Two things of note before people in the comments kill me: 1. My explanation of the spoke lacing is probably full of mistakes. You can just go read the product page LoL. 2. The wheels are twitchier than most my other wheels, I think it's not an aero thing but actually just because the wheels are so light (the rim) which means they have very little gyroscopic effect (compared to heavier wheels) to resist the crosswinds.
I know you think keeping the same tires and tubes will help you compare the wheels to the Magene but is not that simple. Magene wheels are way narrower , softer and heavier. 28mm tire works great for Magene but not so much for Craft (25mm internal). Because you use tubes 28mm works with the Craft wheels but is at the very narrow side , a min 30mm would work better , when installed on the 25mm internal wheel a 28mm tires is stretched and compressed , works totally different than when is installed on a 20mm internal width. Is like counting calories, sure 2foods can have same caloric no but where they coming from and how your body receives them matters more, same with wheels/tires combo. Going 30front , 32 rear tubeless would extract the most performance from the Craft wheels , better tire profile, more comfort and grip, way better stability and better rolling resistance. Welcome yours and others opinions but based on facts, no feelings
Yes, pros started to use that combination with great success, lots of recent studies proved that rear wheel has very little to do with the aero performance and more with grip , comfort,rolling resistance. Peak Torque done extensive experiments and his findings are backed by serious data and analysis.

All I am saying is that modern wheels are engineered and developed as a system with tire and frames in mind, there is a reason why the front wheel is so wide internal and external, this are facts proven by the manufacturers who actually do the research

I would love to see a review of the Lightcarbon wheels ( maybe the sawtooth pattern 60/55 depth with carbon spokes. Hambini says they are good construction wise, curious how you think they compare given your experience on various wheelsets.
After using these CRW wheels, I’m very tempted to order some custom wheels from Light Bicycle using the same specs for both external and internal width!

Nice one Patrick: I have just returned from a weekend in the mountains using my CRW CS5055 and I thought I would share my experiences and thoughts. Firstly, In my opinion, I find a 34mm rim width for the 50mm front wheel is far too wide for road as it reduces aerodynamic efficiency, if you intend to compete with these wheels. For this reason, I chose the CS5055 combination as the front rim width is 29mm. The 29mm wheels require a 28mm tyre for optimal aero efficiency. I tried a 26mm tyre, but the wheels are more suited to 28mm unfortunately. The tyres that I am currently trialling are the Vittoria Corsa N.EXT tyres and my colleges and I are very impressed with the suppleness, grip and wearing of these tyres. You are correct about comfort; the combination of the wheels and these tyres are truly excellent. I tested these tyres on coarse dead and rough roads and yes, this combination is comfortable. In fact, the most comfortable that I have ever experienced on a road bike. The handling of these wheels with these tyres is incredible. I completed 3 x 1000m plus descents on this wheel/tyre combination hitting speeds in excess of 70km/h and broke PR's on all three occasions without any risk whatsoever. These wheels/tyres have taken my descending to the next level. For climbing the CS5055 wheels are more than capable for climbing. They don't feel as snappy as my tubulars, but they are stiff and respond wheel. I would love to try the CS4045 next time I hit the mountains. In terms of cross wind, I weigh 58kg and I find the additional width of the wheel provides more than enough stability and I would rate them a little better than my Hyper50s. The wheels look fantastic but for time trials in particular I would consider a thinner wheel in order to use a thinner tyre. My score 10/10 but I would like to see an optional even lighter narrower wheel and a choice of a 29mm rim for the CS5060 combination. I hope you too enjoy your wheels. Also, I have noticed that Cybrei to have an impressively designed wheel which I would love to try some time.

A little twitchy but I've ridden them in heavy winds and had no real issues, I feel like if you've ridden deep wheels you know the drill for how to handle it. @@PatrickLino
Thank you for using the propel as a benchmark for comparing these wheels! Yesterday I bought a 2023 Scott Foil RC 30 on a crazy good holiday sale and now badly need a wheel upgrade (on the cheapish side) for crit racing.
I bought these Wheels in September for my 23 Scott Foil 30. They arrived 7 weeks later in October. I bought the gold decal 50/60. The gloss looks good because the bike is gloss and not Matte black. I bought a pair of DT Swiss HEC1600-47mm for another bike a year ago. The packaging and presentation from CRW was waaaay better than DT. All I can say is these wheels make a difference. I don't understand how its easier to ride at 21-22mph instead of 18mph. The weight is crazy low, and they are pretty durable. I have the same tan sidewall continentals gp5k and the 19g tpu tubes.. Lol. These wheels are sick!
There are so many GREAT wheels on the market right now. Fortunate to have tried a lot of them. However, it's been a very long time since a set of wheels have actually blown me away (no pun) upon first impression. The Hyper D67s come to mind. But these CRW wheels are in a league of their own. Shame it's wintertime here.

