I find the TLX to be a better deal than the Integra and the Type R (I know it's more expensive). Great car, luxury and performance perfectly combined and it's more than obvious that this Acura will last longer than a BMW.
This car looks like basic traffic compared to a m340i lmao. U dont even get a touch screen display... BMW has better luxury,better looks, better performance(handling braking speed)
The depreciation alone in all german sedans (save Ms and RS) is ridiculous, enough to keep you away from them, the B58 is a heck of an engine. I’ll take the Acura’s reliability and get it tuned for fun.

Joe, I think Acura made all the right changes for the 2024 TLX. Now in my mind, the only vehicle that needs a refresh at the least in the RDX. I remember in 2019, when it was redesigned, it was the sharpest looking Acura in the lineup to me. Crazy how fast things change, from freshest to most dated. 🤔
Two things I hoped Acura corrected on this refresh. 1. Brake rotors. All four on my '21 are warped. Dealer replacing under the 4-year, 50K mile warranty. 2. The puddle lights on the mirrors. OMG they have never worked. Just had my third set installed on 12/29 and the passenger side puddle failed last week. Now dealer thinks they may need to replace both entire mirror housing assemblies. The puddle lights are not weather proofed. Can't withstand rain or car washes for very long which is very disappointing.
As a someone that owned a couple 3rd gen TL's including the first 3rd gen TL Type S. Really loved those TL's but Acura hit it out of the park with this one. Looks great! Nice performance as well. Great review Joe as always.
The last time I was impressed by an Acura sedan was in 1995 right before they discontinued the Legend. 🚘 This is truly, in my opinion, one of the best-looking sedans on the market right now in its class.
Hi Joe!! Great review. Joe having so much fun driving the Type S made me smile many times. I have a 2019 Acura TLX V6 and I love it. Sport+ in my car is so much fun. I wish I had the SH-AWD though. My next car will most likely be one of these wonderful Type S versions. As far as touchscreens, I’m not a fan of the touch screens. It’s too distracting while driving to adjust the heated seats through the touchscreen. Call me old school, but I love the physical knobs and buttons. I can feel those and not take my eyes off the road. Thanks to you and your beautiful wife for the fun and informative content. :)
I love your review, Joe. I don't agree that no panoramic sunroof is a zonk. I hate pano roofs and I have seen a LOT of new cars in the shop with the roof torn out because of leaks, noise and other issues. I like the standard moonroof, sunroof like this car. The roof has more integrity too, I think. Important in a car to be driven fast.
Really, a well styled car. Love the Urban Gray Metallic paint job. I agree they could have and should have had the forward-looking camera on this vehicle a long time ago. Joe, thanks for another great review. I think you've got something there with the infotainment system. People get used to what is there and don't care.
I just one this week in Red. The Type S is the one to go with for the best ride. I am profoundly shocked how underrated this vehicle is in the Marketplace. Great review as always.
I have a '21 Type S and am glad they wised up and added wireless Carplay - I have to use an adaptor to connect wirelessly now which is sketchy in terms of connectivity. I've seen the copper wheels and am not crazy about the color combination, but to each his own. I like the subtle tweaks to the hood and grill. Love mine!
Another great review! I currently have a 2015 TLX TECH SH-AWD. I will be upgrading to this next year. Love what they’ve done with the Type-S! I’ve waited a long time. The tech and performance are night and day between my generation and this one. And yes…panoramic sunroof!
I really want to like this car. I was a Honda dude in the late 90s/early 00s. I was super excited about this car when I saw the specs, I even drove one, but the dynamics and overall experience couldn't touch the M340i I also drove, so that's the one I went with. I miss the "golden era" Honda cars.

