I absolutely love the detail of Robin being basically like a Mama Bear for Bonney. She didn't let Bonney go for a single minute since they arrived on Elbaf until she went to greet Saul. And Bonney has remained as her true age the entire time. They have a lot in common. Only makes sense they would connect.
to be fair. even Dragon and the revolutionary army had a hard time finding Robin given how the incident of Ohara is what started their revolution. Saul most likely tried but just couldn't find Robin
I'm a 44 years old grown up man, I cried by eyes out reading the chapter and even get tears in my eyes again, while listen to your thoughts. What a beautiful masterpiece of a chapter ❤😭😭❤
The fact that Luffy bypassed the food because he just wanted to see the reunion of Robin and Saul is so heartwarming. All the Straw hats came along also, they were like "Robin is more important" Robin got a family. Another thing, we didn't get Zoro and Jimbei's reaction BUT i'm assuming they are just happy too like Luffy does. We all know, they don't show emotions that much ❤
One moment that stood out to me was luffy's reaction and it makes sense. Now I know there r gonna be some fans who expect him to be more emotional like his crew, but just remember what Robin said 'let's forget about the dark stuff ' this a moment of happiness and it's OK to cry, and luffy not having the same reaction as everyone else doesn't mean he doesn't care, he cares and wants to keep smiling for Robin, to respect both her and Saul's happiness.
With the theory that time moves differently in Elbaf in mind, I'd like to think that Saul got the news that Robin was on the run as a child when the news eventually reached Elbaf. But since he was still healing, he thought that he would go after her when he was fully healed. Then when he was about ready to set out to find her, he got the news that Robin had joined a crew, (and that she was safe with them) which put his mind at ease.
I started losing it when Robin said she would go alone and the whole crew asked to go with her, because I remember how Robin always left alone to do her sidequests in many arcs (Jaya, Skypiea, Fishman Island...) and it really feels like this chapter is closing the door on Robin's lonely past: she survived the Buster Call and carried the will of Ohara on her shoulders for 22 years while the whole world wanted her dead, and now she is back to Saul and to the surviving Ohara books with the promised friends who would protect her. "Praise me" really feels earned here. Yes, Robin, bless you, you did it and now everything is different.
I was originally not a fan of Saul being alive but this reunion was so good and well-written that I've since changed my mind. Also Robin deserves happiness in her life after everything she's gone through.
Yeah I was ambivalent but honestly I'm for it now. Not only are flashbacks characters easier to resurrect because their death is sad but not a shock, we already know when the flashback starts that most of those people (if not all of them) are gonna die so there's no "cheap shock value" effect to killing and resurrecting them, and on top of that there were three characters friendly to Robin that we were invested in in this flashback and two of them are still dead. Add to that the very real effect of their death, dead or not, Robin had to live for 22 years with the assumption that he was dead. That effect isn't cheapened. Sometimes if you find the will to live, unexpectedly good things will happen to you. I loved it.
I really do not get why people did not like it? In the end it makes sense that he survived, also he became such an important character for the story because without him Vegapunk would have not learned about all the things he revealed in his big message. I dislike fake-out deaths like the next guy but this is not even one and it only has benefits.
Everyone other chapter review I listened to this week did not match the tone of the chapter as I hoped to hear and you excelled. Everyone else just seemed dry/monotonous or were comparing trauma to say who had it worse amongst the strawhats. I appreciate the respect you give to Oda’s story
Absolutely love that final page. Luffy, Zoro, and Jimbei watching on smiling while the rest of the crew bawling their eyes out at Robin and Saul's reunion. What a chapter Oda-sensei! Did not expect to dive further into Robin's thoughts during the 22 years and learning of her almost committing suicide as a child or digging through trash for food. I just want to jump into the comic and rescue Child Robin!
Finally someone mentions Ace when Luffy says he wants to thank Saul. I was beginning to think everyone forgot about Ace wanting to give Shanks a proper thank you. I was dreading the end of this chapter with all the positive buildup but now I realize it was just Oda fucking with us. At least, I hope it is. Future chapters exist, future chapters can still hurt you. I'm watching you Oda
Looking at the "Svalr" Mist ship flying in the sky on island clouds, could this tech be in Shanks' ship? Would explain how he can travel the world so quickly. And why the ship looks so Viking-esque.
Because all of the other comments will most likely (and RIGHTFULLY) be about Robin or Saul, I'll just mention that I'm glad I wasn't the only one that thought Luffy/Saul/Robin was similar to Ace/Shanks/Luffy. Inherited will is one way to look at it, but I personally think Luffy learned a lot from Ace there in that this is what you do with people you love. It was great to see. I didn't even connect that he held off on eating to do this. That's huge lol
