Thanks for the shout out guys. I had a blast working with @tomwelling on this one. Glad to see you're all doing great. Now, "Come on, you're missing the party!" LoL
Tom would tell you but the worst product placement on Smallville was the cringey one with Stride Gum and that being how Pete returned on the show with super powers
Terrible, and yet somehow also iconic. It remains the most memorable and worst product placement of any TV show I've watched. And I watched a lot of Teen Wolf and The Vampire Diaries in full twice, so that's saying something 😂
The way Clark stood up for himself when his father confronted him is epic. He’s Superman. But had so much respect for his father and his father had so much respect for his son and the responsibility Clark has.

@@zachkleyh1295 oh, you are right. ;) But Tom mentioned, that wasnt in the script for Clark, he did that choice as an actor or it was a real tripping :D
I'm really surprised nobody - not the guys, not the callers - talked more about that scene. To me that scene is insane, and now I feel like I'm the only one who even thought twice about it! (Thank you Mark for acknowledging it haha.) This is SO MUCH MORE superspeed than we've ever seen before. Clark disappears from PLAIN VIEW OF A STADIUM OF PEOPLE to do superhero shit and gets back before anyone notices. That is MADNESS! That is a GAME. CHANGER. This is the definitive "so why do you need any other power but superspeed?" scene. I can't believe they just kind of strolled past it in the discussion haha. At least it was RFS, but even that seemed reluctant.
@st In season 3 resurrection, Clark had similar scene where he did ridiculous speed where he take the bomb out from the hospital after the trigger is pushed. And these scenes filmed a way before quicksilver scenes from х-men.
@@CursorXP5 But this was different that when he took the bomb outside because it showed it from the outside looking in, meaning just the speed. In this one it was incredible because it showed it from the way he sees the world when he runs everything is frozen. I do wished they would have talked about it more because most of time apart from the Emily episode (where he steps into super mode and the rain freezes) we only see the speed in the form of a blur. Basically he ran out saved day - ran back to his position and then pretend to take a dive when he was hit lol, that is so cool.
I think you guys missed that this episode gave us the first glimpse of 33.1. You mentioned we hadn’t seen Level 3 since season 1, but this isn’t level 3. It’s 33.1, which was a focus of season 6 and 7. I’m surprised none of the callers brought this up.
Noting Tom's observing that Clark ran faster than he did against The Flash from a previous episode, I don't know if the creators did this on purpose, but Clark has pushed passed limits when his friends and loved ones are in danger. So knowing that Chloe was about to die, he pushed through his normal speed to become even faster. Great show guys.
"Run" established that Flash relies on the fact he can zip in and out without anyone seeing. But this is the first time we see Clark move FROM PLAIN VIEW and BACK without anyone seeing he was gone! I don't know if it's faster but it was certainly the most ballsy as hell he's been exploiting his super speed haha. To me this one was a game changer about what his super speed is really capable of - which the rest of the show never really acknowledged, nor did this podcast!
A lot of people are saying he ran faster but I don't think he did, he ran the same - the only difference is we saw it from his perspective.. We know know that if Clark wanted to he could run to a store and if he doesn't stop he can come back and stand back at the same position he was before he left, and you wouldn't be any wise he moved. The only you would know that he moved is because he never comes back to the same spot but if he did you wouldn't even see it. This is how the little girl Emily is able to stand in front of you and when you turn around she is behind you because she moves so faster that your eyes can't pick her up. She tried this with Clark but Clark could track her.
@@jerodast Imagine how fast Bart is and that he so much faster than Clark, when Clark was looking at the picture, Bart stole the picture right in front of him, he zipped in in front of Clark while Clark had his face right next to painting and stole the picture. He must have been so faster that even Clark was a statue.
Every time I have to face a difficult situation, like a presentation of a final project in college or a job interview, just before that, I watch the clip of Clark getting ready for the game in the locker room, I have had it downloaded in every cell phone I've had, sets me in battle mode every time, it's my favorite Clark scene of the entire show, it's perfect, the song selection was perfect as well, amazing performance Tom. And then at the end of the episode my favorite Lex's quote in the introduction of 33.1: "There's nothing that's lost that can't be found again" I love this episode.
I think it’s so funny that last episode no one batted an eye when Clark acted so weird for days, and this episode he trips and they automatically know something is wrong.
