      I would go too, with a group, if they cleared off the land and made it a tourist attraction. See nothing wrong with that. It's historic, however tragic. They could have created a memorial for the victims.

    I'm surprised they didn't come across any snakes in that thick jungle as they were walking with all of that thick vegetation and especially when they sat on the tractor and in the truck where you're even more apt to find snakes hiding and other creatures for that matter. In fact, other than birds singing in the trees you don't even see monkeys anywhere around there or any other animals for that matter. Strange I thought.

    I hate to hear someone say "the people committed suicide" They did not, they were all murdered. Does not matter if they drank that poison voluntarily or not, they were in one way or another forced, murdered by JJones.

    • @TheBrownIsland

      Still suicide by many who were willing and encouraged others to drink. Some had weaker minds than others. Many left the Cult a few years and months prior. Especially since they practiced mass suicide drills with poisonless drinks multiple times. They knew that day would come and had many chances. Family members and ex-Cult members tried to talk sense into their heads but they wouldn't listen. It was just too late by November of 1978. The Children, Teens, Young Adults, Elderly and those who finally came to their senses when the poison drinks were given to them but they refused, were Murdered by Injection. The others committed suicide. It's rightfully called a Murder-Suicide.

    • @tarialorehand
      @tarialorehand 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      they did for a couple of years after that day, but then decided that it wasn't worth keeping it, because it wasn't their responsibility and let the jungle reclaim it. Most of the buildings were torn down and used for wood in the near by town and what they couldn't use they burned. The rest was just left here. Someone erected a memorial stone in honor of the victims and it stands near the entrance now. (as far as I can recall the area around it is being maintained.) There was a documentary I watched a couple of days ago showing it. I can't remember the name of it.

      TheCarin12 There are thousands of pieces of individual evidence to back up all the litany of events that happened there.
      Jonestown definitely fucking happened. ~900 people definitely lost their lives.
      Read the survivor accounts, including the eyewitnesses at the actual event (e.g. Stanley Clayton). They all confirm the events as they played out happened.
      Go learn something before you spout such stupid bullshit such as that it didn't happened:

  • @sisophous

    I heard the jungle reclaimed the area but these two guys did not really find anything of interest. I would think a lot more would have turned up from those days as no one is going to go through the hassle of removing every item. The military sealed it off for some time, some ten years after a few guarded it in isolation. I can't imagine the Guyanese government would bother stationing anyone there more than 10 years later. It is likely silent now.

      mykenwood830 I totally agree with you on this one and I wouldn't want to go there as well even as tempting as it would be if some local was an excellent guide like this pilot and would take me and some others. I would literally be afraid I would have something evil enter me while I was there even around that airstrip 6 miles from Jonestown. Evil never dies! Satan is alive just as much as God and that's a fact! And I repeat ... Evil never dies. Once a horrific sadistic tragedy such as this took place and in such an area as this there HAS to be something evil left behind and although it looks like a very peaceful heavenly paradise there with all the vegetation grown over whatever was there during Jonestown's day never left even after its demise. With God's return all evil in this world will be washed away and true heaven on earth and peace with the Almighty will reign in His Kingdom as it should be. Amen!

      There are recordings of the people voluntarily taking the drink. It was a murder-suicide. Those who refused and were injected with Poison were killed. Some who flee were shot. Those were murders. The Kids were all kids they refused to drink. The others could be heard agreeing to take the Flavor Aid and encouraging others to do so. *_There were far too many Practice mass suicide drills with poisonless drinks and constant Rants from this Guy over the speaker about them preparing to one day commit mass suicide for a lot of them to still Not flee like the Others. They knew that day would come and had many chances._*
      Family members and ex-Cult members tried to talk sense into their heads whenever they spoke, but they wouldn't listen. It was just too late by November of 1978. Survivors spoke about Jonestown during radio, magazine, and TV interviews over the decades about life there and Jim Jones.

    It certainly is a fertile area; there are abandonded areas in my town that still have all the buildings and walkways decades later.

      Calling BS. There's film where Jone's two sons returned in 1998. No buildings at all, and that was after 20 years. They found remnants of the piano and part of a barrel at where the Pavilion used to be. I imagine anything metal (like the filing cabinet) still could be found, but there sure wasn't any furniture.

      By about late 85 there was nothing left of Jonestown, the site was maintained till about early 81 and mostly looted after that. A fierce fire destroyed most of what was left in mid 85 or so. Then the place just became overgrown and reclaimed by the jungle after that. Nothing was there in 2009. This footage is from 2003 and it's is totally overgrown.
