I’m standing in front of a set of 557s right now with a micron gauge doing the exact same thing.
    Fk.😂

I’ve just been going back over some old hvac school podcast episodes, and in the evacuation episode, Jim Bergman mentioned this very issue! Cheers for the heads up.

Just when you think you got it all figured out? It happens to the best of us!

Had a problem as well with mine. Posted a video on facebook. And bluevac contacted me and i sent it in, they called and said it was perfectly fine. And sent me a new one anyway. I tried the new one and had the same problem. Contacted the guy again and we didnt some hose and equipment tests . And found one of my 3/8 hoses has a bad seal . And one of my vcrt also had bad o ring . So they are very understanding and helpfull . Glad ya gave them a new end to the video!

Thanks for watching Robert. Good to know that they took care of you...That gauge is amazing, as I said on the video I didn't intend to bash them. I'm very happy to have found the problem.

Very cool. Ive been using the micron readers on the fieldpiece and testo gauges for years. Today, I finally purchased the bluvac. Cant wait to use it.

phillip sierra , Bluvac was a good choice! Thank you for watching.

Thanks for this... had similar issue over the weekend that after running a 6 cfm pump thru 3/8" hoses on a little reach in that I knew was tight on pressure test, that was driving me crazy on micron test.

Good deal. I've actually had 1 leaky vct. Drove me crazy. I spent a long time looking for leaks in the system. It would go down to 1500 then back up to 1700 microns. Turns out it was the vct. Replaced it. It dropped like a rock. I was able to get it swapped out for a new one.

How do u feel about leaving the shrader valves in and just waiting 20 to 30 minutes for it to pull down ? I mean when ur having a situation like this and things aren’t working right ??

The yellow jacket 69071 coupling might be a good option. Not sure if it's "vacuum" rated.

Thanks Jonny Mac, that's the EXACT one I'm going to try.

Yes the coupler is shallow but also look at the Appion side port compared to a normal shraider. The valve is set deeper than a normal core would be. I'd file the tool side port down but I just take the core out completely. Problem solved ;)

WorksGoodCheckItOut , thanks for watching. They sent me a new coupler. Between that, and being more aware it hasn't been an issue since.

My micron gauge doesn't hold and only reaches 690 microns but still it wouldn't hold I tried it directly on my vacuum pump and it reaches 69 and fluctuates back to 179 doesn't stay one place what can cause this does anyone know tried what you did but still no solution

I would try to replicate the same test with a different micron gauge - see if the results are similar.

I would just take the Schrader off and use a ball valve or another core tool.

SINGH HVAC good advice, that’s what I’m currently doing.

REALLY, man it took u that long to say that it was the coupler!

It's crazy, the same thing happened to me and one of my tech's that bought the appion core tools, both of us bought 2 each, but only one each would give accurate readings on the side-port. We both marked ours as to which one it works on, haven't checked them further yet to see if it was just the Schrader in the VCRT side-port. What was your final solution?

    • @neilcomparetto5282
      @neilcomparetto5282  6 ปีที่แล้ว

Michael Housh you can loosen the side port Schrader, or get a coupler with a adjustable depressor. Bluvac sent me a new, better coupler.

Thanks Neil, I have an appion coupler. I'll have to check if it's adjustable.

Hey I'm having the exact same problem with my setup that I bought from Tru-Tech can you recommend a good couple that's not going to give me any problems? I almost wish I bought the CPS micron gauge it looks like it has a much better coupler system

JDT738126 I’ve had zero issues with the new one.

I would have blamed the gauge to. I experienced a similar issue with the depressor as well. Vacuums can be tricky sons of b's.

if you have a yellow jacket hose, remove the adjustable core depressor from that and see if it will screw into the hose gasket on the coupler. if it fits get a bag of adjustable core depressors yellow jacket number 19302. Otherwise I agree the Y.J. coupler is good.

Glenn Harrison , the Bluvac coupler's depressor is fixed. I could try the other side, though I don't think it has a stopper. Thanks for watching Glenn.
