- Fahrenheit at Hersheypark is an odd Intamin roller coaster. This ride opened with a record-breaking beyond-vertical drop and features six inversions. This coaster combines elements of both their blitz coasters and their multi-loopers to provide a diverse and well-balanced ride experience. But is this America's most underrated Intamin?

This ride actually looks so underated. Intamin came up with this new style of coaster that's like a mix of a Gerstlauer Eurofighter and Maverick and boy oh boy was it good. From that amazing first drop, to the unique Norwegian Loop, to the other intense inversions, whippy corkscrews, strong posative Gs, ejector airtime, it may be kinda short but seriously, what isn't to love about this thing.
If the big inversions were forceful, it would be perfect.
It is a fun ride but I never found to much strong Gs on it though
"It may be kinda short" That's actually a weird thing with Hershey, all of the coasters are weirldly kinda short. They are all great mind you, just shorter then what you would find at other parks.

I've only been on this ride twice because of the lines, although I did manage to grab the back row. It would be nice if there was a dual station like Stormrunner, or a separate unload platform to help move things along, but I guess they didn't have the space. My favorite part is that bunny hill. It really is unexpected.

In 2019, the paint had faded to a yellow, but it was repainted in the fall.
The new paint looks great.
Great Bear and this are both two criminally underrated coasters by their respective builders IMO

@@bandmfanboy skyrush is fun when you are tough enough to not mind the pain. There was even an 8 year old who went on it over and over again who didn’t mind the slight pain. The pain is know where near as bad as people say it is. It is just an overall better ride than Fahrenheit
I've been hyped for this coaster for a while now & this video just reaffirms my belief it'll be one of the best on my Pennsylvania/NJ coaster trip next month. I can't wait.

Actually Fahrenheit was tied for the steepest drop in the world when it opened. Many euro fighters that opened years before also had a 97 degree drop. I love the reviews man!

The sorta lower to the ground whippy style reminds me of Maverick at cedar point. I really loved that one

This ride really needs a double loading platform and a fourth train. The ability to check two trains at once, and cut down on the time for guests to drop their loose articles would really help. Look at Maverick! When the trains dispatch, one engages the lift and travels the course while the other one parks at the bottom of the lift.
That would have been nice.
That last airtime hill is actually nuts and caught me off guard. Really completed this ride for me.

It is interesting that a lot of the merchandise from the park features this coaster more than even the newer ones.
Last time I just saw Candymonium and Sooperdooperlooper stuff.
I just rode this coaster on sunday for the first time in 5 years, and it has just passed Swamp fox as the most underrated coaster I've ridden. I think they were running the lift hill faster than normal, so the first half was just ridiculously intense, and the airtime especially on the drop was almost Skyrush level. I also loved the variety of elements and incredible pacing
Hopefully it runs like that when I ride it later this month.
I guess I caught it on a good week. It was smooth throughout the ride, and after waiting 15 minutes for my first ride, the rest of my rides were 5 minutes or less, and they were cranking out the trains fast. Lightning Racer, Comet, Candymonium, & Great Bear all had longer lines, but nothing was long. Fahrenheit is easily my 2nd favorite in the park, but of course Storm Runner was closed.

It took me a long time to like Farenheit because I hated the hard restraints. I personally got a long of head/neck banging on them through some of the inversions. The best restraints were a welcome upgrade like they were on Stormrunner. After some more rides on Farenheit, there is a lot to like about it and I love those final two corkscrews and airtime hills. I often don't ride it as much as Stormrunner or Skyrush because the capacity and thus wait are painfully slow.
The capacity impacts how often I ride this too.
The only real issue I have with this ride is the rattle on the cobra roll, other then then a have zero issues with this ride, it’s awesome.

I assume the new restraints were installed some point later into the season on fahrenheit in 2016 because I visited in early April, 2016, and it still had the hard OTSRs

I rode this one just after a rainstorm snd it was a great ride. I agree, very slow operations here, which is partially due to the restraint buckle being difficult to open.
That could be a reason.
I will be going to Hershey for the first time in just over a month. I will get 2 days at the park. I think Fahrenheit will be somewhere between #4-#6 in the park for me. I am looking forward to that first drop in the back row. I can see that being my favorite element on the ride.