I cannot WAIT for spell!! 😂😂 literally been waiting since they started the pod for them to talk about Clark dancing in the barn. There was a great commentary on that episode on the old dvd sets
The ending was really cool and creepy. Like I love that we know they are in 33.1. What we don’t know is what he saw. Like it could be other “meteor freaks” walking freely or it could be them in cages…and what’s he going to do? Such a cool Lex scene. It could totally be like “yeah you’re mine and not going anywhere ever again” that’s so Lex
I really loved the Greenday playing in the background while Clark was getting ready for his match. I also enjoyed the football scenes and this was when I started suspecting that Lex has some sort of interest in Lana. Thanks again guys ❤️
Only now? Hmmm I think you might have the same hilarious denial Shades that Rosenbaum has on 😅 mind you it could have had to do with age at the time of watching 🤔
KICKING MYSELF! 🙈🙈 Shoulda called in for this one - interesting thing of note, Lex says “there’s nothing that’s lost that can’t be found again” he repeats that exact same line to Kara in season 7.
Thanks for using my question guys!😁 This episode of the podcast was so hilarious, I literally spewed coffee everywhere because I was drinking my coffee and started busting up laughing 🤣! I really enjoyed it...Talkville episode gets 🌹🌹🌹... Smallville episode Jinx gets 🌹.
The scene with Tom/Clark getting dressed to enter the playing field to the tune of Boulevard Of Broken Dreams is a beautiful and iconic scene and one of my favourites❤❤❤. There couldn't have been a better choice of music for Clark's broken impossible dream, to be like the other guys and play serene his match, to be a human being. I've always compared the way Clark dresses to a knight wearing his armor and how he takes to the field with the fear and anguish that each time could be his last but still with courage and pride. It always makes me realize how hard life is for a hero with such powers and how alone he is. Really, really a very beautiful and sad scene. Immediately afterwards, the confrontation between Clark and Jonathan, between father and son, is also very beautiful. ❤❤❤
Just found this podcast the other day, I watched the show growing up with my brother, and my dad was always a great night when smallville was on. Re-watching the series now a lot older definitely gives me a newfound appreciation for the show. Especially watching the tv episode and then listening to the podcast, i hope this continues right until the series ends, and i can catch up fast enough to ask some questions
"JINX" is a GREAT episode, and Tom ROCKED as Clark throughout the entire episode in every single scene! The "Old Spice" scene is absolutely phenomenal, and "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams" by Green Day is truly one of the biggest songs in the world! Ryan's Favorite Scene where "Clark saves the day and makes the play" is another unparalleled scene that will be seen once again in the Series Finale too! Thanks for keeping this Talk Ville even more entertaining with all the different accents!
@@Haileystimpson Absolutely! "I walk a lonely road; the only one that I have ever known. Don't know where it goes, but it's home to me, and I walk alone."
I think they figured it out in the end haha, even if they were doing their usual thing only half listening to callers :P By the way I just re-read a recap of this episode, one I followed when they were still airing. The guy wrote "Topeka West? I was going to make fun of them until I Googled them and realized it's a real school. So, hats off Topeka West. You got a great program over there...that I know nothing about." Didn't remember that, but made me laugh after hearing your call :) Kudos to Omar G for doing his research before mocking schools on TV, and hats off to you!
I like the ending of that play because you have to realize that not only did Clark just "take the hit," that means he also made a conscious decision to fly backwards so the guy tackling him didn't break his shoulder all in the same moment. Like you guys said earlier, that is all character Superman character.
This podcast makes me happy! I discovered Smallville, loved it then found this. Started from the beginning and finally caught up. Looking forward to following for a long time.
I think it was a pretty cool episode, I know it’s essentially another “freak of the week” episode but I thought the ending with Clark running and doing everything in “Clark time” in about 3 seconds was pretty cool, we actually got a timer on relatively how fast he is (in seconds) rather then “he is super fast” like in most episodes.
The ending makes this one of the most noteworthy episodes of the show IMO. That scene made me think they should do an entire episode that takes place in one minute of Clark just zooming across the world to save the day. Because that's apparently how fast he goes. That guy tackling him? Didn't move more than a HAIR while Clark did his thing. That is crazy. That is not slow motion, that is time frozen. I understand why you can basically toss the rest of the episode (although I like how we saw a little progression of Chloe realizing how dangerous the guy was which was genuinely unsettling), but that scene is definitive.
