Refusing to quit is an admirable trait (however everybody who voluntarily withdraws from BUDS went in there with the mindset that they'd never quit. Nobody starts planning to quit, but they do anyways.). Also simply not quitting isn't enough. You can fail BUDS by being performance dropped (there are things like run times, swim times, O course times that you must meet). You can also be dropped if your body gives out on you (stress factures, torn ligaments, etc) so your body must be conditioned prior to getting to BUDS. Good luck to those wishing to venture down this career path.

I wasn’t a seal, just an army infantryman. Joined right as we were about to invade Iraq. I remember the day I went from a civilian to a soldier. The very second. Probably half way through basic, exhausted, injured, hungry, tired, feeling down. As we were getting smoked, I felt I couldn’t take anymore. And I turned all those feelings into aggression. I used that aggression to lush through the pain. At that moment, something changed in me. And to this day I have never lost that feeling. No matter what I go through in life, I can push through.

It’s more of a dynamic teamwork. You see someone fallen behind the group, you fall back and help them out and push forward. It’s not always a “one man army”.
You never do anything alone in the military. There's always a team or buddy system. There's a reason why there's so much comradeship in the military, because they're all in it together.
One of the main points in bud training class 234 was about teamwork. Especially through hell week, they wanted to see the guys work together or not fail the team. Better to injure yourself than a teammate

There will times when you want to quit and you think about doing it. Everyone does at some point, and if they tell you otherwise they are lying. The Real Trick to the game is pushing past the urge to give into your emotions. I promise you all, for those that want to do this or any other type of military service: the pain will subside, the body can take anything.

Thats true. military Training is only about youre mind. No Matter how weak you are, your Body can take anything. Youre mind is that what decides. I remember i was thinking i will quit i will quit. I was crying on the phone calling my mom. I cant handle This i want to quit. And she told me if you want to quit you can to that but i believe in you. Its only in youre brain that you Think you cant do it anymore. They say when you Think that you cant anymore then youre just at 30% and you still have the rest energy to go further and keep walking. If you quit you will return as someone Who gave up. And This will continue in youre live. Everytime a hard point reaches youre mind you will want to quit. But if you dont it will be the best Feeling in youre live. You will see that youre better than This. You will know what you are capable of doing.
@@MrMrbobo46 As someone who has minor asthma and wants to join the forces (Canada), it's going to be fun running and passing out. If they accept me, then I will not be the one to go home. They'll have to discharge me before I quit. That being said, I don't want to go into heavy physically demanding jobs to grind my lungs out. It's training for a reason, they want to see who quits and who will keep pushing forward. TL:DR I am going to experience something similar to this myself soon. I have to keep my head up.
In Pool Comp., stay calm and once that instructor stops yankin n beatin you up make sure to inhale as much water as possible. I just wanna say, I am so grateful for these men. The sacrifices these guys make every day to keep all of us safe, most of us will never be able to understand. I’m just an enlisted air force maintainer, but it’s an honor to defend the same flag that these guys do. I’m currently working towards my commission and hoping to be a pilot one day. A lot of these clips were used in the intro of the movie Lone Survivor. What a movie. Gives me chills watching the whole training phase of a recruit. The way they shape and build these soilders mentalities are crazy. Salute to these brave young men. My respect.
When you're willing to die for it, you'll break through to a level of strength you never knew you had. I went on a 50 mile hike through no mans land, i thought id die out there, but i never quit, because i never had an option to quit. It was either i die, or i succeed. You have to go through SEAL training with a mentality that you are already dead, or going to die; when you value your life, thats when doubt kicks in and you quitting starts nagging on your mind.
You do not fear death. You think this makes you strong. It makes you weak. How can you move faster then possible, fight longer then possible, without the most powerful impulse of the spirit? The fear of death.

I’ve watched the Discovery series a couple of times on BUDS CLASS 234. LIVELY was one badass dude. He went through BUDS with an incredibly humorous and positive attitude. You’d think he was trying out for a baseball team. He even had the balls to screw with the instructors.
It brings me to tears knowing that my emotional and moral immaturity in the past will keep me from ever getting to at least get a taste of their process in gaining knowledge of self worth and personal growth that is offered at BUDs. But on the flipside, watching these videos always reminds me to do everything I can to be dependable and to make the lives of those around me better every day. No matter how small you or I think we are, our actions touch the lives of hundreda, if not thousands of people each day. Always be the guy that will still get after it, even when those who are close to you want to give up.

