Hi All. My mother passed away a few weeks ago. I have Metastatic Breast Cancer. I'm only 57. This was my mother's favorite song for my dad. HAll I need is the air that I breathe. Dad died last year. Mom followed. Devastated but sometimes, all I need is the air that I breathe and to love you.
Stay strong, I’m sure you’ll win! Even if everything seems like it’s going the wrong way, it’ll get better, I’m sure of it. Try to stay positive! You can do this! I believe in you, alright?!? Goodluck!! :D
Hi Julia - I'm dealing with the same disease as you and about the same age. You are not alone. We'll get through this. Let music help you through it. Stay strong!
Summer of 1974, I was a kid riding in the backseat of my dad's car and singing along to this. Hearing it now, transports me back to that wonderful, innocent time. The 70's were the best years of my life. Wish I could go back. ❤

I remember listening to this song on the radio in the car with my mother as a kid. I’m 37 now and have a 15 year old son. While riding in the car the other day, this song started to play on a station that rarely ever plays classic rock.. I started to cry. That very day marked the 16th year of my mother’s passing. Two weeks after her death, I found out I was pregnant with my son. To be in the car with my son on that very day 16 years later and to hear that song come over the airwaves like it did, gave me chills but warmed my heart at the same time. I looked at my son and said all I need is the air that I breathe and to love you.. ❤️💛💙

