I didn't realize they had changed their name - happened back in 2018. I always knew them as the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. The choir was founded in 1847... been around a while ;-) They are an amazingly powerful group. 360 singers. Thank you for the heartfelt reaction 🥰
The reason for it is that the prophet today asked us to distance from the name and encouraged us to take upon the name of Christ, but also because when you search up Mormon you might get some crap and stuff about the flds which is a different group and they still practice polygamy and there leader is in prison for child abuse.
They changed the name of the choir because We DO NOT worship the ancient Mormon prophet, named Mormon, BUT WE DO WORSHIP Jesus Christ, our Saviour who is the Saviour of the whole world --even for those that do not believe in him. Many churches do NOT believe in any revelation to man since Christ died on the cross, not even in modern revelation, BUT because Jesus Christ was and is our own Resurrected and living God, and a very live person), he can, as he promised, to NOT LEAVE men on Earth helpless but would provide guidance in the Last Days, and what brought the world out of the Dark Ages was when he sent Spirits down from heaven to be born with God-given talents to inspire men through beautiful sacred music about Christ's life (like Handel's Messiah ; Haydn ; and Bach and many other similar composers) AFTER inspired men like the priest Martin Luther who went against the Catholic Church and translated the Bible from Latin to German and English, feeling and that the common man should be able to read for themselves the truths from the scriptures, and went about to teach men and women about Jesus Christ and his Creation of the Universe and the World we live upon, the Creation of Man (his greatest continual creation), and the teachings of his Prophets of Old, and also the current Prophet and Twelve Apostles on the Earth today, now ! After people in Europe had been able to study the Bible and learn the above things, God and Christ knew that it was time to let those Europeans come to this land of America that the Almighty had preserved for the Restoration of His Gospel that he promised would happen in the Last Days, who Joseph of Egypt prophesied would be by a man named Joseph, named after him, and whose father also would be so named Joseph, and he, Joseph Smith Jr. was a descendent of the first believers of the Bible in Europe, and of the Europeans settlers who came to America for the grand freedom to worship the great Almighty God, Jesus Christ without tyrranical persecution. Because of this, having been taught from the Bible about God the Father, and Jesus Christ, when he reached the age of a young teen and he inquired of God through prayer if the teachings of the Bible were true, the God Almighties both appeared to him, Joseph Smith Jr., introducing themselves to he whom they had called in the Pre-Existance to be 'the First Prophet' of this 'The Dispensation of the Fullness of Times', and to translate the Gold Plates into what is called by Christ, the 'Book of the Gentiles', or the 'Book of Mormon', which he said in the New Testament would also testify of him -- and is 'A Companion Book' to what Christ called the 'Book of the Jews', or which we know now as, and is the Bible (both the Old and New Testaments combined into one book).
Correcting my mistake that the Prophet Mormon, was an ancient Nephite Prophet of God, who the Book of Mormon was named after (but should maybe have been named after his son, Moroni, who had buried the Gold Plates in the hill where he, Moroni, as the last living Nephite Prophet on this American Continent, was then allowed by Christ Jesus to show Joseph Smith Jr., where, then, as a Resurrected Being, and the Angel Moroni, showed him where he had buried the Gold Plates that he had kept safe, and written his final words upon, before he had buried them back then in his day in the Hill named Cumorah, for a future time, as commanded by God and Christ to do for their Future purposes, and which he willingly obeyed).

I was there. My Dad sang with this Choir for 17 years, I have had the honor of being at several of these concerts and events over my lifetime. The recordings are amazing, but in-person is life altering.
@@andrewjex5740 Same, my parent sang in the choir as well. I was even in the bells on temple square for a time. In person is the best way to experience this music.
Just for historical context - leaders of the LDS Church would often remind the members that angels attend the Tabernacle Choir to bring joy and peace to all of God's children. And... in 1986 the Readers Digest suggested that the Tabernacle Choir is the greatest on earth: ",,,because it is the Lord's choir." I report this humbly. - 🐻🎸🎼
Look up Millennial Choirs and Orchestras. I think I like them a tad better because they also include children. Their concerts are the most powerful I’ve ever been to.
I’m not religious, however a lover of Music and am in awe of what this choir does. Their MD is a genius. He brings out the very best of these voices. Have never heard a choir do what the Mormon Choir achieve. I am constantly fighting emotions when they sing….. ❤
This has to be what Heaven sounds like. Just stunningly beautiful. Thanks for the emotional and genuine reaction. Have you thought of joining a choir again? It will all come back to you!
