taking off and coming back should be on every video. That angle gave it a real feeling. Nice Camera work🔥🔥🔥🔥
I want to see 2 million subs in 2024, Joe. Keep up the good work.
I love Infiniti cars that are made in Japan. I have a 2003 Infiniti G35 Coupe and so far it's been very reliable, of course it's made in Japan. The only bad thing about Nissan/Infiniti is that they have a bad resale value except the GT-R
I love the shade you throw at these car companies. 😂😂😂😂
Great review, Joe! I've looked at Q50 and Q60 used around the 2020 and 2021 models, and these shockingly have an affordable resale value. The same goes for the Q SUV midsized. Hope you and Lori are doing well.
I feel like the 2020 m340i is so good that it gets compared to cars that in normal scenarios you’d never really compare them to 🤷🏾♂️
Me: Until what year you will keep the same style??
Nissan executives: Until INFINITY !!
To me this body will always look
Awsome it will be a modern classic
I love this car it might be a little old and the tooth but it’s one of my favorite can’t wait till the redesign 😈
I got a Q60s and it’s been a year with zero problems. My German cars were expensive to keep the engine light off. They are programmed to break.
For those that arn’t familiar with this channel, this infact is not an SUV.
I still have my 2009 G37x. It's quick as hell and it still looks beautiful
I have a 2021 q50. It's a little rocket and so well balanced. I love the grill, Lexus, Genesis etc have gone too big imo. I also like the e brake pedal and the volume knob
This is a cute looking dinosaur though.
That’s a sharp car……love the dark green color. And it doesn’t have a CVT ! 😁. Noah had good taste
AMEN
100% it is... I own one and I've smoked every M and every AMG that's tried... I've smoked every Ford and a bunch of chargers.
Total sleeper
You won't smoke my 24 Mustang
@@panglingaow sure will just put my new chip in. Up to 900 hp
@justwill5107 put in your chip and post it on TH-cam unless you're just fronting like a little b*tc* on the internet.
When I saw the thumbnail my first thought was "It's cool when Raiti reviews old cars"
Great review and not bad for the $$ but this is why Infiniti has fallen so far behind it s competition pretty much throughout it s line up.
This infiniti Q50 Red Sport Compared With:
- Lexus ES 350 F Sport
- Acura TLX Type S
- Kia K5 GT Line
- Toyota Avalon TRD
- Nissan Maxima SR
- Honda Accord Sport
- Hyundai Sonata N Line
- BMW 5 Series 530i
- Audi A6
- Mercedes E350 Saloon
- Tesla Model S Plaid
- And More
From the profile view, the Lexus GS and this car look the same down to the shape of the back quarter window swoop.
the redsport is an overpriced, outdated pile of shit, thats not particularly at the top of its class in anything. Joe looked SO unenthusiastic driving this car and that says everything.
m340i any day
Never knew why people would spend this kind of money on an infinity...
I can grab one of these near me for 38k with 3,7k miles on it used certified from the dealer and I feel like that is the difference. Not worth it buying new but if you get a good one pre owned its a steal!
If you told me this is a 2013 model, I would be wowed. But if you told me this is a 2023 one, sorry...I beg your pardon??
go drive one and then say something. still nicer than most cars in the price range out there.
@@StlPike2004 You don't think I have not driven one? BMW is much much better. Even Audi S4 is better than this antique.
This is a GTR Sedan.
I drove a DAS equipped q50 and loved it. I dont understand that hate for it.
Joe, 60k I think over price , u can pick 18 model around 20k
I like the duel screen action!
😅
Classic super Nintendo! SNES (Super Nintendo entertainment system)
0:17 Right. A luxury SUV. Definitely
Infinity is trying to compete with the big boys!! BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Genesis, and Audi!! There far behind them!!
Hey Joe what do you think of grabbing one of these used? I've seen nice ones 2 years old less than 20k miles going for 35-38k.
I think at that price it's a sweet deal.
The m340i rwd is also around 39k as well which is a great option. B58 reliability, tuning, and the looks of the m340i are great for the price.
