- One of the most exciting parts of traveling full-time is moving to new areas and learning what it's like to live there. Today we move to Manhattan to be at the center of all of the fun and hustle and bustle. As soon as we got there, Mike took the older kids out to see the sights including the Chrysler building, Grand Central Station, and the NY Daily News Building.

Aww. It's unfortunate that most of your adopted children don't remember how to speak their first language. Being bilingual definitely gives a person the upper hand once they enter the workforce.
My grandmother only spoke Norwegian until she started school and she was forbidden to speak anything but English there. She only remembered a handful of Norwegian words when she was older and she always regretted it. 😕
+Lindsey Pindsey when they came home we wanted them to focus on feeling like a member of the family and not have the stress of continuing to be bilingual. I hope that they want to learn Chinese again but i'm going to leave that up to them!
Knorpp and South I totally understand. ☺
Knorpp and South its also hard on you becausr if you guys don't speak the language its difficult to communicate with them.
Knorpp and South please don't let them lose their Chinese! I understand the focus on English in the beginning but you have a fluent Chinese speaker in the house for a few more years ... really take advantage of that ... and it's something you should push because at this age, they (and you also, not being bi- lingual) have no idea how useful that will be in their future. I regret more than I can tell you my parents not wanting to push their 2nd language onto us kids. There are some things you should push and some you should leave. This is not one of the things to leave.
Knorpp and South learning is a lot easier for kids, but they don't always realize the importance of it. I really wish my parents pushed me to stick to at least one instrument and one sport, as I get bored easily, and whenever I start losing interest, my parents threaten to stop lessons, but as a child I couldn't care less. that's why I know a bit of everything, but none are good enough to actually be a talent.
I loved the montage of the kids asking questions
I did, too. So cute!!
Asher is hilariously full of questions!
Becca Russell yeah everyone knows that The child who full of questions are intelligent
that compliation of all the questions made me laugh so much. Mike's patience is impressive. Such a great dad!
I think it is so weird how they would forget their main language, but than again going through the whole traumatic process they went trough is understandable.. It is so nice that you give Daniel his space and allow him to keep in contact with his older friends, being adopted this old must be so hard for a family and a child.. Much love!
the compilation of all the questions made me laugh so hard!!!! i work with kids and can totally relate haha.
I really enjoyed listening to Daniel speak another language it was really cool. Being bilingual can only benefit them and give them more opportunities, keep it up!
Perhaps Daniel could talk to them in Chinese regularly to keep them bilingual? loving your videos guys, hi from England X
I think he should too
I agree. Having two languages is a gift, especially if they're both in the big five most spoken languages in the world.
Tizzy Quigley agreed! I am also adopted from China and wish I could speak Chinese. Being bilingual will open up a world of opportunities for them
Rachel Selby In Switzerland speaking two languages would not be considered a gift. Why? The kids speak only Swiss German until say about age five/six then when they start school in the first grade they have to learn German and English. Then in third grade they start with French. Plus a high level of mathematics is learnt in addition to other subjects. So the majority of Swiss speak the abovementioned languages. In high school they can learn Italian, Spanish or what they fancy. This is for the German part of Switzerland. But in the French or Italian part they would start with one of those languages first. We have to be trilingual purely for life and business purposes. The school system is very good and Swiss kids go to state schools seldom private. Private schools are for expatriate kids or kids who cannot keep up with the Swiss state system. So kids in English speaking countries have an easy life as far as languages are concerned. The Knorpps should get a Chinese teacher /au pair when they stop travelling. These days Chinese is becoming an important language.
Yeah it would be cool for the whole family to learn. Daniel's English is getting good so a bilingual family must be fun.
Aww baby Asher is quite the talker. He is so quiet now. All the kids are so little!
When you watch Asher asking all the questions you see all the other kids waiting for the answers, so his inquisitive mind is benefiting them all 👍🏼
I love that you are so honoring of your children and encourage them to speak their native language without forcing them to speak it. You are a wonderful mother, and know what is best for them!