Franklyn Narine I'm still a bit weak, but so far my C125's [blood markers for ovarian cancer] have remained normal for the last 6 months. YAY! Thanks for asking. :)
I'm 70 years old, but I honestly believe that this only happens once or twice and only when you are young and unexperienced. It happened to me twice and I thank God for that experience.
Makes me realize how much today’s music has changed. Back then, no flashy production or auto-tune, just pure talent--the instruments, the feeling, and the story. If Allan Clarke asks me to stop and listen, I’d gladly let the whole world go quiet.
Why is it that music from the late 60's and early 70's is so well written and so well sung. Compare to today and artists just can't hold a candle to them
60s and 70s were the high water mark in music because in my opinion, that was because a social revolution was in progress..It ran out of steam by mid 80s and so did music.
Music today is formulaic. It's done this way to increase the odds it will be profitable. There are just a few people writing the songs for many artists.
Bo, musician's of the 1960's and to the mid-1970's were still largely ahead of the technology whereby you HAD TO possess talent and creativity; Yes's keyboard wizard, Rick Wakeman made a similar comment in the 1990's.
Such a beautiful song. One of the Hollies greatest. Allan Clarke's lead vocal, the harmonies, lead guitar solo. Take me back to 1974 any day. I love this now as much as I did as an 8 year old in 1974.The chorus is mesmerizing.
🌟When this song came out in the 70s I could hardly believe that music this good came through the air waves. When you're in your teens you tend to think you live in the best time for music. Plenty of fantastic music is made constantly.
Being a teenager living in north Philly a big city. I got to see all the great rock bands. The WHO 5 TIME'S AND Bruce Springsteen 4 times. Black Sabbath with Ozzy. Aerosmith 2 times Bob seger. Ha ha ha I could go on and on. But what you said about the best music ever. You are right 60s and 70s. Greatest rock music ever
Yes they do. The only reason the classics seem better is because they've already accumulated. Good music is still being released at the same pace as it always had
Remember my mom and dad having the last slow dance at many a family function to this tune, singing to her as he danced ..... god he loved my mum. I miss you dad our family has never been the same again since you left us x
@Debbie Scott and it always will be like that. can tell you that it will get easier, but for the rest of your life you will have Tastes, Smells, Sights, Sounds and songs that will always remind you of them. DONT let anyone tell you when to stop grieving. everyone has a different time clock for grief
Man, it's bittersweet...to lose such a great loving guy, but also to bare witnessed such a beautiful declaration of love in your own family... My own house is a cold place, no such PDA whatsoever...but at least I'm lucky that I still have both my parents, they've been married for 41 years now. I myself wasn't so lucky. I'm 39, divorced, and can't have children. And I'm an only child. When/if my currently elder and sick parents were gone, I would have nobody in this world anymore.
It's 2024 and I will hear this masterpiece as long as I live. Actually I am 66. Soon I will marry my beautiful 40 years old woman Lauren. Thank God on second marriage finally true love.
I wasn’t lucky in love but my adult Children are and i am so happy for them! Now I look at my granddaughter age 10 and I say…”All I need is the air that I breathe just to love you!” I’m 67 and grateful to be alive! April 2022, aware of the beauty and blessings around me💕♥️
Songs like these are confirmation that I, and other people of a certain age, lived through some of the finest music ever produced, so lucky to have lived through that era, this is a brilliant song by the always brilliant Hollies, saw them back in the day with their original line up, fantastic ! Lancashire’s finest 👍
Although I may be in generation Z, and deeply envy those who were able to live through the golden years of music.. I shall continue to admire, and keep these tunes alive.
@@ericktello231 I'm in my late 50's. That makes me ancient, right Erick? 🤣👌 Actually I was a young kid when I heard that song, but classic songs appeal to most age groups.
In my opinion the Hollies were in the top five of British Invasion Bands. That is the greatest music of that decade, and still stands the test of time!
Timeless classic. I hear songs that I can only tolerate for a minute, but when I hear this I turn it up and want to hear it again and again. It never gets old even though it is an old song.
I remember my Daddy really liked this song when I was 8 or 9 years old im 54 now! Dad passed last year. I miss you daddy, rest in peace, I miss you painfully
My wife works nights, and as she was going to bed the other morning I said to her "so sleep, pretty angel, go to sleep." She asked where that came from (besides my heart!) so I sang the "sometimes, all I need is the air that I breathe. Just to love you, all I need is the air that I breathe." I satirize a lot of songs, so she was waiting for the punch line. I said, "I can't mess with this one; it's too beautiful."
Funny, I'm 53 and I've heard this song my whole life having an older sister who had the 45 record. But Godzilla vs Kong did actually bring me here. I heard this song start up in the movie and I smiled immediately.
To all current pop singers, take note: no auto-tune, no computer simulation B. S. Just real singers, real musicians, real guitars, real percussion, and the talent to make great music.
Not sure why the gatekeeping? music can be made with anything, whether it be a 60 piece classical group or a dude with a laptop, just takes creativity.
so i can acknowledge good music and i like this song but to bash a whole bunch of genres just for how it’s made is so close minded. there’s a lot of creativity to be had with computers and autotune and means other than just a guitar and a voice. if you say that you don’t like any music with production on it, then you’re either lying or you’re just purposely preventing yourself from enjoying some good music.
A talent like this shouldn't have just gone away. This guys voice puts him up there with the greats like Freddie Mercury. His career was too short, his voice demands more decades of creating music.
This song pops up randomly in my mind and it always brings me to tears... my mum used to sing / hum it while doing chores at home - it is one of my favourite memories of her.
I'm 62....."heaven helps those who help themselves"....."I've been trying forever and heaven helped out".... hallelujah.... hallelujah..... Praise!!!! The Lord!!!.....for The Lord Our Father God is EVERYTHING!!!! (have mercy on us.)
I have mixed feelings. I love this song, the chords, the music, the voice... it's one of the most beautiful songs for me. But at the same time it gives me a lot of nostalgia and a lot of desire to cry. It doesn't remind me of anything or anyone in particular, maybe it's just the great feeling with which he sings.
Can understand that, I was only born 93' but this does make me even weirdly emotional! Makes me think of my grandparents that have now passed + being a child hearing this in the back of the car.
@Rickard Jönsson thanks I didn't know what that meant, so I googled it, and yes, it's definitely a melancholic tune that must be what makes it so powerful because it's a flood of emotions.
The guitar solo has that special wah-wah sound of the mid ‘70s. Several bands used it especially in their slow songs and I absolutely love that sound. I enjoyed your post and that’s what this song does for me…takes me back to school dances and carefree times.
Can't put into words how much this song hits my heart. The harmony. The lyrics are priceless. For some reason my cat 🐈 scooter would jump up on my desk when this song played. We both loved the song. Imagine that. Scooter passed away but I still listen to this song in his memory. I miss you bud see you on the other side
Thanks for the wonderful music, this is without doubt, one of the finest songs ever written, have a great Christmas and a fantastic New year. PEACE AND LOVE TO EVERYONE ❤❤.
I remember this playing in the early 90's and I borrowed some of the lyrics to impress this young lady, we're still married to this day with 2 beautiful children, thanks to The Hollies
Roland Rinke Jawohl, ich auch. Prüfen die Band Exile, Dich Überall Küssen. (Kiss You All Over). Wünsche einer guten Gruppe diese auf Deutsch singen. th-cam.com/video/8GymGszRFN8/w-d-xo.html
Marion, I'm going to disagree with you. 'Don't Worry Baby' by Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys is the greatest love song ever written. Listen to these harmonies. Heavenly! th-cam.com/video/9Y-0nWVdBH4/w-d-xo.html
I agree Wud Dude on the harmonies, but this one evokes a mood and emotion that has not been captured elsewhere. Take this line "Peace came up on me and it leaves me weak..."
One of the most beautiful songs ever written. I was lucky enough to meet the drummer when I was a kid growing up in Lancashire, having no idea how profound they truly were
+loh seong Why do you always need to bring up jesus some people just dont want jesus in their life and its wrong to force that in their lives. Everywhere i go jesus jesus jesus
Two years away from its 50th anniversary this song, but such a great one. Old is gold when it comes to music and it certainly applies to this song. A genuine work of art.
Guitars, drums, strings, horns, fabulous vocals. A thing of beauty. Audio engineering of this song (and I believe the entire album) by the masterful touch of the great Alan Parsons.
@@limoncellosmith7594 here’s what you do: go to your favorite search engine and type in the words “air that I breath Alan parsons” and tell me what you find.

