Hi thanks for that information as I have had my Havel do that to me as well once when it was only a few weeks old no idear why it just started working again after about 5 minutes of doing nothing
Hello from Kuwait I really want to thank you for saving me here I had this issue with my Haval Dargo The ignitor is working but the engine doesn’t start I really felt bad and planned to tow the car to the dealership tomorrow and this was very simple and I only did once and the car started like nothing even happened Thanks a lot man
This trick on the video didn't work for us but we found in the manual under "Starting the car" and "Emergency Start" a brief mention of an embossed fob shaped area at the bottom front of the armrest box. I checked with a torch and yes, it's there. Just place your fob over it and start as normal. I think I read something somewhere that this re-pairs the fob and car - but not sure. The dealer also advised not to have other smart fobs on the same keyring because this could confuse the receiver. Also, be aware of anyone travelling in the car with their own smart fob on their person or bag - my Subaru fob caused my partner's Haval H6 not to start twice. My Subaru fob also had starting hissy fits so this is not unique to Haval.
Interesting insights on 2 fobs confusing one another, never occurred to me as a possibility, but that actually might be the case... As when I've experienced this problem - I've had the test drive MG fob and my own Haval fob in my pocket.
Very interesting! I am about to buy an MG ZST and I use an electronic fob to get in and out of my office building so I need it on me each day. Not sure how I’ll navigate this now in case it interferes with my car fob 😅
Thanks a lot from Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 , shout out for the American guy as well , I purchased same car and I am going to be able to take it from show room soon once the tags are ready , your videos are so useful, I’ve been watching them since a week
Hi have a haval Jolion hybrid, won’t open by touching the handle if you have your iPhone in the same pocket as your fob, just keep them in different pockets works fine
Yep, and here are idiots alleging this is just a "Chinese car problem". Oh yeah man, the longer I do this hobby thing, the more I LOOOOVE TH-cam.... (except, differently)
In the H6 there is actually a spot in the centre armrest storage where the key should be placed, should it not be picked up by the car. Just open the arm rest, look inside towards the front, there should be a little key icon engraved in the plastic. I find that interference from radio towers or some other EMF transmitters can mess with the fobs. Happened to me with two Subarus and a Nissan I previously drove.
I haven't tried arm rest spot (and thought it's the standard reader somewhere in those middle section cup holder area). But pushing the button with the nose of the fob worked.
Yes indeed. The spot is marked with a small engraving but is not clear or obvious. If I recall correctly, there is a small mention somewhere in the manual, however, very difficult to find when caught in a no-start situation. I found that placing my remote in a trouser pocket without cellphone or keys near it resulted in no more "no starts". Furthermore, placing the remote in the back seat also sometimes attracts a non-starter. I speculate that this can be due to attenuation of the low energy signal from remote, especially in cases where there is a lot of radio wave interference around (cell masts, WiFI, Bluetooth, etc.). And of course low battery in the remote. I have yet to see a signal from H6's system telling me "low battery". My previous American SUV would tell me "low battery" so that helps a lot to prevent getting a non-starter - (no brand names) ;>) I think HAVAL should clearly indicate in the manual what to do in case of a non-start condition under "Emergencies"..
Awesome - friend has had his H6 for a week and 3 times had start issues. Just been out with the torch and yes, found the sweet spot to the front and bottom of the box. Fingers crossed that will work as pushing the start button with the fob didn't work unfortunately. Cheers
Hi from Cape Town, South Africa. This happened to me for the 6th time today. I bought my 2023 Haval H6 Super Luxury 4x4 SUV from Haval Helderberg on 24 June 2023, brand new, only 26km on ODO. After our first long trip around 1000km this fail to start issue happened for the first time. The dealership said that the FOB key battery must me depleted, and that I should try the other Key FOB, but it also did not work, so they replaced both Key FOB batteries. Since then I have 2 spare new batteries on hand. Then the same problem happened 4 more times, and I realised it is not the Key FOB battery being flat. Just like in your video, the dash lights up, but when you press start you only hear a click noise, but no response. And the vehicle will not turn off either. I then had to open the key FOB and disconnect the key battery, then only I could switch off the vehicle by pressing the start button and stepping on the brake pedal. Then I had to place the Key FOB in the center console (below the armrest) front part where it shows the small key icon, to code the Key FOB again in order for the car to recognise it. The general response from Haval at the time was that a cellphone, or Apple TAG, or Apple Car Play devices could be the cause of the problem, even pressing the buttons too many times while walking up to the vehicle. I refused to accept these suggestions as the cause of the problem, as this is my 16th vehicle since 1990, and I also have a 2022 Hyundai SantaFe, which handles Cellphones, Apple TAG's, Pressing Remote Buttons repeatedly without any problems, and insisted on them finding a real solution. After many of the same complaints from different owners, information suggested that the PEPS unit could be the cause of the problem. The PEPS unit received the FOB Key signal, and sends it to the vehicle. It would be to costly for the dealership to replace the PEPS unit, so they reprogrammed the PEPS unit instead, and remapped both Key FOBS, which according to them resolved the problem. This only worked for a short while, as it happened again today 17 November 2023. After speaking with the Service Manager, who informed me that they received more information on this issue, from the Australia team, who after more research found that the Wireless Gear Selector Knob, selecting the R, D/M, and P options, could be the cause of the problem. It seams to them that sometimes when the car 'Boots Up' starts up, it fails to receive information from the Gear Selector fast enough, and therefore cannot recognise which gear the vehicle is in, or that it is in P mode in order to Start, and therefore it fails to start. Apparently there is new software brought out to resolve this issue. Only time will tell. It however is a lengthly process, as the car needs to be plugged in to the Internet, in order for a remote branch to upload the software. I personally do not understand that if it is the Gear Selector Knob as the cause, then why would the Key Fob buttons not work at all, after this event occurred. I must say, I have 2 other friends with the same make and model and year, and they have no issues. Thank you for your detailed video, it gives me peace of mind that I am not the only one with this issue. And please note, besides this issue, I am extremely satisfied with my Haval H6, and all the tech on it. I'm sharing this for those of you experiencing the same issue, and perhaps this could guide you when dealing with your local dealership.