This performance has my mother-in-law in it. She joined the choir the same year our daughter was diagnosed with brain cancer. My daughter passed away about 8 years ago. She says every time she sang with the choir she felt Rachel sing with her. My daughter, despite having gone mostly deaf from the chemo, loved music so much her entire almost 4 year life. We know she's singing praises to God in heaven now. Oh, and my dear cousin is in the orchestra as well.
Love The Tabernacle Choir! The harmonies started getting to me right off the bat. YUMMY! Watching and listening to them always takes me back to my own school, community, and church choir days. I miss them so much! In high school, I was always in the honor choirs and bands, so I got to travel to either Anchorage or Fairbanks--whichever larger town was hosting the big event (which was combined for the honor choirs and bands) for that year. Going to those and being in both parts was always REALLY fun, but, wow!!! Hard to keep up with the full week's worth of music on both fronts. I would go back and do it again, ANY DAY! Our Valdez, Alaska school was quite tiny, at the time (not as much these days, from what I've seen in my brother's photos). My graduating class was 13 people (I was the Valedictorian). My brother Gary's (the photographer) class was 36 people...the largest class in our entire system at the time.We were both in all of the choirs and pep bands, and all of that stuff. In later years, my other (younger-younger) brother, and my sister were both in the bands and choirs, as well. It's just what our family has always done! As a community, we always did either The Messiah or just a program of special Christmas songs that most everyone knew. We also had people from different parts of the world, who brought their Christmas songs with them, so sometimes we got to learn some of those, as well. I'm right with you, about the music. I can NEVER get enough of it, whether I'm singing, playing, or just listening. Music just slides through me. Thank you VERY much, Carlos. That was a SUPER GREAT reaction. 😀
The Tabernacle Choir has auditions if you are willing to go to Salt Lake City and live in Utah. Ask for Michael Leavitt who is the president of the Choir and Orchestra on Temple Square. You will also need to take the missionary discussions and join the Church to qualify. Also, if you want to experience this music live, The choir and orchestra offers a free concert to the public during each Christmas holiday within the conference center near the Temple Square in Salt Lake City
For most choir directors, you can choose to be small, which allows you to be delicate and light- dancing from note to note. Or, you can be big, which allows power and "that wall of sound". Mack Wilberg and the Tabernacle Choir chose both. Getting 300 choir members to be as light and responsive as a choir of 25 borders on the impossible...yet here it is. That is one of the reasons that I believe Wilberg is one of the premier choir directors in the world right now.
This was my Dads favorite Christmas Carol and he had the most beautiful baritone voice. He left to live in heaven 6 years ago but when i hear this song, sometimes I swear I still hear him singing it. Sometimes it's like he's singing right into my ear. ❤❤❤❤
I was a singer in this group for10 years, and felt the power of being in the middle of a group that creates this level of beauty. I encourage you to go to Salt Lake and be there for an open rehersal on any thursday night or a performance on every sunday morning, also open to the public. Just Do It.
Oh boy. If this comes out all garbled, it's because I can barely see through the tears. This one hit the emotions very hard. It was stunningly beautiful. Thank you.
The purpose of music is testify to each person's soul who they are in the eyes of God. Who God is in the lives of His children on earth. You feel that because you are His beloved child. You should do whatever you can to get to Salt Lake City and stand in the conference center to hear this angelic choir. Its a moment if a live time. Stay there as long as you can. They sing the truth.
My Mom was a trained soprano. She used to sing "O Holy Night" for our ward in Toronto every year. I have also performed it several times both as a solo and with choirs. It is the essence of the true meaning of Christmas to me.
It makes my heart glad to know your heart was softened listening to my church's choir. Blessings to all this Christmas season. May you find Peace in your hearts and homes if not in the world. Soon one day there will be Peace in the world.

My only regret after joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints was not moving to Utah and trying out for this amazing choir in the early 90s
As a member of the Church that sponsors this wonderful choir, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I can promise you, this is deeper than just emotion. It is the Spirit of God testifying of truth.
I can hardly type due to emotion atm. This choir has always had the ability to move me. Truly inspired. And all volunteer, done from the heart with a contrite spirit.
that particular arrangement was written by the director, Mack Wilberg. Just beautiful. You’re so right when you said “Glorious”. Glory be to God is what comes through this music. You’re also right when you said the technical is so right on… but beyond that (or because of that?) There is an emotional spirit that one feels they are actually touched by God. Your reaction to that music also moves me to feel that same Spirit of God in it. Thank you so much for sharing this.