You guys are my favorite TH-cam family... I hope u guys the best of luck and safe travels. Much love and prayers from me
Wow another nice apartment!! I just can't get over what a wonderful thing you guys are doing. Not just for yourselves but the kids will have such great memories and are learning so many things first hand instead out of books.
My son is 9 and he's the same, constant questions!! I adore watching your family and I have to say I was a little sad to see an empty seat where Elijah usually was! Best wishes from the UK x
Man I love when mike is like narrating the vlogs, he is a natural haha 😂
My parents are from Mexico and I was born in USA they always believe that I should learn Spanish and English. Which I now know both of these languages it's a gift to know both language Spanish and English which I really appreciate knowing these two languages. Currently right now I'm trying to learn mandarin Chinese which I know some words but I'm still studying.
Jose Garcia same! My parents always made me speak Spanish at home. They wouldn't answer me if I spoke or asked for something in English lol even tho they understood and spoke it well. I really appreciate them doing that for me bc I have friends that don't speak it fluently and that's so sad to me. I'm actually also trying to become trilingual and am teaching myself Korean. Hopefully one day I can visit the country! Good luck with the learning!
Xiomara Rodriguez Reyes good luck on learning Korea language and someday I'll visit shanghai, china and currently learning mandarin but still good Luck on it and someday you'll go to Korea!
I love how inquisitive Asher is, it's amazing! Keep asking questions!
Peppermint & wild orange is one of my favorite combos to diffuse! I love the way it kills bad odors, "scrubs" the air, and perks me up in the afternoons at work. My co-workers request it now! Love, love, love my doTerra essential oils.
I don't know how I fell into your channel but really lovely family and the fact that these children are adopted there's not many children that travel around the world that tells me that they spend more time with the kids which is beautiful
Wow! It definitely seems like eve, Jude and Daniel have been home fore a lot longer! crazy! It's amazing watching how kind and sweet your family is and how much they love each other!
I truly get so excited when I see a notification from you guys. I love watching your family. Thank you for sharing your experience and your journey.
Oh boy, does Asher asking all his questions remind me of my seven year old Emma! She has more questions than I will ever have answers.
Luv to see you all, you both looking a bit tired, will you promise to take care of yourselves, Mom & Dad, you are truly blessed & surrounded by luv always remember that ok, no matter what you are truly luv'd. Praying for all of you-💞💞💞💓💓
Mike looked rough after that adventure! reminds me of when my son talks to me about Minecraft all day! 😂
I hope the kids can one day be inspired to learn their first language. Spanish was my first language, but I stopped speaking it due to bullies and kind of forgot it. I picked it up again in high school though 🙂
I watch these videos with a constant smile. So much positivity and beauty! Thank you for sharing these. I'm surprised y'all haven't been approached to do a network reality tv show.
😂😂😂😅😁 Eve's answers to Daniel's chinese questions
I have a cousin who hated Hong Kong and wasn''t the only Chinese New Yorker to feel that way - her mother dragged her to many herbal shops.
I got taken to hotel coffee shops and malls. :) I don't think it's ever too late to love something that you thought you hated and you can always try and try again until you find what works for you so I think it's okay if the kids feel alienated or reject something that people think they SHOULD like.
Loved this! I say we start answering the questions. If I went back in time by myself, what would I do? I would go to a Beatles concert! 🎶🎵🎶 😊
Hi Knorpp family I've fallen in love with your beautiful family over the last couple months. I've watched almost all your videos. I have a couple more to go tho lol.. I truly Love how you run your family and how you have faith in the lord. I'm in love with the way you guys are in love with all your children and how you have adopted other amazing children. Your family is totally going to be blessed and your blessings will be passed onto all your children. you both are truly amazing parents and millions of people need to see your wonderful family and learn from you both on how to raise children with a strong faith. I've prayed for Eliga for God's angels to protect him and keep him safe instill he arrives back safe. I love every vlog. your truly remarkable people.
