  • #OSHPCadetClass173 graduated yesterday making history for the Patrol. In February, four members of the class were sworn in. These four class members were lateral cadets. The Patrol’s Lateral Cadet Program allows law enforcement officers who have had an Ohio Basic Police Officer certification for at least two years, to engage in a condensed academy training of approximately 12 weeks. Listen to one of those lateral cadet class members share his personal experience in the program. For more information on the Patrol’s lateral program, visit statepatrol.ohio.gov/lateral.

Are Active Duty, federally certified Military Police Officers eligible for the lateral program or do candidates need to hold a state certification?