That would be so cool if someone from the lds church allowed you to practice with them sometime . They have done before with others who are not members of the choir.
As a kid, I wanted to sing with them like you do. I went to a few of their concerts and love every moment. In high school I actually had the opportunity to sing in the same building and that overwhelmed me. In college I sang in a large choir, but things change and my life was so that I had no time to be in that group. I still love to hear them. Because of life,I can no longer sing and can only listen. Music still is my escape. It’s better than reading a book.❤
This is my first time to see one of your videos. You couldn't pick a better subject than the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and this specific song. This is a new arrangement of Oh Holy Night that I have ever heard and it is just stunning. I remember years ago watching the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's Sunday morning broadcast and the music from the choir and orchestra was overwhelming. I have sung in choirs from elementary through college and church and amazed by the power music has. I think about the sound engineers for the Mormon Tabernacle and listening Sunday to Sunday and not be overwhelmed by the sound and how it feeds to soul and swell up inside. I would think they would keep kleenex close by for the tears. Thank you for your post and hope to see more.
The power and love of God is shared when you listen to this Chior. They are all volunteer and do not get payed! You feel the Holy Ghost when you listen to them. ❤
I'm not Mormon anymore but I wouldn't mind seeing their choir again live. Especially hearing songs about Jesus, the most inspiring character in known literature. I wish there was a religion where people would act like him. Oh well, it is what it is.
Glad you loved our beautiful choir. Imagine what all the choirs of heaven will sound like one day... This is how Jesus creates perfection and touches our souls so profoundly ❤❤❤
I had the opportunity to listen to them in person in Mexico City last year, and it was electrifying to be in the presence of their sound. It really brings you tears and it’s hard to describe in words.
I hope you come to salt lake. They would love to have you. They would probably have you sing with them. You are feeling the Holy Ghost. Come hear them on oct 5 and 6th for conference. Love you💕and your sweet reaction.
I’d love to but as I’m in Europe… not that feasible. I don’t have the budget for long travel to the states. I do intend to record a few more tabernacle reactions. I saw some interesting contenders :)
What you hear is more that just the musical dynamics. The choir members sacrifice a lot to sing with that group, and each and every one of them believes in the literal truth of what they are singing. I hope you have the privilege of singing with them sometime.
I would suggest a 4th of July performance or ANY performance where The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square (with the orchestra) sings "The Battle Hymn of The Republic"! I was privileged to hear them sing "The Battle Hymn of The Republic" with the orchestra AND the United State Marine Corps Herald Trumpet Band when Utah celebrated their statehood centennial back in 1996. It is STILL the PINNACLE of musical performances that I've witnessed in my almost 70 years on this planet, and I've seen some AMAZING musical performances! You just can't go wrong with The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square! Bonus: Salt Lake City is BEAUTIFUL!
They were originally known as The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, but changed it to The Tabernacle Choir. Their music brings me to tears, and this version of O Holy Night is amazing. When i lived in Utah, i had the opportunity to watch their practice performances, as well as hear The Spoken Word. I'm so glad you enjoyed this video, and the tears are understandable.
They truly shake the building at times - not a small feat in such a grand space that they perform in. When the choir sings What Shall We give? - one of my favorites - the room was quaking with the build and climax of the song. I still turn the volume up all the way- every time it comes up in my Christmas playlist - to attempt to capture the feeling of such conviction they embodied in the performance. I hope you find an opportunity 14:14 to enjoy the Choir’s live performance someday!
If i could make money singing in choir i would. My favorite place to be. I love harmonizing. Great reaction! I live in Utah. I love going to watch their rehearsals...lol
You should check out the Choir's version of Angels from the Realms of Glory! It is my favorite! I loved your your face light up during the reaction. I do the same.
I was there. That's my favorite Christmas song, too. And my reaction was the same as yours... it was the highlight of the entire season. That sacred song/oratorio (?), must be experienced, not just heard. Thanks for sharing.
I got a chance to finally see the choir about 15 years ago at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. They were like a majestic, perfect sound machine. Carlos Santana likes to tell people that great music actual rearranges the body’s molecular structure, like when you get goosebumps. Well, my experience was like that and more. It actually became a spiritual experience for me. And, I could have sworn there was an angelic concourse directly above the choir. But, even that doesn’t adequately describe it.