+Crystal Hurb - thank you! We love you too!
What an amazing adventure you are providing your family! 😊👍
That Asher part has me CRACKING up while waiting in a cvs lol (people were staring)
So cool to see you guys go to the Chrysler building. My dad worked there for 8 years and it was always such an exciting part of my childhood going to visit him at work
Wow, your kids have so many ideas, I feel school has taken away learning for fun for me and it feels more like a chore.
My husband & I just look our kids to NYC for a week and it was amazing, there was so much to see! We also stayed in Midtown, which made sightseeing so convenient. Great vlog!
+Alyssia Cerullo - thank you! Midtown is where it's at!
Hello from the Czech Republic in Europe.I greet the whole family. You are the best and most beautiful family on TH-cam.Thank you for the beautiful videos.I'm sending hug.I love your family.❤❤❤
Asher is so smart and cute. Loved his questions and facts!
Asher's questions edit killed me with laughter! Love the curious mind but the editing was hilarious!
Those apartments in manhattan are awesome. Gorgeous views. My sister lived down the street from Lincoln center. It was a great neighborhood on the upper west side.
happy to see you all days
When I started 1st grade I was SO SCARED because I didn't know a single English word! Pure Spanish. By the end of the year I spoke fluent English and my teacher was amazed at how quickly I learned a new language. My mom only speaks and understands Spanish so I always speak Spanish at home because that's the only way to communicate w/ her and because of that I still speak fluent Spanish as well. Knowing 2 languages is such a blessing. I'm currently learning French so far I can only count to 20 and say a few things like "hello my name is" and "nice to meet you what's your name" just the basics for know but I'm sure I'll step it up if I try hard enough. I LOVE YOIR VIDEOS BTW ☺️
💕💕
The kids and their questions! They are cracking me up!
If you go back to grand central station look for the archway that you wisper in one side and you can hear it on then the other side.
LOL LOVE LOVE the question montage, such inquisitive wee minds and a thirst for learning!👍
Wonderful! Thanks for sharing another experience. I love it!
I'm so mesmerized on how Asher is so curious about what he sees and think 😄 but at the same time kinda not use to seeing Andrew being quiet about things..😄😄
You guys have created an essential oil monster. I'm looking up things multiple times a day lol I'm loving it!
This video gave me parenting feels. I have 3 turbo question asking super talking boys too. Also that moment every evening when I check the clock and it's NOT bedtime yet!! Have fun in Manhattan!
i cracked up at the montage of the kids questions it was amazing because i remember when i used to ask so many questions
I loved all those wonderful questions .. What an intuitive baby ❤️
I just love watching your videos because I see God in all of you and in Everything you do and all that surrounds you. xo Love from Canada
I love all the questions! I think it just goes to show how much your traveling and learning while you go are working. :)
I love Andrew's crazy questions! Is green inherently the colour of go? LOL. I think so. Love how his brain works.
Can't believe you guys are so close by! Hope you guys are enjoying the city ❤️😃
Loving the new place! & happy to see the family is lively as ever :D Always an adventure where ever.
Dad was "very wrong." What kid doesn't love to say that? haha This video had me chuckling. :)
Pearl should practice with Daniel, it would be a shame to lose her native language.
Ha! the questions from the kiddos! Awesome. sounds like mine
So many thoughts and questions, basically exactly the same as my little brother
You should be sure to do the Top of the Rock! It's very exciting, the kids will
love it. Also, if you pay in advance it's deeply discounted 45 or 50% off. The lines are shorter than the Empire State Bldg. Interesting history, etc. Love the videos. Following a stressful day at work I look forward to coming home, relaxing and watching your videos. I'm disappointed when there isn't one.
Love your hair Megan! Mike looks younger with his beard trimmed!
