Stephen Thompson AKA Wonder Boy is a Karate MMA legend who in the UFC, at the highest levels of combat even almost won a championship belt. Watch him perfectly light spar MMA legend Saenchai.
Lots of narcissistic weak men with fragile ego's, looking for uncalled attention and trying to prove something to other self-centered people these days... This behavior ruins everything.
Are you talking about all the world champions like Strickland, Mike Tyson, Floyd Mayweather? Or guys wearing pink shirts that are scared to get punched in the face and always end up getting knocked out?
It all depends if you are sport karate only or apply it to actual uses It's even more deadly in a street fight since you kill yout enemy his vision and his future generations
Great video to show people who are interested in Muay Thai or kb that you don't have to worry about brain or other injuries. Some people just want to do fitness and have fun and that's ok!
I saw that video of this young guy trying to go hard af against seanchai, like bro what are you doing? Proving your dominance? This is a fng spar session not a match. Then seanchai teeps the hell outta that guy to the floor. Humbles him. 👍
Indeed, perfect demonstration of decent light sparing from two of the most charismatic strikers out there. There are tiers of wholesomeness with this clip. To me, it also demonstrates the perfect mindset for good productive partnership in training, for example. They should record a full round with commentary from both of them, I really appreciate the way they teach and describe things with their own bodies as well as words!
Everything you said is the best thing to do and remember in sparring. It’s not about going all out and hurting the other guy all though I think controlled hard sparring can be beneficial at times. It’s about slow and controlled focusing on technique and timing cause like you said if you can hit them slow you can hit them fast I love that.
thai's training/fighting schedule is so crazy that they naturally go very light sparring. they train 2x/day, 6-7 days/week and fight MINIMUM once a month, usually more. they live in a perpetual fight camp so they are very careful to not injure/overwork themselves sparring.
Honestly I thank you for this video. As bad as it may sound I didn't know what light sparring was, and at various times have came off unintentionally "disrespectful" while sparring. (I apologize) I just didn't understand why I should spar slowly if I'm not fighting slow.
Perfect example of what sparring should look like. I went to a gym that had rogue sparring ( sparring classes without the teacher's consent) because they just wanted to beat the shit out of each other. You just had a bunch of ego maniacs trying to hurt each other. I come into training not to hurt someone, but to improve my skills and I was being matched with actual fighters who were just trying to 1 up everything I did. The first sparring session I went to, they put me in a "mock" fight against a person who was training for a ring. This guy went all out on me with full force head kicks at which point I walked away. The other training sessions were not much better and got a few injuries here and there and never walked in feeling safe. At no point did I consent for the people to go this hard and I don't want to match them because I'm not here to hurt them. And then when it comes down to the actual training with the master, the part where it's about struggle and not showing off, these people are nowhere to be seen. It seems people nowadays have no respect for others since they have never been humbled and just want to show off to project. They don't want to put in the work either. All the gyms around me are the same, the people are just way too entitled. I only train myself now or in very good classes.
@@Maru7en It is in 99.99% of Western gyms. People are too entitled in most gyms, only care about showing how big their dick is to the other person and beating the shit out of them.
Both of those guys are at the top level of fighting, respectively, and each of their disciplines. Thompson is probably the greatest karate striker of our time, and saenchie, a known Muaythai master.
When you have superb control, you’re able to go nearly full speed with minimal contact. This is how you can spar everyday, make it realistic without taking damage.
Im sharing this worldwide. Some people really dont know what technical/light sparring is.
Lots of narcissistic weak men with fragile ego's, looking for uncalled attention and trying to prove something to other self-centered people these days... This behavior ruins everything.
A lot of ppl don't!
It’s a mysterious thing to figure out I know. 😖
People in the gym who wish they were pro love beating up low level opponents ive been battered multiple times 😂 you do learn from it though
Are you talking about all the world champions like Strickland, Mike Tyson, Floyd Mayweather? Or guys wearing pink shirts that are scared to get punched in the face and always end up getting knocked out?
2 of the nicest guys in combat sports.
Love ‚em both
They give you a kiss and say sorry after knocking you out with style
Bro but try and spar heavy with them and they'll take you to town.
Lerdzilla is cool too
But saenchai actually won
The battle of kindness 🤣
And yet these two are bad mfrs
I'm nicer! No I'm nicer, I'm so fking nice, sounds like an argument between Bobby lee and theo von lmao
In an alternate universe where they fight each other… imagine the press conference ‘trash talk’😂
Both Wonderboy and Saenchai are the nicest people I have met.
what the f happened to you bro?? didnt u fight tony ferg a while ago
@@vanillaice1335wrong Kevin Lee 😂. This Kevin Lee is part of the icy Mike sensei Seth universe
@@vanillaice1335 yes seeing a lot of holes in his game
Have a happy retirement bro, sad to see you got choked out like that
But where do you fit into all of this?
Oh look, professionals without ego. 👍🏼
Caught him with a side kick and a side kiss.
😂😂😂

