  • Learn more about the technical approach to creating a personalized learning experience with Articulate Storyline. In this video, we create a dark and light mode, personalize the experience with the learner's name, and briefly cover how you can pull data from an LRS to dynamically show content in a Storyline project.
This session is one workshop in a series of Articulate Storyline workshops. If you'd like to attend these sessions live and vote on what we build, then you can follow me on Crowdcast: www.crowdcast....

This is such a helpful video! Why did you need two triggers on the master to change the background dark? They seemed the same to me, but I'm a beginner. Thanks!

Hi Katie! Good question, and thanks for watching the video :).
The first trigger changes the state of the rectangle whenever the timeline starts. This will only fire when someone first lands on a slide. So when you change it back and forth from dark to light mode, it would not do anything.
That's why we add the second trigger. That trigger changes the state of the rectangle whenever the isDarkModeActive variable changes. This makes the background change whenever someone changes back and forth from dark to light mode. BUT, if we only had this trigger, then the state would just reset when we get to the next slide (that's why we need the first trigger).
I hope that makes sense! And please let me know if you have any other questions.
