Half life on Dreamcast was virtually finished before being axed in 2001. I remember downloading the CDI a few years ago and playing it in full working order on my Dreamcast.
I remember reading in Gamepro at the time in one of there ProReview's about it, then finding out much later that it was cancelled just days before release.
The Thrill Kill game was reskinned and released as Wu Tang: Taste the Pain (aka Shaolin Style in the US). At the time there were virtually complete pirate versions of Thrill Kill floating around. I had a copy. It was ok, but not as shocking as rumoured.
Probably because this game was not finished at all. Dont know exactly how much of a percentage there was to play, but I dont think it was even close to 50%
I think you need to redo your Star Fox 2 math. It wasn’t “the better part of three decades” or “a whopping 28 years after it was supposed to launch”. It came out in 2017, and 28 years before that was 1989. Nintendo definitely wasn’t worried about the PlayStation or Saturn in 1989. In reality, it was 22 years later.
Rogue Squadron 4 is the one that hurts for me It wasn't even announced It was 98% complete and was planned to be a surprise announcement with a release 6 months later and now it only exists on the lead dev from Factor 5's Wii Devkit
“Penn & Teller’s smoke and mirrors” was completed for the Sega CD and review copies were even sent out but they discontinued the peripheral right as it was about to be released.
Wait, wait, wait, wait... the "bloodiest battle of the Iraq War" claimed the lifes of a measly 3000 people - and there a people getting offended by this? How many games have been made about WW2 or the Vietnam War (each with deaths in the millions) and no one was offended by that?! ... ... that's dumb.
I guess it was considered "too soon" as the Iraq war was still ongoing at the time. Though I agree with you. Art should be able to be topical without being seen as problematic. There were a multitude of movies about the Iraq war released but somehow video games were put to different standards as usual.
@@luske2 It wasn't considered 'art', but an entertainment product. I guess you can argue it's artistic merit, but I think first and foremost it is a mass market product that has the player actively participating in the battle. Lot of civilians dead, tons of homes destroyed and people displaced and few even getting compensated for their loss(not to mention questionable tactics by the US military). Was just a bad look at the time. There aren't many movies made about that particular city though, mostly documentaries.
Also, just to note, there have been a number of people displeased about videogames being made about WW2, it just gets drowned out or ignored by the videogame public or just the public at large. And that's very many years after the fact. If people were making games even a couple years after the war, I'd imagine very many people would be incensed about it.
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3+4 Remaster Tony Hawk said Vicarious Visions was working on THPS 3+4 and then Activision Blizzard bought Vicarious Visions and it got cancelled. I'll never forgive them for buying Vicarious Visions. I'm glad karma is biting them in the ass ever since. Warcraft 3, Overwatch 2, and How they been treating their employees stories. That is karma.
Activision-Blizzard already owned Vicarious Visions, it got cancelled because they decided to merge Vicarious Visions into Blizzard instead of being a separate studio under Activision. Such a shame, VV made some good games. But now the Activision part of the company just makes COD. At least one potential positive from the Microsoft buyout is that they may resurrect some Activision franchises, but I doubt VV will be re-established.
Technically, that guy at Nintendo was right and wrong. Just five years after he said that, we got Perfect Dark released on XBLA, and then eleven years later, Goldeneye came to Xbox Game Pass. Also, he suggested that Nintendo owned the rights to a game belonging to a franchise that is owned exclusively by Metro Goldwyn Mayer, which I believe explains all the red tape they had to go through just to get it on Switch Online.
I don't even think that hearsay from the 'Nintendo exec' is even legit. The rom for GE didn't even show up on the Wii or Wii U VC. It's not just an MGM thing, there's the licenses to Bond license, Pierce Brosnan and other actors, music etc. Even a rom dump is going to have some problems negotiating that, but a remake/remaster likely wont cover that and may necessitate a re-negotiation of various contracts, which seems like a nightmare. We get a lot of remaster/remakes these days, but very rarely ones with notable celebrities or based off storied franchises, and for good reason.
FUN FACT! After the battle of Fallujah there was a investigation of war crimes, because American soldiers had landed so many headshots Iraq thought they were executing people. But really it was one of if not the first mission America had 4x zoom ACOG sights and they just worked that good
The Lost, Four Horseman of the Apocalypse, StarCraft: Ghost, Twelve Tales: Conker 64, Scalebound, The Elders Scrolls Travels: Oblivion and CastleVania: Resurrection are some more games that were far into development and got cancelled.
Why is Six Days of Fallujah doing the Iraq war in poor taste while doing WW1 and WW2 in games is okay? Way more people died in those, all wars should be fair game if they are
I see after three thousand years of development Little Big Adventure 3 is finally officially not happening. What about Beyond Good And Evil 2 though, is that still alive?
Pray 2017 is not a reboot. It's a totally different game set in a totally different universe. And correct me if I'm wrong but reboots just re do the same story. So there...
Regarding Prey: I’m not sure if it’s the reason, but I used to chat to a Cherokee woman on MySpace and she told me that the Cherokee nation weren’t too happy about being used disrespectfully in the first game.

