    An almost extraordinary talent - no weaknesses, never!" was how Ivan Galamian, the great violin pedagogue, described his former student Michael Rabin, five years after Rabin's untimely death at age 35. For a whole generation of American violin lovers, Michael Rabin represented the ‘’nec plus ultra’’ of fiddle playing, a young, vital American with a brilliant technique and a deeply felt passion for the music he performed.

    Completely infatuated, listening to Paganini: 24 Caprices played by Virtuoso Michael Rabin. What a talent! How unfortunate to lose his life so young. His recordings live and will bring happiness to generations of music lovers. Thank you for uploading.

    I had read that Paganini was a violin virtuoso but despite this information I am enjoying his music for the first time! Before listening to this recording my thinking was 'anything goes' but after hearing out the presentation my impression is that Paganini music cannot be ignored and I will definitely listen to his other music.Thanks for the upload.

    Los conozco de hace años y son impresionantes por dos cosas. Que junto con una perfecta técnica hay una musicalidad total. Su sonido es aterciopelado y fresco. Una maravilla y una pena enorme...

    Brilliantly played, good recording good clear sound quality. Rains interpretation is different from all the other violinists I have heard... Probably this is close to what Paganini played... Unfortunately there are no recording of Paganini playing his Caprices..

    Paganini: he played with three strings when one broke; he played blindfolded; he played with the violin behind his back; he was the inspiration for Liszt, and hence for the 'music of the future.' Difficult to think of any who equal him as a violinist, although Rabin comes close!

    masterful playing, of course, but #1 would sound better with richochet instead of staying on the string.

    I love my recording played by 'Ricci' (Japan release). The second recording he made, ... also a great recording for sure, and played by an Italian. Kovakos has made THE best recording ever.

    • @rolfschulte4747
      @rolfschulte4747 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed - Ricci has the Belcanto style down : Rabin sometimes makes the music sound sentimental, as though it was written by a Russian or Eastern European composer - if not to say "schmaltzy"...(a problem Paul Zukovsky in his equally violinistically recording does not avoid...)

      Hi Dick, the original recording has a reverb. I can assure you of one thing, among the reference recordings currently available, you will not find any with a violin as close to your ears as the one we offer here.

    played riskily and on the verge of sounding downright ugly at times i prefer his version to the more elegant perlman. shame rabin deteriorated quickly and died so young.
    check out his wienawsky and paganini.
