it's so interesting seeing this dynamic, despite certain things happening that probably wouldn't in retrospect, like pearl transforming more casually in fan comics, which after the twist would probably be something fan artists would change. Still one of my favourite fan comics from the season 1 era

I was gonna invite them to my birthday party but instead, I asked my dad to write invitations saying I was sick and wanted this party. Everyone I invited came...except for those three. Now I’ve moved on and totally forgot about their existence until I saw this video
Okay, I for one feel like this would have been something that would have been in the show (it kinda was but more subtle compared to this) but it would have been such an amazing character development point to show the copping difference between Amethyst and Pearl and how they view one another after the "death" of their beloved friend and leader.