It’s framed like a freak of a week but the bad guy is actually a major character in Superman lore. Though he’s a magical imp not a Russian monster cat person
@@BRobMint yes I know. The big bad in season 4 was supposed to be Margotte Kidder's character that we saw in the first episode, but when Chris Reeve passed away she didn't want to stay so her character was killed off the Teague family. So Jane Seymour stepped in and filled the antagonist role for the final stretch of the episodes. You kind of had that Somewhere in Time sort of reunion but didn't happen. Also Jeannot Szwarc who directed some of the episodes directed Somewhere in Time as well as the Supergirl film starring Helen Slater who will appear as Lara-El in season 7 and 9 of the show.
You guys were so funny in this podcast ep! 😆 Side note… I totally get what Tom means about getting yourself in into situations that you knew instinctually you should’ve avoided, especially as a parent.
It's really peculiar how much of season 6 this episode sets up: We get the 33.1 tease and we finally realize that Lex is infatuated with Lana. The closing shot is one of Rosenbaum's best acting expressions because it makes you wonder how far he's willing to go. Jinx is one of those episodes that gets better every time you watch it. The football storyline gets wrapped up in a very fitting manner, Clark performs one of his most impressive feats of heroism yet, Jonathan and Clark have a very poignant passing of the torch moment (awesome acting by Tom and John) and of course...Green Day!
@@pferdkennedy9154 I remember Smallville fans being so pissed when the 33.1 thing wasn't revisited after this episode. And then we got to Season 6 and thankfully they remembered!
I found the accent more grating this time than the last times I watched it, maybe I've had more of my fill of cheesy accents haha. Still enjoyed it. Honestly I don't really buy the passing the torch of responsibility though - Clark is dead-ass wrong deciding to play after finding he's a risk to seriously hurt someone. He's a kid making kid decisions, which is fine, but Jonathan saying "you're a man now!" was not earned to me. They'd never even tested the device that stops Mikhael, the only thing keeping others safe from Clark! The whole thing was based on a wild supposition that he's is powered by cricket noises! What 🤣🤣
@@Costas22 I still remember hearing AFI - Prelude 12/21 for the first time on the show, it's been in my bookmarks since, not my favorite song but perfect for that scene, I was glad they brought it back too. Honestly I'm surprised to hear you tell me it's not til season 6 because when I watched this one last week I assumed we'd see 33.1 again by the end of the season haha. Weren't we dealing with actual alien invaders by season 6, what's Lex still doing with a zoo full of Kryptomutants that late in the game!
One part I definitely thought y’all were gonna touch on just a little bit more, the conversation between Jonathan and Clark right after Clark walks out of the locker room. The craziest sentence that Clark says is, “every handshake. Every hug. Every time I’m out on that field I make a conscious decision to fall when those guys hit me so THEY don’t get hurt. No matter how hard you try you’ll never be able to understand that”. Like, I know Tom was like 29 at the time of season four, but imagine being a teenager having to think about that. Like being so strong and sturdy, and what not because of your alien heritage/powers, you have to remind yourself to basically just let your body fall when a human being hit you , so they don’t get hurt
Last week I got all caught up from binge watching all the podcasts and episodes to this point, I had a hard time waiting for the new podcast. I was expecting it to air wed night at 7 but when my phone told me it aired at 7 am I was super excited l. I got to start my day with these wonderful actors commenting on one of my favorite shows❤️thank you so much guys for doing this podcast!
9:58 They name dropped ShopRite on the Smallville podcast, wow; absolutely wild to hear an actor I watched as a kid say a store I only knew as a kid. what is life?
This is a good episode!! Listened to the podcast earlier and absolutely loved it ❤ Amazing as always ❤️ Thank you for the laughs ❤ Love this podcast so much ❤❤❤ Going to watch the video now. Thank you guys!!! ❤ Happy Talk Ville Wednesday ❤☄️🌽
Feel a little bad for the guy at 31:48. Didn't really get his question answered. Most of the response was no need for russian accent, go with what works, fright night and fast times at ridgemont high lol.