I think it’s one of the most underrated Intamin’s but not the most because I think Vertical Velocity or the Impulse models are the most underrated but I haven’t ridden a lot of roller coasters so don’t take my opinions too seriously
I'm not a big fan of the Impulse coasters to be honest.
Never really thought about it before but this has a kinda similar layout to hangtime.

When I went, I rode Thighcrush first. That was a mistake, as there was a station wait at most the entire day and Fahrenheit was pretty packed compared to the size of the crowd that day.
I love how Skyrush is almost always a walk-on.
i’ve been to hershey twice and i’ve never seen this coaster have longer than a 15 minute wait, then again it was still one of the longest lines only beaten by candymoniums 25 minutes
Candymonium has an interesting line. It spikes like crazy after opening, but it often dies by mid-afternoon on weekdays at least.

It's always struck me as Intamin's take on a Gerstlauer Eurofighter, but it's interesting that Intamin never made another coaster quite like this again.
I like Fahrenheit a lot. Unfortunately the capacity is a bit too low for Hersheypark.
They just made another one like this for a Chinese park.

I was just thinking about this in the context of a video about how a bunch of recent Intamin announcements sound like imitations of other companies' coaster models, but usually with some kind of twist. Fahrenheit is an example of Intamin doing this over a decade ago.
Another opinion I have is that maverick has a far superior drop despite being less steep because of the lsm lift hill giving a ton of speed

Still can't believe this thing runs 3 trains with Hersheypark's terrible ops lmao. Also i managed to get a light rain ride in the summer and this thing was flying, the whip in and out of the cobra roll was comparable to an old school b&m so the pace didn't suffer a bit except for the ghost trim section, and with stormrunner closed and candymonium on full trim mode it ended up being an easy top 2 ride at the park

I wish it still had the hard over the shoulder restraints on one or two seats for larger riders. The soft restraints are much more restrictive, and many more people need to take the walk of shame when they had no problem with the old restraints.

Yeah I went my first time this weekend. I'm a big guy 6'4 300+ lbs but I usually fit most coasters due to my body shape. I wasn't even close on these 2. I was bummed cause these were both bucket list rides for me. I fit kingda ka relatively easily for comparison. I wish they'd offer belt extenders for some of these.

Yeah, for first-time visitors to Hershey who want to get all the credits in one day: head first to Laff Trakk and then to Fahrenheit. They are next to each other and they have the two worst capacities in the park. You will save yourself a LOT of time if you can hit them before the masses arrive.
The other helpful thing about Hershey is the preview plan. The preview plan lets you knockout the 2 hypers, Comet, and Great Bear. Then the full day you can book it towards the back.

@@StamfordBridge In the summer, Hershey lets you into the park the last 2-3 hours the day before your full day ticket.
@@CanobieCoaster Sounds like a great deal. I’ve been to Hershey twice before but each time just one day. I’m planning to visit again this summer, but only as one stop on a massive coaster trip, so again just for one day. Maybe in the future - good to know about.

Everybody criticizes it for having otsr and puts it as the second or worst accelerator in America

The cobra roll could be replaced by a batwing. It will also invert riders twice, but it could be smoother and pull much stronger positive Gs than the cobra roll.
I just wish the element were smoother.

Adding on to my comment from yesterday's off ride video, imo it isn't worth the long line it always gets. On a weekday the line was over a half hour on both rides, when skyrush was a 3 minute wait lol
I agree Skyrush is a better option usually, but I still always want to ride this a few times each visit.
I have ridden this coaster before i agree with alot of the things you said. The cobra roll should be rattle snake not cobra because that is one rattle!

The ride doesn't have much positive Gs outside of the pullout on the Norwegian loop.

I’d have to disagree with what you said about painfully slow dispatches. It’s been a little while since I rode it but I’ve seen 30 second dispatches on this thing. The line only moves painfully slow because of it’s low capacity. This is a great ride tho!
It usually would double stack, but the crew was better in 2021.

It's one of my favorites, but I prefer a few of the other steel coasters.
It seems I got really lucky with the wait on this ride. I don't think I waited more than 15 mins on both my rides, and it wasn't a dead day by any means.
When I went on a Monday in July last Summer it was a legit walk-on all day. Got to ride every row! Back is definitely the best

I going to Hershey next year, unfortunately I may have to skip Fahrenheit. I have limited time and won’t be able to sacrifice for a long line. Looks like a super underrated ride, and has much more variety than maverick
