The rear wheel is the exact same as what farsports/wheelsfar uses in their 50mm deep and 30mm wide hyper wheels. The external dimension is actually listed/marketed as 30mm wide and not 31.5mm (which is the widest part of the rim but not at the interface which is 'just' 30mm). I guess it adds to the marketing bluff to list the wider dimension since we seem to see wider is better nowadays. If I am farsports, I would list the widest dimension too, easy gains!
@@Wanderer25 Wheelsfar Hyper is cheaper on my case: I ordered a 45/50 hyper set with carbon spokes and 54T ratchet for $999 delivered to the US. Great summary. I like most of the design of these wheels. However, I think the internal width of that front wheel is a bit too wide for most road tyres (not that I have tested it myself). I can see why you have ran a 30 on there. I can definitely see how that would make it comfortable though! Especially for these British roads
It's strange that they kept the rear width smaller than the front. I'm guessing it makes the ride more compliant when the tire ballons into a light bulb shape. I would be curious to see just how much sharper the streched front tire affects handling.

Running these wheels on my Aethos S Works. Immediately, they are faster on the flats. Climbing, , compare very well to my previous set of LB AR35's (1260g)....only one draw back I found with these were on the fast long descends (longest climb is almost 12km at avg 8%) , the wheels are not balanced. Easily fixed with some golf led counter weights.
@@PatrickLino Just use the golf sticky counterweights....typically around 15-17g, stuck on the inside of the rim bed, opposite to the valve stem. it helps to stabilize the wheel on fast descends and higher speeds (> 50kph). Hi Patrick! Quick question-are these wheels 34mm at the front right? I saw that the Tavelo frame specifies a max tire width of 32mm. How has your experience been with the Attack in this setup? How much clearance is there between the tire and fork? Is it enough? No rubbing issues? Thanks!
The easiest way is to physically measure the tire clearance on your particular frameset. Specifically near the chainstays and near the inside top of the fork.
You don't need super wide internal. You need 21mm internal and good amount of external over 30mm to get the most benefit for road cycling. The ratio between the internal and external is the money. Look at Roval Rapide CLX 2, Reserve wheels, Vision wheels. They know something...
@@borasumerFor speed, yes. But don't underestimate comfort and fatigue when it comes to overall performance. For distance/endurance riding, this could in fact be a bigger factor for both recreational and professional riders, especially on choppy roads. Whereas, over a three week tour, 'slimmer' aero wheels won't help as much to reduce fatigue from road chatter and buzz (or indeed enhance grip).

Paired with 32mm tyres they would probably be great for long distance cycling. Plump tyres for all day comfort !

It's strange that they kept the rear width smaller than the front. I'm guessing it makes the ride more compliant when the tire ballons into a light bulb shape. I would be curious to see just how much sharper the streched front tire affects handling.
Also helps reduce tire sidewall cuts. More tire stretch and less light bulb shape means the sidewalls are more exposed to punctures.
Some say that the rear wheel should be wider for comfort / compliance as it bears most of the weight, and air flow is already disturbed.

Still wondering if these would work on the Yishun 086 since the stated max tire width is 30C
Might need to test this out before it gets cold.
Do you think 28mm tires could be wide enough for the 28mm internal width ?
Personally would not use 28s on these wheels. Even 30c is pushing it, but they have been totally fine.

The easiest way is to physically measure the tire clearance on your particular frameset. Specifically near the chainstays and near the inside top of the fork.
What’s the advantage of going 45/50 (mullet) instead of say 50/50??
Marginal weight savings and marginal increase in crosswind stability. Pretty insignificant if you weigh 75kg, but might be more tangible at 60kg.
A little less wight and a little less effect by cross winds.
