    Mine only shows 2 digits on the micron screen. All the digits work when your scrolling through the different readings. Not sure what’s wrong with it.

    My fav micron gauge by far, I’ve owned 3. I use them for about 3 years then resell and buy a new one, I always keep them in the case and clean with alcohol every 5 vacuums

      Mine works fine and doesn't leak at all.
      I think if you are careful and take care of it, it will work for years without leaking.

      Mine leaks brand new out of the box, on the first evac. Was hoping he was gonna break down the connection side of it as well. Guess ill have to do it… seeing as my Amazon return window is closed. I also have an email to CPS about it. Lots of reviews on Amazon stating the same.

    Try the gauge with the pump only to see how low it will go?

    Hi great video, I have a this gauge. I'm unable to get it out of low battery mode. Just shows dotted lines and a empty battery indicator. put a new battery in and cleaned the sensor with alcohol.
    Still the same.

  • @aashafy
    @aashafy 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Do you recommend to remove battery when not used for long time for one year or more
    And what's your opinion with micron guage probes which doesn't have screen like testo 552i

  • @WilliamVG

    What's the life expectancy of these gauges? During rugged everyday use, will these last a few years in service?

    • @NearFarMedia
      @NearFarMedia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They should easily last for many years as long as you take care of it and don't let the battery leak inside.
      There are no wear parts, basically the only maintenance needed is an occasional wash with isopropyl alcohol inside the pipe fitting where the sensor sits.

    what kind of vacuum PUMP is that? do you share make/model?

    • @NearFarMedia

      It's a slightly older Tasco brand pump, a popular Japanese brand. They don't make this one anymore it seems but you can see their catalogue here:

    Great info, but which way does the battery get installed?

    • @NearFarMedia
      @NearFarMedia  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The battery should only be able to go in one way, but the +ve terminal of the 9V battery goes to the top connection.

    I'm new to hvac.. if I have the fieldpiece SMAN 380V manifold would I even need the CPS vacuum gauge? I have both already that's why I'm asking.

    • @NearFarMedia
      @NearFarMedia  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not familiar with the SMAN, you'd have to check if it has a micron gauge function built in.

  • @luis2012174
    @luis2012174 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hello ,can you tell me why is my cps micron gauge is turning off by itself while is working with the vacuum?

    • @NearFarMedia
      @NearFarMedia  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It has an automatic timeout to turn itself off after 5 minutes so the batteries don't run flat.
      It happens to me too, so I just turn it on again. There doesn't seem to be a way to disable the automatic shutoff unfortunately, so you'll just have to turn it back on when it turns itself off..

      I just checked now, it measures to three decimal points on the Inches of Mercury range.

    I've got the same vacuum gauge. You mentioned, "if it stabilized above 3000" be looking for issues. Why that figure 3000? Does this mean, at that level of vacuum it is unlikely to be a leak in the pipe, and more likely to be off gassing, etc? Signed: Inexperienced

    • @NearFarMedia
      @NearFarMedia  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      3000 micron means a good enough vacuum for aircon applications. Lower is always better though.
      If it slowly rises, you need to check for leaks as air is getting in somewhere.
      I can routinely get down to the low hundreds on a new install, getting around or even under 500 micron shouldn't bee too hard, so it's always good practice to let the vacuum pump run for half an hour or so to make sure you have as much of the air out as possible.

      @@NearFarMedia 3000??? Its 500 or lower.. I usually dont charge larger systems until I get 300

    • @Kevin-ib4gv
      @Kevin-ib4gv 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      3000 is too high. Holding at 500 is great. 1000 or below you're good. 1000 to 2000 means condensables, (air, gases) moisture, or even a small leak. Evacuate again and/or fix small leak. Above 2000, definite leak. All micron gauges will rise after pump is turned off because of the power of the pump is pulling down on the vacuum. Once that vacuum action is cancelled, (pump off) there is just that much LESS pulling vacuum and the microns increase. Other factors apply as well as he stated, but remember you are in microns which is a very small unit of measurement. This is why it's used to check for leaks as even the tiniest leak will show up causing microns to increase.

    • @lancetyrell7575
      @lancetyrell7575 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Go for 300 micron if it's goes up back to 500 micron that's good. 3000 is way to high
