I notice whoever fuses with Steven gets fluffy hair, a funny personality, and unique weapons. When fused with Amethyst, their weapon is a yoyo, with Pearl it is a Parasol, and with Garnet it was a pair of suction cups. There really isn't a weapon specific with Stevonnie, because they use Connies sword and Stevens shield.
Opal, Suggilite, Sardonyx, and Alexandrite all have unique weapons too. That's just a fact of fusion, the weapons of the two (or more) components are merged into one. On other hand, you could say they gain the signature star on those weapons, but other than that its just the sheild + other gem's weapon. Steven's unique traits he brings to his fusions tend to be: A. Fluffy/Curly shortened hair B. The organic outfit, likely due to his half human nature C. His powers, rose sheild; healing spit; slow falling; spiked bubble; and diamond powers like super speed D. His personality And E. The optimistic best he sees in the chosen fusion partner. (Each relating to how he views them, steg being based on an 80's rock star, sunstone being a psa advisor and stunt person, smokey being a goofy comedian, rainbow 2.0 being a nanny, and Stevonnie being a tall capable young woman (i mean, he had a crush on Connie, what do you expect me to say lmao)) Yeah, a long analysis but it seems to hold up. ^.^

I was just thinking about fusions this afternoon. I was wondering why Garnet doesn't have heat and ice powers but Ruby and Sapphire do respectively. I mean, Malachite still has Lapis' water powers. I guess maybe the heat and ice cancel each other out, but it would have been so cool to see in the show.
I think it's maybe because gems only have one weapon or main weapon,Malachite has water powers because that's probably her weapon. Then again, Jasper does have a helmet so Malachite has that too,I guess Garnet would probably be OP if she had fire+ice powers and gauntlets 🤷♀️

I theorize this is because Amethyst’s insecurity affects the fusion and gets rid of the sassiness. Ruby tends to bring strong, blocky forearms to all Garnet fusions, along with the bOoTy. Sapphire adds an extra eye to all of her fusions, except Sardonyx. I theorize this is because Sardonyx is kind of ignorant and focused on herself, and not on what her ignorant actions may cause. (It could also simply be because of Pearl’s gem being in the way. Steven brings a fun personality, jokes, and comedic weapons in all of his gem fusions. He brings his nose to all of his human fusions.