Thank you for the detailed write-up and sorry to hear this has been driving you nuts for this long. This is the problem with less tested and cheaper-made electronics that Chinese cars are filled with. The issue with them is - everything "else" could be great, and "bolted together" just as well as some other brand would do, but then there's some $2 little thing that they've sourced cheaply that fails (perhaps not straight away, but soon) and screws up the whole thing in an otherwise quite a nice vehicle.
Thx so much for all this info. I have a friend staying with me atm and he arrived in his week old 2023 H6 Premium but on his journey to me he had one no-start and over the past 2 days has had 2 more no-starts. The fob was in the console cup holder with his house keys attached. He went over the start process again each time, changing gears and back to park etc etc - still no start, then after another minute or so of puzzlement and pushing the start button, it started each time. I've now found the key spot in the armrest box thanks to another commentators, so will suggest he tries that, then without his other keys attached if he still has issues. Thx once again. 🤞 ❤
Hi Chris, I’m also South African and on the brink of buying the H6 HEV. What has your overall experience been like? Reading all the complaints on Hellopeter is definitely not giving me a warm fuzzy feeling
@@johnsonspark Hi, besides the Non-Start issue at the time of posting the info, I had no other issues. After a Software update, at the time of my post, all seems fine. It really feels and drives like a SUV at more than double the price. So truly value for money. I like all the gadgets, gizmos, tech, etc. so all good. Fuel economy, might be a concern, but I do not travel long distances all the time, so I can live with that. The After Sales support I receive from CapeGate and Helderberg Haval dealerships, I am happy with. I have friends with other new SUV's from the EU region, and they are not excluded from having some bugs either. So surely value form money as I only paid R570k for my new SUV, whereas my wife paid R1,1m for her Santa Fe, with less tech than mine, so happy with what I got ;-)
@@johnsonspark Don't know if you bought one, but I have experienced this start failing issues at least once a week. Even after the so called software update. I have heard it all from the dealership, assuring me that they are doing their best to remedy the problem, and that this issue seems to be unique to my vehicle only. However, I have met 3 other H6 owners, all local, with the same non start issue weekly. But we all bought from different dealers (Milnerton, Stellenbosch, Helderberg), so no one knows of each other according to the dealerships. I am starting so suspect that Haval is aware of the problem, but despite it keeps on selling the H6 units with this issue, simply hoping for the problem, or customer to go away. My main concern is that I spoke with the actual mechanic, working on the car since the beginning, and according to him it is a TCU error, and he said he stated this from the start, but there seems to be a breakdown in communication between the mechanical staff, sales staff, and management. The latest 5 March 2024, the dealership said they replaced the vehicle battery, battery sensor, and updated the software again. Only time will tell when or if this resolved the non start. I must admit, I have no more faith in the vehicle, or the brand. If you cannot trust your vehicle to start every time, it becomes a security concern, especially with auto stop start in intersection crossings, just to have it fail to start again like the person who bought her H6 from Stellenbosch branch. The dealership I bought my H6 from states that I will loose too much money should I want to trade the vehicle in on another one. As a customer who bought a vehicle out of good faith, just to find the vehicle not performing as advertised, I should not be inconvenienced with loosing 25% of my new vehicle only 6 months old, because of a issue the dealership cannot, or will not fix. I can no longer convince people to spend their hard earned money on a product or brand like this (at present). Should anything change, I will update this post.
