    Very nice looking cart. The trick with the tape and wood filler is a winner. Thanks for sharing.

    Marie, I really enjoy your wood projects. I watch a number of your youtube videos on the hobby but I find yours one of my favorites. I like your projects, your upbeat narration and the professional quality of your videos and audio top shelf. When you do something wrong and need to fix it you aren’t above keeping it in the video. I don’t know if these qualities are a Canadian thing or not but keep them coming. It works well. ❤ P.s., I’ve been a wood worker for 60+ years.

    If you glue 2 wheels together with grain rotated 90% they will be less likely to crack over time.

    • @DIYMontreal
      @DIYMontreal  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thick wheels... but good tip to consider.

    • @gregorymacneil2836
      @gregorymacneil2836 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DIYMontreal My best guess is that the wheels are going to cup and then split. You really need quarter sawn material for thin wheels or plywood or composite construction as Andre suggests. At the end of the day they are replaceable and it is a great project. Very “1960’s Popular Mechanics Retro”
      My hunch is that you were not intending a race cart - otherwise - you would have gotten some 5/8 rod, cotter pins and rubber wheels at Princess Auto. I do enjoy your references to Princess Auto - very Canadian! I think everyone gets a bit excited when the Princess Auto sales flyer arrives in the mailbox.

    You’re an amazing woodworker. Awesome project. That’s a clever trick with the painters tape. Thanks for sharing.
    Did you know the first plug cutter you used, the plug is self ejecting just go deeper with the cut until it pops out.

    • @DIYMontreal
      @DIYMontreal  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! And no I didn't know. First time using a plug cutter and wasn't sure what the difference between the 2 was! Will give it a try.

    • @johnbernard6666
      @johnbernard6666 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correction to what I mentioned
      Cut the plug all the way through. Leave the plug in and start another one it will push the first one out.

    Nice build and good tip on making the plugs with the band saw. Isn't there a running debate on whether or not to use glue on projects that will live outside; glue prevents expansion, contraction ?

    I'd have made for circles and doubled the wheels size with the grain being perpendicular to make stronger wheels.

      Another comment below suggested similar. Not sure I like the look of thicker wheels, but may be a wise approach.

    Great build as usual. Sadly these kind of projects are best for personal use. These days people want to pay $50 for everything. Consider the parts and labour for this cart and it’s worth a lot. I’d like to build items I can sell regularly but there’s no way to make a profit with offshore products

    • @DIYMontreal
      @DIYMontreal  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sadly I have to agree. This would cost more to build than I could sell it for.
