The reason Itzhak Perlman always looks so happy in these videos: he loves violin music, and he gets to listen to (one of?) the world's best violinist(s) play it literally right next to his ear.
he is best in all respects.best musician.best character. best love for all. he is happy from inside and outside. humility gratitude. so many good topics about him one can continue. but country where im now very late
he is happy by giving to others. without him i can see notation instrument some place . and he make us see music and bring peace to heart

Classical music can illicit profound wisdom and insight...stimulating years and memories long faded into the deep recesses of the brain, the heart and soul....often laughter, happiness, and sadly many other emotions incurred by loss.
What a memory box our friend here must have, no musical notations are neccessery, it goes on from the opening notes to the end. True artisanship! God bless each and every one if you!
He is gone. He goes into the music, body and soul. His glassy eyes, his facial expressions, every inch of his body is into the music. This is a best example of “Natural High”….
It was indeed a great performance, but you could sometimes see Perlman's concern about the orchestra.
Wonderful to see God's creation in action, could Darwin priduce one monkey as inteligent to put two and two together and than say; they are four? There is no such a thing like evolution, it is a confusion of the human mind, void of sound judgement! God is still supreme, if some of you don't like it, you can lump it! Without art, and particularly Music, there would have not been an industrial revolution! Art, such as the above, helped the human mind to concentrate on 'one thing', thereby polishing the intellect of man's mind to higher achievements!
He gets into the music just like Yoyo Ma does with his cello.

In my 15 years in Korea I was amazed by the multitude of great music schools there and what wonderful singers and musicians Koreans are. It's amazing how Perlman plays everything with closed eyes. Every note, every key,every arrangement are into his head.
That's why he's a genius.
Actually, the music flows (probably from the head) through his entire body. The real mystery is ... you don't see it happening. It's like his entire organism (plus his soul) is doing the work. Amazing!

in an interview he said " for a violinst to pass the the age of 40 and not having disaster in life is a "bloody miracle" " referring to two young players died in drug overdose and accident. for Perlman, his marriage and family played an important part in his success 🗽🗽🗽
Perlman has been around for so long, we sometimes take him for granted, I do anyhow. But then when I listen to these old concerts of his as a very young man, I'm once again left speechless. My God was he unbelievable in his prime.

I think you'd have to be dead not to appreciate Itzhak Perlman's genius and talent - a remarkable gift - & obviously one he loves and worked hard to attain. Thank God such beauty is now very accessible to us due to technology - and may He richly bless and keep Itzhak playing for years to come.

I remember a remark by Perlman...
"It's easy for pianists to interpret music, as a violinist you are just desperately hoping to get to the end of the piece without sounding terrible".
I understand what he means by it, but I don't think that's entirely correct. Nonetheless Perlman is my favourite violinist.

As a pianist, its not true. As soon as we play a note it starts dying away.. we have to work hard to make a nice phrase!

It is such a pleasure to be alive, and to have experienced this level of musicianship and artistry. I was actually privileged to hear Lawrence Foster conduct the Houston symphony, Sibelius violin concerto, with Perlman as soloist 1977. It was a two night, sold out event...I went both nights. First night I was 5th row center, second night I went to the balcony to hear the difference. It was a stunning performance....simul-cast by KLEF radio....which I recorded...and still own. The difference between Perlman and the last couple generations of violinists is, he approaches the audience with the attitude, "I want to tell you a beautiful story, which I love". The others are "Watch how fast I can play, watch me stray from the score because you don't realize I'm just on an ego trip". Perlman is class....A-Z.

people dont apreciate how much of a virtuoso he was. he practiced three hours a day when almost every other violinist practiced 5 or more and he was still one if not the best violinist of his era
in perlman's master class he mentioned the importance of resting and practicing less but more efficient, he's also a compassionate teacher apart from his impeccable virtuosity
I have to disagree. Perlman was and is very VERY respected as a musician and an artist. Perlman is often considered better than many of the older legends such as Oistrakh, Milstein or even Heifetz. Even Heifetz was impressed by Perlman when he visited the Julliard school. Perlman also mentioned that he practised around 3 to 4 hours a day, except when there was an upcoming concert, when he'd practise 5 hours a day.
@@dannyboy2267 i think you misunderstood, i know very well how much he was acknowledged, all I'm saying Is people don't recognize that perlman is possibly the most virtuosic violinist of all time, as he practiced less than half the time they did, with greater results

I myself am (more "was", sadly not been playing lately) a drummer, and when I had the opportunity to see some vids made by friends I seemed to be "laughing maniac/exchanging cryptic facial expressions with a bassist" type of guy 😂
Yet nothing tops Vengerov in this "field" - his 2016 rendition of Ravel's Tzigane in Tokyo being really good example 😂

Yes I've seen other performances and I know it's his "trademark" but this one holds special place in my heart because I love Tzigane in general, it's really good rendition of it, and the moment at the end of cadenza when Vengerov gives the clue to the harpist really engraved itself in my mind for some strange reason :P
Of all the music I love, this is, indisputably, my favorite piece of music. I think this is the most beautiful violin concerto ever written, and here (accompanied by the great London Philharmonic orchestra) it is performed by perhaps the greatest violinist alive today. Bravo!

Happy tears. I have to listen to this today too. Ok, during this hard ”The corona age” that we are living now, and want to survive it, hopefully. Then perhaps it is also time to listen to the Bach Easter passions. But instead I also listened on youtube the Chaconne that Itzhak performed during a lunch concert. That performanse also bring happy tears to me, and in some way a hope for a bright future.

This is the best performence of this piece of music I ever heard! How do you make the violin sound so delicate yet so exciting? I am not a professional musician but I know how difficult it is to play legato. Your playing is subtle yet strong without ever screaming the top notes.

I have to agree. I 'grew up' on Oistrakh for the Brahms, but this rendition is just stunning, just perfect for the sweet romanticism of Brahms; brings it to life. I also enjoy watching his face. It's funny how the faces in performances often seem to go with the music--not always, but here for sure; also Zimerman and others . .
What a wonderful performance! It's a pleasure to both hear and see Perlman perform. He looks like a man who quite genuinely enjoys what he does for a living. No small thing that. His playing is that of a great master.

Very beautiful violin concerto this man is the best violin player. He put everything he has unto his play. The conductor is an excellent very serious conductor he makes a wonderful job with this concerto. A marvelous violin playing.
The opening notes of the Second Movement (on the oboe) are written on my heart. The familiar motif always transports me to the heart of this concerto. Then, across the threshold, to the great beauty of Perlman on his violin.

I saw Mr. Perlman in recital in the 1980s in Spartanburg SC USA. It was a "community concert series" affair. His performance was excellent and he was without question the most gracious major artist I've ever seen. Instead of presenting himself as the superstar he really was, it was more like an old friend had dropped by your house to have fun making music. By the end of the evening, he had everyone in the palm of his hand.
The cinsrant variable of typical Brahms is astonishing, miles apart from Beethowen, who is very harmonic and symetrical, but Brahms, someone else again! These composers are a delight to our souls, that for sure! Enjoy!! excelent interpretation on the violin! Well done indeed!

..... I had this set in 78 rpm of which I got them in 1952 from an Auction House. I used a gramophone to sound out its lovely tune.