I absolutely loved this chapter seeing Robin being able to reunite with a loved one she thought she lost was so heartwarming. Another thing I really love about this chapter was that it expands on the reason why she is called the demon child. We as the readers assumed it was because she can read the ponoglyphs but in reality, it was due to the fact that the WG pined the blame for the deaths of her people on her.
When Robin started smiling at Saul being face down...I knew where this was going and I just wasn't ready lol There really was no better way to break the ice.
I think the matter of Saul not having found Robin is simply a case of Occam's Razor. How exactly would he go about finding her? He probably couldn't begin his search weeks, if not months, after getting away from Ohara. By that point, the only information he'd have would be that she's somewhere in West Blue, but with the understanding that she could have stowed away and made it other waters. That's a pretty wide net. Furthermore, Saul is no longer a marine, so he wouldn't have access to the Marine's information network, so all the tips on Robin's whereabouts would be beyond his reach. Finally, Robin would attempt to lay low, either keeping herself hidden or veiling herself behind various pirate crews and organizations (something that I believe was confirmed back in Enies Lobby as being her tactic for evading capture). So realistically, Saul really had no reasonable way of finding her, and once he'd seen her being alive after the events of Enies Lobby, Saul would know that Robin has found her people, and that she's moving forward in the Grand Line; thus the likelihood of them meeting up in the New World, as part of her journey, goes up considerably. There's no longer a need for him to search for her. I think it really is a simple matter.
Robin is one of the strongest characters, never giving up and living is such a dark world. I cry so hard seen them reunión again. Also I see Gerd point of view where yea big mom did terrible things but as a childhood friend you just can't hate them
Ever since last arc, we've been waiting on this. Thank you, Oda. Now, take an actual break week, you absolute legend. (Seriously, I don't want to hear anything about him being in Capetown.) This who chapter is going to be so much more heartbreaking watching the animation, especially if the speculation about Toei One Piece becoming seasonal is true. Imagine this without pacing issues. WHEW! PS: That top is so cute! It looks so cozy. I want a pink one!
🥺 As we got Robin-Saul reunion in the manga, we gotta say goodbye to Franky's anime VA who announced his retirement. we're being destroyed from both fences. 😢 i pray for the well-being of everyone involved in this SUUUPER serialization.🌟🤖
Do you think that was a giant hiking bear back in the village? Gerd was in Big Mom's backstory. If Big Mom comes back we need Gerd and Tama around to keep Linlin in line.
I don't know why it didn't occur to me before, but of bloody course they blamed the sinking of the evacuation ship on Robin. Perfect excuse to give her a high bounty.
0:38 I think you mean Spandine, Spandam's dad when he was still in CP9's chief position and the same guy that summoned the Buster Call in the first place.
Read this yesterday, cried twice, started reading the new stormlight book, cried about 4 times. I'm actually exhausted a bit. What a fucking chapter, I wasnt expecting this to happen already
I’m about halfway through the first stormlight book, already soooo invested! I can’t wait to catch up :) I don’t think I could handle more crying though after reading one piece this week
I swear, Robin chapers are the only ones that can get me, for some reason. This chapter was ROUGH on the emotions. About the "If you stay on Elbaf too long, you can't leave" - isn't the existence of Giant Pirates goes against that idea? They grew up on Elbaf, so that's definitely enough time for them to be trapped if that's the case, especially considering how long it takes for the giants to age
I’m think of it as only applying to outsiders Almost like the idea of you eat food from the fairy world you become stuck there but that rule doesn’t apply to the locals 🤷♀️ But I can’t see Oda denying the straw hats food, that being said I don’t know if we specifically seen shanks drinking at the bar or was he just hanging out lol My guess is something to do with time, either time moves slower on Elbaf, or if you stay to long you acclimate to the environment and can’t take the outside environment any more (could explain Lilith drawing attention to the unique environment)
I'm wondering, do you think Saul being alive is considered "bad writing"? Honestly, I was never too fond of the idea at first but Oda somewhat made it make sense.
Not for this one, It makes sense given Kuzan was the one to freeze him and his motivations are unclear. He could have tried to kill him and failed or purposefully let him live For Saul, being alive works For Pell, kin’emon, and a few others… yeah I’m not a fan of Oda not killing them off
@@booksandtropes But think how traumatic that would be for Luffy and Robin. It would be a bigger crack in the crew than Usopp's departure. Luffy would have to rebuild trust with his crew and fully mature into his role as captain and later Pirate King.
I absolutely love the detail of Robin being basically like a Mama Bear for Bonney.

