In this video I re-visit my two favorite, easy to use GMRS radios - the Wouxun KG-805G and the KG-905G, basically both "GMRS Radios for Beginners". I go over why these two easy to use radios are.. easy to use, I compare a few of the differences between the KG805G and the KG905G and I compare both of these easy to use GMRS radios to more complicated GMRS radios.

No such word as "irregardless"
Just say "regardless"
That doesn't even make any sense! Please do some research then come back and apologize to my viewers after you realize you are wrong.
i shit your pants
People have been saying that since 1795. Irregardless, it hasn't done any good.
No such word in your state but almost anything goes in Texas lol
@TheNotaRubicon I know your running out of ideas but have you tried going back to the beginning and doing cb radios
The 905 G was my first GMRS radio, and I will never part with it. This is an excellent radio. Randy, you are the man.
My first "GMRS Radio" was a Motorola XPR 7550
My husband loves this channel the best because of he had a DI in the Marine Corp like Mr Nota
Randy said, "Fudge Packed." 🤣😂
That is a technical term.

as bad as the word moist!😮😢
Bought a KG-805G last week for my father and he loves it. So simple and easy to use.
Keep it up, we all luv ya man.
I may look into one of these simpler units for my Granddaughter. I really like our two UV-5G Plus radios. Myself, being your favorite viewer, would like to thank you for all your reviews.
Exactly! Inexpensive comms and a great "plan B" for family outings.
That's funny, I'm also his favorite viewer!
I have committed the ultimate notarubicon sin.. I have gotten my HAM license.
I can feel a sense of superiority and... "Sadness" looming in my future.
😂🤣😂😁
Many Hams don't get early onset SHS. I've been a Ham for 56 years, and have only suffered from SHS (Sad Ham Syndrome) since 2020.
So, don't worry if you are still happy after many decades of Hamming, it's perfectly normal for many Hams.
@jimmyjohnson911 When you start talking about "spurious emissions" and "the ionosphere" you will feel the sadness start to settle in. 73 de WB4DW
I'm risking it all - going for my Extra Class HAM license! But Randy did get me into GMRS too.
Yah, I, also have paid money and taken multiple choice tests to prove that I am worthy to exercise my First Amendment rights over the electromagnetic spectrum. I feel so dirty.
A Friend got a Boofwang UV-5R HAM Radio for $3 by opening an account with an online retailer,... That wee Radio was unlocked & programmed for local HAM Repeaters (for listening & Emergency use only of course) as well as all GMRS channels, local GMRS Repeaters, FRS & MURS Channels/Frequencies (to listen only of course) as well as NOAA Channels,... What a way to get started.
Thanks for the help and responding to me from time to time.
Thank YOU!
Bought my first GMRS radios and received my license about 2 weeks ago. Thanks to your videos and your deconf**kulation, I've learned so much! 😂 Keep up the great content!!🔥 Luv your dog, more please! Lol
My "kids" now have young kids. These simple GMRS are ideal for them having "comms" when on family adventures. Cell Phones are great, but their cost and reliance on a network, makes GMRS an attractive alternative.
I watched the video, liked the video. I own the 905g because of the affiliate link below. Please get the tech license. It will shut the SH Heads (sad ham heads) up and allow us to watch you review 100’s of radios. By all means keep not caring, and keep using GMRS on your adventures. You did all the radio reviews right the first time, no need for part 2. You’re the man Randy. YOUR favorite viewer.
"oi mate, you got a loicense for them spurious emisshuns?!" No. Congress can pass a law about it if it's a problem
This guy is soooo easy for me to understand, not to be confused with someone who just learned a 14 letter word and still cannot use it in a sentence that makes sense
Yay! We are back to GMRS! Thank you Randston, and thank you, Lord Xenu!!!
Just got the Wouxun KG-UV9G PRO GMRS radio and you were not kidding when you said there was a lot going with that radio. lol!
I do like it but there is a lot to figure out that is for sure.
I am glad you are re visiting these radios as both of these are next on my list of wouxun radios to get and try out.
I am like you I like to keep it simple.
thanks for all the great and entertaining videos keep them coming!
I pacifically enjoy your ocean videos. Thanks for the chuckles.
Perfect timing on these. I am starting to hand out my Boofswang UV-9Gs to family and friends who express an interest, after the whole AT&T outage spooked them. Gonna need replacements. Gonna go bigger this time.
I hope, one day, I too can become a TH-cam superstar like you.
I chose 805G after your initial review because, I, like you, am a simple boy. Very happy with them.
My 805gs get used all the time, which I purchased way back upon your recommendation.
Thanks Randy.
Currently not in the market for another handheld radio, however.... I am 100% buying that T-shirt!
👍
Hey Randy, love your videos! I found your off roading Amazon show after it was mentioned in your livestream with Josh. I know you’ve said multiple times that nobody watches those videos, but any plans to maybe bring back and do the odd off-roading/over landing video every once in a while? I thought they were great! Anyways, thanks for all you do. Xenu be praised.
First comment from a HAM :) WY9Z - love your stuff. - I am a HAPPY HAM