I get very emotional when hearing choir! Choir! Choir! Where random folks up to thousands getting turned into a choir especially when over 1500 random people, kids, adults, black, white etc etc sing Hallelujah, maybe you can watch it yourself. It makes me cry everytime ❤
I don't need to imagine being there. I used to live one mile away from that building and would attend on a regular basis. Yes, it is absolutely fascinating to be in that room and hear them singing with the full orchestra. Even better to sing with them during General Conference. Imagine being in a room with 21,000 voices all singing together. Yeah, It's awesome. You might want to consider looking up a Tabernacle Choir Christmas concert.

You can't explain the feelings when you listen to this Carol. There's no other like it in the world
The Holy Spirit touches our hearts when the words ring truthful and clear. It's emotional to all who feel the Spirit.
Don’t stop in the middle of a song like this!
I know… it’s annoying that people react… in a reaction ;)
That was undoubtedly the most beautiful arrangement of o holy night I've ever heard - ever ever ever 😍
@leedshunk Mack Wilberg is a renowned arranger. A genius.
Heavenly Father hugs us thru music. 😉
That would be so cool if someone from the lds church allowed you to practice with them sometime . They have done before with others who are not members of the choir.
Like a hug from Heaven
As a kid, I wanted to sing with them like you do. I went to a few of their concerts and love every moment. In high school I actually had the opportunity to sing in the same building and that overwhelmed me. In college I sang in a large choir, but things change and my life was so that I had no time to be in that group. I still love to hear them. Because of life,I can no longer sing and can only listen. Music still is my escape. It’s better than reading a book.❤
USA President Mr. Ronald Reagan loved the Tabernacle choir. I love their songs
R. Reagan said this choir "is America's CHIOR".
If you ever get a chance to hear them live- take it. You will not believe the volume they can reach- acapella- it will definitely stir your soul❣️
Music has so much power, to promote good or evil feelings and actions. Music seems to speak to the soul! Thank you.
Mack Wilberg is a genius evoking emotions through this choirs music. He's taken them to a higher level.
@@born2tilt_4ever totally agree with you on that. Brother Wilberg is a musical genius.
The Tabernacle Choir RARELY disappoints.
@@joelheath2746 It NEVER disappoints.
@@53shuzzie I choose to not hold the most amazing choir on the planet to such a high standard, after all, we’re only mortal.
Now, you know what heaven feels like all of the time!
The conductor arranges most of the songs. He is extremely talented!!!1
That prolonged low bass at the end ..ugh my heart 😍
May the voice of angels, sing thee to thy rest!
INCOMPARABLE!
You need to attend one of their Christmas concerts.
Music joins us like nothing else because God wnats us to love each other.
Thank you for sharing your feelings with us. Merry Christmas to you and yours. ❤
That feeling is the Spirit of God.
I’ve had the privilege to hear them in person. It’s so much more impressive to be there!
The Holy Spirit just touched my ♥. Wonderful celestial music
This was dad’s favorite Christmas carol. He died last January after being in the hospital during Christmas.
God rest his soul 💗
Thank you so much for playing these peaces from the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square. I love them so much and I'm thrilled that you do too.
Amen bro...I know exactly how you feel.
Sanctifying to the bone.
Yes indeed
I FELT that...iamurs..."sanctified to the bone! yes, indeed!
My reaction every time is being overwhelmed and my heart and soul get emotional at the beauty of the sound.
There is no other like this choir of angelic voices!
Thanks for your raw reaction! And your insights!
My pleasure!!
I love choral music. ❤️ Bring it on. 🎶
My tears of joy are that so many gather to sing and praise our Lord Jesus Christ.
Beautiful reaction, I adore your genuine-ness. I LOVE this, no grand standing from the singers or musicians, just a mass of sheer beauty!
I think you should listen to The Tabernacle choir with Sissel singing “Slow Down”. Breathtakingly beautiful!
Oh! I love Sissel!
You can attend their Thursday night practices, they’ve even let guest singers join them from time to time.
This choir always lifts my soul to a happier place
The Kingdom of God is on the earth
I love to hear them sing the "Hallelujah Chorus"! Brings me to tears every time! 🙏
What Beautiful Spiritual heart Felt emotions . It makes it that much more beautiful when Spirit touches Spirit.
