I have the TBR7 cousin, many of the things you don't like about your Hawk 250 are items I like. I like it being cheap(because of cheap parts etc), but also being a blank canvas for my own upgrades and tinkering.

I have a red Hawk like yours and agree on every point. Changed fork oil with Lucus 15W synthetic fork oil and it made a big difference. It took out that soft spongy feel and inproved steering, cornering and dive on braking. Paid $1041 + $200 shipping for my Hawk new in 2017. Yes stock out of the box they are barely usable. But they are transformed when a person does at least a dozen or so mods. However I am still happy I bought mine and enjoy doing the mods. Next it gets a Nibbi PE28 (PE30 is just to big for those engines and hard to tune). Then a ported head an cam swap coming after that. Then that will be it.

How many miles you have on it so far? And how is the reliability? Yeah i hear a lot of people are going to the ported head. I guess it will give more speed and torque ?

    • @multicyclist

@@Иванпонимаете-г4ш Only a little over 600 miles and reliable. But I wouldn't expect to have problems with so few miles. It has been just sitting in the garage for a few years and now I want to ride it again. I want it to be reliable so replaced/replacing known failure prone components with quality ones like: a quality x chain, replace rear sprocket rubber cushions with genuine Honda bushings, Next I want to replace the wheel bearings with known quality ones as a preventive measure.
X Moto channel has the best measured real world performance improvements from a ported head and camshaft change. It improved his 0-60 time down to the 10 second range so that would be a worthwhile thing to consider and good performance from an 230cc air cooled push rod motor. Much better than the crappy 24 second 0-60 times. When done I will expect to call it good and ride it for the long term. I have virtually all the parts but don't expect to get to it until later this year. Oh and unless you need to do more serious off road riding, dump the factory knobby tires and get something like the dual sport Shinko's for much better street handling.

I recently picked up a '23 Hawl DLX EFI. It would seem like DLS is paying attention to riders gripes similar to yours and they are addressing them. So the seat and plastics not withstanding (overall they seem fine to me for the price point), the DLX EFI model appears to be a considerable upgrade in terms of power and reliability, as well as some other cool features that really sold me on the bike. The suspension: I have to say they did an awesome job with it -not too plush but not overly harsh. The gearing and power delivery I think is spot on -not overly powerful but still a blast to ride even compared to my Road King. I highly recommend this model for those that don't want to tinker with carburetors or spend a lot on upgrades immediately out of the box. There are still plenty of things that will need wrenching on down the road as miles get put on -which I think is part of the adventure I love about these things. Good review -thanks for sharing your input!😉

Dude it's a $1,500 bike brand new you can't expect top-quality bro surprise it runs for that price Yamaha name brand bike is 7 to $8,000 for that size and 12000, a ebike mountain bike with a electric battery cost the same as that motorcycle if I was going to spend 1700 I would much rather be on that Hawk then a mountain bike

The points you are making in your video are the same experiences my fellow rider underwent to. Here in my country (Indonesia), there were Chinese bike brands that had several types of bikes on the market but are not up anymore now (some of these Chinese manufacturers were sued by the Japanese manufacturers for forging issues). These are some of the comparisons of my friend's experiences:
*Reliable bikes:* it's actually uncomfortable riding products; my friend had put himself in the middle of a mayhem financial scene. Chinese bikes need the knowledge to make it comfortable here and there - and - money to make it an acceptable product to ride.
*Plastics:* Never let your bike get parked outdoors without shade. Its body parts start becoming elastic, and as time passes by in a few weeks every body part gets so noisy because in many spots the body becomes tenuous as a result, the body parts become loose.
*Speed:* Don't expect much from Chinese-made bikes, as the materials of their parts suck and the performance doesn't stand the test. Their spare parts may be easy to find and cheap, but you have to make the ritual of changing parts as often as possible, as my friend says, "I change parts more often than I fill up gas!" 😅😂
*Seat:* The Chinese bikes' seats simply depict the performance of their bikes; uncomfortable.
*Suspension:* It's not the oil potions in the suspension tubes that are a mystery, but the springs inside the forks which need to be replaced with new ones.
There are some issues with electricity, the age of the rear suspension, and so forth. In short, Chinese bikes need more "allowance" from our wallets rather than the other brands.