@@Geo_St. Randy has been an honorary unlicensed sad ham for over 50 years. His sad ham non-callsign is NONE, not to be confused with N0NE.
I can’t help but noticing your broken Pencil is this a a metaphor for ED you should talk to your physician about getting one of the modern pharmaceutical to help with ED. I know that these have helped many people with this problem. You can even order these online from Canada if your if the shame of being unable to satisfy a girl friend or spouse embarrasses you that no wonder your such a Sad-Spam. I hope you can get on top of a treatment and move forward and fit in.
Thank you for this review and explanation. My father is 88 yrs old and I was looking for a simple radio he can use in case the power goes out; likely in Northern California. Your show is also very funny!
I just ordered my first ever radio today. I feel like i know everything about these radios now. so im going to watch all your videos just to make sure. lol ;)
Love the 905. Feels solid in the hand and more premium build than I was expecting.
Happy ham here. I secretly watch your content and enjoy it. And I can’t let anyone know, but I also have a GMRS license.
I like to listen on Ham but it's hard as beginner because people don't talk about much on Ham.
Hahahaha "hold the radio near your noise hole" man love your channel
You're a gentleman and a scholar sir 😊
I have a pair of the KG-805M MURS radios and really like it. I don't have a GMRS license (yet). But when I do, I will be getting a pair of the KG-805G. I also have a pair of the KG-UVD1P radios from 2011. The batteries from them work on the KG-805 series.
00:05 not just new radios, new material
Thumbs up for the background image
I believe you said this but to confirm if I have two of those radios out of the box they don't use "repeaters" by default so two radios would simply communicate radio to radio at however many fars they go. To benefit from the extended range the "repeaters" would have to be programmed in. Trying to figure if these would be good for a get home bag type use in an extreme scenario where there was no other communication forms available and even the repeaters may be down and I was many fars away from my children and wife, and I think they are, although they are pretty pricey for 5 GHBs. Really enjoy your videos, and your constantly changing background pictures on the upper left. Cheers.
How’s about a video of the different types of radios that can do both Ham and GMRS, locked or unlocked.
Fantastic Video Brother Randolfo. Best info on the internet.
Always educational and entertaining ✏️
Cool fact few years ago during a eclipse my wife call me on a walkie talk and could hear her from a lot farther then I use to. I am talking about a couple blocks more and behind a hill.
It was not a total eclipse.
You should try that on april 8.
Which one is easiest to manipulate the buttons if you have hot sauce on your fingertips?
use your knuckles, buttons look like they have enough space for that...
I like these videos. Please keep them coming. I have a question. Do you know if it is ok to leave these handheld radios on the charger for extended periods of time? When/if SHTF I want to be sure they are in working order. I heard that it was bad for the batteries to leave them on the charger, but all searches turned up nothing.
I like these videos. Please keep them coming. Question for you. Do you know if it is ok to leave these radios on the charging block for extended periods of time when not in use? I want to be sure they are ready to go when/if SHTF but heard that leaving them on the charger is bad for the batteries or the radios.
Love your videos.... Wish I had some of the radios you have
Gravitationally enriched, I like that
How about reviewing the baofeng uv25l and the other newer baofengs with colored screens?
To which noise hole are you referencing… I’m confused, I haven’t received any responses as of yet and I feel I am using the correct one?
I've searched your channel ans didn't see a reference to the Quansheng UV K5(8). Not a GMRS radio perse, but... any experience?
Simphole packing is always better than fudge packing.
Woohoo! I’m gravitationally enriched!
Gotta love the T-shirt lol!!
Awsome show you have . Enjoy your humor. Will this radio automatically select a repeater ? When nessary. nessary
No, no GMRS radio does that.
Have you done a video or recommend the 5rm
Hi Randy, can you recommend a swr meter with a link so I can check my GMRS radios?
This is what i use: amzn.to/3PYtfTF
@@TheNotaRubicon you’re the GREATEST thank you.
Quick question, what is this stuff about 1/4, 1/2, 5/8th, or even end fed half wave antennas? Is it worth my attention?
No.
Just make sure whatever antenna you get is designed or "tuned" for whatever frequencies you are transmitting on.
Wouxon make fantastic radios I still use my kg uvd1p. Never let me down . Great reception and tx. Probably the best Chinese manufacturers. I think you should mention when it comes to range elevation as well when in simplex . Unless your a flat earther 😂😂😂
We got two of the KG-UVD1P radios (my wife and I are both hams) back in 2011. They, and the batteries, are still going strong.
Any chance you will be able to get a handheld Randy to review?
Do you happen to have a WOUXUN KG-M70 Mobile Radio 25W Cross Band Repeater UHF/VHF to review? I can not find a review online. Thanks Randy
No.
lol, great vidios. Reminds me of instructing in the military.😂😎
What about the Baofeng UV-25? It's not even on Amazon yet, a new unit they just brought to market not too long ago.
