I'm convinced that the noise in the cabin in completely unaffected by this "resonator box" - it serves primarily to absorb heat in the engine bay. which warms the intake air and "improves" emissions.

The only thing I would do to improve this would be to buy an assortment of those nice German style hose clamps that don’t cut the hose as you tighten them instead of the garbage ones the silicone hose comes with. Excited to do this on my car!

Removal without cutting is not too hard, theres a bracket attached to the motor mount and lower on the block, take that off and then the manifold comes out in a very certain way. The bracket also has plastic pin that inserts into a rubber grommet on the intake, just pull the bracket off.

3:07 You had me at first when I saw how easily that came out. I fought with mine for 20 minutes before I gave up and went the sawzall route. The only downside I've noticed with the silicone intake is that the intake noise is a little more noticeable, but it's not obnoxious.

I try to make my videos realistic. I fought my intake for 20-30 minutes before giving up and cutting it in half.

@@ToyotaGR86Performance Cutting it seems to be the most common route. It would have been nice to keep it in one piece 'just in case,' but I did it outside, I was tired of fighting it, it was kinda cold, and the sun was going down.

Removing the intake has to help air flow in the engine bay keeping things cooler.

    WOW...
    Nice work...
What does this, big black box, actually do? Or, why is it so big, just a thing where air goes through. Is it, with that big thing, more damping?

It allows for pressure control so the air always has predictable pressure at the throttle body. Believe it or not, in physics air is fairly sticky and wants to stick to things. It causes all kinds of weird behavior when flowing.