This is the best spec ive seen for an acura. Looks the best ive seen from acura. With that said the m340i kills it in looks. Especially with aftermarket parts. Yellow DRLs,lowered, gts tail lights,etc.. m340i is faster,handles better, and has more tech and luxury. When i saw that the cheesy screen in this wasnt even touch screen i was mindblown. Most importantly u get a b58 with insane tuning potential and sounds better then this stock.
What ticks me off is when you're ready to pony up $45,000 and they only offer only one color (silver) without a bump. Pick ANY other color, add $600. I absolutely despise crap like that.
Soo many silly comments from the reviewer. You cannot compare this thing to an M340. 1. This 10 speed on this thing does NOT compre to the Zf8HP in the BMW. Not even close not even by a decade. That ZF8HP is also bomb proof. 2. The engine in this does not come even close to the B58 in the BMW. This thing is a century behind the B58. 3. BMWs also do not have gloss black on their interior. That piano black only comes in some higher end interior and it’s an option. The interior in this thing is so busy it feels line you are in a some silly spaceship. It will not age well. Even the silly face lifted BMW interior is miles ahead of this. 4. The performance in this thing is decades behind the M340. The M340 is a sub 4 second car. I could go on and on!
If only Honda did something like this with the touring Like... give the 2L turbo and adaptive dampers of the tlx some love. The top car should be the confy one, but why can't it be fun? Good job Acura. Honda, go back and check your work. Edit: I'd rather have no sunroof and no fold down seat, just to get a little more rigidity. The Camry TRD got that right.
Only thing holding me back from Acura right now is the touch pad and the non panoramic sunroof. Once they start implementing that in their cars then game over!
I personally like it with the regular sunroof instead of the pano. You are able to order the 2024 type s with gloss black badges for everything on the rear of the car. I do wish that they offered the same spoke design wheels but in gloss black.
TLX Type S is just so beautiful from any angle you look from. Since it’s Acura, it’s probably last longer than BMW or Audi. Wish TLX was with electric motor too. Then it could compare against NSX
So it's amazing that you can get this TLX type S for less than what dealers are charging for the Integra type - S. The exhaust on the TLX looks the part but sounds like a vacuum cleaner under load. This detail should not have been overlooked. The bronze wheels will not age well but can be easily refinished in a better complimenting color.
I test drove the 2023 tlx type s and the Genesis g70 3.3t and the g70’s interior and performance won me over personally. I really appreciated being able to fully turn off the traction control and drift mode in the g70 which the tlx can’t do but it’s definitely still an amazing car.
I prefer the q50/60 RS. Only thing Acura has on it is interior upgrades & technology. Other than that IMO the q50 has a timeless sleek look to it. Plus a used RS is practically dirt cheap nowadays
I really like the TLX Type S but it’s overpriced just like the ITR. It’s heavy and has no rear seat room. It gets walked by a Stinger GT and a Genesis G70 and everything German. I just don’t understand why they didn’t make it lighter OR give it more power.
There is a video showing PR performance dropping in the 3.5 crank of the older 2 main bolt v6 into the new 3.0 turbo 6 main bolt. What displacement he got from it he had to guesstimate but it increased it to 3.3 by his rough calculations. The thing Honda/Acura engineers are renound for is making so many possibilities (and ease) to modify their drivetrains! Suprised why the 2.0t is getting more attention (ie no turbo upgrade kits).

