I have only one brother, little brother, but he was always hated me for no reason since i can remember. He lied so many about us while keep playing and taking advantage of me n my family. He is really weighed on me.., took me awhile to understand : no matter how cruel he was and he is to me, he is still my brother.. and the best gift God gave to me through him - is : i can experience and finally understand what does it mean of TRUE FORGIVENESS.. He aint heavy, he is n will be always my brother.. i let your approval go brother.. ❤❤❤

My brother died on August 4th , 1986 from lung cancer, at the ripe old age of 37! I was 35. I’m now 72, but there is seldom a day goes by that I don’t think about him. He was a pain in the butt sometimes, but I wish he was here now. I love you Bob, see you in my dreams and hopefully be with you one day
My husband was a biker they played this at hi funeral 6 years ago...wasn't able to listen without crying...now I just smile and think of all the good memories we made❤
This song reminds me of my brother who passed away in 1990 during an icy water rescue incident. The man was as fierce as they come, but would also give you the shirt off his back and could not part company without a hug and saying “I love you”. The world could use more of him. You can look up the incident that happened at Convict Lake, CA in 1990.
I agree that the phrase or title is an ancient one and the song a mere 53 year-old tune (1969 January) but where and when did you only hear about the title and not the song, that is, until now, Susan? Just curious..
@@paidda I had quit listening to popular music mid 1968. My husband and I had just been married and he was going to be in college and seminary for the next 7 years. We didn't have time for radio or TV during that time. I was also taking classes and having babies. LOL We eventually had 7 children and did not get a TV until 1986! We were book worms.

This song was played at my grandpa's funeral many years ago, I forgot about this song until recently when I read the back of the eulogy pamphlet from that day which had the name of this song on it. My grandma gave me the two they handed out on that day this past week because I told her that despite the pain his loss caused that I forgot which day it was that he left us. Life has been hard on me over the years since then and even harder in the recent months, but my grandma told me that we are strong people and we will always find a way to carry on. RIP Grandpa; April 20th, 1964 - September 15th, 2004.
I have 4 sons the youngest has Autism. I teach my boys they all they got and they better always be there for each other . I’m 43 and my boys say don’t worry dad will take care of him. I never had a brother. This was my dad’s song he was the youngest of 5. I felt his pain. He had trouble with life and I had front seat. Life is much better now, and I’m forever greatfull we made it.
This reminds me of my brother (ex. Marine 1974). He wanted to go to Vietnam But He was still in HS. He's still alive but I don't know where He is. He has always told me The VA led to the death my other brother, another Ex. Marine. I wanted to go but I have flat Feet. My 3 uncles were also ex. Marines. This song hits hard.
This song..this song holds so much meaning and emotion for me. My brother died by suicide in 2017. This song started playing continuously on the radio within days of his death. My brother has never been heavy. He's my brother, forever loved and treasured in my heart. This song will always mean my brother is nearby.
Sad for your loss. I had a nut spoiled sister I always had to check on. I finally accepted if life was that bad- she had to do what she had to do. Received the call from my Mom. Sister dead. Wrong Sister!! The one who never threatened it- had so much abuse....Any way- lean on me -reminds me of her.
It's one of the most fabulous songs ever written and rendered!! The exquisite vocals rank with any ever performed by any artist. The Hollies hold a unique place in musical history for this timeless gem of a song.

My Dad 's name was Ricky Hanna!! Miss him everyday!!! 1957-1917 RIP Ricky Joe Hanna
For all the Vietnam combat vets who held their dying buddies and rubbed the mud and blood from their faces, telling them, "hang in there... bird's on the way, you're gonna make it," and watching their lives ebb away...thank you for being there.

A beautiful song with a beautiful message.
In the 1940’s there was a poster of a young boy carrying his little brother on his back. The caption read. “He ain’t heavy, Mister. He’s my brother”
That according to some people was where Alan Clarke got the inspiration for this song.

This song was played at my brothers funeral. The words hit home because if we had known he was in his last days, we would have carried him..
When my brother was dying, I suggested this song to him, and said he wanted cheerful songs, and gave us a list.
Playing this at my grandpas fueneral today. I can relate to doing different had you known. I would have done different

I'm not ready to watch the last grand tour, I'm not ready to put that part of my childhood to rest. Been watching the boys since the early 2000s
After nursing my younger brother through Cancer and his passing, this was played at his funeral. Still brings me to tears.😢💜

I lost my twin brother 2 weeks ago he a great lad and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him love you brov ❤❤❤❤
Amen My Friend!

I lost my brother many years ago, he wasn’t a model citizen for sure, however he was and still is my brother. He taught me so much about life. While he was mostly on the wrong path of every issue, I learned to walk a different path. I still wonder if he was protecting me somehow? Who knows? I just know I love and miss him. I really appreciate this song in so many ways. I wish and hope all whom read this message, happiness, health and success. And thank you for reading this.. all the best….

My brother died on August 4th , 1986 from lung cancer, at the ripe old age of 37! I was 35. I’m now 72, but there is seldom a day goes by that I don’t think about him.
I feel your sadness *hugs*
We played this song at both of my brothers funerals - they died 11 months apart and I'm the last brother left. Our mum loved this song.
I am 73 years old and this is the first time I have heard this song. I have only heard of the title.
Waah really..why late
I agree that the phrase or title is an ancient one and the song a mere 53 year-old tune (1969 January) but where and when did you only hear about the title and not the song, that is, until now, Susan? Just curious..
@@paidda I had quit listening to popular music mid 1968. My husband and I had just been married and he was going to be in college and seminary for the next 7 years. We didn't have time for radio or TV during that time. I was also taking classes and having babies. LOL We eventually had 7 children and did not get a TV until 1986! We were book worms.
@@SueTwee that's so remarkable. No time wasted then. I salute your thoughts and decisions early on, and your husband's, too.. takes two to tango, after all. Thanks for the reply 👍

Life is much better now, and I’m forever greatfull we made it.
you have to be a wonderful dad with 4 great sons,
This reminds me of my brother (ex.
Peace to you.
That's a shame
may our loving heavenly father be with you in your sorrow. .you will see your brother again in a better world that is coming.

It's one of the most fabulous songs ever written and rendered!! The exquisite vocals rank with any ever performed by any artist. No song has a deeper, more desperately needed message than "He ain't heavy, he's my brother." It's moral and humane expression of caring for our fellow man has never been surpassed. The Hollies hold a unique place in musical history for this timeless gem of a song.
We owe a lot to our Veterans and especially our Vietnam Veterans. I used to work at the Veterans Home if California great bunch of men and women. Thank you all for your service.

Whenever I heard this beautiful tune it always made me think of Stuart....even more so now with a heavy heart....but I can carry it because he's my brother

This song kills my heart as i never got to say goodbye to my Eldest brother Rab who passed in 2018 from a 4 month battle with stage 4 lung cancer and bone metatarsal 😢 I miss him so much.
This song hits home especially for us who had friends and family who were in the Vietnam war. Just young boys on the cusp of becoming men. Some of my friends came home, some not. If we could love one another as we were created in love, what a beautiful world this would be.Im 70 now, a widow of a retired disabled veteran. I've read so many comments and my heart brakes for all of you. We all have a story to tell. Jesus said we are passers-by, we will be with the ones who have returned home. We are in this world but not of this world.I pray for everyone to find peace and love in their hearts.
Amen. The TRUTH.
GOD BLESS
