not many players or coaches for that matter understand the huge value of this video... This coach is top level and it is the only video i found that explains the proper defensive footwork.

Could the cone drills around the 30:00 minute mark also be used for defending passes in a zone defense?

Some good stuff. I dont buy into the "move with the shoulder move" idea. I see some devestating backdoor cuts happen against that approach if i was coaching against that.

Agree there, though it's a good idea to perhaps slightly back away from your defender once the shoulders have moved.

Absolutely wrong on the box out. "Front turn"?!?!? I cannot begin to explain all that is wrong with a front turn. By 48:39 the only thing I heard Torsten say that Is worth anything is catch the ball at its highest point but he did not show what that means to the players or if he had a firm grasp of what "Catch the pall at the highest point" entails. This type of coach is killing basketball by taking the skill and fundamentals out of the game and forcing the game and coaches to seek out athletic players that dominate physically with strength quickness, speed and height.

I know but it is wrong: Think about it; if you are facing a man and let’s say he goes to your left, his right. So, you stay fronted but you have to bring your right shoulder around to get him on your back to him to box out... Right? That motion of you fronting him and rotating with him is literally pushing him to the basket. Not only are you helping him it is technically a foul that can be called any time.
By reverse pivoting you are catching your man on your back, he is running into you. If you practice, you can tell by feel if he is changing directions and by him changing directions, if you have your elbows up you will catch him anyway.
When setting a pick or a screen a reverse pivot puts the guy on your back, taking him out of the play and putting him out of position.
You have to stay low and keep your elbows up but it will make everything about your game better. Or you can keep pushing your opponent to the basket.
Coaches are recruiters now and many parts of the game have been lost because everyone thinks it is about the three pointer and having more athletic players. Very sad.
