And this is exactly why everyone loves hearing your advice!!!! You’ve proven with your family that you know what needs to be done and it’s greatly appreciated that you show us how to build the same setups!
Bill enjoy your channel...I've been going through this exact issue with my son's 406. It has a mechanical advance distributor. When you say 42 initial is that at idle. We only have about 20 degrees at idle and about 36 total. Thanks for the great content
@@brianhesterlee3799 it likely needs the distributor locked out at 36 degrees. 3.48 stroke engines need more timing than 3.75 strokes. I generally start at 38/40 degrees on 350ci engines and work my way up
Awesome tech advice. Bill could you go over the Power valve again some time for this type of setup. Say a engine that makes under 12” at 1000 RPM’s and how to pick the right power valve.
To be honest Bill, one thing I miss in my life is having a buddy like you around. A car guy and mechanic all my life, I too struggle with the Holley tuning and that rich idle issue. Appreciate all the tips as burning eyes gets kinda old. Have a great setup on my 454. Getting it dialed in is the key. Always appreciate you including Miss Vicki as she adds something special in many ways. Her smile and laugh bring joy to my heart as I'm sure it does yours. Hope that's not too deep but, hey it's your fault for being so likeable.
I’ve got a 454 with a Holley 750 Classic that I’m struggling with the tuning on. I’m not a mechanic, but I’m learning everyday. I appreciate you making this video. Thanks for the content!!
You hit the nail right on the head Bill, it's the Family, the passion and it's all from the heart. People can relate to your family and yourself because all aspects of the videos are about life. Love the content, enjoy all the channels. God Bless Mate.
Mr bill this is great actually. You speak like my dad would of when he taught me how to do the plugs and wires on his old 79 bronco. With the 400 monified. And now I Understand exactly what you just talked about in the video tonight. And I'm no gear head in a shop . Bit I do alittle work on cars here and there .keep picking parts and stuff for hotter cars and old school stuff it is helping people. I swear Mr bill . Your more then you think . Your a wealth of knowledge sir I mean that. Whole hartedly.. you guys are in the now you keep going please and thank you .. it's the family that's y yall took off I agree 👍 💯 have a great night thanks again
I wish my dad was like that. I love my dad and him and my mom sacrificed everything for me and my sister. He was amazing with kids until it came to me. It would go from take the carb off to where the fuck did you come from. You are not my blood as you can’t do anything right. I would eventually shut down and didn’t want to do anything. I finally left for the army when I was 17. He was better when I got out 8 years later but then I had some boys and he was doing it to them behind my back. I was fighting for custody of my kids and was answering for his verbal abuse as I believe in teaching your kids to have thick skin. But telling my kids that their mom is a lazy whore and needs to die is to far even if I agree with his feelings. So I cut ties with him. I watch the ole man and his boys and makes me miss my grandfather who was my biggest fan and hero. He was like bill with me. But he died when I was in desert storm and never got to say goodbye. Cherish your dad and hope he is in your life forever.
Gotta say Bill is the A1 carburetor whisperer. They all know when the old man comes walking in with his tool box of screwdrivers and a timing light (as chief would say) 😂 SRC Garage is the most relatable channel in every aspect of a gearhead. It’s crazy to see how much this channel keeps growing day in and day out.
The reason your channel is doing so well is because you don’t put on a screen persona whenever there is a camera around. Honesty warts and all. I found you through Billy’s channel and it got to the point where I would fast forward his videos to get to the point where you were in the video working on the truck. 🤣 so when you launched your channel I was over the moon. Very excited to see where you take us on your journey Bill. Please stop selling yourself short. You are putting out content that many of us look forward to. EVERY DAY. 😊
I love watching the videos, but when you want to listen to how a car sounds it always seems to have music playing and ya can't hear it , otherwise love the videos
Keep it up Bill. You nailed it in the ending of video, there's several reasons I've never missed one of your videos. Main one is you're honest, you don't cherry pick the best moments around the shop. I enjoy the little day to day stuff as much as the racing. Extremely good combination. You should be very proud of your channel Bill- I'm proud to recommend it to gear heads like myself without a second thought.