What I did with my shocks. The back. I bought one rated at 1,200 lb shock. I set it at 600 lb. My weight and my son. Who rides with me. The front. I cut 3/4 copper pipe. Added to the length of the shims. Rides like a car. Floats threw the bumps.

i always caution people that see, hear or ride my Brozz. I tell them that its a mechanics/tinkerer type of bike. That it is far from stock configuration and performance. It makes a good starter, it will allow you to learn at a "safer" speed. People think they will be left stranded by a china bike too. It not let me down yet in over 3k miles. It gives one the experience of building/moding a bike, achievement.

You said nobody likes the seat well I’m OK with a seat my ass don’t hurt after sitting on it for a while what I don’t like is the angle of it where I’m constantly sliding up onto the metal every 5 to 10 minutes I have to slide back. And for the bumps found a little trick, give it a little bit of gas just as you’re hitting the bumps it help out a lot

Ayyy I'm trying lol and new shocks would be nice but pretty expensive, I could change the fork oil and make it a little better too for cheap, might just do that

Complaining about a $1000 Hawk motorcycle is like complaining about a low-cost 2.0 cylinder, good MPG, used car because it isn't a Chevrolet Corvette. People mod their cheap ass cars for the same reason they mod their cheap ass motorcycles. 1.) There isn't a big ass monthly payment hanging over their heads, and they have a little money in their pocket. 2.) Plus they don't have to ride their weak-ass pedal bike everywhere they go. 3.) It's fun to ride on the road and off, and if you dump it, bang it up, no big deal 4.) You learn to work on your shit cause it saves you money. That will be extremely useful when you buy your next "rich ass" bike/car lol 5.) Your insurance is not sky-high. 6.) You're not paying a dealer $200 an hour for shit they never correctly fix 7.) You're not crying every day cause you have a nice bike/car, but are a broke-ass bitch, and sit home watching porn. 8.) If this is your 1st bike, then "really", you don't have anything to compare it to. Go spend 6 times or more and see if it makes you happier. "doubt it" BTW It's definitely not my 1st bike. Lessons learned

bro I love this bike lol this is my only even slightly negative video on the bike because I felt like I had to be totally transparent because my other 50 videos on this thing are all overwhelmingly positive lol There is no complaining you sound like you need hug bro, go find something to be happy and learn to not be such a judgemental piece of shit on the internet

I just noticed the weird movement in the front forks yesterday on my TBR7. I went around a corner and it felt like my front wheel was loose and wobbly. I pulled in my driveway and checked everything, no loose bolts, wheel bearing was good. I started pressing down on the shocks and noticed the inconsistency that you mentioned. I don't likey, going to change the fork oil out today to see if it helps. Peace Bodie ;)

So moral of the story if you're going to buy a cheap ass bike and then spend a ton of money upgrading everything the engine to suspension the Plastics to see buy a nicer bike hahaha only reason I'm even looking at these videos because somebody wants to trade me one that they got for a pickup truck I paid five hundred bucks for the only way I end up with one of these otherwise I just buy a nice bike you could get a beautiful Yamaha ATM Honda 2500 bucks pretty much anywhere Beckley in Winter cuz most guys sell their car to ride a bike all summer and then sell the bike to find a car for the winter instead of having both but thanks for the video bro good info on a bike that I might trade this shitbox truck for

Hands so protected but knees so vulnerable..why wear those type gloves and shorts? I understand you are very new to bikes but surley others have said something about protective gear ..jeans are better than shorts but you will still get very bad road rash when you go down..there is decent street gear that is not expensive and comfortable..

    • @BodieMoto
      @BodieMoto  ปีที่แล้ว

I believe my padded jeans got delivered either the day after this video or two days later lol I have full set of gear now this video was a very long time ago. Plus this ride was like 2 mi long, but even on short rides now I gear up completely. As for why I wore those gloves while wearing those shorts because the gloves had already came in the mail and the pants hadn't came in the mail yet lol I'm not just going to go gloveless simply because I'm wearing shorts that would be really dumb... I'm even wearing a level 2 mesh jacket with back protection and chest protection