You all seem to be having so much fun talking about this episode it was interesting enough 🌹 super speed again was good nice to get more of the level 33.1 again good calm back
The football scene at the end of the episode with Greenday playing was one of the best parts of this one, as was Clark's epic Super save of Chloe during the game. Happy Wednesday guys!!😀😀🙏🙏
TBH this could've been a hero moment for the editor cutting in the clip from the show of him slowly enunciating his name to Chloe, every single time one of our boys stumbles on it haha. I guess that would've gotten old but I woulda laughed my ass off.
There came to be a lot of episodes that were duds but the ending scene would totally redeem the episode in a way and define the episodes to come. Love this freaking show.
Love that Michael mentions Dark, fantastic show. I only had trouble remembering all of the different names of the characters, but I loved the series so much. As for Smallville, love that you guys are still doing this, keep them coming fellas! The scene where Clark super speeds into the room and saves Chloe was my favorite part of this episode too!
You know what could have been fun, though probably out of place for Smallville? He’s an inter dimensional being right? Maybe have him come to the Smallville universe to get to Clark before he’s Superman with Gilbert reprising his role. It would be goofy but less lame then what we got.
@@seastriker4437 , dude, that would have been awesome! would have been a goofy episodes, probably would have fit fine for a later season once more heroes and people with ability outside of smallville/kryptonite powers were showing up more
Not sure if you're referring to the same conversation I'm thinking of, but also, the reason he doesn't just extort Lex is he wants Lex to be his patron. Lex could basically have him killed if he starts just forcing checks out of him. He wants a rich ally. Clark is just a target.
The scene wherein Clark suits up to Green Day reminds me of the suit-up scene in Rollerball where we see Jonathan E all alone before the world championship game that has been rigged to kill him, his team, and the other team as well. Clark even has Jonathan Kent playing the Bartholomew to his Jonathan E telling him to quit.
JINX was one of my favorite episodes and I loved when Boulevard of Broken Dreams was played when Clark was making his way onto the field. The ending was a cliffhanger of sorts 33.1 this became a significant part to Lexs story later on in the series love the podcast I give this episode 1 rose 🌹
I liked this episode because it showed Clark playing football and the song was really great when the boulevard of broken dreams comes on . a very iconic scene
I was glad Clark stood up to Jonathan about the incident at the end of the game, because he is always in control of his powers and as hard as it was for him to accept that, Jonathan knows he was right.
my favourite scene in the whole episode is when Clark is in the changing room getting ready for the last game with the sing of Green Day Boulevard of Broken Dream! I keep replaying this part 😍 I'm telling you this show was on point with all the songs in the background!
Before I even start this episode, I'm going to throw out my two favorite scenes from it. The one where Clark tells Jonathan, "Every handshake, every hug, every time I'm out on that field I make a conscience decision to fall when those guys hit me so they don't get hurt. No matter how hard you try you can't understand that" - that single line made me go back and rethink every interaction he had up to that point. Absolutely phenomenal writing and acting. And the second was when Clark is moving so fast that at Quicksilver like speed he runs off the field, saves Chloe, KO's the bad guy, and returns to the exact same spot so no one even knows anything happened. Like the first time he flew, this was true fan service showing his power. (yes, I know Quicksilver is from Marvel, but in the X-Men movies his scenes still top any other speedster's scenes in any movie.)
That quote is one of the best in the series. And for me when I think about it, Clark has superhuman strength, so he is _daily_ reigning in his strength. It's a testament to characters who have that ability not to hurt regular people, like with a handshake, in order to fit in and seem like a regular human. They have to make that conscience effort to do that every day.
always really liked this episode. And I really liked Boulevard of Broken Dreams when it first came out. I remember how big of a song it was. I like the 33.1 tease at the end. Though it doesn't come back again until season 6. I always wondered why it took so long for it to come up again and wondered if the writers ever had any plans for it back in season 4 that were scrapped or if it was just a throwaway Easter egg that was later picked up in season 6 or something
Love this podcast and y’all. I noticed the old spice as well and I think that it was the first product placement that Smallville had. No Lionel or Lois in the episode. Trent did a great job as MM. Michael you do a great Russian accent. I loved the scene between Martha and Clark in the barn. Also I like how Jonathan finally came around and that Clark admitted that he was like his dad. Loved the Valley of the Dammed reference. That ending saving scene was great. Loved how Lex didn’t answer Clark at the end of the episode. It makes me curious to see Lex’s plans for MM on level 33.1. Allyson gave a great performance in this episode. Y’all rock!
