Maybe that's why it took so long to get made. They cast him because he was the perfect fit, then he went bald and they were like 'oh no he doesn't fit the character anymore! what are we going to do?' then eventually they just realised he's such a massive star it doesn't matter and they can make it anyway.

I actually agree with that comment about him being a better actor before going full bald. I think he used to try harder to play actual characters. I really like his performance in Get Smart.

Agreed. I love him in Pain & Gain. He’s such a pompous lunatic. I think Hercules was like the middle period, where he was bald but had a wig. So he still has a bit of a character. This makes me worried about Black Adam, since I don’t know if stone-faced era The Rock can play a compelling anti-hero.

Same with Vin Diesel, although I think he is still good, just different now.
This is going to be especially hard considering the Rock plays the same character in every film and all of those films are also basically just the same film.
I would love it if Mason himself starts writing insane reviews on letterboxd under a pseudo-name just to catch James's eye to include in one of these videos and when the review is read Mason correctly guesses the incredibly difficult answer to James's utter shock. Now that would be a long-con.

I did not hate The Tooth Fairy. It was a goofy movie that Hulk Hogan might have done, but somehow it worked. This The Rock person is very talented. He’s going places.

San Andreas was film on the Gold coast I actually bought the blue over grey f150 from the film. So the rock sat in and drove my car 🤣🤣🤣. Sold it since but that bit of info got me a few more thousand out of the guy who bought it 🤣🤣. Was a huge rock fan and as soon as I mentioned it was in San Andreas and the rock drove it he flipped out. Bought it the next day
When will The Rock finally work with some great directors & scripts and actually challenge himself like Bautista has for example?! You'd think at some point as a performer you'd want to make a number of movies that are considered huge critical & career defining hits!