StarCraft Ghost, the original Dark Sector that then got turned into Warframe
As soon as Prey came up I was patiently expecting Simon miller
I was not disappointed

Nothing hurts me more than SWB3's cancellation. It killed Free Radical. It killed TimeSplitters 😢
What about Star Wars 1313? I'm still annoyed that game was pulled after some really promising trailers 😠

I’ve still got my incomplete Thrill Kill disc for PS1 somewhere. Was a fun game.
One game I was interested in playing was Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines 2.
It's still on it's way .... eventually
Not officially cancelled, but the Sands of Time remake has gone back to the drawing board after it had been developed far enough for pre-orders.
Rogue Squadron 4 is the one that hurts for me

That sucks, could've been another hi fi rush scenario, suprise release, big hit.
I'd love it if somebody leaked it.
Propeller Arena is actually available online if you look hard enough :)
“Penn & Teller’s smoke and mirrors” was completed for the Sega CD and review copies were even sent out but they discontinued the peripheral right as it was about to be released.
It is always sad when completed games never got released 😅
funny you guys and austin released cancelled games videos within few days of each other
No harm, 2 great channels popping out similar videos gives you some extra viewing time 🎉
Pretty sure they run on a production schedule lol.
Who? 😂
@@12thMandalorian Austin Eruption. Pretty good channel. Similar to Caddicarus without as many zany bits

I'll play the game. Looks pretty good and fun

Thrill Kill looks suspiciously like Wu Tang: Taste the Pain
You don't say....
That’s because it uses the same game engine.
It is essentially a reworked Thrill Kill's code
You should do more videos on Star Wars games or cancelled Star Wars games.
True Fantasy Live Online is heartbreaking. That looked like it would have made a splash back then.

While a fact, I wouldn't use the word "fun" to describe it..
Scalebound comes to mind i was devastated when it got canceled
Love the subtle Gym-Goer flex there Ben my boy.

Hi Triplejump I Hope Those Games Gets A Physical Release For Ps4 And Ps5 In The Future
You forgot Pirates of the Caribbean Armada of the Damned
I had thrill kill on ps1.
Why is Six Days of Fallujah doing the Iraq war in poor taste while doing WW1 and WW2 in games is okay? Way more people died in those, all wars should be fair game if they are
I though for sure the Binoicle game would be on here
I wonder if that’s why Microsoft and Level 5 have a bad relationship today

Jazz jackrabbit 3?
Scalebound 😔
Scalebound?
no where near almost complete
That fantasy life game didn't meet Microsofts standards. It wasn't on Redfalls low level!!
No Fallout van Buren?
Warcraft Adventures?
Most painful cancellation was Babylon 5: Into the Fire back in 1998....
