- This is Austonley Irish Wolfhounds a day in the life video, giving a brief insight in to what a day can look like for us. From 5:30am walks, to feeding 13 of our four-legged companions, it's certainly a handful but we couldn't be happier!

Imagine walking alone through a heavily forested area and from a far seeing this man walking with a pack of huge dogs. You would nearly mistake him for walking with a wolf pack. Beautiful animals

Beautiful animals indeed but they look so far from wolves that I would never mistake them for a wolf pack. Yes they are big but look like hounds. The white, solid black, or black sable German shepherd if larger looks much wolfier for obvious reasons.

We have an Irish wolfhound and she is gentlest, most loving, intuitive dog I’ve ever shared my life with. Watching her run and lope in the fields is truly meditative.

We had a pair of these beautiful creatures when I was growing up. Such sweet, soulful, loving dogs. I still remember the look in their eyes..... it was as if they were seeing something from a far-off distant past. I'll never forget them.

Made my hair stand up seeing them walking through the rows standing pines.
They look so naturally part of the woods. Also how quiet they are and how the keep on stopping and looking back at ya. Like a pack!!!

it's the kind word of 1 passionate based only on 1 single breed and type of dog, nothing else, I knew this breed of dog too but it is like all dogs, there are good and very bad ones, while i have 1 breed of dog with short hair from irish south but not official from the office (of cork and kerry) preferred i can also say the exact same word, but being 1 dog lovers also i say i love all dogs after yes I have dogs that I love more than others including 1 but that even the nicknames Irish clubs have never formalized their dog on which some lines of this dog depend
Debbie Dunn Over the years among the different breads i have owned i have had 4 Irish Wolfhounds including two rescue. They were all wonderful loving dogs. I did not even mind the chewing when they were puppies. Although a friend had her Wolfound chew her piano - a bit drastic. How I still wish i had one of these lovely dogs although I have an adorable crossbreed Cockapoo at the moment but I am 80 and my health is not good. I never the loving times i had with them.
@@sophie1940 our youngest is chewing things at the moment, it is hard work keeping up with her, with buffalo horns, roots, chews toys, frozen veg etc etc

I lived in a forested country years ago. I had a stray I called Daisy. Every dog that went to the end of the "street" was evidently shot -- at least never seen again. Some time later, from that direction came a full grown Irish Wolfhound. He was I assumed him to be lonely, because when I walked down toward the end of the street he ran to me like I was his long lost momma. & he was SO friendly. He always ran lad mad toward me & jumped up w/ paws, forelegs wrapped around my neck. I adored him. Gradually it became clear to me that he had no companion animals, that everyone who walked down that road was terrified of him because of his size, & being simply a full grown puppy was full of enthusiasm. But the owner evidently got him not because he was fond of dogs but to keep people & other dogs away. I had to learn to brace myself against his enthusiasm or I'd be knocked on my back. That would have been delightful if a mattress were on the road behind me. We'd have had a hug fest. I've never been afraid of any canine. I may have been his only friend. Damn.

I took in a dog that looked like a wolf that no one around here wanted. He was thin and his back was bald in the middle of winter. My loyal dog passed away a month before and I was absolutely heartbroken. I felt like she sent this dog to me for help. I took him to the vet and spoiled him rotten. Turns out he is a German Shepherd and Husky mix. He won't leave my side.

The first 30 seconds of this video told the story. There is a LOT of picking up after your dog(s). Now I appreciate how easy we had it with only an English Cocker Spaniel. We miss him. He had a great soul.

The owner of an antique store I used to visit had one, his name was Buddy. I only stopped in there maybe twice a year, and that dog loved me. Every time I would go in, he would come right to me like I was his owner. He was a great dog, friendly as they come. I miss Buddy, he's gone now.

It's so easy to see how cared for these gorgeous furry people are! Everything from the the basic thoughtfulness of the elevated bowls, to the change in demeanor when the pack was moving at the slower speed of the person filming, and then picked up the pace and had fun when the camera was fixed in place with everyone walking by together, shows a group of beings who care for each other. Thanks for all the hard work caring for these sweeties and for sharing this with us!