Marcia Gratz Yes, the new hair cut and beard trim are very flattering.
hi guys, I noticed you have a lot of different types of luggage. to be able to spot them easier when flying. put scarfs or one color tape on the handles. don't use a common color, maybe some unusual. then you won't struggle spotting your luggage in the conveyor belt in the airports or if someone takes it by mistake. I hope you all have a great time in Europe. I can't wait until you're in Ireland. that's one of my dream trips.
such a sweet video! Thanks for sharing.
You guys should take a photo with all of you in front of each of the houses you stay in! Put them all together and frame them if you ever decide to stop traveling.
Love you guys, what beautiful family!
How are you guys gonna get your silver play button???
The Gaming Brolax can probably have it shipped to a family members house and they can hold onto it in the mean time. Or mail it to them once they are in place long enough or to a post office they are nearby.
Hannah Roberts Oh
I love the misc. kid facts segment of the video! As mama to only one 4 yr old I'm constantly hearing the same. I can only imagine that multiplied by 9 lol
Oh gosh, you have the sweetest family xoxo
All your girls are cute, and all the boys are handsome. ;) Jude, and Eve make me smile every video! I LOVE YOUR FAMILY!!
my little brother, who is eight years younger than me, does the same thing all the time. He asks so many interesting question and says so many miscellaneous facts about nascar and all of his unique interests
Mike were you ready to change your name to something beside DADDY? LOL I just love the curiosity of kids and their 101 questions that is the one thing I miss about teaching, I don't miss the politics of the classroom but I miss my babies and the millions of questions and the wonder that they brought to my life everyday.
The montage of questions literally had me laughing out loud!!! Oh, kids!
I love you videos!!! Say hi to all the kids for me!
The montage of all the question was so funny I couldn't stop laughing because I have a younger brother who does the exact same thing 😂😂😂
have fun in the city!!! great vid
Andrew is so adorkable! ☺️ Lovely family! I am a new viewer! Love all the kids and the travels.
Fun...thanks for sharing.👍
hi i really love your video.and i hope one day i can meet all of you.
I was excited to see this video
Mike, I feel the same when I am done for the day, but its not the kids bed time!
boa Viagem turma aproveita as férias
"Dang it, its only 7:45" says every parent ever! 😂
The questions, so many questions!! 😂😂
LOL. "Ug, it's 7:45. I thought it was later." --been there, waiting for the clock to head to bed.
as usual, it made me smile
All the questions, I love it! Haha
love to watch your videos, great job and channel
What an adventure! 👍🏼
the new beard suits mike! and megan, ive always loved your comfy fashion style
keep the videos up and i love all your videos
Ha! my almost 7 year old is the same way with the facts and questions.
The van is as big as your family! Love your vlogs! :)
I just love you guys! I only have 3 kids and I'd be panicked walking through the city with them! haha if Mike was any more laid back he'd be asleep!!
I laughed so hard at the sequence of Asher talking along the walk 😂
As home schoolers I would suggest that Daniel's language skills become part of the curriculum. Where I live they have replaced Spanish and German with Chinese. I live in Wyoming. That would be so special for your Chinese children and their siblings. They are all so smart.
You guys should take the tram to Roosevelt Island. It has a pretty great view.
Your fam is complete goals :)
I don't know if you are still in Manhattan, but if you are take the kids and treat them to Momofuku Milk Bar. They have fun treats that are outside the box, like cereal milk ice cream, corn cookies, chocolate chip marshmallow cookies, birthday cake truffles, etc, etc. (My daughter works at the HQ in Williamsburg but they have several locations in Manhattan). Also, if you want some delish pizza, Artichoke Basille is awesome! Especially the artichoke and the Margherita. I have so enjoyed watching your sweet family.
Missing Elijah with you guys in today's vlog 💖 but I hope he is having fun in Japan!
Oh hey i'm early!!! Anyway love you guys❤
