I know my phone CAN play music, but i prefer to use my phone's memory for games and photos, not songs! I am dreading the day ipods disappear entirely :(
iPods never die, the battery just becomes too old. You take your iPod to get a new battery installed and then it’s good as new. The only problem is that as time goes by the batteries for the iPod become harder to find.
Important note: most iPod nanos are affected by battery expansion and for reason are a fire hazard. They were very small which allows no headroom for expansion and causes black spots on the screen. Swollen batteries were hard to repair on some models because it involves soldering and you have to slide the internals out. Due to this, Apple recalled the first generation of the nano in 2011 and the iPod nano lineup is the most notorious one amongst the iPod community.
THIS gives me memories! Before I worked for Apple, I couldn't afford an iPhone, so I bought iPods's and the iPod touch up to the 5th gen and then I got a job offer and my first iPhone was iPhone XS max. I use my iPod mainly for alarms and occasionally as a backup music device in case my phone runs out of battery (my iphone 6s desperately needs a battery replacement). I have such good childhood memories of playing games and recording funny videos using my iPod. I've owned it since 2012 and it still has not a single crack on the screen.