43:13 lol I knew Mike would point out Spell including the commentaries with Kristen and Erica💕 on disk💿👍 (plus with Allison which is odd even as Madelynn who became involved in cult…sadly) soo interesting of between between their chats in humor and while on the set wearing the scandalize witch outfit🔥 😂, now it’s the guys turn make their comment on this podcast👍
I just called the hotline and left a message for season 6 episode 9 lol I know it's a long way aways but you can never be too early when it comes to Talkville. My name is Donnie Trowell from Louisville Kentucky. Hopefully you'll hear it and remember it and it makes the cut lol
Lol I was just thinking if it was too early to call in about "Spirit" yet...you're right, never too early! The other guy who is not Ryan said when he was on the show, "the website says which episode we're recording, just check it." As far as I was able to tell, that is a baldfaced lie. I still have no idea how far ahead they really are at any moment.
Watching the guys make these discoveries about characters and adaptations of classic Superman lore is so entertaining because of how removed they are from this stuff.
Very good to see Michael more positive and happy He seems more content in himself Positive energy and thinking can literally change your life you should all try it *EVEN* when sht is happening to you in life just smile and laugh at it and think fk you shitty times and laugh 👍👍👍👍
I appreciate my question making the podcast, but they did not answer it. I specifically said my question was about Clark's discussion with John, but Tom talked about the time in the locker room. I think that Clark's response about 'No matter how hard you try, you can't understand' was his definitive decision to do what he knew was right, not what his father instructed him to do. It was his coming-of-age moment in my mind. Love the show and the podcast, but I notice the guys don't always listen to the questions and therefore don't really answer them. Love you guys, anyway.
How was this "what he knew was right" haha. He literally wanted to win a football game. They had no clue if Chloe's cricket theory made a god damn lick of sense. Clark is in "I'm a high school senior and My Team Is The Most Important Thing In Reality" mode right here 🤣🤣 (And if the justification is "well Mikhael said he'd hurt people if I don't play" he coulda just said that and saved the philosophical speeches.)
Also, I absolutely love Rosey's and Ryan's Russian accents. So very well done. And quite hilarious, I may add. Had me laughing at quite a few moments. 😀😀
The Green Day song was NOT even on the radio yet when this episode aired I had to rewatch the episode on VHS so many times so I could google them . I was a senior in HS at this . BLVD of broken dreams was like there 3rd or 4th single off this album .
Just googled it and that’s actually really cool and kinda crazy. This episode released Nov 3rd 2004 and the single Boulevard of Broken Dreams released Nov 29th 2004 so it wasn’t just before the radio but before it was officially released also
I remembered this from highschool. That is the one song playing during an episode I do remember. Everyone was talking about it the next day at school lol Definitely memorable and not noise but oh welllll
@@botofwarcraft3837 You're thinking of the season 2 Christmas episode "Season's Greedings" with Sherman Hemsley as The Toyman. But yeah, that's also a good episode. 🙂
I have rewatched Smallville sooo many times and never get tired. It’s definitely testing my patience to do one episode a week 😂. I think this is my first time actually leaving a comment but it’s in response to why the “Russian” sounding accent and why not just English. When Chloe looked up the lore it states his family are from the Balkans… little google info: The term by most definitions fully encompasses Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, European Turkey, and a large part of Croatia and Serbia. Sometimes the term also includes Romania and southern parts of Slovenia. I have a friend who actually looks like this actor from Romania and I think that maybe the accent he was going for. Anyway… hopefully this is an “interesting thing of note” 😁. Truly grateful for this time you all take to do this for the fans. Sending support and hugs from Canada, Kayla. PS: Michael, with your ringing endorsement, i just added Dark to my watchlist! Just hoping it’s not too gory lol! PPS: Tom, i have also rewatched Lucifer and have to say your season was one of the best!
I honestly thought you all would be a lot harsher on this one haha I enjoyed your batter and trying all the accents. Ryan pointing out the mixed drink was hilarious. I’ve never caught that before, but it’s so true! Also, Fireside Dates with Lex. Can we have a compilation?? We need it. 🤣🤣 it happens so much and they are in Kansas. I don’t feel like a fire would always be necessary 🤷🏻♀️ This episode is a rose for me. I love the development of Clark making his own decisions and the reference to 33.1
Haha cheers to all the hotline ppl who wanna discuss the progress of Lex and Lana's relationship in nearly every Talkville episode! I'm with y'all on this, their storyline's always drawn my attention, too. Also, Ryan's imitation of a Russian accent was the closest approach imo
Yeah, Ryan surprised me didn't know he could do accents and Tom just saying "oh no or was it oh god" when Ryan started replying to Michael who was doing also doing a Russian accent was funny.
