I just watched your drill comparison video from earlier this year. I’m in the market for replacing some old corded ones & adding some more. What is more challenging now is that with batteries, there’s a much greater importance on how the whole tool lineup is compared with just purchasing the best corded tool for the job & money. I’m curious if you have any input on how to evaluate a line with battery compatibility in mind? I’m not sure if the batteries tend to limit the quality range or keep one limited to certain tools. For instance if most of a lineup is good for the most part but I need to go up a level or two on some, how do we consider that in our decision making process? A video about this would be great! Thank you
I’ve been binge watching since someone recommended your channel. I couldn’t think of what to do for my wife this Christmas and have been stressed about it. I showed her your cement pot sitting on your plant stand. She asked if I could make that exact setup for her for Christmas. You are a life saver!!! Keep them coming. Thank you so much
Thank you simple and informative videos that do not include annoying tool sounds or crazy music! I really appreciate that! I really love the quick and easy things you show how to make!
You are the best DIYer out there, Mary. Your craftsmanship is excellent. Your videos are succinct and articulate. Your image is professional. Hard to beat! Thanks for all the tutorials.
There’s a few things that I look forward to during the holiday season, Thanksgiving and Christmas with family and DIY Montreal’s annual gift making video.
Ohhh, I love the tongs and the bear claws especially! I want to try my hand at making the tongs, though I'll leave the bear claws for now as I don't have a bandsaw or spindle sander right now.
I have been looking forward to this video for months. I have watched each of the other ones at least 3 times. I would love to see you takes on other holiday ideas, but understand if that doesn't endup on the channel, I'll keep watching either way. I wish i had a princess auto less than 334km away!
Everything is therapeutic when you have the means to make it the least annoying. ;) Thanks, I might try making something like the piggy bank for my niece.
Very nice gift ideas. The one I would want is the tongs for removing the toast. I have burned my fingers one time to many, and sure do not want to get shocked
Thanks for sharing. The piggy(housey) bank is my favourite 😃 Hmm…, one the these days, I‘ve got to pay Princess Auto a visit; seems like they have some cool stuff🤔
When you said coin bank and showed the template, I thought that it would be cheesy. Fun fact: it was my favorite project of the three. I enjoyed the other two as well. Thank you for sharing with us.
The phone holder was very good. I've not seen one like that before and because the way you designed / made it, you can charge a phone from the bottom whilst in place [ if that's where the socket is on peoples phones ]. thks fm UK
The cube puzzle is lots of fun, except for the sanding part. I made some of those a couple of years ago. You can make it from whatever size wood you have. I made one with 3/4" cubes as a test but I thought it was a bit small so I shaved down a junk 2x4 to 1 1/4" cubes and made a couple from that.
I just bought some of the TotalBoat wood honey, and what did you lay it on to dry? The documentation says it will be tacky for about 5 days, so if I lay it on a cloth will it stick to the cloth? Do I need to keep it slightly covered to keep dust off of it? I've never used a product like this and don't see any thing in the documenation of how to store the item while the product is drying/curing. Thanks for the video and ideas.
I like this. If you would first cover it with painters tape and then glue on the pattern it will come off easier. Just a little help to another woodworker. hehe
With the first shaping cut on the bear claw salad server's, how would you recommend it be done if you don't have or have access to a bandsaw? The second cuts could be done with a coping saw easily but I'm unsure about that first one. Thanks great video
Great video! But - I am going to make the tongs for gifts - I don't need them because I just tip the toaster upside down and let the bagels fall out - my toaster never has crumbs in it. Love the Princess Auto references - makes it nice and Canadian
Great present idea 😮👍😁🤩. Two quick questions… 1 what’s the make n model of your sander? I’ve never looked at getting one, not really…. But that thing looks great!!! 2 did you do a segment on your shop table? From the Birds Eye shot it looks good!! Formica? Keep up the great work!! I’m using some of your file cabinet / Drawer combo piece for your office for a similar project. Keep at it, Ma’am 👍👍😁😁
Nice ideas. I notice, everything looks very new in your shop? Or did you just go all in. I am going to check out some more of your stuff. But just because the way you narrate, I'm subscribing.
Good news! TotalBoat does ship to Canada, you just have to call the order in (can't order on the website). Just call 1-800-497-0010 and let them know DIY Montreal referred you so you can get the 5% discount on your order.
Thanks for the great gift ideas Marie!!! They all look like fun projects to make that friends/family would really enjoy receiving. I'd like a pair of the tongs and bear claws for myself! If you put mineral spirits on a rag or paper towel and wipe over your pattern until it's damp, it will lift right off in one piece. That's easier than sanding it off and the mineral spirits won't affect any finish you want to apply or raise the grain. Happy holidays to you!!!
Hi! You inspired me to buy some total boat wood honey. When I followed your link, and tried to make a transaction, total boat told me it will not ship to Verdun, Quebec. How did you manage to get some?
Oh no, sorry to hear that! They were nice enough to send me some products to try out, but you're right, looks like they don't ship to Canada. Let me reach out and see if there's any way to get products up here.