I’m from uk and have a mg zs exclusive manual. It happened to me and was stranded in a petrol station for 30 mins as I stalled. Tried everything like u did even holding the fob to the button. I was about to call breakdown and then tried for the last time and it worked 🤷🏻. Then went to the next shop and happened again 🤷🏻. It’s scary cause if I was at a roundabout or main road I will cause a load of traffic for no reason. Now carrying both fobs until I get a replacement battery sent to me
Thanks for sharing mate and yeah sounds shocking... Did you go to the dealership after so that they try and diagnose if it's truly FOB or a faulty starter/immobiliser sensor perhaps?
Hi Demitri good to know. I believe it will be the battery. I had to replace mine at about 10 to 11 mths same issue but I think I just got lucky and was able to re start it and yes as you said it did work ok again I took no chances and replaced the battery and have not had a problem since.
Yep thanks mate I thought it's battery too, but then (once the glitch cleared itself) started thinking it was something else. Slightly unsettling but never saw anything like this happen before, and hopefully not again. But will keep an eye on it.
This is precisely what happened to me this morning - it's like it suddenly didnt recognise the key fob. I drove our other car to work and when my husband went out a half hour later it worked fine. But I'm going to try the poking the button with the fob trick next time.
Hi, I bought my H6 five weeks ago, since then I had this not starting issue 3 times. What happens is car goes to ignition on mode( Aircon, radio works) but gears won't change can't turn off ignition or lock unlock doors either. What I did was let it be for 15 to 20 minutes then can turn off the ignition. As Dimitri said in the video it works fine. Further, I called roadside assist, they changed the car battery ( I don't think any issue with that) saying these batteries not good give you Australian made new battery for free😀. They said it costs to the GWM not to the car owner. I have another solution if you can disconnect the negative battery line car will auto reset once cable fix it back. ( you need to keep the tool in the car then😃). Looks like this is a common problem for all h6 users.
Hey, just started having issues with my H6 Lux. Over 34,000 km and had to change the throttle sensor, engine light appeared and misfiring. Getting looked at now, very disappointing as it’s only a 2021 model.
Sorry to hear, what petrol did you use and any other particular usage conditions that would at least point at the origin of the problem for us? Let me know how your warranty covers the repairs, could be good to do a retro notes/video on it.
@@ValueCarsAU using unleaded as usual and just regular driving, not long distance. They indicated it would be covered under warranty, still waiting to hear an update. The engine light came up a few times, but was still driving ok till now.
Hi Dimitri I have a haval H2 1.5 turbo. When I want to start all the hazards come on and no lights on the dashboard. After about 5 minutes it lights up and then start. It registers peps system fault. How do you reset this
Mate I would have NO idea, as I've done some research on this myself, and this is what helped me kick the car back into operation... Have you tried talking to GWM service centre about it? I hope they still cover/support H2 models?
We'll try it out tomorrow because my mom goes to my auntie's house and probably left it unlocked and active while she's dozing off for the day but idk tomorrow we'll see from Mukdahan Thailand (thai-lao border)
This has happened to me. Pushing the fob on the start stop button did not stop the car. I have had to wait between 5 and 20 minutes for the car to finally pop up a message to stop it. Do you have any suggestions how I can force the stop?
There are many cars, car electronics are varied and I'm no expert. I just found this to be a universal way to deal with a lot of these "non-start" situations, but clearly it wouldn't cover it all.
Demitri, how old is the car? That battery should last at least 3 years even with frequent use. I would replace the battery with a good quality Panasonic or Maxell battery. These are by far the best.
1 year old mate. Maybe it's not battery, but just a glitch, however the way I've described it worked as a "reset", while nothing else - literally nothing else - did.
@@ValueCarsAU it is possible. The key contains a transponder chip which produces a rolling code for security. Something could have interrupted the signal so the key and the car are out of sync. This is normally a weak or low battery much more likely during cold weather. I'd be interested to hear if it happens again. Thanks for sharing as it is interesting content we don't see much of.
@@ValueCarsAUit is not the battery, it is a glitch and as others said some places this will happen. I have a work car (haval jolion) 2-3 months old, works like a clock. when I go to a farm to see a patient it 'always' doesn't work. I always have to get outof the car, return, press open/close car a few times... what was helping was opening closing the car with the fob close to the central panel. Other providers use the car all day long, no one ever complained of it. I will try that tip of pushing the start button with the key and see what happens. It is crazy that this happens only in that farm, gotta be something interfering with it. Finally, the dealer said when the battery is running off the car will inform you over and over to change the battery of the fob, cheers!
I am using halal h6 2022 model in UAE and same thing happed and happening also. I have been contacted several times to the dealers they can't find the solution for the same. `if anyone knows the proper anz please help.
