They've adapted to human habitation, as have coyotes and other wildlife. Remember during the pandemic how many animals ventured in closer, and many have remained since then.
It’s a hybrid wolf. He has a home and probably got out. Wolves instinctively know to stay away from human habitat. Poor fella is just scared and trying to get back home. Wolves are much slimmer and taller.
I seen one while on vacation in Georgia. I was on foot and it was maybe 30ft away from me. As a dog breeder, i knew it wasn't a dog. I walked out of sight, then ran faster than I had ever ran b4 in my adult life
Next thing you know this will end up being a whole conspiracy when some computer nerd makes the wolf transform into a man. Then they’ll be calling it a skinwalker for views smh
No need to fear wolves, they don’t prey on humans except as a last resort, i.e. if they are cornered or you stumble into their den creating the need for them to protect their young. Arctic wolves in large packs will rarely attack humans as a last resort to avoid starvation. The wolf sighting in Georgia seems extremely unlikely. The red wolf (smaller than the northern Frey wolf) used to live in that region in great numbers, but they were killed off in less than a century and the last confirmed red wolf down there was shot in 1908 in the Okefenokee Swamp. When Europeans settled the states, they brought with them an unfounded and exaggerated fear of wolves stemming from the way wolves have long been portrayed in folklore and fairytales. The red wolf is practically extinct except for a very small number that live in remote parts Mexico. The northern gray wolf was also hunted to near extinction. A bounty was set that paid hunters a decent fee for wolf pelts in their native areas - Minnesota, Montana, Wyoming, etc. and within a relatively short period of time they were wiped out from those regions as well. There’s even a street in Montana constructed entirely out of wolf skulls. They were so easy to hunt because for thousands of years they lived peacefully among the native Americans, so they didn’t develop a healthy fear of humans and co-existed peacefully, lurking near native tribes in the dead of winter hoping for scraps of meat to help sustain them when other prey became scarce. Eventually they learned to avoid all contact with humans and the ones that survived the mass extermination migrated further and further north like the buffalo and huge herds of elk. The wolves kept these herds healthy by killing off the sick and weak members of the herds which kept diseases from potentially decimating whole herds of Buffalo and Elk, i.e. a symbiotic relationship existed between them. When we killed off nearly all of the wolves south of Canada, we weakened and killed off the great herds of buffalo that once roamed the plains. To sum up, it took wildlife biologists until the 70’s to fully grasp this. So, they began to reintroduce wolves to areas like Yellowstone and Glacier parks and this enabled the return of large herds of buffalo, elk, reindeer… to begin growing large healthy herds again. Of course, there was a lot of human opposition to this program due to our baseless fears of wolves and farmers who were worried that the wolves would prey on their livestock, which did happen on occasion, but not often as you might think. Because they put trackers on the reintroduced wolves, they would find the dead ones that had been shot by farmers. Years of back and forth angry debate ensued, but eventually the wolves won out as it is now illegal to kill a wolf, same as if you kill a bald eagle, another majestic animal we nearly wiped out with pesticides and other pollutants that are now thankfully banned.

I'd bet money that the second one is a wolf dog hybrid, lost and can't find his house after he took off for a stroll.
Isn't it the same one that was just running? But I agree with you. I've never seen a full blood wolf that was so stocky.
