      This is why console is better. Pc hardware is obsolete ever 6 months and you have to buy a new one.

      D Johnson you don't have to buy a new one. but if you have a mental problem that want everything updated. then you have to buy it for the sake of your mind

      yep, many people are playing on ~5 y/o hardware just fine, and with the way mc and sony are doing things right now, consoles are by no means better. if anything, pc has more compatibility for software, because the same will run on a wide range of hardware, whereas you need to buy several consoles to enjoy just a small range of console games. of course, if you are fine with as little games as there are for one console - that's you.
      on a related note, console games are on average *much* more expensive than pc games of the same tier, taking into account steam sales, gog, humble bundle etc.

      D Johnson are you fucking that dumb? Skylake was released basically a year ago. This new CPU brings a few fps more to the table compared to last year. You definitely don't have to upgrade your CPU if you have a 6700k. A GPU also has a pretty long lifespan as something like a 750ti can run most games at 30-60fps in 1080p (that consoles have been struggling to do forever). You don't have to upgrade to this...

    • @NootNoot.
      @NootNoot. 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      John Totten Improvements from Skylake to Kabylake is minimal compared to AMD's FX series to Zen. Its a huge feat for engineering and consumers.

    • @givemeajackson
      @givemeajackson 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      that's cause the engineering samples in all those leaks are clocked at about 3.3 ghz. clock for clock they're as fast as a broadwell-e cpu, and therte's rumours that they're getting 5 ghz on air... the ipc isn't gonna wreck intels, but we might get more cores at a lower price, and it should finally bring prices into a sort of reasonable territory again. cause the performance per dollar hasn't changed a bit since sandy bridge...

    • @Krytern
      @Krytern 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Roberto don't be a Intel fanboy it just makes you look stupid. The market needs a second company in the high-end CPU business.

    • @MrMulticool456
      @MrMulticool456 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Have you completely forgotten that zen will also be way more affordable? Intel releases horribly priced CPUs, and people are excited to see AMD back in the game because we all know they're the king of budget, the more competition the better for all of us

    Remember when PC and tech related videos used to be 5 minutes long & to the point, without cringey jokes, fake shocked faces, clickbait titles that make it harder for you to find the video later on and not 10-20 minute long vlogs? And because of all that simplicity much more enjoyable to watch? Ahhh, the good times.

Ive been running my i5 4690k since release and haven't seen any reason to upgrade... no performance issues, nothing. I'll probably do fine on it for another year or two.

      Galahad not much really. remember if you overclock, you'll get similar results.

    • @SuperJosteen
      @SuperJosteen 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Galahad the scaling gets worse at higher clocks, 3770k and 7700k/6700k underclocked at 3GHz the 7700k/6700k will pull far ahead, at 4GHz Sky/Kabylake will still performs way better but the difference will get smaller. Theoritically if you were somehow able to get a 10GHz 3770k and 10GHz 7700k it will perform exactly the same.

    • @cskillers1
      @cskillers1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      if both will be at same clocks then 7700k would be in the lead by quite a decent number, just how 5.0 GHz I7 4790k is weaker than 4.4GHz I7 6700k , the thing why is that happens is generation of Intel, 1000 is first, 2000 is second, etc, intel usually make 3~5% performance boost per generation or so they say, however, i myself confirmed that in 3dmark, here you can see by yourself I7 4790k@5.0GHz + 980 ti got 10332 physics score www.3dmark.com/cg/3429619
      another 5.0Ghz got a score of 10095 www.3dmark.com/cg/2817314
      @4.9 10183 www.3dmark.com/cg/2925481
      @4.8 10091 www.3dmark.com/cg/3040107
      let's just assume that another guy with 5.0GHz which score is as high as 4.8 either hit thermal limit or have a really bad chip,
      now let's look at the I7 6700K results (sorry I7 7700K isn't there yet, it's brand new after all)
      @5.2 GHz 12341(jesus christ he are insane) www.3dmark.com/cg/3389417
      @5.0 GHz 11761 www.3dmark.com/cg/3535956
      @4.9GHz 11592 www.3dmark.com/cg/3495529
      @4.6 GHz 10805 www.3dmark.com/cg/3373459
      @4.4 GHz 10588 www.3dmark.com/cg/3238380
      stock I7 6700K @4.2(due to turbo boost) got 10178 www.3dmark.com/cg/3587224
      another stock I7 6700k @4.2 with 10075 www.3dmark.com/cg/3437856
      that's about it , please remember that intel provides performance per each generation, because here we seeing stock I7 6700K being as fast as 4.8GHz I7 4790k , 7th generation (in our case 7700k) should have even better performance than I7 6700K , but only slightly, because it's only 1 generation ahead of it
      if you interested about exactly I7 3770k though, it's score usually around 9k at 4.8~5.0GHz clocks, here are 2 examples -
      www.3dmark.com/cg/3004100 9471 @4.9
      www.3dmark.com/cg/3134742 9386 @4.8
      // p.s. , i myself have I7 6700k, & it's clocked at 4.7Ghz, but it's score is sadly 10433 , the case of that is probably temps which often hit 90, but that can be fixed only if i will buy noctua fan, however if it's my chip, then it can't be helped - www.3dmark.com/cg/3840074

      It's AMD Ryzen and benchmarks of it released despite it only being 3.3ghz at the time of testing. I think it will do fine as long as it's over clocked to about 4.0-5.0ghz because the issue is poor optimization and lack of multithreaded games.

      It'll probably be closer to current intel processors rather than an upgrade since AMD has fallen behind. Hopefully it will make them competitive again since older and newer processors have been about the same in performance. Maybe lower some prices too.

    Thanks a bunch! This was enlightening. I came looking because the 7700k is actually cheaper than its predecessor on Amazon at the moment (due to a sale) and I am looking to upgrade my CPU. The closeness of the frame rates tested tells me that's probably a safe move.
    If I may make a suggestion for testing, however, there are certain games that are incredibly CPU intensive that I would really like to see in the comparisons to see if the more intensive the game is on your CPU, the greater the disparity? One such game would be Arma III, as on full settings that game and its 270+ Kilometer multiplayer maps will devour all of the power in most CPUs.

      well, I'm expecting zen to be significantly better than previous AMD CPUs, but on par at best with kaby lake. And Kaby supports more upcoming tech compared to Skylake, also since Intel almost never lowers prices of their CPUs, I will just pay the bit more for the Kaby lake

      Buddy i saw the videos, thats' why i said that there is no difference. Surely maybe a brief drop of 5-7 fps in some tripple-A games but still. The point is that Intel isn't providing major reasons to upgrade like it used to. E.G. From singlecore to dualcore made huge difference... or from 1.2 ghz to 2.1 ghz made a huge impact... but nowadays gambling for 5-7 fps more won't cut it anymore. :)