Hardly ever comment on anything but can’t help myself this go around. You hit the nail on the head when talking about “other TH-cam channels “ not talking off . I watch you because I feel the content is real , I’m not sure how to word it exactly but I don’t feel as if anything is forced or you’re trying to stuff merchandise down my throat, or asking for money every five seconds during the video. I understand that is the sole purpose of some channels and honestly I don’t watch to many of those , nor do I see anything wrong with them just not for me. So keep up the good work Bill, be yourself and thank you!
I watch because it reminds me of my father and I. Him and I built a bbc 1986 c10. The truck came from a friend of his that passed away and its always been his dream to put a built 454/th400 with a Ford 9" and thats exactly what we did. The truck isn't 100% finished yet but its damn close and he drives that thing all over the place. My father and I havent always seen eye to eye but this project has brought us so close together that we're basically best friends now and pretty much inseparable and I couldn't be happier with the way things have turned out both with the truck and our relationship. You and your family have truly been more than an inspiration. Thank you so much.
Absolutely beautiful car. And don't be down man. I know it's hard but This is your time now. Kids are grown, happy and successful. Which means you were fully committed 100% to your family and kids and you did a great job. You succeeded in life and this is the payoff for all the hard work and sacrifices you made. Now it's your time to do what you want.
Bill.. Your opinion of what sets the SRC channels apart is EXACTLY why I subscribe. I found the SRC channels doing research for an engine swap in my Sonoma. I had zero interest in street racing and haven't been to a track since hell, 2000 maybe.. I enjoy the content, your channel especially. I like how yall keep things real. All families roll thru rough times, but I think you have one hell of a family. Whats awesome is you and Mrs Vicky know it and so humble.. Fan of the boys and their racing. Still not very interested in street racing. However, I am gaining interest in trying to set up my Sonoma to do drag and drive race weeks.. I think thats something you might enjoy doing with your Nova. It would get you on the road doing something different, and possibly introduce yourself to a different group within the culture..
Street racing isn’t how it’s made out to be. I’m 52 and been doing it since I could drive. Yes it’s illegal but we don’t do it in areas with homes and traffic. It’s organized and well ran in most areas. We have lookouts for cops and traffic. There is nothing like it.
I think the reason that you guys have taken off and have grown such a huge and wide fan base is because you are so relatable!!! This is why I have such a deep connection with your content! I can so easily relate to most all of your content! I love your family and everything it stands for!
Thank You MR Hoskinson, finally someone saying what I been "preaching" for so many years:A engine with some performance needs to have the vacume connected to what I prefer to call "full vacume" or manifold vacume. Had a stroker 284 cu.in. inline six with 10.6 compratio connected that way and it could idle in the summer heat for hours without a stumble or getting overheated (and that car had a stock radiator from a 2 litre Volvo engine), so that is also to take in to consideration in my humble opinion. You are a great inspiration to me even IF You are a young guy compared to me,looking at your videos made me take the jump and start making videos myself, long way to go but i'm learning as I go... Keep upp the same way and and never change the way You are. Come over the pond in August and I will guide You around at the Stockholm Open...
the reason i love this channel is the family part of it, for one thing you remind me so much of my dad. my father pasted away 22 years ago when i was 29 and the things i miss the most is just sitting down talking to him. if i had any words of advice for Billy And tommy it would be to cherish to time you have with your dad..
You are so absolutely right my friend. My father passes away 13 yrs ago. I spent all the time I could with him and never regretted one minute. I’m 64 God I miss him. One thing is for sure, the older I get the smarter he is was. Bill I have my wife watching your channel cuz we laugh our nuts off at your narrating Paige the deuce, turf barrels and yes Mice in the house! Keep up the great videos and Miss Vickies cameos with you are the bomb😂 Don’t change a thing Ol Man
OL MAN FOR PRESIDENT. I COULD SIT AN LISTEN TO HIM RAMBLE ON FOR HRS. IVE WATCHED YOUR VIDEOS FROM THE VERY BEGINNING AND THEY'VE HELP THE HEALING PROCESS BETWEEN MY SON AN I. I CANT THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR SHARING THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY WITH US IVE TAKIN ALOT OF WHAT YOU SAY TO HEART AN ITS BEEN GREAT THANKS OL MAN GOD BLESS SRC FAMILY!!!!