Just found your channel this morning and love it. Would you like to come on as a guest on our maker livestream interview show Lets Talk Shop With Russ? Its on Saturdays at 8PM we can have you on when it's convenient for you.
Drop a teensy pinch of salt onto each glued surface. The salt adds "tooth" to the joint and prevents the two pieces of wood from sliding when you apply the clamps. A very small pinch is all that's necessary (three or four grains). It will not detrimentally affect the glue joint.

As a fellow Canadian It's refreshing to see videos and information about products that are available and for sale in Canada!

Nicely done... I'm going to make a couple of tongs and the soma cube in between all the routing I'm doing on your tray templates.
Happy Holidays
Awesome! Those trays make amazing gifts too :)

Indeed! Hadn't even thought of that. Will use it an my desk and wire a charger cable up through the back :)
Do I earn a ' Brownie Point' ..? lol thks @@DIYMontreal
Very good.
Great gift ideas, Marie. Of course you know what I'm going to ask. No hexagons lol?

Perhaps I've grown tired of them... Nah! That could never happen ;)
Really cool 👌
Nice

Hello, it's great! And I wonder how to sand the middle of each finger?
Thanks!
Thank you!

Nous aimons tous faire du shopping chez Princess Auto eh!

I still get Canadian pennies in my change in Metro Detroit quite often. So much so that I had no idea that they were discontinued a decade ago.
Nice way to get rid of them. LOL. Seriously, you should collect them; they are becoming a rarity.
yeah thnx
What is the thickness of your iPhone holder? 1/4" or 3/8"?
Nice ideas. I notice, everything looks very new in your shop? Or did you just go all in. I am going to check out some more of your stuff. But just because the way you narrate, I'm subscribing.
Hey, I just watched your video of when you made your sign talking about the laser you put a red nose on that on that buck take care
Try using contact shelf paper instead of gluing your patterns directly om the wood. Apply patterns on the contact paper. Peals right off.
Love the kitchen tongues. Totalboat still not shipping to Canada. Where do you get your totalboat in Montreal?
That's unfortunate. They were nice enough to send me some products to try out.
The jump cuts using the table saw make me nervous 😂
Sorry did not see the link for the total boat wood honey is there a Canadian distributor for total boat products? Thanks
www.totalboat.com/diymontreal Unfortunately doesn't seem to be available in Canada. They were nice enough to send me some products to try out.

Those tongs are beautiful. We just use chopsticks, so maybe it's time for an upgrade!

Cool. Thanks for the tip!
Like the way you always add a little pizzazz to your project with accents and the like! JimE
Thanks a bunch!

Always add a coin to a gift bank so the recipient has good fortunes in the future.
What about bosh

Great tip. Heard it before but have yet to try...
You're not supposed to use a knife to get the toast out. Forks work way better. 😊
😂
Is Total Boat Wood Honey Made From Honey?
lol thank goodness no. That would be a sticky mess!
That's a caribou on the Canadian Quarter.
So I've been told... And I'm so embarrassed!
Every Canadian sailed into the comments on our replica blue nose with maple syrup fuled rage to shout caribou!!! Other than that, great videos
Lots of on/off with the table saw, lady. How's your electric bill?
Excellent ideas. Now I have to invest in a band saw. My wife will not be happy with you….😊
Shill for total boat huh? Anyway love the projects and love watching you work
14.14 minute. You cant see much of the screen.
Whoa la la. Moose? It's a caribou. I smell a pretend Canadian. You also skipped mentioning the Bluenose. For shame!
Lol well that's embarrassing! Definitely a caribou 🙈
@@DIYMontreal we forgive you Marie! Thank you for an excellent, chonky video with great suggestions 🇨🇦