I actually enjoyed this episode just as much as I did when it first aired back in the day... Mister Mxyzptlk is a Superman villain so I understood immediately when I watched the episode for the 1st time... Always cool seeing Clark and Chloe working together again 😊... I did like how it was mentioned about last episode lol Chloe: "Don't worry Clark, you can stay" Clark: "I thought you had some self-imposed restraining order against me... Does this mean that you're talking to me again?" Chloe: "It just means that I'm willing to take a chance on your Dr. Jekyll side today" Definitely an underrated scene lol... I love the "clashing" advice he's received from Jonathan then from Martha 😊... Also finding out that there's more to Mister Mxyzptlk than meets the eye as he has info about Lionel, which is why Lex keeps him around... The big brother-little brother convos that Lex and Clark have (especially about Jason and Lana) I always enjoy 😎... This episode really highlights how special Clark is and how he's able to compartmentalize his responsibilities (convincing his Dad on why he has to go thru with the game, keeping his focus on the field and saving Chloe in the speed time 😎)... Despite receiving props from his parents and earning back Chloe's trust, Clark still didn't come out unscathed as Lana accuses Clark for getting Jason fired... The last scene when Clark questions Lex why he got Jason fired and Lex giving a smirk just before the end credits was cool and kinda funny 😂😂😂... All in all, I give this episode 🌹1/2 (1.5 roses)... #LoveThePodcastFellas #TalkvilleWednesdays
I don't really understand how anyone who's heard of Mxyzptlk can NOT recognize this character as a direct reference to him if they're actually listening to the dialogue haha. One of the guys, I think Ryan, muttered something like "well if they were referencing something it could've been more clear" but for the love of god, man, look at his name, how much more clear could it be?
I love the show you guys do a good job I'm a big big fan of Smallville and everything you guys are doing great talkville is awesome I watch it every time it comes out Hope you guys do more in the future and hopefully we can get it all caught up and everything and hopefully you guys go all the way to 10 seasons like the show keep it up so proud of you guys like I said big fan
Loved this episode! Loved the foreign exchange student idea. The football 🏈 moments were also amazing. Love seeing Clark accepting responsibility for his actions all while taking a big risk at playing the game with his abilities. I will say the Jason/Lana storyline I thought was a bit stupid. They knew they’d get caught eventually. It was only a matter of time. I have a question? I read somewhere that Jensen wasn’t supposed to have this story line. He originally wasn’t supposed to have a love interest in the show or at least with Lana. I for one would have loved to have seen more bromance between Jason and Clark since Clark’s relationship with Lex didn’t end well and Pete left. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Thanks love the podcast Michael and Tom. Watching season 1 right now and some other episodes from the show and loving it all over again! ❤️❤️ would love to see Jensen Ackles and Jane Seymour on the Talkville Podcast to talk about their scenes they had together! They were amazing on the show! ❤️ Can’t wait for the next episode which I do believe is the “witches,” one lol 😂 RIP Chris Gauthier. He was also on Supernatural.

This is actually the second time Clark stumbles. The first time was in the pilot episode while he got too close to Lana's necklace
Yeah, he should have said without kryptonite, because everyone remembers him tripping in the pilot.
Great catch

Lol
Yea because Clark doesn't trip unless there's kryptonite especially when it's going to hurt someone doing it
I cannot tell you how many times ive watched this series!! Whenever i was depressed this show got me through, thank you, truly
I cannot WAIT for spell!! 😂😂 literally been waiting since they started the pod for them to talk about Clark dancing in the barn. There was a great commentary on that episode on the old dvd sets
"Hey come on in, join the party! Woo!!!!!" lmao
Yes! That commentary is so funny!
Commentary>>>>episode 😂
Tom saying Dracula's line from Hotel Transylvania was so adorable 😆
When?
The song works perfectly with what clark is going through where it says I walk a lonely road.