Dope quote
Karate doesn’t work
Wonder boy
“ hold my beer “
Don’t forget GSP. That was his starting art😉
@@traceurs619wonderboy is the way better representative of karate tho
Which idiot said Karate doesn’t work? Lmao.
It all depends if you are sport karate only or apply it to actual uses
It's even more deadly in a street fight since you kill yout enemy his vision and his future generations
The best moves from karate blended with everything else yes honestly karate is great for mma it’s just the defense that doesn’t work at all
those infinite nut kick at the end is super deadly
Like a Saitama finishing move 😂
Finally, an actual "light spar". Seen so many videos of people tryna do their best against Saenchai lol
It's really nice to see what an appropriate level of sparring can be! So much ego in the fight world usually makes sparring less fun
This is the physical representation of "kill em with kindness".
It needs a kiss on both cheeks after a knock out to be perfect
Great video to show people who are interested in Muay Thai or kb that you don't have to worry about brain or other injuries. Some people just want to do fitness and have fun and that's ok!
Saenchai is an absolute legend, he goes light until it’s time to go hard. And if he chooses to go hard, pray he shows mercy.
I saw that video of this young guy trying to go hard af against seanchai, like bro what are you doing? Proving your dominance? This is a fng spar session not a match. Then seanchai teeps the hell outta that guy to the floor. Humbles him. 👍
Takes skill to spar like this for sure. Some of the strikes are fast but then slow down right before contact…
This is my fav kind of spar I get to have fun and I don't go home with a headache
Crazy how wonderbo is from my home town and he's training with the legend I grew up watching
Coulda been you? Still could be, maybe?
I love how this light sparring just looks like fun playing around.
From a man who has never sparred a day in his life. Thanks bud
The Nicest killers challenging for the NMF Belt!
lol
i just love stephen thompson. Such an amazing and entertaining fighter. Humble , respectful in and out of the ring and a great sport
Never heard you laugh after all these years 😂

They are so nice they are actually sparring who can miss contacting the other the most times. True gold medal talent type kindness.
Professionalism

I love how you broke from your usual solemn tone with that giggle.
Not only he is an awesome fighter but also a very down earth human being.
If you had to combine two of the purest martial artists in the world within combat sports it would probably be these two!
Sometimes, the only word IS pretty.
Kicks him straight to the nuts - "beautiful sidekick..and he acknowledged it - something you see on high level"
The two nicest guys on the planet
This is why point sparring has a place in training. Wonderboy even came from that background.
Its always the professional, dangerous, and top fighters who actually know how to light spar..
Honestly this is amazing watching 2 men with deadly training who act like gentlemen. More people need to see this and learn from it.
I can’t love this enough!

More beautiful to watch technical sparring than 2 guys trying to go all out and hurt each other
this is light for even light sparring
this brings a smile to the face
I wanna heart react 😌 that's how your can spar with meaning, training in reaction, and respecting your opponent 🙏🏿 pure education 😤

Saenchai is visiting Wonderboys gym so it’s respect on both ends.
Saenchai is playful even when he knocks people out.
"Oh, you really do go light! Let's have fun!"
Sparing so wholesome man's broke character
Acknowledging when you get caught is the main fofference between good and bad sparring partners.
Honestly I thank you for this video. As bad as it may sound I didn't know what light sparring was, and at various times have came off unintentionally "disrespectful" while sparring. (I apologize) I just didn't understand why I should spar slowly if I'm not fighting slow.
I have a feeling the next time you spar, your partners are going to be very surprised! You're never too old to learn something new.
You've seen the error in your ways and you are going to correct em. That is personal growth and NOTHING to apologize for.
It takes control and humility to hit soft when you know how to hit hard, true warriors
You MUST spar lightly to master technique & balance before you turn up the intensity. It makes a good warm up too
Excellent, controlled light sparing .. used for timing and reading opponents .. I wish everyone in the gym understood this.
Love Wonderboy, great dude
Ive genuinely never seen wonderboy get caught with kicks this much. I know its light sparring but it always reminds me why Saenchai is the 🐐
Man I wish i could save this video!
Light Indeed. No ego.
I think Stevens respect for Sanchei, he's always been an absolute gem Wonderboy
This is VERY light sparring

Two guys that are AWESOMELY RESPECTFUL!. Kumbaya should've been the background music😂
Man, you know those two turned it up to 6 or 7 after class was gone
Thx u for the content bro imma hop over to their TH-cam channels 😊
2 of my favorite fighters 🔥⚡

The lesson we all learned from this
Remember to always go slow before u go fast
He's always playful if you know how to play .
Amazing. This is how it's done, without developing cte over your ego
2 kind men with the savagery of monsters 👹
Seanchai have been doing this his whole us trip
Beautiful
Sanechai is just Fluid with his motions...
notice the other students PAYING ATTENTION
Great share. Too many people in gyms acting like Charlie Zelenov.
Complete lack of ego and show of respect between 2 titans of the striking arts. Incredible.
Caught so many of Thompson’s low kicks
I think he acknowledge the sidekick since it hit the nuts
This is so great!!!
This is how you spar!
I know it’s just playful sparring, but you can see how surgical saenchai is here. How easily he’s finding openings.
That’s beautiful.
It was low which was why Stephen acknowledged it 😅
the best of the best of the best
with honors
This is how my training partner and I train. We've both learned insanely high level techniques from sparring each other playfully
This is what it looks like when both fighters aren’t trying to prove something (or train for camp)
we want ball kicking competition
They need a drink line called WonderChai
The NMF being the NMF
We used to call this type of sparring “walk throughs.” Just getting moving, finding angles and just toughing with the technique. Great way to warm up.
When you have superb control, you’re able to go nearly full speed with minimal contact. This is how you can spar everyday, make it realistic without taking damage.
Wonderboy looking like Eddie Guerrero with those pants on
Nothing but technique and respect no ego whats so ever
Cool light sparring!!!
Love from Thailand🙏🙏🙏💕💕💕
Two professionals, that have nothing to prove.
I would love just a few minutes with the Muay Thai master.
Crazy Respect

I think the side kick get his jewels 😂

Correction, side kick to the NUTS 😂