Bill one great thing that I enjoy about your channel is be it bad or be it good it’s all about the family!!keep up the great work now let’s get to wrenching on your Nova! I wish the Video’s were longer enjoy them so much. Thanks my friend!
Your Chanel Bill and Derek at Vice Grip Garage are “must watches” for me personally. I say this because I truly learn from you both and you both overcome car challenges you face. I watch some others too, but they are more show than know, if you understand what I mean by this. Keep them coming. Also idea to think about. If your boys want to go a separate path to what they have been on with you, you are doing the right thing to make their own decisions on their own, including mistakes. That is how we develop. But you should never lose sight of the facts there are very many young people who want to go racing and can certainly use the help you provide for this to happen. Don’t be shy about making yourself available to them. It will enable you not to be alone and put some new faces and challenges in your future videos - smiles and knowledge too. Also you have the lift, they do not. That is a big deal. Keep smiling.
Vice grip is my number one and SRC channels are my second. It also helps I’m a buckeye like Bill and his family. When Molly put out her video of Bill loosing his temper was hard to watch. I didn’t agree with her cowardly way of hiding behind the seat and I also didn’t agree with how Bill was talking to her. But he done what 99% of adult males in today’s world won’t do and that is own it. I already had major respect for him and his family and it only grew from his ownership of it. I love learning new things about anything with an American V8 and want him to get the nova in the garage and put class in session. He also needs to put out a merch line of shirts and hats and hoodies. He said he doesn’t want to be idolized but I see it as respect for a amazing father and a knowledgeable man who is willing to teach anyone who will listen.
Derick is a very good father and includes his boys in the videos often. He has a very slapstick way of working on his projects but is very knowledgeable about vehicles and shares it. But when his boys are working he is a great example of a loving and caring father. I met him at this year’s power cruise and is the same guy after 8 hours in the August sun talking to fans. He is on oriellys auto parts store commercial and is working with peak antifreeze too.
No worries about higher quality videos..I love the family aspect of the channel and the fact that you show it's not all rainbows and unicorns..perfect just the way it is..god bless
I enjoyed this video, I love it when a old school gear-head starts giving out knowledge! Loved it! The family side of it is what set both channels off! You are the one we all looked for at the starting line waiting for Billy and tommy to race! Teaching fits you well your good at it! Hopefully your the one still lining the boys up at every race! Most of us spend so much time running through life we forget whats important! Family! Even if billy or tommy never won a race again your family is who we would be pulling for because of that family side of it! Limpys livee feed is all about billy and tommy and you, Even after they are out of the race that says alot!
I enjoy watching your videos. I was racing a GFX class 70 Nova in the 1978 to early 1981. Stock 350/290 hp. 650 holley, 4spd, 373 gears. Had a blast. Learned a lot. Now, all these years later,, its a clapped out 75 Corvette that I'm starting to rebuild. Looking for 400hp. Please continue with the videos at your leisure of course. I'll stay tuned for more. Thanks much.
The authenticity of you and your family’s channels is part of what draws people in and keeps them here. You all are an inspiration to many because of the real life aspect of your videos. Also, change can be difficult at times but just keep looking for the good in it, try to stay positive and keep pressing forward. Years later looking back, it will all make more sense. 🙏🏼
You'd be surprised how many people out here do not know enough about carburetor and timing tuning. You started a while back giving your knowledge and experience. I for one would greatly benefit from more content! Hang in there man, we're all feelin it too.
You're just fkn awesome Bill. You're real and don't sugar coat shit. That's why we love watching this channel. And to top that off just old school and some of us were raised the same way and it just reminds of us growing up in the shop with our fathers.
