The radio could cache up to 15 minutes think it was, just wish it somehow had AM radio, since especially back then, most sports stations and broadcasts of games, were on AM
This was the first iPod that I bought exclusively for gym and running. At the time, phones were way to heavy and cumbersome to have on while exercising. It was fucking amazing.
You can add more apps, voice memos, composers, genre, playlists, genius mixes, songs, books and iTunes U. Most of these can be added in settings and voice memos is activated when you plug in headphones
I'm someone who collects iPods. I'm so glad you called this an iPod nano because so many get this confused with the iPod shuffle. You would not believe how many times that I said iPod shuffle then somebody shows me a picture of that
Reminds me of my first cell phone that has the same background as an original gameboy screen. It had 8 options on the “internet” it was all text of course and was limited to such categories as: news/weather/sports/stocks/business and 3 others. That was with my first cell phone I had in sophomore year of college, although I got it freshman year of college. Back then no one had a cell phone even at the rich school I went to in Orange County California. This was a school in which most people’s first cars were brand new $28,000 cars on average with maybe a dozen Benz’s and beamers and some classic cars like a Chevy Corvair (67), a Chevy el Camino (73), a few 60’s mustangs, a Chevy Malibu (68) and a few others I can’t think of off the top of my head.
I just bought one today. Brand new and sealed for $134.99. Checked the serial number before. Everything fine. So excited for it to arrive. It will be awesome for the gym or sports in general 🤗.
Fun fact, this iPod nano was given away to those who owned certain models of the 1st gen iPod nano during a very lately timed recall. I sent off a very broken obsolete 1st gen n received this in return for free, I miss that level of customer service lol
I had a 6th gen nano from my mom, but we didn't have apple's ecosystem so I only used the radio function. It died when I accidentally forgot to take it out of my pocket when washing my pants.
Going from a Nano 6, to a Series 0, to a Series 4, to a Series 7 to the Ultra has been such an experience. Cant wait to upgrade to the Series X later this year!
True. It'd be nice if apple would make a modern iPod just for music without any app store or distractions. But they won't. They could market it with apple music or some such. So often when I open my phone to turn on a song or change a podcast I get caught up in (a few minutes, or longer) of nonsense other stuff I'm pulled into when I see an app icon. And it's all wasted time. I've gotten a lot more disciplined and do that less and less but still...
@@Kelson01 That’s what the iPod touch is supposed to be for, but it doesn’t actually solve that problem well. I often find myself wanting to just literally listen to music, so I get out my iPod touch, and end up browsing the internet instead. lol
I just found my dad’s iPod gen 3 laying in the garage, used the charger from my old iPhone 4 to charge the iPod (don’t ask me why k still have the charger for it) plugged in the earbuds, and it had some banger music (I found it today)
Honestly I think Apple made this thing to be the prototype for the Apple Watch. They probably knew people would wear it like one after all. Especially since the first Apple Watch released only 5 years later… the design is similar in many ways too. Plus they never revisited this as the final nano took on a more “fit bit / mini iPhone” look.
Fascinating! I thought this was the shuffle. 😅 good stuff! Such a cool little device! I really miss that old ios 5 look! Also, if they can fit the headphone jack onto this, then why can't we have it on modern phones! like c'mon, man! Wild. 😅😆😔
Question that's been on my mind: is it even possible to find the batteries for these anymore? Watching a lot of reviews on the old ipods, this model seems to have a significantly iffy battery life compared to some of the others. Which isn't exactly surprising, given these are at least a decade old, and I doubt they produce the batteries anymore. I can hope, I guess. I think I would only get one of these if I could guarantee at least one battery replacement, but it's nice to think about getting one of these to carry around while skating. That would be perfect!
My sister bought this as her iWatch. I believe Apple didn't like the 5th Gen nano being treated as a wristwatch, but third parties keep making watch accessories for it.
Bought one in pristine condition in 2022 for 30€ because I didn't want to carry my huge phone in pocket for listening music, it is really awesome iPod, I used to clip it on my pants while using it, it always had excellent sound quality
Though it would be kind of a waste of apples time, I think it would’ve been kind of cool if they took the iPod nano seven and made it kind of like the touch screen iPod. Not necessarily with a camera, but able to download and install apps & such.
“How do you use it” ha well back in my day kiddo… hahahah you really make me feel old, when I’m 25, these products are simple, they were designed simply and without too many apps because a) we didn’t need them b ) not enough storage capacity and battery.
I had a watch band for mine! That radio app was awesome!
first gen apple watch :skull:

Best technology ever created. I rinsed out one for these for 8 years until it died. I wish they'd remake it with Apple Music and wi-fi
The best iPod Shuffle that never was.

Sick bro 👍
Series 0 apple watch lets go
Nice 👍
the ipod nano was the first piece of tech i ever got... when i was in 2nd grade my parents gifted it to me for keeping straight a's in school all year
PLEASE get a watch strap for this thing

Mine still works fine, good battery life
I still have it.. and that best part is, its battery is still very good
i had this as a kid, i loved it so much cause it was so small but could carry all the music a kid could need.
That is the nanoest of all ipod nanos.
I used to have one of these. I loved it. I accidentally washed it and it went kaput. I've been trying to find another.

i used to have one of these. used it from 2011 to 2017.
I have a pink 8 gb iPod Nano I wear as a watch. For the headphone port, I have a cute dust plug charm I got from Etsy. It’s a star with beads.
the fact that it only lasted one hour…but how did this guy just hold it for an hour???
Uhhh it’s 1 second 💀 it’s not sped up
@@pretty_boredif it was one second…it would’ve been long dead
I remember when the apple watch came out everyone was saying "it's just a nano."
I loved mine! Had it in green and it went everywhere with me until it died in 2014
I have one of these still. Need to replace the battery. It does more than my current watch 😱🤣

“Please plug in headphones to use radio” that’s the only thing I remember from iPods
Cool used to have one with the actual watch strap. Those things were sick back then
Honestly, this UI is way better than the tiny honeycomb blah (or uninspired list view) they have on the Apple Watch.
Never had one of these but I imagine with the watch band it was the best way to run with headphones in before Bluetooth was super common.
I had one, I’d loved it, wouldn’t go anywhere without it.
Apple gave me one of these when they recalled a batch of first gen Nanos with bad batteries.
7th gen is the nicest
I agree

They fit a headphone jack in that small iPod but does the iPhone 7 was too small 🤔

There’s actually a voice memo app if you have a head phone with microphones