Great review as always. I voted with my dollars and picked up a 2024 Type S in Tiger Eye. Makes a perfect daily to complement my weekend S2000. The M340i and S4 are fine but they just blend into the crowd on the road and will likely have higher operating costs and more reliability gremlins. I like the touch pad as I can’t stand greasy screens. P.S. you could play a drinking game on this video everytime Joe says “panoramic sunroof”. 😂
Its’s a great car! On the lighter colors for the car there could be gloss black badging but on the darker colors crome! But overall great car and fast and love the color! 🎉🎉🎉😮
The TLX is definitely a looker. Looks better than the Integra but I think the Integra still takes the performance cake of their current consumer-grade lineup. It'd be a tough choice for sure! 😊
That'll be a good battle. The dual turbo Caddy will probably beat it in performance, the TLX will get the handling because of the all wheel drive system. Both cars are nearly equal, price will be too a determination when buying..
2024 Acura TLX type S has 13.5 cubic feet of trunk space . It also has less leg room in the rear compared to both of its german competition. M340 has 35.3 and s4 has 35.7 compared to acura 34.9 inches. Just wanted to clear that up for your viewers. Otherwise, great review. This car is on my shortlist for 6 months down the line when my lease is up.
Hello Joe, I definitely agree with you on this one with your opinions. The wheels look very nice, the badges should be blacked out especially with this urban grey pearl coat, very minimal gloss black, but the only thing Im gonna have to Zonk is I wish visually we could see a bottomless salad in the passenger side door pocket in real world use! 😆 The real question is where is the RR (Rait's ride) edition of this stellar looking car?!?!?!?!
I have a '19 TLX Type S. Doesn't look too much of a difference to me. Also, I'm not a fan of the copper-color rim. I went and had mine painted a matte black, to match the exterior of mine.
The copper wheels with that grey is a good color combo. I always wonder who comes up with the color names? If I had this one, I would get the front emblem and rear emblem in a copper wrap.
The navigation being a touch screen and the lack of a panoramic moonroof is very minor.. This car needs an additional 50-75 horsepower and twin turbos like yesterday! Acura needs to save the modesty for the Honda brand. If the TLX Type-S is supposed to be a performance sedan, then why not make it one?!

My pano shattered one day while parked and the dealership told me where to stick it.

If bought new This is fully loaded for 60k vs a brand new m340i x drive it starts at 59k base. If money isn’t a problem m340i all way.

Sunroof are no doubt better. The pano roofs can be a future, big maintenance cost if something goes terribly wrong with them.

If dealers weren’t marking them up $10-15K for “accessories” aka mark ups, then it would. But for that price, you can get a much better M340.

Not as big of a fan of the urban gray pearl. But the apex blue pearl is gorgeous.
i had an acura tsx and that was a great car. drive an m3 comp xdrive now and the extra $35k over this car is well worth it imo.

That'll be a good battle. The dual turbo Caddy will probably beat it in performance, the TLX will get the handling because of the all wheel drive system. Both cars are nearly equal, price will be too a determination when buying..

2024 Acura TLX type S has 13.5 cubic feet of trunk space . It also has less leg room in the rear compared to both of its german competition. M340 has 35.3 and s4 has 35.7 compared to acura 34.9 inches. Just wanted to clear that up for your viewers. Otherwise, great review. This car is on my shortlist for 6 months down the line when my lease is up.
I would also love to see the Type S with a panoramic roof and with the door sills that reflect and illuminate on the ground.
If you plan to own, yes, it's better than a BMW. Will cost less to own, and give similar performance.

Hello Joe, I definitely agree with you on this one with your opinions. The wheels look very nice, the badges should be blacked out especially with this urban grey pearl coat, very minimal gloss black, but the only thing Im gonna have to Zonk is I wish visually we could see a bottomless salad in the passenger side door pocket in real world use! 😆 The real question is where is the RR (Rait's ride) edition of this stellar looking car?!?!?!?!
I have a '19 TLX Type S. Doesn't look too much of a difference to me. Also, I'm not a fan of the copper-color rim. I went and had mine painted a matte black, to match the exterior of mine.

The copper wheels with that grey is a good color combo. I always wonder who comes up with the color names? If I had this one, I would get the front emblem and rear emblem in a copper wrap.

Such a hot car! Buddy of mine downgraded from a LaFerrari Aperta to one of these.
The navigation being a touch screen and the lack of a panoramic moonroof is very minor.. This car needs an additional 50-75 horsepower and twin turbos like yesterday! Acura needs to save the modesty for the Honda brand. If the TLX Type-S is supposed to be a performance sedan, then why not make it one?!

Don’t care what any German fan boy says. When you calculate price, repairs and all that boring stuff, Acura is the best in class. My dream car combo is the NSX type S for nice days and this for long distance/bad weather.