Yea sure there are plenty other TH-cam channels that do racing content but I can't think of a single one that's as down to earth and relatable as SRC. Keep up the good work Bill.
Hi mr. Bill. I'd like to send you a couple of bags of beef jerky for Christmas. My family has a butcher shop and I can almost guarantee it will be one of your favorite brands. You have helped me in many ways and I would like to show my appreciation. I've managed to get almost everyone I know hooked on this stuff!
Thanks Bill! I have preached this for years! So many people don’t understand how important initial timing is, and that the carb should not be touched until the timing set up is correctly! And thank you for telling people the CORRECT way vacuum advance should be hooked up! So many times I see stock HEI used in a performance setting, and they cannot be set up properly without some major work.
Old friends are irreplaceable, their hearts and intentions are always genuine. Thanks for the carburetor tech. The way you explain it made it a lot easier for me to comprehend. We'd love to see more of this kind of content. Thanks so much for sharing. Take care, be safe, and have fun regardless!!!
Bill I've gotta say. You have beautiful penmanship. That sticker is already on the back window of my old Squarebody. Gathered the ingredients for the Carmel Bars. Going to attempt to make them tomorrow. Thank you for your kind words. Also that's one sweet Black Nova 😎🤘🇺🇸 #MrsVickiRocks
@@momhoskinson2813 he does! I was really surprised lol. Cursive writing should be mandatory for all schools again. We're hoping they turn out good and I'm excited. Told my mom it came in the mail. She said lemme see that recipe. She looked at it and oh yeah we got this. Momma show you how to do it. She said I hope mine are as good as hers lol. I've never tasted yours but even if hers ain't the best. I'm gonna lie and say they're perfect 😂😂❤
Bil u absolutely make my day .watching ur life struggle are real not staged.pls do some merch ,the time is nigh.ur channel is stand alone aside from what billy does. Thank u hea
its the small town "american dream" feel of your videos. the blue collar humor, the pups, your wife (not in that order, sorry miss vicki). the boys, your equipment, your dads life, your brother etc. i would give my left n#t for your home shop, and iv worked in some pretty big shops in my day. you said previously that you dont want people "idolizing you". i really dont think most do, however, i do think alot envy you. your boys have taken the steps to more responsibilty for themselves, which means waking up some dreams you put on the shelf 25 years ago. have at it bill, you deserve it, and if you dont mind, take us along with you!
Excellent call on that one ,when you can’t see the forest for the trees !! And then you see the light ,it makes you realize sometimes even stuff that’s appears major is understanding the how it all works in sequence !!!! Thanks for a great class
It's cuz some of us actually think your a cool dude and share same interests as you. Some of us actually can relate to everything that may upset you( that close up of your toolbox). Some of us can't work on cars like they would like to or did when they were younger due to physical limitations ( living thru you vicariously maybe). I'm 52 now and had a nice 79 Camaro with a healthy 355 in my late teens and early 20's. Nice clean car, 4.10 rear end, healthy trans, ran good. One small problem.......it had the exact problem as this Nova in this video. I had a 72 Nova as well. Black on black. Nice car. This video reminded me of mine. I hope this may shed some light on to as why this is one of my favorite channels. I didn't wait to shake anybody else's hand at Onandaga. You're a good dude Sr.
Thanks bill been building these carbs for many years , I am so glad you said it I find trouble with timing more than carb problems . Once you get your power valve correct and idle mixture set go for the timing to clean it up . Thanks again bill 👍
Your Nova is really nice. I can't wait till you get back to that car. Hate to see it just sitting on the side of your shop. You have so much history with that car. Great video.
