I loved the Gamecube era for many things, one of them being the fact that almost everyone got their own 3D game. Out of the big 2D platformer mascots by Nintendo, Yoshi is still missing his own 3D game.
I’ve 100% this game, and while I don’t mind the overall short length, the worst thing about WarioWorld is the complete lack of post ending content. Once you finish the game, you literally have zero reason to replay, other than just to have fun with the gameplay mechanics. Some sort of New Game + function to unlock new content would have done wonders to extend the games lifecycle.
By the way, I don't think a game should ever be criticised for being "too short". If anything, it can be too expensive for what you get. But just being short in and of itself is not a criticism. If you beat the game and think to yourself, "Man, I wanna play more of that!" then it just means the game was good and didn't overstay its welcome. Portal is also a very short game, but no one would argue that this detracts from the game's quality. It's exactly as long as it needs to be. And the price reflects that. But yeah, I don't know what Wario World's original price was, but I think if it was sold for, let's say 30 bucks or 40 at most, then people shouldn't complain about the length.
Then again Wario games and Treasure games already have some freaky bosses. And you gotta hand to Wario... He isn't a scaredy cat and he can take on the bosses in this game. He has some guts.

Came in just to say that it felt special because it was made by Treasure only to find that like 5 people already had made the distinction. Good to see legendary studios get recognition
I always thought they should've doubled down on the whole "enemies are actually made of Wario's treasures" bit by giving the Black Jewel attacks where it uses Wario's treasures against him. Like forming a pile of coins into extended limbs, using huge gems to deal blunt force damage, using ornate swords as weapons, shooting coins as projectiles (which you could actually still collect after they hit something). It could summon a treasure chest to shield itself, which you need to bash open, maybe using an enemy that it spawns. It could swim through a sea of coins like Scrooge McDuck and pop up in different places, playing whack a mole with you. It could swing around on a pearl necklace, or maybe use it as a whip. It could roll glamorous Fabergé eggs at you. Maybe they are decorated with spiky gems, while others aren't, so you have to find ones that you can grab and throw back. Also, it's a shame that in the actual fight, it never really uses its tentacles. It would've been fun if, at the end, it got fed up and just started using 2 of its tentacles as legs, the other 2 as arms, and simply walked up to you to smack the shit out of you personally, the same way you've done throughout the whole game. There's certainly a lot that could be done with this, but I guess they were already short on time. I'd love to see this concept revisited in a Wario World Sequel.
@klaymodopostoffice9885 Hah, nice! Funnily enough, I'm not even that happy with the redesign anymore, I might actually give him another redesign at some point. 😂
27:22 omg I remember being super young and getting stuck on that cuz I didnt know what to do. I was playing on someone else's console starting from the middle of the game so I didn't have experience from the first half of the game I'm glad i never got past the level though because i was super arachnophobic back then and would've had a panic attack seeing the boss
Wario World hits that perfect weirdness factor. Treasure themselves sometimes crosses that line, like, mischief makers, I don't know. Stretch Panic, hmm, little to weird. Gamecube was the only console to have a Mario, Wario, and Luigi title on it.
Loved the video as a whole... But Treasure made this game, not Nintendo lol. Granted, Nintendo probably had final creative say, but it does urk me a little you negelected to mention that at all. This very fact would help explain a lot of the strangness in the game, Treasure frequntly has done some odd stuff. Go look up McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure or Mischef Makers if you want more of what I'm talking about. Still though, fun video, keep it up
I had so much fun playing this game. Didn't notice how long I had been playing until my dad came into my room and said it was morning already. Anyway, since you mentioned Wario Land 3 at the start, I suggest you talk about that game next and how it's technically a Metroid game. There's a number of parallels that can be made comparing it to Metroid Fusion as well. Now I'm just imagining the box art for Wario Land 3 but with Samus's power armor helmet over Wario's face as you call it the The Missing Metroid. Made a video reading an essay about why it's the most unique metroidvania, if you want to check it out. Consider Fusion more of a sequel than Wario Land Advance ever was.