@@shadow-qy4zi The military is very particular about people who do exhibit or have exhibited some of the more severe mental illnesses and with bipolar disorder being one of them, although I'm stable and not even medicated anymore, me having had a manic episode in my medical records and a history of masochistic behavior during times of mental instability and even an attempted suicide, it would take an act of God to get me in. I don't think I'm bipolar. I forwent medication without even consulting my psychiatrist and quit seeing her long ago and I've been straight as an arrow. I've been running ultramarathons, recently I was made a crew lead at a job that I've only had since January in an industry I've had no previous experience over people who've been with the company for years and I've managed to keep my nose on the grindstone and stay disciplined for a long time so I think I'm perfectly fine. I can trace all of my mental instability problems back to one experience with lsd that wasn't pretty uncomfortable and nerve racking compared to my previous ones and it set me down a bad path for a while.
@@ethanlambert5256 I guess in a way. You have to play by their rules to get in with them and unfortunately, I haven't exactly done that. Refer to my previous reply for an explanation. I've been looking into some other pretty hardcore industries to fill the void. I'm really thinking I want to find work in the oil industry. I know compromise is pathetic in a lot of instances but beating a dead horse isn't exactly wise either. I just want to live hard and keep going to sleep satisfied with the day's work at night.

Yo my brother is in army with a Ranger contract..he is at Fort Benning obviosly and he had to do 2 14 day quarantines because of covid cases there and he actually got it partially and has recovered a bit and doesnt have it anymore but has effected his run times and his physicality. He is in about his 6th week right now of basic but then he'll go to pre RASP and then RASP

Haven't slept for 36 hours rn, i needed this to motivate me to do my workout anyway. Insomnia f*ing s*cks, i had it all week, don't know why, I feel like it's god testing my inner strength, or the devil trying to make me lose balance.
"Suck it up" That summed it up perfectly one of the first lessons when sports goes from just fun into competitive, it got me thrugh alot of things in life.
Great video and point. This is true for all endeavors. When my sons are unable to fix something here at the house (that I have shown them how to do) and I come over and make it work, I tell them, "The only difference is that I can not fail. If I fail, then I have to live with it broken or pay someone else to fix it. Once you think with that mentality, A LOT of things get fixed."

Looking at the military and seeing how crazy the training is for them, makes me realize that high school sports and college festivities, are literally a blip in time. Whether it’s the military, or it’s working an 8-5 job, that matters more than stressing about how well one has done in athletics in high school or college. That’s the shit that matters and what sports prepare you for. Sports isn’t life, but the way you approach life after your youth is what matters
I didn't play sports in high school but out of a platoon of 89 recruits I was in the top 5 physically, and even got meritoriously promoted in Basic Training. Lower your horns and go after every thing in front of you like a raging bull and you would be surprised at what your body and mind are capable of. Know this, they won't let you die in Basic Training, and any injury you get will get attended to and heal quickly. You'll make a few friends in Basic Training, but they key point is to get so tough and capable of doing anything that you will get home to your family relatively sane. I just turned 54 I am still mowing the youngsters down in my chosen sport.

@@MrMrbobo46 As someone who has minor asthma and wants to join the forces (Canada), it's going to be fun running and passing out. If they accept me, then I will not be the one to go home. They'll have to discharge me before I quit. That being said, I don't want to go into heavy physically demanding jobs to grind my lungs out. It's training for a reason, they want to see who quits and who will keep pushing forward.

I’m just an enlisted air force maintainer, but it’s an honor to defend the same flag that these guys do. I’m currently working towards my commission and hoping to be a pilot one day. A lot of these clips were used in the intro of the movie Lone Survivor. What a movie. Gives me chills watching the whole training phase of a recruit. The way they shape and build these soilders mentalities are crazy. Salute to these brave young men. My respect.