Thank you for sharing your world to the rest of us. It’s not an easy thing to do with all the mud slinger’s waiting to strike on someone so they feel good about themselves. Hearing your voice and watching your video’s everyday has been like a daily church service for me and I thank you for continuing to share your stories during these hard times you and Vicky are going through. Thank you
Hey Bill, One Of The Most Important Reasons Why I Watch Your Videos And Follow Your Chanel Is Exactly Because Of The Family Connection In Your Content. It Speaks Absolute Volumes About Hou Much Love You All Have For One And Other, And It's Highly Appreciated! (Robby ~ South Africa)
I watch you more than Billy's channel. I connect more with you because I'm your age and absolutely love your content you put out no matter how bad you think it might be. You're honest and down to earth and that's probably why a lot of people watch your channel. I would love to meet up with you some day and talk about racing. I did a little but not much. I'd actually like to get back into it. I have a few cars I could race but idk at this point, they wouldn't be very fast. Basically just street cars. Plus I'm not far from you.
Watched your video and man, you saved my bacon. I have a 383 stroker that for the life of me I could not get to run correctly. You were right about the timing. Increased it four degrees and like magic the engine came alive. I thought it was only a carburetor problem because the timing was within manufactures specs, but it was exactly what you said. Once the timing was advanced, the other adjustments on the carburetor were straight forward. Old guys rule for sure. Thanks.
I personally connect with you and your family because we share the same values and stand on the same principals. Not to mention the racing aspect which is amazing! The behind the scenes content is why I think you are finding a following where some others are not. I basically just repeated what you already said! 😆
Bill thank you for the videos. I dont normally comment on videos. I love watching yalls channels because they remind me of my relationship i had with my father. He passed away in 2016. I was the same way as Billy is. I wish i could talk to him and tell him " Do everything you can to keep your dad involved in some way of your every day life. Because when he is gone you can never get that time back". I missed so much time with my dad due to girlfriends and me thinking i knew everything. Then i missed 12 years due to being in the Navy. Thank you Bill for letting me feel like im watching my dad. You and him could of been best friends. Thank you again and God bless.
Bill that is exactly why I watch you and your son's videos! Real life and sometimes it sucks!! Keep it up and love the how too videos, cussed many a carburetor and Im pretty sure timing was the issue!!
Bill that's one of the biggest reasons I watch yin's channel is the family aspect of it although y'all has some bad ass rides and the teaching aspects of the channel is absolutely awesome, your everyday ups and downs highs and lows and the love y'all show most times towards one another is key. I really enjoy watching y'all's channel and can't wait for the new and upcoming season and videos. Thank y'all , all y'all for your honesty and keep it real. Hope y'all have a great safe and fun season. Thank y'all again Denny Halbert
I love your channel bill !! I look forward to everyone you put out.. Your a hell of a good man and father its easy too see you love your kids , an Murder Nova prolly wants too come watch you all race and hangout with you like a bunch of us do , an thats just because you all are awesome people an a great family to be around !! Keep that Content Coming Bill ! 👍
I agree 100%. Y’all show the good bad and ugly sides of it all and we connect with you because of that. It is something everyone can relate with. Life isn’t glamour. It is struggle, decisions, hard times, perseverance over these things.
Love your videos! The thing I like most is the family aspect. The way everyone is involved. I feel like I have known you all for a very long time! The way that you explain how to do do things is very informative. Please keep up the great work! Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Wow! Great advice, I’ve been dealing with this exact issue for 12 freaking years and thought it was just something I had to live with. SBC with a lot of cam and carb and terrible off idle manners, set my initial to 36 degrees after this video and damn... new rig. Thanks Old Man
We love your vids Bill! Your vulnerability and sacrifice of u and your family, putting it out there is why I look forward to watching your TH-cam channel more then any other! Real from the heart and true! We love u Bill!