Oh hey, cool! This is gonna be frickin weird and Im ready for it lol. All I know about wario world is that one big blue headed boss you mentioned in one of your last videos, so Im in for a ride I think lol Edit: i paused and wrote that at the start of the video. Not even 30 seconds in and theres a gem with an eye and tentacles. Yep, this is gonna be weird lmao
With Clownaround, you didn't mention you can dodge the big ball explosion thingie by standing in the alchoves on the sides of each platform. Just in case you miss your ride across the tightrope.
Fun-fact about the Winter Windster : In the manga Ore Dayo! Wario Dayo!! (which follows the events of Wario World) this boss is referred to as a girl in the french translation because she has a much cuter, effeminate face than the one she has in the game.
Correction. Treasure made this, which is why it feels suspiciously SEGA.
That would explain why it kinda feels eery and strange, but in a way that makes you question if that was actually their intent at times.
love how Treasure of all companies made a Wario game about collecting treasure
Fun fact: if you stay at the pause screen for 50 minutes, Wario will say sorry, I guess for being so annoying with his obnoxious taunting.
I think the fact Wario will fight gods and monsters beyond comprehension for... his own greed, that's just badass.
To this day I shout 'EGGSALAD' in tone of Wario when things are going well.
I hear this in my sleep. You aren't the only one.

That or a in warioware remake they could add new bosses themed off treasure
@klaymodopostoffice9885 Thanks! I assume you saw my old post on the Wario Forums about a Wario World sequel? 😅
@klaymodopostoffice9885 Hah, nice! Funnily enough, I'm not even that happy with the redesign anymore, I might actually give him another redesign at some point. 😂
27:22 omg I remember being super young and getting stuck on that cuz I didnt know what to do. I was playing on someone else's console starting from the middle of the game so I didn't have experience from the first half of the game
I'm glad i never got past the level though because i was super arachnophobic back then and would've had a panic attack seeing the boss
I love your channel man
Stumbled across this video at random, great work my G. It was both funny and entertaining. Looking forward to whats to come.👌
I appreciate the kind words 🙏 more coming soon!
Epic intro
Wario World hits that perfect weirdness factor. Treasure themselves sometimes crosses that line, like, mischief makers, I don't know. Stretch Panic, hmm, little to weird.
Gamecube was the only console to have a Mario, Wario, and Luigi title on it.
This game was one of my favorite games on gamecube when it came out. Wish I could go back in play it 😭
Just ran through the game 100% the other day, and I wish we got another wario game like this, maybe even an upscale remake.
Average Mario Adventure: Awww... The koopas dance to the beat of the music during the level!
Average Wario Adventure:
Loved the video as a whole...
But Treasure made this game, not Nintendo lol.
Granted, Nintendo probably had final creative say, but it does urk me a little you negelected to mention that at all.
This very fact would help explain a lot of the strangness in the game, Treasure frequntly has done some odd stuff.
Go look up McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure or Mischef Makers if you want more of what I'm talking about.
Still though, fun video, keep it up
Don't forget Dynamite Heddy, Gunstar Heroes, and Battletanks!
@@FrahdChikunAnd also Radiant Silvergun, Rakugaki Showtime, Sin and Punishment and Ikaruga!
I actually remember being so surprised in Pecan Sands when the world two boss showed up! Blew my mind as a kid playing this game.
All I know about wario world is that one big blue headed boss you mentioned in one of your last videos, so Im in for a ride I think lol
Edit: i paused and wrote that at the start of the video. Not even 30 seconds in and theres a gem with an eye and tentacles. Yep, this is gonna be weird lmao
Wario gained possession of the hope diamond and the curse destroyed his house
This game will always hold a special place in my heart. I'm surprised I wasn't more creeped out in retrospect.
i just noticed the dino boss in lingerie got a cloaca line in the bottom.
With Clownaround, you didn't mention you can dodge the big ball explosion thingie by standing in the alchoves on the sides of each platform. Just in case you miss your ride across the tightrope.
Fun-fact about the Winter Windster :
In the manga Ore Dayo! Wario Dayo!! (which follows the events of Wario World) this boss is referred to as a girl in the french translation because she has a much cuter, effeminate face than the one she has in the game.
god I am so happy you made a vid on this game
fantastic, more niche retrospectives. Especially GameCube ones