Does the trick pushing the button with the nose of the key work for you? Have you tried your 2nd spare key instead of the 1st one? Does it make a difference? Obviously, if it does - the key fob is (somehow) faulty. The dealer needs to keep investigating for you mate, the car is on warranty and isn't functioning as expected! 🤷♀️
@@jithinjikku Hi, it's not the key or key battery. It is the PEPS unit in the dashboard, connecting to the gearbox and fob keys. It is a TCU error, and this is a global problem, so the dealerships cannot plead deniability or lack of knowledge. They are aware of the problem, but do not know how to fix it. Pressing the FOB key to the starter makes no difference on the H6 as no receiver in the button. At the beginning I opened the FOB key with a screwdriver, disconnected the FOB battery, reassembled the FOB key, switched the car off, and started it again, and it seemed to work, but took around 3-5 minutes. In traffic you do not have that time to avoid accidents. Lately, I noticed that when I unlock the car, get in, press start, and only hear a tick noise, and failing to start, while my foot is naturally on the break pedal (required when pressing the start button), I then realised, when it fails to start, I now simply take my foot off the break pedal, wait a few seconds, then press the start button which will then switch the car back to off position. Then when I press the start button again, it seems to work. According to the Haval mechanic, it's got to do with the milliseconds time in which the PEPS unit awaits response from the gearbox and gearbox knob, to confirm that the vehicle is in P mode / Park Mode, required for the vehicle to start. When the TCU and PEPS unit fails to receive a P / Park Mode position response in time, it fails to start. Hope this helps your process. However, I have been fighting for a solution from Haval since June 2023 (8 months now), with no success. My solution, dump the H6 as soon as you can, and get a different brand.
Oh that's a shame... Have you tried Cold Start? One of my more recent videos? Maybe some more research on youtube will suggest something else that would help you.

It happened to me yesterday! It hasn’t reset as I’ve had to do the key thing a few times now but sometimes not! Taking it to my provider.
I hope your dealer sorted out the problem!
But I'm going to try the poking the button with the fob trick next time.
oh how annoying! Glad you had another car, but hopefully next time this trick might help you
Hi, I bought my H6 five weeks ago, since then I had this not starting issue 3 times.
@@ValueCarsAU got an update today and they said I’ll need a new engine, very disappointing for a 2 year old car. Thankfully covered under warranty.
Hi, what is the lead time to get a new motor in your country? Hope it's been fixed by now.@@italia8647
Brilliant work,, it definitely reset it 👍👍👍👍
Glad to hear it helped you
My H6 Ultra hybrid, is not showing anything on meter or media screen, did tried the jumpers on etc. Would it work?
I'm sorry mate, I'm not a mechanic, only sharing my own findings and quick hacks. If you haven't sorted it yet, I'd speak with the service centre.
@ValueCarsAU. Thanks for this video. I experienced the exact same thing today. This video helped solve the issue.
Very glad to hear it! 👌
We'll try it out tomorrow because my mom goes to my auntie's house and probably left it unlocked and active while she's dozing off for the day but idk tomorrow we'll see from Mukdahan Thailand (thai-lao border)
I hope it works for you, let me know how you go
@@ValueCarsAU nope the battery probably died
Thank you for the very helpful video, got us out of a pickle with a rental car! Much appreciated from Renmark, SA ❤
Very happy to hear it helped you and thank you for commenting!
Never had that issue with any of our Kia cars with proximity fob and start button…
Good for you mate!
Thanks it works on Wuling Almaz RS 2021
Good to hear! 😉
Mrs. H6 killing batteries constantly. New battery in Monday, now it's dead Wednesday...
Very weird, is it a Hybrid? Is she driving in some very particular way?
Thanks a lot, this worked for me. Haval Jolion
Great to hear!
Have u seen the new cannon Ute 3lt turbo v6 i want one
Nope haven't yet, is it at the dealerships already?
@@ValueCarsAU been told they started arriving in Australia last week
THANKS GOOD INFORMATION ❤
Glad to hear you found it helpful
I am using halal h6 2022 model in UAE and same thing happed and happening also. I have been contacted several times to the dealers they can't find the solution for the same. `if anyone knows the proper anz please help.
Does the trick pushing the button with the nose of the key work for you? Have you tried your 2nd spare key instead of the 1st one? Does it make a difference? Obviously, if it does - the key fob is (somehow) faulty. The dealer needs to keep investigating for you mate, the car is on warranty and isn't functioning as expected! 🤷♀️
@@ValueCarsAU its still under warranty, both keys having same issues and I replaced the key batteries also. still same bro
My solution, dump the H6 as soon as you can, and get a different brand.
thanks heaps man
Glad it helped you!
I love you thank you it worked bydl3
Happy to hear it helped! 😉
Didnt help brother. ..did everything you said...on haval h6 gt
Oh that's a shame... Have you tried Cold Start? One of my more recent videos? Maybe some more research on youtube will suggest something else that would help you.
Its all good, i called for help and it was flat car battery..thanks