I really enjoyed this Video Bill. I’m 62 and have been racing since I was 20. I’ve always raced Holley carburetors and I’ve always used a vacuum secondary Carb. Most people would never do that to a race car. It’s been very consistent for me. I think I’ve won my fair share of bracket races. Foot brake racing is what I do, my home track has a large foot brake class and currently pays the same as Super Pro. I have another disadvantage, I’ve raced SBF’s all these years lol. I also run a C4 trans and a 4,500 stall converter. I never wanted a Fox body but I found an amazing deal on a full tube chassis big tire (14X32) car. ❤
David Vizard has long been a big proponent of vacuum secondaries on streetable naturally aspirated bracket cars. The secondaries only open under a load which means they help modulate power to the tires. If the tires start slipping, engine load drops and the secondaries close up a bit. It does take a bit of testing/trial and error to get the spring just right though. You'll generally be quicker with mechanical secondaries if you have the suspension and tires to handle full power all the time, but for bracket racing it's all about consistency.
Well I can confidently say the editing is next level from Tommy. Not many intros get me pumped for the content that follows. Love all of the channels and the family!!! Much support
You hit the nail on the head and you do have the formula correct. It's about family. You knew that the whole time. Much love. Wish you and your family the best.
A good example of what you're saying at the end is looking at your '55 and your Nova. The shape they are in is from the sacrifices you've made. I've got projects like that too. Media tends to make us all want to have magazine-worthy cars. You're doing what you can like the rest of us. Its real.
I been waiting on the old man's video good timing for sure Mr old man!!! Just got home from slot car racing I take the 2 boys that lives next me I have no kids never married can't have kids 😢 but it is wat it is these 2 boys have no father figure at all the there so called father left when they 5 and 6 years old 💯💪 ur nova is gonna look good mr old man 💯😎 caint wait till u get started on ur nova bill🏁💯💪
I’ve often wondered how I can sit through dogs playing frisbee while wanting to see car videos. You hit it right on the head! I like watching all of your videos. Like you said, I can relate. I have a 15 year old son and we are starting a truck build together this winter. Keep doing what you do, it’s more personal than just watching cars race. Love the content on all three channels!
Bill, you have to realize that content doesn't trump quality in a TH-cam video! Love you guys and your videos, and look forward to new videos Every day about you and your kids. God bless and keep em coming!!!👍
Well I don't think I've ever commented that your channel before but I'm 52 years old and live in Arizona and have been a hot-rodder my whole life can't say I know a whole lot but I know a little bit about everything. But your videos are extra special above all the others definitely the family aspect is the winner. I never miss a video and I really enjoy everything you have to say and you teach as if you're teaching your son or somebody else that you actually care about when you talk. I think you're a great person
Heart is why your channel is better. I was a carb tuner in my youth, I loved it. Thank you for the inspiration. Life is what gets in the way. Well I’m going to start tuning again.
That was a gorgeous Nava love the 427 had a 68 chevelle ss with 427 4 gear 373 posi one bad machine. Very hard to beat back in mid 70s. I love ya'lls videos because ya'll down to earth tell it like it is you are so full of knowledge and taught your boys. I use to be pretty good with tunin carbureted engines but not on the level you are by no means. Family is everything and life is to short to not enjoy every minute. And none of the other channels has uncle bucko lol in reality ya'll just make me feel like if I lived close to ya'll I could come over and hang out n not get ran off or shot. Ya'll good folks and enjoyable to watch and learn from you've been there done that. Thanks for sharing
In my opinion, racing is the most family oriented sport that exists. The effort and focus it takes varies, but if you want to be successful, at any level, it takes everything you have. A joke says it best; “get your kids into racing because, they won’t have time to find trouble, or money for drugs & alcohol.” Racing makes for both good / challenging times, but makes memories that won’t be forgotten.
And this is exactly why I broke the bank to go racing with my kids. Kept them off the street and ensured they mixed with a good bunch of people. Thank goodness they went to university and I could stop blowing my pension on them racing. 🤷🏻♂️🤣🤣
Your one of a kind and that's a shame we need more honesty men like you who can show that hard work, and love for family is nothing to be ashamed of. Your doing great job!!!!
Sorry Bill i have to disagree: you’d be prepared to do a carburetor video anytime , anyplace ! Thanks for sharing your great depth of experience in easy to follow terms.