39 and it's never happened
i feel it now with my wife were in our 60's and going strong
Makes me realize how much today’s music has changed. Back then, no flashy production or auto-tune, just pure talent--the instruments, the feeling, and the story. If Allan Clarke asks me to stop and listen, I’d gladly let the whole world go quiet.
These were the days when songs were written from the heart. Every word is understandable and sung wonderful.
And no filthy lyrics or words. I hate songs that are like that.
not a truer word was spoken...i feel ya..!
This was when music was REAL!!!😍🎶
One of the most underrated bands of all times !! Been listening for 50 years and still love there music 4/2023 🎶
Same here 23 April 2023. I ❤️them 50 years ago and still do. They should have had more success ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Their treatment of the song is beautiful but Albert Hammond did the original.
There are just a few people writing the songs for many artists.
.I'm 62 years old I live this long
You hit the nail on the head. I'm 64 and my generation's music is seriously the best ever. Wonderous!
One of the best songs ever made. Allan’s voice is amazing.
🌟When this song came out in the 70s I could hardly believe that music this good came through the air waves. When you're in your teens you tend to think you live in the best time for music. Plenty of fantastic music is made constantly.
😢
Being a teenager living in north Philly a big city. I got to see all the great rock bands. The WHO 5 TIME'S AND Bruce Springsteen 4 times. Black Sabbath with Ozzy. Aerosmith 2 times Bob seger. Ha ha ha I could go on and on. But what you said about the best music ever. You are right 60s and 70s. Greatest rock music ever
We did.
@@joannstrunk5519 yes we did grow up in the greatest time of rock music
Thank you for the lovely comments. Love and peace to you all❤️
This song makes my hair stand on end and sends chills down my spine. A true classic that stands the test of time.
One of the few songs that's ever done that to me
Same here.
I bought the single! I was 11 in 1974. I was just mesmerized by the beauty of this song and the vocal harmonies in the chorus. Just ethereal.
They don't make em like they used to is a bit of an understatement. This song is a whole mood.
Yes they do. The only reason the classics seem better is because they've already accumulated. Good music is still being released at the same pace as it always had
Hell, look at igor, to pimp a butterfly, a moon shaped pool, etc. the list goes on and on
No singer songwriters no more
Remember my mom and dad having the last slow dance at many a family function to this tune, singing to her as he danced ..... god he loved my mum.
I miss you dad our family has never been the same again since you left us x
know that feeling no longer have mine, or my mom and two older brothers
@Debbie Scott and it always will be like that. can tell you that it will get easier, but for the rest of your life you will have Tastes, Smells, Sights, Sounds and songs that will always remind you of them. DONT let anyone tell you when to stop grieving. everyone has a different time clock for grief
Memories of hot, summer nights at Myrtle Beach with my siblings, cousins, and friends.
@@LadyVoldemort 39 is young my love, lots of life for the living yet xxx
Sometimes...all I need is to hear this song to take me back to a time before all the hate and negativity in the world.
Doesn't it feel like another lifetime ago. SO SPECIAL!!!
There was plenty of negativity back then, but if you were a child you were probably sheltered from it.
Cassandra Nelson True. Viet Nam war protests were ever present.