The music has gotten me through some of the hardest times in my life
When you're willing to die for it, you'll break through to a level of strength you never knew you had. I went on a 50 mile hike through no mans land, i thought id die out there, but i never quit, because i never had an option to quit. It was either i die, or i succeed. You have to go through SEAL training with a mentality that you are already dead, or going to die; when you value your life, thats when doubt kicks in and you quitting starts nagging on your mind.
By no mans land do you mean countryside or between two war fronts
You do not fear death. You think this makes you strong. It makes you weak. How can you move faster then possible, fight longer then possible, without the most powerful impulse of the spirit? The fear of death.

I’ve watched the Discovery series a couple of times on BUDS CLASS 234. LIVELY was one badass dude. He went through BUDS with an incredibly humorous and positive attitude. You’d think he was trying out for a baseball team. He even had the balls to screw with the instructors.

It brings me to tears knowing that my emotional and moral immaturity in the past will keep me from ever getting to at least get a taste of their process in gaining knowledge of self worth and personal growth that is offered at BUDs. But on the flipside, watching these videos always reminds me to do everything I can to be dependable and to make the lives of those around me better every day.
No matter how small you or I think we are, our actions touch the lives of hundreda, if not thousands of people each day. Always be the guy that will still get after it, even when those who are close to you want to give up.

@@shadow-qy4zi The military is very particular about people who do exhibit or have exhibited some of the more severe mental illnesses and with bipolar disorder being one of them, although I'm stable and not even medicated anymore, me having had a manic episode in my medical records and a history of masochistic behavior during times of mental instability and even an attempted suicide, it would take an act of God to get me in.
I don't think I'm bipolar. I forwent medication without even consulting my psychiatrist and quit seeing her long ago and I've been straight as an arrow. I've been running ultramarathons, recently I was made a crew lead at a job that I've only had since January in an industry I've had no previous experience over people who've been with the company for years and I've managed to keep my nose on the grindstone and stay disciplined for a long time so I think I'm perfectly fine.
I can trace all of my mental instability problems back to one experience with lsd that wasn't pretty uncomfortable and nerve racking compared to my previous ones and it set me down a bad path for a while.
@@ethanlambert5256 I guess in a way. You have to play by their rules to get in with them and unfortunately, I haven't exactly done that. Refer to my previous reply for an explanation.
I've been looking into some other pretty hardcore industries to fill the void. I'm really thinking I want to find work in the oil industry. I know compromise is pathetic in a lot of instances but beating a dead horse isn't exactly wise either. I just want to live hard and keep going to sleep satisfied with the day's work at night.

Yo my brother is in army with a Ranger contract..he is at Fort Benning obviosly and he had to do 2 14 day quarantines because of covid cases there and he actually got it partially and has recovered a bit and doesnt have it anymore but has effected his run times and his physicality. He is in about his 6th week right now of basic but then he'll go to pre RASP and then RASP

"Suck it up" That summed it up perfectly one of the first lessons when sports goes from just fun into competitive, it got me thrugh alot of things in life.
Great video and point. This is true for all endeavors. When my sons are unable to fix something here at the house (that I have shown them how to do) and I come over and make it work, I tell them, "The only difference is that I can not fail. If I fail, then I have to live with it broken or pay someone else to fix it. Once you think with that mentality, A LOT of things get fixed."

Looking at the military and seeing how crazy the training is for them, makes me realize that high school sports and college festivities, are literally a blip in time. Whether it’s the military, or it’s working an 8-5 job, that matters more than stressing about how well one has done in athletics in high school or college. That’s the shit that matters and what sports prepare you for. Sports isn’t life, but the way you approach life after your youth is what matters
I didn't play sports in high school but out of a platoon of 89 recruits I was in the top 5 physically, and even got meritoriously promoted in Basic Training. Lower your horns and go after every thing in front of you like a raging bull and you would be surprised at what your body and mind are capable of. Know this, they won't let you die in Basic Training, and any injury you get will get attended to and heal quickly. You'll make a few friends in Basic Training, but they key point is to get so tough and capable of doing anything that you will get home to your family relatively sane. I just turned 54 I am still mowing the youngsters down in my chosen sport.