Thank you Bill sorry I should've put more info on moter it's a 406 11.1 compression brawler 850 carb. If you ever decide to take a appointment I'd love to get my setup tuned right in my 72 nova I'm located in muncie indiana
@@theoldmansgarage I have it at 36 now starts and runs good but plugs are rich and rich smell out exhaust like your buddy's in video. Willing to pay and drive to you if you ever change your mind message me. thank you for info I appreciate it just a newbie learning as I go
Man Bill, the quench and combustion chamber design would be a concern if the engine needs 42*. More times than not if an engine needs 40*+ timing the combustion chamber is inefficient, like those in many Pontiac V8 heads. Be leery arbitrarily trying to run an engine above 40* especially on pump gas; Inaudible detonation is a possibility, read the plugs carefully! JD
Can i quiz you on what you would consider acceptable initial and total on a big pontiac? I have recently fired up my 470ci , 235/245 duration, 9.3 comp, cast iron heads, single plane intake, cold cranks at 165psi. Currently set at 10 deg static mech with full manifold vac on the pot. It currently buuuuurnns my eyes bad in the shed. Cars not registered yet so have not had any road testing. Cheers for any help.
My wife said ur voice is soothing and could put her to sleep lol but fortunately for her I usually wake up and watch ur new videos every morning before work. I want to thank you Bill on keeping us up to date on everything that goes on. Like you said there’s a reason ur families TH-cam has taking off better than some others. Keep up the good work and I hope you guys have a merry Christmas 🎄
You are correct for me I love the fact that you tell the good and the bad it gives us the family feeling that my friend is priceless keep up the good work
Hey Bill. Just me personally I'd rather watch just one of your guy's videos than a month's worth of Cleetus or someone of that stature. Keep it real brother!
Cleetus is missing an opportunity to let Jackstand have his own camera and do a bit more technical tooling around the shop.. But agree, Cleet is like production line of just videos at the moment.
You nailed it "Old Man"... I can't speak for everyone else but, IMHO, the day-to-day interaction between the family is 100% the reason for the success of SRC. The addition and success of SRC Garage is proof of that beyond any doubt. The actual racing content is awesome but not the reason. People love the family much more than the racing. I think it has much to do with the times we're living in and people wanting to see normal families like theirs living normal lives. We don't know each other but it's like we're next-door neighbors. The good kind !! lol JMHO
Great video Bill, we appreciate you passing in years of knowledge when it comes to tuning carbureted cars. Keep up the great content. You also nailed it on why your channels continue to grow.
We love your family bill because you make us feel like family. You can't get that on almost all of the other channels. Love the format on both channels. Your definitely doing it right! Have a great week bill & fam
I generally start at 38/40 degrees on 350ci engines and work my way up
Better have a retard box to run a race cam on the street everyday!
Awesome tech advice. Bill could you go over the Power valve again some time for this type of setup. Say a engine that makes under 12” at 1000 RPM’s and how to pick the right power valve.
Absolutely! You are a good guy Bill. Keep doing what you do.
She is definitely the star of this deal.
Bill I enjoy all of your knowledge of carbs. Thanks
What a joy it is to listen to someone talking about cars/engines, who knows what they're talking about.
Personality and the family content are the best part of both of your channels! There are nicer racecars, bigger shops, but this one feels like home !
What I love about your channel is that you're real! You show you and the truth whether the camera is on or off. Thank you!
Been playing with cars for 25 years and you taught me something today.
Love your videos keep ‘em comin u are an inspiration to us back yard gear heads. I am building a SBC as we speak!
Bill, thank you for the priceless knowledge along the honest content. Your correct, people connect with your video's. God Bless the SRC family.
the reason i love this channel is the family part of it, for one thing you remind me so much of my dad. my father pasted away 22 years ago when i was 29 and the things i miss the most is just sitting down talking to him. if i had any words of advice for Billy And tommy it would be to cherish to time you have with your dad..
Just lovin’ your content Bill…
Thanks for the note about Vice Grip Garage , I just subscribed and will start watching later today.
That would be a great collaboration.
Yessir VICE GRIP IS A DAM TRIP!!!
