Best option for a $1000. Lightweight carry-on with no black box. Picture looks as good as anything out there in my opinion. That'll get the job done for sure 👍🏼 another good video 👍🏼
I spent a day and a half with this rod as a primary one I was using and I have to say, I am very happy with it and impressed, good rod, glad to have it as a part of my arsenal 😊
Alex can you show how you attached your transducer to your pole ? I just bought an eagle eye and don’t know how to attach the transducer to my clam pole . Thanks !
Could you show how your transducer is mounted to the HD Innovations pole? I have the same pole for it but trying to find the best way to mount the transducer to it.
So here's the review I've been waiting for. As for clarity looks way cleaner then the ps-22 (which I'm still using). How's the lag time? Time from when jigging till you see it jig on screen
@AlexTimm can you run an ice transducer at the same time like the 22? How's interference with other brands like marcum? Sorry for so many questions, I have a 93uhd (not the 2) with complete ice setup, which is way better than a simple flasher. But this whole setup by lawrence is cheaper than me upgrading to the black box, the 32 or 34, and new shuttle to fit it all.
For a budget friendly option to get live imagining it is in my early opinion the best that I have seen so far at such a low price. Don't get me wrong though, if you can afford a full featured transducer like the LVS32 or the LVS34 I would much rather use that (also if your scenario isn't significantly limited by weight)
Buddy of mine just got one. I use the active target 2. While overall the AT2 is better I am seriously considering grabbing a Eagle Eye 9 for ice fishing so I don't have to mess around with taking my AT2 off the boat every year
I have about $3300 into my livescope and a majority of of the time it’s just used for entertainment. The eagle 9 would have checked off most of my boxes and would have saved me alot of money.
Alex - The most important info you need to find out about the Eagle Eye transducer is if its ANY different from Garmin's LVS12? Please find that out! Thx!
It is similar to the LVS12 in terms of technically how they are able to make it work, both use 1/3 of the transmitting beams as their larger big brother either the Active Target 2 or the Garmin Livescope Transducers. (In fact both the LVS12 and the Eagle Eye both have / had the exact same beam angles of 30 degrees in down or forward.) The biggest thing here that Lowrance did is they made it compatible with a really good quality, yet budget screen option, whereas the LVS12 only worked with the high end screens from Garmin (Echomap Ultra 106sv or 126sv or the GPSMAP 8400/8600 series)... To me this is the big reason the LVS12 failed, if someone is going to spend multiple thousands on screens, they aren't going to cut corners on a transducer. I think Lowrance nailed it here. Let me know if you have other questions
@@AlexTimm I agree on the price issue of compatible LVS12 screens, but the LVS12 is like 5 years old, screen tech back then required the more expensive units to process the single beam FFS... it just seems like Lowrance is marketing it like it's new FFS tech (they don't list a single spec of the transducer anywhere) when all they did was make a new model line that has this transducer plug-in on the back...Garmin could do the same if they didn't use a unique LVS12 transducer plug-in, I don't see them releasing a new Echomap lineup with the yellow 12 pin port..
@@208flatheads3 Single 30 degree cone FFS transducer that does NOT require a GLS10 Black Box, but does require an Ultra 106 or GPS86xx head unit...it can display Forward and Down mode at the same time on split screen without repositioning the transducer
Please help. I’m glad you made this video, never knew this existed. Now I have a dilemma. My buddy is selling his LVS34, Black Box, and the Garmin 106SV for $1800. Should I just fork up the money and pick up the LVS34? Or would this be more than enough for me? All I do is kayak fishing and Ice fishing.
Shuttle, battery, screen, ducer, pole all together weighed in at 9lbs 13oz as seen on the ice (minus the gopro). I was using a 7.5ah Amped Outdoors Lithium battery
@ so no different than an Ultra 106 + LVS12 setup, plus you get the benefit of a bigger screen with better resolution...the 7.5AH battery will only get 3-4 hours though...
I think that is who this unit is perfect for! And it even carries through to the screen they partnered it up with, simple user interface, just a few options, but more than enough to get the job done. I am impressed, a well put together package!
Considering this is Lowrance's competition to the ps22 would you really say it is that much better? The cone angle looks very small, definition might be a bit better but that cone angle is really really small. Guessing hummingbird will have to come out with a cheaper model now.
Pros and cons here. I think the quality of the image, the target separation and speed of the transducer are much better on the Eagle Eye vs the PS22. The PS22 will get you a wider cone angle and further distance though. If I had to choose, between the two I would get the Eagle Eye 9 considering it is also less expensive and a larger/better screen than what Garmin packages with it's PS22 options. I honestly hope Garmin re-releases the LVS12 but partnered with a more budget conscious screen like Lowrance did. Garmin could have launched this 7 years ago
AT has like 3 angles put together for wider image vs the single angle you see in the video of the ducer from eagle eye. The 3 are spliced together kinda well but at time can be seen
Yeah, totally get it. It won't be the best option for all scenarios, but it is what allows it to be at the price point and weight that it is. Trust me, this will not be replacing my LVS32 or LVS34 setups, but I think it may find its way into a nice comfortable seat for hole hopping / lightweight setup. I will also add, it was something that took me a little bit to get used to, but after playing around with placement of the pole / transducer, zoom, range, etc. I was able to make this work so the beam angle wasn't really too much of an issue (or at least that I knew as I couldn't see what I was missing haha, but definitely fishable!)
The biggest mistake Garmin made was taking away the LVS12. A year after the discontinuation of it, I tried to build a light setup for the LVS12 but couldn't find it anywhere for sale.
@warhmonger yeah, but the one thing they needed to do was make it compatible with lower end more affordable screens like Lowrance has. They should probably re-release it like that as direct competition to the Eagle Eye 9 in my opinion
I made a Ultra106/LVS12 Hole Hopper Shuttle using the original Garmin Livescope Bag and shuttle, it works great and only weighs 14lbs, you can get closer to 10 lbs without a shuttle and bag but I like to keep my electronics protected... The LVS12's are hard to find now, especially after all of the years of the BPS/Cabelas Black Ultra 106 Friday sales putting more units in consumers hands who then tried the LVS12...I don't think Garmin will re-release it as it requires its own special cord plug-in that none of the existing 9" and under EchoMaps have...
I just got one of these and dropped it into one 50ish ft hole, and the side imaging was way weird and ineffective to me, the down was great though. Mid 20s side view was normal. Haven't fished it that much yet.
@@zbassr2106 I was on the verge of getting a 9" screen w/ 32 ducer in livescope, but hated the thought of a 23 lb unit for the fishing I like to do, then saw the EE9 and so far I like it to love it. I figured I'd fish it for a while and return it if I don't like it. My lower back isn't as tough as it used to be so that was a big factor, and just being able to hole hop and use it like my little Helix.
@@aaronalto3034 isn't that the whole point of FFS though? Being able to clearly discern 100ft away in Forward view to locate structure and fish? I'm not saying the EE9 is a bad unit, i love the idea of not having to manually adjust the Transducer when switching modes on the fly.
There is a forward mode (though still a 45 degree angle beam so you lose what is directly below) but you don't have to reposition the transducer to access it. Of course it's not like a full livescope setup but it's $1000 USD for the ducer and head unit for a reason.

I'll see what I can find deeper water around where I fish and test it out, I will also be testing in forward mode at a distance too
