Giovanni La Licata It's a quote by Derrick May I think, about DJ's who never get the recognition, money or fame they deserved. It's in the original song.

OH GOD I WAS LIKE 4... played this on my Playstation when I knew fuck-all about driving. And this menu theme sounds just as awesome as it did back then!
I think half the time I used to play this game just because I loved the music. As a sax player, ?I might actually try a cover version of it with my jazz-fusion band.
O man the memories I can remember the first time I hear the song my Playstation I turned up the volume on my hifi just to listen it louder I think I listened to hit I couple times before I started to play the game Toca 2 classic ps1 game
Hugh Mann really?! It was hard for me too in 1998 when i was 12 and relative new to racing. After some time you get experience and you overtake the most of them in a race.
As a kid in 2000 (age 11), I indeed found the game very hard. I couldn't win the championship on Medium difficulty. I tried again in 2018, and this time won the season on Hard with relatively little difficulties (a few exciting races, to be sure). I guess the game's handling model gets easier with age and patience, as being too greedy on the power often leads to oversteer spins (and what are children if not brash and greedy).
I literally started listening to EZ Rollers about a week ago and this exact song from this game popped up in a video and I thought I was tripping. What are the fucking chances
@@TeckGeck I believe it is often referred to as liquid drum and bass. Like drum and bass with all the sharp edges smoothed over or a sped up version of trip-hop.

Racing game Music didn't have the authority to be THIS good and yet they continued to blow us away! EVERYTHING
For anybody thinking this is too short,
This is just an short edit of E-Z Rollers - Retro
they did TOCA 2 OST
Only coming back to this now years later and realising that this is basically a Jungle song, which I love :D
It's amazing.... Adam F- circles is also good one. What happend to dnb :,(
The amount of nostalgia this gives me blows my head off.
For anyone that likes this song as much as I do, this is a real song :) "Retro" by E-Z Rollers
you are a hero! thank you very much

I remember playing this at about 5 or 6 years old on my dads computer. So many memories with this song... :) thanks
25 years later, many digital championships in many different motorsports won and lost, but I'll always be "the newcomer" in TOCA 2
One of the chillest pieces of music ever made. Period. Full stop.
Yeah, I have 6 years old and i'm playing this game in my PS1 at afternoon, drinking a glass of orange juice.
Nostalgia
If you read this my son! This is Music!!!!! xD
remembrance of my childhood aswell because I was always playing this game and i preferred this to gran turismo
James Downes Same : (
The opening video to this game also had a banger soundtrack.
Nostalgia goal accomplished today
Quite a chilled tune, makes you feel relaxed until the green light and chaos of the BTCC race begins. The first two TOCA games were awesome.
Always come back to this banger - Nostalgia aswell 🥺
no idea why i just thought to listen to this but boy am i glad i did

So nostalgic, there's always been something magical about this song for me. Shame the rest of the game didn't have a soundtrack.

I remember if you explored the files on the PC version you could find a load of outtakes from Tiff Nedell doing the voiceover.
Aaaah the nostalgia. I could never win with the Vectra in championship mode but accomplished it with just about every other car
The vectra was hard use to always break from the rear and slide
love this song
The nostalgia.. it almost hurts man

you obviously haven't played the original Formula 1 game (1995 season), some proper Joe Satriani eargasms there
Midtown Madness has a nice theme IMO as well
so you don't like gran turismo menu themes?

what kind of music is this? any other example?
The songs called Retro by E-Z Rollers, jungle music. Any Jungle tune with a sax in it sounds like sex, google a few jungle forums and enjoy

The only thing I know the beat ressembles Drum and bass, but I would like it to be more inspirational and racing like this too. I loved the game.
Jazz, maybe?
Yeah its like drum and bass or you could sort of say jungle, theres plenty of similar tunes to them :)