Had one for 10 1\2 years. Still miss him
I know what you mean. After all these years I still remember and miss all my beloved dogs among them 4 wolfhounds. My last rescue dog a sweet little Jack Russell died 2 years ago at 17 after being with us 6 years and I am sure I still see him wandering about the house. Among my Wolfhounds I had 2 rescue ones but unfortunately being wolfhounds they both had very short lifespans.Some people use to say to me Why do you have a dog with such a short lifespan? They could not understand that it is the any time of life they can have with you hopefully you will be able to give them the best and you love them.
Brilliant, all these amazing dogs are so well behaved & well looked after.
Its great to see so many Wolfhounds all living happily & content together,full respect to the owners.
Every part of a Wolfhound is rewarding. I often say it’s not an ownership but a stewardship!❤️

Such beautiful dogs. I had a Yorkshire Terrier called Pip for 14 glorious years. He completely owned me and he new it. I totally admire the love and devotion you give to these magnificent animals.
My favorite dogs. Beautiful. I love nice big farm dogs, and those guys are so well trained and easy going. Very happy, well trained, mellow dogs, with a wonderful mellow family. Just the way it's meant to be. Perfect family life. Well coordinated, no drama or chaos, calm, comfortable, easy going teamwork.

It's been twenty years and I still hear the sound of him going round and round before dropping onto his bed with a contented sigh. Miss you son.
I was fortunate to have adopted 3 IWs (consecutively) in my life. I owned a jewelry store and took them with me every day. They were always my best advertising. Often, people would walk by and think it’s a giant rug until they look again and then…exclamations! Big love and treats!

I had two of these fellas between 1980 and 1993. Erindale Traveller--family name Cullen and Lonsara Cetus--family name Finn. Happy days but I still feel the void of their passing, they leave a huge gap in the home.
Ive found the only way to fill that void is to get another, and start a new chapter.

Loved this! Shows the hard work and love that goes into caring for dogs - especially multiplied by so many! GSH are thought to be big dogs but your lovely Gsh was tiny compared to his pack mates! Then the whippet turned up and I nearly fell off my chair laughing 😁! Lovely!!

You folks are amazing last year I had 7 dogs here in our family I lost 2 end of 2019 to cancer, I know how much work is involved in keeping so many ....our dogs are family and sleep indoors at night and have the run of our fenced acre,

I’m in awe of your pack, from a 25 yr owner of wolfies, had a gang of 4 once, a lot of very hard work, poo picking, bucket filling and having nowhere to sit ourselves, 😂 . Now sadly down to probably our last as We’re getting on in years, but boy do you miss that great whippy tail and paw bats when they go. Great stuff guys and so so happy to see such a joyous group.
That whippy tail and thumpy tail, as well as the cute expressive "eyebrows".
That's so much patience and energy to take care of these animals, really great.
And at the end of the day, everbody is happy. Good work, dog-mama!!!

Best dog ever, but must be fed really good quality food, especially as a growing puppy, and must be trained never to jump up at people, walk well, never scrounge, and preferably never go up stairs (ultimately bad for their hips) Food and water need to be raised up a bit too. Our old wolfhound also loved fruit, especially pears, and would actually gently steal them from the fruit bowl !! Strange thing is , they are way better than a little dog because they never get "under your feet", or run around the house like nutters. Calm, very loving and quiet, these are fantastic dogs.

Thank you for the video, my 2nd home is in Timber Wolf country northern Minnesota. One way to tell when the Wolves are around the more vocal Coyotes leave the area. Wolves don't tolerate Coyotes. the Wolves have a large territory and are always on the move. There are many Black Bears in the area as well, they are also good neighbors staying busy ALWAYS looking for food. I have thought about getting a dog but it's a hazardous area for domestic pets. Porcupines are common and the area Skunks can have rabies so dogs need to be watched at all times. So for now I'm holding off on a dog, some of my neighbors dogs end up going missing regularly.

I remembered how hard the work was, and what a tremendous responsibility it is to provide the proper nutrition and exercise for them.
I'm deeply grateful 🙏 that you reminded me of not of the loss... but of the wonderful memories, and love they gave us 🤲 that never really fades away 💞.