@@Haileystimpson Absolutely! "I walk a lonely road; the only one that I have ever known. Don't know where it goes, but it's home to me, and I walk alone."
The moment Michael hit legend status: Laces out Finckle 😂😂😂
Next week’s episode is gonna be hilarious watching Rosey rip into the witch storyline 😂
I can’t wait!!! I’m so excited 😂😂😂
Nah wait till the resident evil spoof he's gonna shred it
I've been waiting for it all season. It's almost sad how excited he seems about it here.
That story arc almost made me stop watching the series. I hated the witch story arc.
CAN NOT WAIT!!!
31:07 this was me! I meant that I graduated from the actual Topeka West high school in Topeka, KS 😂
I think they figured it out in the end haha, even if they were doing their usual thing only half listening to callers :P
By the way I just re-read a recap of this episode, one I followed when they were still airing.
The final scene with Boulevard of Broken Dreams playing is so epic, I absolutely love it ❤ the whole football plot this season is amazing
one of my favourite scenes ❤
Amazing music in the whole show
Also how Clark told his father how much he holds himself back and how he can never understand that.
I enjoy this show so much. I love the analysis as always. Keep up the great work.
This podcast makes me happy! I discovered Smallville, loved it then found this. Started from the beginning and finally caught up. Looking forward to following for a long time.
Season 4 is so iconic ❤😍
My favorite season with 5 close behind
YAY! I discovered this podcast in late January or early February and I have finally caught up! Keep up the great work!
@@jerodastright? Everyone’s eyes are on Clark at that moment. Shouldn’t he appeared to have blipped for a second?
@@jerodast, I agree :)
Magic affecting Clark for the very first time with this episode.
And next week it gets 3 times worse.
And the next one…..oh boy
Good catch!
Or it would have been if it were magic rather than some form of scientific mumbo-jumbo involving ultrasound frequencies...
"I DON'T SAY BLAH BLAH BLAH" hahahahaha
I’ve never thought about it from that perspective. Great insight!
You all seem to be having so much fun talking about this episode it was interesting enough 🌹 super speed again was good nice to get more of the level 33.1 again good calm back
I’m glad somebody called out how fast Clark had to be running. Way faster than when he was running with Bart.
The football scene at the end of the episode with Greenday playing was one of the best parts of this one, as was Clark's epic Super save of Chloe during the game. Happy Wednesday guys!!😀😀🙏🙏
the continuous accents throughout this episode killed me 🤣🤣
I was so looking forward to this. 😅 I love how Mxyzptlk was not pronounced correctly ONCE this entire episode. Haha.
TBH this could've been a hero moment for the editor cutting in the clip from the show of him slowly enunciating his name to Chloe, every single time one of our boys stumbles on it haha. I guess that would've gotten old but I woulda laughed my ass off.
This was utter chaos and I’m here for it. 🤣
There came to be a lot of episodes that were duds but the ending scene would totally redeem the episode in a way and define the episodes to come. Love this freaking show.
Thank you for this podcast. Always a treat listening to your fun filled analysis every week. Love you guys! TGFTVW ❤️❤️🙏.
Gilbert Goddfried who voiced him and challenged Superman to say his name backwards so hilarious.
In the cartoon series yes
Watched it yesterday
You know what could have been fun, though probably out of place for Smallville? He’s an inter dimensional being right? Maybe have him come to the Smallville universe to get to Clark before he’s Superman with Gilbert reprising his role. It would be goofy but less lame then what we got.
@@seastriker4437 from the 5th dimension lol.
@@seastriker4437 , dude, that would have been awesome! would have been a goofy episodes, probably would have fit fine for a later season once more heroes and people with ability outside of smallville/kryptonite powers were showing up more
The reason Mxyzptlk decides to confront Clark, is because even making him trip didn't avoid his victory. So Mxyzptlk needs to ensure he wins the 1M.
Another week!! Thanks for doing this guysss❤
You guys are great! Thank you for keeping this going. I was cracking up over the accents
This was an interesting episode I liked the “magical” element and all the vocal impressions, very entertaining, thank you🤩
Been here since 1st episode. Love the show and the original series. Thanks for doing this.
I was glad Clark stood up to Jonathan about the incident at the end of the game, because he is always in control of his powers and as hard as it was for him to accept that, Jonathan knows he was right.