It's 2024 and I will hear this masterpiece as long as I live. Actually I am 66. Soon I will marry my beautiful 40 years old woman Lauren. Thank God on second marriage finally true love.

Hello beautiful angel, how are you and how's your family, i hope you enjoyed the music video you watched?
@@markmilley472 Oh boy, what a loser and what a silly way to desperate try to get a woman's attention!
I too saw them in the 60's I'm 70 now and still love them!!!
It's even nicer being able to still hear it. Plug in my ears, turn on phone. I can take my mind back anywhere in my past and remember.....
Without question, Steve.
We did live in a great era of music that really meant something and had a meaning. A song you can dedicate to some one you love.
Although I may be in generation Z, and deeply envy those who were able to live through the golden years of music.. I shall continue to admire, and keep these tunes alive.
My late husbands favourite love song. He made it to 92, I'm not far behind. I play it often very loudly just hoping maybe he can hear it!
The best song of the 1970's . Pure emotional, romance, love, spiritual, eternal flame of Everlasting love. Pure magic.
Don't write songs like this anymore
@@pamelawhitelaw1458 Ok, sorry, I won't
I love this song, and its lyrics, but I wouldn't call it "spiritual". It's actually quite materialistic and flesh-y.
Best song of the seventies is 'Baker Street'. ;-)
@@dopo8333 I definitely would say spiritual, you can feel good song in your soul
This song played whilst I watched my Son being born. We are now listening to it on his eleventh birthday. Love you my beautiful boy.

Michele Seifert me too but I definitely like it in the version creep by Radiohead :)
Remember when Bug Hall as Alfalfa sang this song to Darla in 1994’s The Little Rascals Movie 😂
Hello Caryn, how is everything going with you?

My father just passed last Sunday. This is my mom and dads song from the 70’s. 😢❤
May the lord above bless you this hard xmas
Condolence 🙏🏻
My wife works nights, and as she was going to bed the other morning I said to her "so sleep, pretty angel, go to sleep." She asked where that came from (besides my heart!) so I sang the "sometimes, all I need is the air that I breathe. Just to love you, all I need is the air that I breathe." I satirize a lot of songs, so she was waiting for the punch line. I said, "I can't mess with this one; it's too beautiful."
❤❤❤
god bless you

To all current pop singers, take note: no auto-tune, no computer simulation B. S. Just real singers, real musicians, real guitars, real percussion, and the talent to make great music.
Real stars
Not sure why the gatekeeping? music can be made with anything, whether it be a 60 piece classical group or a dude with a laptop, just takes creativity.
so i can acknowledge good music and i like this song but to bash a whole bunch of genres just for how it’s made is so close minded. there’s a lot of creativity to be had with computers and autotune and means other than just a guitar and a voice. if you say that you don’t like any music with production on it, then you’re either lying or you’re just purposely preventing yourself from enjoying some good music.
Yes!!!
Radiohead would like to have a word with you
This has to be up there with some of the best songs of all time.
Essa música me transporta para um tempo que eu vivi intensamente, eu era tão feliz.
Nunca vou deixar de ouvir essa bela música
A talent like this shouldn't have just gone away. This guys voice puts him up there with the greats like Freddie Mercury. His career was too short, his voice demands more decades of creating music.
Thats a bit much. Good song
Carol so true !
Carol don’t you dare compare anyone to Freddie... that’s heresy

He was as gorgeous as he was talented.. I saw them live in the 60's..
Heard this tune way back in the 70s, now at 67 i'm trying to learn it on guitar!! Great song!!!
I am 81going on 82 and still love this piece of music and fantasize dancing with my lover.
This song pops up randomly in my mind and it always brings me to tears... my mum used to sing / hum it while doing chores at home - it is one of my favourite memories of her.

Praise!!!! The Lord!!!.....for The Lord Our Father God is EVERYTHING!!!! (have mercy on us.)
My dad always said that. Well god helps those who help themselves
The passing of time is momentous isn't it? I think I understand what you mean. It is an intense nostalgia and de ja vu.
If I were to write down how this song makes me feel, it would be in your words exactly
Can't put into words how much this song hits my heart. The harmony. The lyrics are priceless. For some reason my cat 🐈 scooter would jump up on my desk when this song played. We both loved the song. I agree Wud Dude on the harmonies, but this one evokes a mood and emotion that has not been captured elsewhere. Take this line "Peace came up on me and it leaves me weak..."
