This is the truth. We are sending messages that God's house is nothing more than a playground. At our church, kids are running in and out during the entire mass. There's chaos there, instead of peace. We had to find another church where the Latin Mass was being said. Much more reverent. Thank you for this video.
I have noticed when attending the TLM... that there are more children and the baby voices are a welcome sound. I have also noticed that my daughter Gemma always falls asleep at the TLM... I think it is the peace she feels and the beautiful chanting.

So I'm not married...I don't have kids yet either. I can only hope my future husband is like you! I wish I had this much catechism knowledge when I was his age! I can admit to sometimes playing with toys in a crying room that the church stocked with toys. Your videos are always so great, and powerful. They open my eyes to ways I can grow or things I wish I was doing..or should do.
Love it! When my child was a baby, I refused to use the cry room because parents allowed kids to play with their toys. You are absolutely right they learn by example and it is a process. It takes a lot of patience, love and guidance. My son is 8 years old now and soon will be making his 1st Holy Communion. I now see other kids with electronics devices during mass and still wonder why haven't they learned to participate in mass. I also read in one of your comments we could share this info in the Church Website or bulletin, another great idea!!! God Bless

This is wonderful. My son is two years old and this is helpful. Although we do 'toys'. We have a special mass bag for mass only. Same with shoes and clothes. He knows that when we have out special clothes on we have to behave and before going in we talk about whisper voices. The whole time we will whisper what is happening. Plus in that bag is fun. We have rosaries, a coloring book, and pencils. the book has images I drew for him and he will 'draw' what is happening. this helps him feel like he is part of it all. If he acts really bad we go to the basement. Its not a lets run and play time but he sits still. we hold him down. so he has two choices. 1)sit being held down or, 2) sit up in the pews and hear the stories and learn. he prefers number 2. :)

With a family of 6 children, my folks always had us sit in the front row. Fewer distractions. :D Also, when my children were young, I'd hold my babies up facing the alter during the consecration of the eurcharist, and I'd whisper into their ear, this is the important part of mass. Children get it....

Both my children did very well at Mass. They were 10 years apart, so the older one was by herself for a long while. I don’t think I brought them to Mass before they were 3, because my husband was not a believer at that time, and so he stayed at home until I knew he could do well, which was about 3 years of age. In no time at all he was able to lead a decade of the Rosary with my Legion of Mary group. This was super good because we didn’t have family Rosary. I know young children can be taught with love, patience, and consistency. God bless you.

Bring your kidz 2 mass when they're young and impressionable and particularly receptive to God's grace! ! I love this! If I had kids they'd B at daily mass with me every day! I used to take daycare to mass daily at my last job. Alot of work but so rewarding !

Another home run! This is actually an issue for a lot of parents with young kids. The inconsistency from different parishes of proper child behavior at Mass makes it a confusing situation. One thing you did not address that I am curious about is the wife taking kid A and B to one mass and the father taking kids C and D to another to help improve their behavior. I thought I remember from Story of the Soul, St Therese of Lisieux's family doing this when she was too young.
Thank you for caring enough about your son, others in the congregation and most importantly, God, to teach your child to be respectful so others may worship too. So many parents don't bother anymore and Mass sounds more like a daycare center then a place of worship.

I do teach the children to respect God inside the church only bring bible read bible no read other story books toys except book related to church and God Jesus Mary its ok.. seat infront so they won’t be distracted by other things ... because children tend to see eveything distract they attention and hard to focus ...

We've chosen not to have a television in our home with the bombardment of uncensored junk infesting family life (selective screen time, yes) and chosen to homeschool our children - which has been met with much distaste from shepherds and faithful Catholics alike. It sounds like madness in this world to protect the innocence of our children. To each his own, but when it comes down to the final analysis, one has to look at priorities. The eternal souls of those entrusted by God into our care or the world's idea of 'success'. I admire your commitment to your vocation and how faithfully you carry out God's Will. Faithful Catholic parents need encouragement and some reality checks. The world and God's rules are in opposition.. one cannot marry the two... Please do a series of videos on family life in a Catholic context. It seems the one area that's lacking in practical teaching and yet, the very foundation of the Church.. the mini Church.