One minute in, you can already tell that this is going to be an iconic review.
The fact that Luffy bypassed the food because he just wanted to see the reunion of Robin and Saul is so heartwarming. All the Straw hats came along also, they were like "Robin is more important"
Robin got a family. Another thing, we didn't get Zoro and Jimbei's reaction BUT i'm assuming they are just happy too like Luffy does. We all know, they don't show emotions that much ❤

Luffy could sense Robin's happiness and relief. That was all he needed to smile in that moment 😊
This makes sense :)
The fact that Robin now joins Sanji as the other Straw Hat with an additional backstory that is just as painful as their first.
I will cry during this review, its ok we will cry with you. That Robin Saul reunion was soooo wholesome and heart warming, brilliant chapter😭😭😭
Absolutely love that final page.

‘Future chapters can still hurt you’ is so ominous/threatening but true haha
Looking at the "Svalr" Mist ship flying in the sky on island clouds, could this tech be in Shanks' ship?
Would explain how he can travel the world so quickly. And why the ship looks so Viking-esque.
That’s a good idea 🤔
I doubt it, didn't Lilith say it's perfect for elbaphs climate? That'd imply it isn't so great in other areas
@@MayMoment_ I’m still hoping shanks travels via underwater currents like we seen heading to fishman island :)

Just last year...we were emotional wrecks over Bonney and Kuma's tearful reunion m
Dope content
This chapter means something to me. Im all for the hype moments but these emotional moments just hit on a different level.
i cried reading this early morning 4 am...i was crying with a huge smile on my face....am so happy for robin
First time i cried over the manga.
Thanks Oda.❤️
Saul the Ice Breaker !!!!! the goat
that "fake out" was so great, and so well earned :D

This adds more context to how hard Robin was when we first met her.
My thoughts from start to finish
Girl I love you
A true banger of a chapter.
such a heartfelt reunion
Saul should’ve gotten Life Alert
😂😂😂
The title of this video 😂😂😂. Yeah, this chapter starts with tears of sadness and ends with tears of great joy. Also, Oda loves trolling us lol
Do you think that was a giant hiking bear back in the village?
Gerd was in Big Mom's backstory. If Big Mom comes back we need Gerd and Tama around to keep Linlin in line.
Honestly I can’t get the midsommar vibe out of my head, i really hope that’s not what the bear represents 😂
I’d love a Gerd and Linlin reunion :)

It'Saul Good, man.
I want to see more moments with saul and robin in elbaf
Robin's smile is the real One Piece
It's just so peak😭!
i did cry, no shame.
ROBIN DESERVED THAT 😭😭 I'M NOT CRYING, YOU ARE. OK MAYBE I'M CRYING A LITTLE BIT TOO. CAN YOU BLAME ME?
Peak Peak Peak chapter
0:38 I think you mean Spandine, Spandam's dad when he was still in CP9's chief position and the same guy that summoned the Buster Call in the first place.

I feel like the guy carrying the baby and saying he will not rest whilst Robin is alive is Nami's dad or a relative of hers
3:23 if we dont accept storys like this in fiction, why do we defend the same actions in rL?
Robin got the energy Sugar deserved.lol
Wdym Random marine! It's Spandau, Spandam's dad!
7:25 also, people of Elbaf, not Ohara :P
Saul doesn't have a Robin Log Pose. It's a planet how the hell was he supposed to find one girl in the world who for most of her life was in hiding?

That marine was the lead marine that rounded up the Ohara researchers if I'm remembering correctly, so we already know he's scum
Chapter of the year. I don't care it's still not 2025
Agreed :)
It's crazy to think that pirates are not bad BUT some marines are. And some civillians, just because they are scared of an 8 year old child Nico Robin
Is Saul the man marked by flames?
Interesting!
Better Hope Loki doesn't end up Breaking Bad
