@@bryanisms2732 maybe? At first I thought he'd never do it just on principle. However, his talks with Josh (ham radio crash course)kinda make him look dumb/uninformed when it comes to anything radio outside of the basics of gmrs and UV5rs or similar radios. If he wants to move beyond "boofwang" and "how many fars" maybe he will? I honestly think he'd be good at it and enjoy some of the more advanced radio....So, maybe, but I doubt it.
Not only are you a master of trolling, but also a master of passive aggressiveness. Thanks for all the great entertainment and information, you're the best.
I'm still trying to figure out how to 'record' with my Sony Walkman cassette player! Now I have to pick out a handheld radio that's programmable? Damn - I'm just going to kick it with my Hall and Oates tape once I Scotch tape the break. Well done 2024 review! - all year actually!
I have both the AR-5RM and the UV-5G Plus, and the 5G Plus is the hand-it-off radio to friends and family when you use GMRS for the intended use. I hold my 5RM close to me at all times for all reasons. It's great at the airport to scan air band, it's fun to travel with for all the bands it can scan. It's easy to program if you want to even do marine band while on the coast. And heck, scan the HAM bands whenever you want too! It's the best travel radio for all the reasons. Tidradio might as well be the discount BTECH GMRS Pro, same software, same radio, but cheaper is better in my opinion for HTs as they can be replaced. I still hate the Rocky Talkie for the price. It's too expensive for the "point" of the radio. If my 5RM gets wet or lost or unusable for whatever reason, I can buy 3 more for the price of 1 Rocky Talkie. That rocky talkie gets lost because I used it "as intended", then it's a lot harder to justify. Stick the Tidradio in a plastic bag and use your phone to transmit when water rafting or something. Still more useful and more water tight than the Rocky Talkie.
Based on Randy's recommendation, I purchased the AR-5RM & recently turned it into an easily removable Car Radio,... Hand Mic, mounted with Belt Clip & I found a Mag Mount Antenna base which takes SMA Female HT Antennas :)
Just received a TD-H3 based on your earlier review. May have to spring for a Rockie instead since that would be more fitting for my intended use while adventuring.
I have the TD-H3 and I love my tiddy! My only suggestion is get a better antenna. The ones in the box aren't bad, but I got the Nagoya 771 and it gave better clarity on both TX and RX. Unlocking it allows you to communicate on both GMRS and HAM channels and you can listen to NOAA stations and the airport towers as well.
That rockie talkie walkie talkie has that cool looking, heavy duty ambilical cord, sure!... But I would rather have a pair of Tidis in my hands! 👋 I like the ones with perky antennas. Just to play with! 👌
I know you primarily do GMRS and cheap dual band radios, but I was wondering if you had any recommendations for VHF single-band radios, either here in the comments or in a video. Great channel, by the way. Informative and entertaining.
Excellent video as always, Randy! Can you actually reprogram or update firmware on Baofeng AR 5RM? I know earlier Baofengs you couldn't do anything with firmware.......?Thank you
I no longer do things rough-and-tumble enough to justify spending the money for the Rocky Talkie, but if I were still doing backcountry horseback riding, I would have one For my current needs, the UV-5RM is just right.
The Rocky Talkie is a bit out of my price range, but I own the other three shown. My complaint with the Baofengs, is that the screen is unreadable in bright sunlight. The TIDRadio H3 and H8 are much easier to see in bright sunlight. I had multiple radios with me when our club was doing some range testing, in preparation for putting up a local repeater, and the TIDRadios were easy to read, while the Baofengs were hard to read unless I could find a tree for some shade.
I have a pair of Tiddies (Tid-3s) plus a Rock Talkie 5 Watt so i guess i should thank this Rubicon fella for being consistent! Also, his hands are so delicate that I’m afraid that he might get a splinter from that pencil and go out on disability for the year…
I have the UV5Rgghh 😉 And I really like its performance. But the H3 has a lot going for it and is very popular. Don't know a whole lot about the Rocky Talkies, but I know the name really turns me off. Sounds rather silly 😏
Tid radio knows I have small girly hands because they sent me an H3 to try out... But since I live in Canada I won't be seeing the radio anytime soon because of the postal strike... 🤦
I'm surprised the BF-F8HP PRO didn't make the list. The one thing I really hope BTech does is release a firmware update that will let the SK1 or SK2 be programmable allow the user to scroll thru zones like swiping thru screens.
ahhhh, god damn beautiful video. PERHAPS? In my very own opinion, not opinionating for any one ELSES opinion. Again. TO BE CLEAR. In MY own, also not very humble opinion. No more UV-5R? 😢 When I am out and about I give a few supermarket FSR radios on my friends (MR350R Motorola) and it works surprisingly well. Note that these cost as much as the #2-3 you are presenting.
I wish there was a radio that had the grindr notification sound as the Roger beep. I would get two of them and keep hitting the talk buttons without saying anything, just to make my boyfriend jealous.
Since you're my only role-model in the whole entire GMRS world, I re-formatted my smartphone and I installed all the same apps that are on your smartphone... I think I am gonna be "happy" for a very long time! *smirk*
What’s with the View in the background? Credibility hit.
You don't know about his lifelong obsession with Joey Behar? He talks about her all the time! She "triple checks" all her facts, don't ya know!?
Did you check that information for context before you decided whether or not the credibility hit was warranted?
Its NOT in View! 😮 😂
You must be new here
That looks like a nest of crows to me.
I laugh more from these videos than most comedy movies.
I truly appreciate Randy's love of wildlife which is showcased in that wondering photograph of wildebeest in the background.
Looking at google just for fun - A group of wildebeest (collective noun) is defined as "confusion of wildebeests or an implausibility of wildebeests".

Get on a H.aM.. repeater and drop a musical carrier.

Tidradio td-h3, radio of the years ❤🎉🎉🎉
TD H3 is my favorite. Thanks for the video.
Rocky Talkie is a fantastic radio. Worth every penny! Very simple to program in repeaters.
I have the uv-5Rm and love it,is a great radio,of course I never used because im not allowed to press the ptt button 😂