What do you think about Rugged Radios I don't see reviews on them anywhere specifically the GMR25 mobile Radio and GMR2 handhelds
What's the diff between:
BAOFENG GMRS Radio GM-15 Pro
and
BAOFENG GMRS 9R PRO
ANOTHER Awesome post.. Thanks
PS>. not sad here brah ! Excellent !
I've been looking at the higher priced Wouxun model but the 905G sounds good. Is this radio able to operate on the railroad frequencies? Also, I enjoy your humor, creativity, and expanded vocabulary. Thanks. I'm joining.
Hey Randy, you are very versatile and intelligent. Diversify my great RF sensai. Do some reviews on MURS and CB radios. How about some antenna reviews? Learn the awesome platform of Meshtastic and teach us on these frequencies. If you teach it they will come.
Nice video. Thanks.
love the ID card
Love my 805 ❤
11:26 that is me.
I'm just going to ask it because I can see everyone wants me to. Can't I just unlock a uv5r and use it on GMRS? Who would even be able to tell that I'm not using a dedicated GMRS radio if I'm talking on GMRS frequencies?
Also, I saw the term "sad ham" used in a ham radio group on FB a couple days ago and hoooooly cow... did all the sad hams shit themselves. It was glorious.
Excellent video. Have a comment for the Al Gore Rhythm
I am digging the t-shirt. 😅
You kill me every single simple time. I wish you wouldn’t tax yourself so freely with the effort of language we all appreciate so much at little cost to hear using the effort of one finger click(s) . Nod to your fuzzy exercise method chosen! Hope to visit the institute soon, gotta go… bye. Yes, that was meeeeeeeuuuhh. €bee boo}
That shirt is the best.
Randy here is an idea to keep you busy get a petition up and running to change the name GMRS to GFRS we need it to be Gods Freedom Radio Service. Free the airway, overlords a joke with the call signs and license..love the message you preach❤
Engagement here. Do you never use a bag to carry a radio with all the assorted chargers and antennas? If so, which one. And if not, why not make a video reviewing a few bags. I’m thinking like a camera bag or along those lines. Could be like a small backpack but with elastics or Velcro straps and pockets to carry extra batteries, cables, antennas, etc. Thank you! Your favorite viewer.
Thank you!!
thumbs up before you start just for the shirt and background pic 🤣
LOL at your background picture!
Ya Gotta Love the Broken pencil pointer lol !!!!!!
You are the coolest
Obviously, the best GMRS radios. Are there any "simple" GMRS mobile radios?
Yes.. The Midland Micro Mobile models are very, VERY simple.
@@TheNotaRubicon thanks. I was hoping for a different answer, something I overlooked.
Question: has he reviewed that Quansheng radio that you can flash custom firmware yet? I've seen a couple videos and the modding capabilities are very interesting, but if Rubicon doesn't make a video about it then it's boring
No..
Too fiddly and radio-dork'ish for me and my loyal viewers .
@TheNotaRubicon hi i have been watching your videos i have one question and statements.
i own a Ham Radio Baofeng AR-152. I use it currently to listen to fire and ems communication im a NC firefighter/Emt
i was wondering the fire department has radios and we do not use a license key while transmiting comucation but we do have a license key. So in that means we are breaking the rules lol.
So far i have found some fire departments that dosent even have a license key for some of their radios in rual ereas and i know alot of fire men that dosnt have a license and they transmit comucation with their scanner radio. Some fire department are less fortunate to be able to buy a real 6000 mortrala radio.
My near by mutal aid fire department in another county uses a frequency and repeater with no license or key for their entire county dispatch system.
Oh, FML. I just noticed the picture behind at like the 2:00 mark
Uv25 review one of those I think you’ll be happy
You should review shortwave receiver radios to mix it up some
I already do. C'mon man, keep up.
@@TheNotaRubicon sorry both for not knowing that and the delay in your response, I’ll check them out keep up the great work! Your channel is awesome!
What do you and those that follow your channel feel about the FCC publicly publishing and sharing your private information associated with call signs on their website. Even if you change your info it is still available to the world.
I feel about the same as people looking up my license plate number to find out who I am 😒
Can you make some Atlantic videos, the Pacific are so far away?
Simple? What about a Uniden or Motorola GMRS K-Mart Blister Pack Special. I seen them for under $50 (as high as $80); though there are 2 radios in the pack. Maybe you should do a review on them? And on my mind, what is your OLDEST GMRS Radio and is still being used? My oldest that I use with my younger family members are Uniden GMRS680-2 from around 2009, which are Repeater friendly.
It is a simple radio, nothing more. Like you said.
Like I said in the video ... "MY favorite", not your favorite.
Fear not randy! Radioddity has the db40g coming soon!
Pupper! 🐕
Hit translate to english 💀💀

My wife wants to know what your pup’s name is. She would also like to see more of him/her in future videos.
That license !
DB40G coming next week

The broken pencil indicator had me cracking up the whole time.
I need to get me one of those non-licensed ham radio operator's cards. 😂😂😂
😂that Biden pic. Noticed after a minute in. Priceless 😂