Funny I tested mine for the first time 3 days ago and I was expecting a harsh a** ride and it was insanely comfortable. so much so I had to stop and double check my tire pressure to ensure I wasn't going crazy lol. I know 1700 bucks sounds like a whole LOT for "chinese" wheels... but these things are on par with wheels that cost 2x the price. Aesthetics, performance, weight and build quality are all A++ on these. I hope to get some sales with these at my new shop soon.
Only about 120g difference! only place I think you'll feel a subtle difference is crosswinds. You should try these wheels on the X38 frame and see if it makes a difference in the overall feel of the bike. Would be interesting. @@PatrickLino

The Drives are one of the best value in my opinion in this price category. I don’t find them super stiff (which is good or bad depending who you ask) but their main draw is their lower weight.

Nice wheels. Saw the initial review by Pete Torque. In your clip when speaking about comfort, and rough roads you likened them to Winspace . I would have thought they would be similar to Elite drive Wheels due to their lightness. I have read the winspace wheels are more rigid {stiff)hence hence better power transfer so I would think especially on bad roads they would be more uncomfortable than Elite drive. Would love to see you review some of the cheaper Chinese Wheels especially direct from manufacture {yuan an, Prox Carbon). Reading they are actually OEM suppliers from some of the brands you have already reviewed.
I’ve been in touch with some of those suppliers you speak of. Considering I’ve already reviewed the brands which they supply for, it would be redundant.

With only 16 spokes, extremely light rims and hubs that look to have been machined away to nothing, I'll be interested to see how these hold up to daily use. They're very, very light for the dimensions, maybe too light.
Hi Patrick, i've just purchased a 2023 Propel SL frameset and looking at purchasing these wheels - Is tire clearance an issue running the 28's, as the internal rim width is soo wide? I'm want to install 30mm tyres and just a bit worried they wont fit. Thanks mate.
Thanks for watching. Any potential clearance issues is only at the rear of the frame with the chain stays. However, the CRW CS5060 in particular have different internal rim width for both the front and rear rim. The rear wheel is only 21mm internal versus 25mm on the front. No issues with clearance.
I'd love to get the super light set of these that are in the 40s but the price is a little hard for such a "new" company with no discount. I think with some light not so deep wheels, my wheel arsenal would be nice and rounded out for a number of uses.
According to Panda Podium these are one of, if not, the highest selling products on the website. Seems like customers don't really need a code if the product is good and unique.

I'm in a tricky situation here. Deep dives on engineering is not my thing (clearly) and obviously no access to a wind tunnel LoL. The good news is there are content creators who have already debunked the theory about wider wheels being less aerodynamic. So I'll just stick to on-the-road feel and longterm durability.
You guys they are just copying what SPECIALIZED have done with their Roval wheel. It is meant to aid fight crosswinds indeed that super wide front rim. Even the different rim depth is copied from SPECIALIZED ROVAL RAPIDE CLX.
Chinese wheel user. These look as beautiful as campy ultras bar the hubs. But the are above the price point I”d risk on Chinese wheels with practically no local customer support. Elite D50 are the same weight and $600 cheaper.

Perhaps not the ideal for the 100kg bloke. But reports from other field testers have shown to be durable. Only time will tell for my set however.
As someone who is 95kg I would be concerned with wheels like this....maybe if I can drop 20kg and use them only for Sunday rides

Why is the front rim so wide? Isn’t a 25mm wide internal rim almost a gravel or even a mountain bike wheel?

These are more comfortable and more aero. The front wheel has a 25mm internal width which means lower PSI compared to Drive 45
Strange the front wheel is wider than the rear. Would have thought it would be opposite for aerodynamics.
The outer width is the same as on the Roval CLX/CL II. Supposed to help with crosswind stability.

Chinese wheel user. These look as beautiful as campy ultras bar the hubs. But the are above the price point I”d risk on Chinese wheels with practically no local customer support. Elite D50 are the same weight and $600 cheaper.

Those wheels look really good on that bike, Be sure to keep an eye on the rear wheel as low spoke count wheels tend to crack near the Nipples!
