    I've been a fan since I first heard Mahogany Rush in 1976 on either The Midnight Special or Don Kirshner's Rock Concert. I've even caught Frank live in Sellersville twice. Fantastic musician.

    Wow, that's chilling listening to that story today. It's remarkable Frank made so much forward progress for such a troubled kid. I love his music. The man is a class act.

    I love Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush. One of my favorite bands alongside Yes and Jefferson Starship, and Jethro Tull.
    Frank Marino and the other musicians had God given talented. The drummer was amazing. They were a wonderful band.
    I empathize with Frank Marino. He was better than many other guitarists (and not to say there haven't been other talented guitarists), but we wasn't promoted because he was a Christian, and he was moral. He wanted to have a wife and children, and the COD just didn't want to promote the family unit.
    They wanted to promote pornography, drugs, and bizarre music videos and covers like what the Rolling Stones did.
    He and his band members struggled on, I compare myself with Frank Marino (even though I'm not a talented musician), but I have the same struggles that he does.
    And Frank Marino reminds me of what my dad and mom said, to never limited myself. So I won't, and I will do many things.
    He's an inventor, a father, a pizza maker, a race car driver, and a talented musician.
    I appreciate his Christian songs and renditioning of Christmas hymns, most guitarists wouldn't do it. I'm an Orthodox Christian and I appreciate it, I think all Christians whether Orthodox, Coptic, Roman Catholic or Protestant would agree that not enough bands would be bold enough to sing a song honoring God.
    My favorite songs are For your love, Juggernaut, These Dreams, and Dragonfly, that I think is where David Bowie got his sound beat for Fame; he just quickened it up, but I could be wrong about that. It's been a long time since I listened to Fame. I also love his rendition of All Along The Watchtower.
    God bless Frank Marino, all I can say is, his music is a lot better than all the horrible rap/pop music that they play in the stores today.

    I remember hearing this years ago, subsequently rock magazine writers and radio DJ's twisted Frank's words around started rumors and so forth about the hospital and Hendrix connection. It's great that the actual interview is here all these years later.

      I also heard that the Recording company wanted to create a story to attract intrigue to his asskickin guitar playing.

    Frank was so underated! He should have been recognized for what he was, a bad Joe on the guitar. Awesome, totally awesome! He didnt need the acid story.

    • @ETericET
      @ETericET 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have to agree with you. I think the acid story and how it was twisted by media killed his chances of deserved recognition. Well .. I just bought a nice SG and Frank and what he could get it to do was a deciding factor :)

    Aloha from Hawaii,
    I think I might have first heard him in 1975 on midnight special or Don Krusthers rock concert which my friends & me watched all the time. Them shows turned us onto the new bands playing rock music .
    But I think I started listening to him in early 1976.
    I still listen to him today & I'm 66 😉🤙

    guy fries his brain on acid at 14, starts to play guitar in a nut ward and is a international rockstar at 16,
    THERE IS NO ACID THAT WILL DO THAT
    the guys just a genius,
    the acid part is just accidental

      roman14032 Incidentally, he added an E to 'Frank' in 1975 for numerological reasons; he was into mysticism in general back then, methinks ( IV...The Emperor is a card in the Tarot deck) .

    Man I thought I was an acid head eating 2 or 3 hits at a time. But holy cow man how many brain cells do you have left Franky? And can still function on a fretboard! God must have His hand on you

    • @johnnywinter8892
      @johnnywinter8892 ปีที่แล้ว

      I read many articles where I learned that LSD is one of the rare if not the only drug that has absolutely NO secondary effects at all on brain or body! Even if a massive dose will last for quite a while, everything eventually returns to the same normal state at it was before the acid trip. I know... it is hard to believe...
      Back in the 80's we had very potent stuff here in Canada... Spongy blotter paper was a hell of a ride.
      We once met a dude from California who sold us
      ''Blue Glass'' : a purple gelatin pyramid containing a generous dose of LSD. It was expensive, 10$ each.
      As the stranger was about to move on, one of my friends swallowed 2 of them... he stopped, stared at him with a smile and said : Bon Voyage my friend!
      That intense trip lasted something like 1,5 days!
      We still talk about it 40 years later!
      And our brain cells seem to be working fine...
