It's almost insultingly simple looking back on it now, but Apple's marketing to get the iPod aesthetic in the mainstream was nothing short of genius. Those white headphones were legitimately a style flex at the time, people who couldn't afford iPods were buying _just_ the headphones themselves for style points
Most people today don't remember how much Apple struggled before the success of iTunes and the iPod line. The Macs were respected, but the company was not doing fantastic when it came to actual profits. The iTunes was also such an important part of the iPod's success because it was very well designed and easy to use even for non-techy people.
Style is cyclical, the 70s looked like this too. People will say style now is tacky in 10 years, underrated/ahead of its time in 20 and itll be back again in 30.

I would go to class listening to music, looking outside the bus windows, then go to work, and then go home just in time to watch Jon Stewart and Colbert back to back on Comedy Central until I fell asleep. I would always have winamp on at night, that was a must. Then during the weekend I would melt my brain on DDO with friends. It was a great time. I think whoever was lucky enough to have hit 25 before 2020 has lived through some great times. Already seeing 2010s nostalgia and it’s great. I hope this decade overall is kind to young adults and y’all have a good time too