I think you just explained all my problems with my car. I’ve been chasing the same problem. Thank you so much for explaining this!
Just an update…. I locked out the dizzy and it fixed the smelly problem! Thank you for all your videos, they help in more ways than you think
Mary Christmas 🎄 to all. May you all have a wonderful, epic day.❤💯
You'd be surprised how many people out here do not know enough about carburetor and timing tuning.
I appreciate it, but I’ve got beef jerky coming out my ears lately.
No problem
@@johnnycrashspecializedstre3435 sounds delicious brotha
FN love it! Keep it up Bill we stand behind you and your family. Great job you guys do keeps me on your pov on family and racing
He has beautiful cursive writing... puts mine to shame. Lol. Hope your bars turn out yummy!!
You’re welcome brother. Merry Christmas
He does.
@@theoldmansgarage Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Old Man. 😎🇺🇸
100% correct I like the fact of showing the family aspects of the channel it shows true values of the life of a racing family
I really cant figure out why but this is one of my favorite channels
I can’t figure it out either.
@@theoldmansgarage its probably because youre real and down to earth
Technology doesn't make your Chanel, you make this Chanel. You keep it honest and real . Thanks
What I’ve been waiting for all day
I believe your the most knowledgeable mechanic I've heard about carburetors and all around mechanics. Thank you for sharing , it's very valuable.
The family dynamic is why I keep watching! Just a normal family out having fun doing what they love! Keep it up
Thanks bill been building these carbs for many years , I am so glad you said it I find trouble with timing more than carb problems .
Once you get your power valve correct and idle mixture set go for the timing to clean it up .
Thanks again bill 👍
Love you old man that’s what’s up family 😎
Keeping it real Bill. Carry on sir, and miss Vickey and the 4 legged twin barrels. All the best and Merry Christmas from Christchurch New Zealand.
Great video ole man and remember the kids will always need you. Do your own thing and always be there for them.
You just taught me more about this issue in 10 minutes than I've been able to find in months. Thank you.
I’ve been waiting for your video tonight I’m so excited man let’s drink some mt dew and watch SRC
SBC with a lot of cam and carb and terrible off idle manners, set my initial to 36 degrees after this video and damn... new rig. Thanks Old Man
One night, Billy's carb, next night, another carb. You need to start watching your carbs big guy. LOL
We love your vids Bill! Your vulnerability and sacrifice of u and your family, putting it out there is why I look forward to watching your TH-cam channel more then any other! Real from the heart and true! We love u Bill!
Big homie! I needed your entertainment. I missed ya.
I really enjoyed this Video Bill.
I’m 62 and have been racing since I was 20. I’ve always raced Holley carburetors and I’ve always used a vacuum secondary
Carb.
I never wanted a Fox body but I found an amazing deal on a full tube chassis big tire
(14X32) car.
Tommy is a great editor I agree 100%.
He sets a great stage and pace with the intros.
You hit the nail on the head and you do have the formula correct. It's about family. You knew that the whole time. Much love. Wish you and your family the best.
Another good video Cooter the carburetor man!!!
Right on time 👌
I try to watch everyone of your videos there very inspiring keep up the amazing work you and your family are amazing folks
Nobody beats SRC Garage, best channel on youtube period. Like the Hoover commercial, nobody does it like you ol man
we like the music while u talk...... but can u turn it down a bit so us hard of hearing u can honestly hear u............??? plzz & thanks

another great video Bill, I could sit here and listen to you all day, thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I made the first comment 😆 love the videos Bill. Keep up the good work👌
You are correct for me I love the fact that you tell the good and the bad it gives us the family feeling that my friend is priceless keep up the good work
The good kind !! lol JMHO
Well dam.
Great video Bill, we appreciate you passing in years of knowledge when it comes to tuning carbureted cars. Keep up the great content.
You also nailed it on why your channels continue to grow.
MATH.
We love your family bill because you make us feel like family. You can't get that on almost all of the other channels. Love the format on both channels. Your definitely doing it right! Have a great week bill & fam
