    Well done. Never heard of kaytedid86, but I've been making hats like that for awhile. A few years ago I visited with my aging mother and brought my Addi King with me. My mother kept sending me to the craft store and other places for tons of yarn. I ended up making about 150 hats for the local shelter and cancer clinic. I usually do up to 120 rows on mine. I just cinch them one end at a time and it all looks just fine, since you can't see how it was done anyway. Much faster that way, too. : )

    • @SnufflebeanYarn
      @SnufflebeanYarn  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I love your technique to put the two ends together! That said, I attempted a reversible hat yesterday - did great until I got to the binding together portion - then I had a horrible mess. I believe my initial problem was my cast on row/loops were so loose that those loops were way larger than the cast off loops. An absolute mess … but great learning experience? I’m not certain how to fix the problem. … yes, I will attempt again! 🤷‍♀️😁

    • @SnufflebeanYarn

      The 46/48 pin would make child and adult beanies (you would just need to make the tube length shorter for child size and possibly hold the tension a little tighter) a 40 pin machine is good for headbands and newborn/baby hats. Have fun! 🥰

    • @SnufflebeanYarn
      @SnufflebeanYarn  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have an Addi so I hand tension my work, I hold the Stylecraft a little tighter when it goes through the machine as I’m working more rows of that than the retro. I’ve personally found the retro to be marginally thicker than the Stylecraft and it’s also less flexible.

      You could try, but you might find hats on the Prym come out a little too small. You could definitely replicate a teen/child version of this hat using it, but you might have to tweak your row counts slightly.

    Stupid question alert: is knitting the tube by hand, in the round any different? I assume you could then kitchener the 2 ends or 3 needle bind off and figure out the cinching?

    • @SnufflebeanYarn
      @SnufflebeanYarn  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You would need to work some decreases before you cinch, I tried to hand knit one before I got my machine and I had 80 stitches on my needles which was just too many to get it cinched closed at the top without leaving a huge hole.

    • @littlemisshappy2002
      @littlemisshappy2002 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SnufflebeanYarn that's interesting. I wonder if it's because they're fully "worked" stitches on a binding off, rather than running the yarn through to catch the 'live' loops, which gives more flexibility from a machine? Hmmm.... time to experiment!

    • @SnufflebeanYarn
      @SnufflebeanYarn  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe it was me, but a machine has 46 stitches, so 92 in total when you have them alll together. To get a compatible beanie using dk yarn on 4mm needles I cast 80 stitches which would have meant 160 stitches to cinch (I used this same method when handknitting as I wanted to replicate the double thickness beanie and I didn’t have a machine yet) and it was just too many, I couldn’t get the hole closed tight enough.

    I don’t understand two things:
    A/why the concern about the dark blue and the pink being half and
    B/why is the change of yarn to the other pink needed? Why not just starting and ending the Beanie on whatever color it ends and also why using another color/yarn for the inside. Thx a lot

    • @SnufflebeanYarn
      @SnufflebeanYarn  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi 🙂
      A) By starting half way through the blue / pink you will get the full rainbow on the hat.
      B) this yarn is hard to find in the U.K., so by changing to pink / blue it means you get more than one beanie from the skein. You could just start and end the beanie on whatever colour you wanted, but then you might not always get the full gradient of the rainbow.

    Based off of your cost for materials it looks like you are only making 3 or 4 dollars per hat. Bring the price of your hats to at least $30. Even if you sell less it will make it worth your time.