This does have the best "clark time" scene.
my favourite scene in the whole episode is when Clark is in the changing room getting ready for the last game with the sing of Green Day Boulevard of Broken Dream! I keep replaying this part 😍
I'm telling you this show was on point with all the songs in the background!
It's funny how Evan Peters (Quicksilver in the Fox X-Men movies) is a distant cousin of Tom's and they've both played superheroes with super-speed.
I’d say ZSJL Flash when he reversed time after the motherboxes vaporized Earth and the Justice League
“Lexual healing”😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂👍
always really liked this episode.
Y’all rock!
"My powers are so inaccurate!" 😂
Clark getting ready for the game and talking with his dad about why it’s got to be his decision is the best scene by far.
Another fun one. Thanks guys!
I thought Spell was dumb until I watched the vampire episode in season 5. LOL
“Yickity yikes!” Lol Michael better deliver on this one!
Great product placement episode! And good hints at an Evil League created by Lex.
Very good to see Michael more positive and happy
He seems more content in himself
Positive energy and thinking can literally change your life you should all try it
*EVEN* when sht is happening to you in life just smile and laugh at it and think fk you shitty times and laugh
👍👍👍👍
38:17 callers voice made me think that Phyllis from The Office just called in
Great questions about the drink from Ryan, I never thought of that after rewatching the series multiple times 😅
They almost never answer the question as written lol
How was this "what he knew was right" haha. He literally wanted to win a football game. They had no clue if Chloe's cricket theory made a god damn lick of sense. Clark is in "I'm a high school senior and My Team Is The Most Important Thing In Reality" mode right here 🤣🤣
(And if the justification is "well Mikhael said he'd hurt people if I don't play" he coulda just said that and saved the philosophical speeches.)
Also, I absolutely love Rosey's and Ryan's Russian accents. So very well done. And quite hilarious, I may add. Had me laughing at quite a few moments. 😀😀
I think you guys should record callers saying "Always hold on to Smallville..."
The Green Day song was NOT even on the radio yet when this episode aired
I had to rewatch the episode on VHS so many times so I could google them . I was a senior in HS at this . BLVD of broken dreams was like there 3rd or 4th single off this album .
Just googled it and that’s actually really cool and kinda crazy. This episode released Nov 3rd 2004 and the single Boulevard of Broken Dreams released Nov 29th 2004 so it wasn’t just before the radio but before it was officially released also
Actually looks like Wikipedia has conflicting info and I’m also seeing the single was released Sept 7th. Still very close
I remembered this from highschool. That is the one song playing during an episode I do remember. Everyone was talking about it the next day at school lol
Definitely memorable and not noise but oh welllll
Fun fact: Howie Mandel played Mxyzptlk on a 4th season episode of "Lois & Clark," a Christmas episode entitled "Twas the Night Before Mxymas". :)
That was a good episode.
Man I loved that series.
20:21 I love these what if his powers just acted randomly (as he only ever says a one word command which could be misinterpreted lol)
Tom with "I don't say blah blah blah" 😂 I wonder how many people get that reference 😂😂😂
This was the funniest podcast episode 😂 the constant Russian impressions were so good!
I don’t feel like a fire would always be necessary 🤷🏻♀️
This episode is a rose for me.
So great to hear you guys praising DARK. Fantastic show, one of my all-time favorites.
Love the podcast, keep it up.
Love you guys, Rosey, Tom and good old Ryan. Blessings 🌈
I actually enjoyed this episode just as much as I did when it first aired back in the day... Mister Mxyzptlk is a Superman villain so I understood immediately when I watched the episode for the 1st time... Always cool seeing Clark and Chloe working together again 😊... I did like how it was mentioned about last episode lol
Chloe: "Don't worry Clark, you can stay"
Clark: "I thought you had some self-imposed restraining order against me... Does this mean that you're talking to me again?"
Chloe: "It just means that I'm willing to take a chance on your Dr. Jekyll side today"
Definitely an underrated scene lol...
Nate on the Smallville football team is Jared Keeso, of the popular Canadian TV shows, Letterkenny & Shorsey.
To anyone who enjoys the movie “Fright Night,” I highly recommend the book “The Southern book club’s guide to slaying vampires” by Grady Hendrix.
“Jinx Albright” Thursday nights on CBS, after the premiere of Tracker!
“You just got JINXed Detective!”
Tracker is good!!!
Would watch - lol!
