Merphy in Japanese the shaggy guy is called mosa not shaggy that's just a translation which i think is wrong i think he's just called mosa and he's a new character probably
Mosa like shaggy refers to something hairy so it’s a good translation At least that’s what sandman says and he’s known for clearing up translations between Japanese and English
Loki looked so kind in Chiffon's flashback that i think he is a softer little brother to Hajrudin's tougher older brother. He might think this is the reason he got rejected since Big Mom wants an army and blame his dad for being a soft king. But even so, he might not have killed his dad. I think Rat-Haired Skanks here killed King Harold to steal the fruit but Loki ate the fruit out of stupidity (just like Luffy) because he thought it was his good friend Shank's fruit. When the giants discover this, they accuse him for the murder and (Shanks who probably had an alibi) help take him down so that's why Loki think Shanks is a coward that tricked him.
IMO Saul felt the best because of how removed we were from Water 7. Egghead just happened, and it feels a little soon to stop mourning Vegapunk and Kuma. It feels more like Pell, than Saul. “All books” is a pretty sus. I’d believe it more if they got 5% of what Ohara had, and that would still be a lot, and they’d been working tirelessly to restore what had been lost to the buster call.
Trying not to be reactionary over concepts is healthy.. Vegapunk one was the one that startled me..but explained well enough..Kuma feels like a setup for epilogue.
Kuma's memories were gone a long time. He was basically just acting on primal instinct to protect his daughter. Him being brought to Elbaf should have been just a burial thing like for Ace/WB. The books and Saul getting out makes no sense. Like how did he even get off the island, why did the marines who came to check not do anything. And MF was able to save ALL the books? Bruh. Vegapunk thing is whatever. He was halfway brought back because his brain survived, but at least it was like a secret thing. Now his EXACT PERFECT REPLICA is gonna be running around just fine. Bruh.
One Piss never beating the Mickey allegations. Story for kids that looks like it was drawn by one all the way since the time skip, you love to hate it.
I love the color spread honoring Kazuki Yao. I’m going to save the brave thing: Ripley is hotter than Gerd. With Kuma, I think he will be a person again, but maybe he will be a blank slate with no memories. And I think it'll be in the background, so we won't see them as much. It doesn't really bother me. Also, Kuma and Bonney have endured so much pain that knowing they nebulously got a happy ending is enough for me. I really like that we are seeing a nation going through a giant cultural shift with a seemingly massive generational divide because we haven't seen that yet. We've seen nations with warring factions or a dark underbelly, but never one going through a cultural change like this. Also, until we get his name, that will be Second Shanks because we've had First Shanks, but what about Second Shanks?
I think it’d be satisfying for there to be a huge time skip for when Kuma comes back. Like by the time Kuma comes back Bonney is actually an adult and he’s missed her childhood. They still get a happy ending but idk… SOMETHING has to be sacrificed lol.
Personally I don’t think Stella coming back is that bad, since Lilith said it would take a long time so we might not even see it during the story. Also Ohara through all of the books in a lake, that’s why they survived.
Out of left-field theory: I think "Shaggy" is Buggy. It could sound similar if there was vocal distortion on the snail, the traumatic incident could either be the execution of Roger or some unnamed part of Buggy's backstory, and Buggy's rivalry with Shanks could feed into Loki's feelings about Shanks as well.
@@AbhayKarman That's the likely scenario for sure. But it would be funny if Loki messed up names just like Luffy, especially if he ends up being a good guy. Considering Loki calls himself the "Sun God" and has history with Shanks, it would be interesting if Oda were trying to draw parallels between the Luffy and Loki.
Honestly, Loki being characterized as a Tsundere is perfect. I just need the entire B plot surrounding him occuring parallely to Luffy's hijinks and for him to be a wildcard throughout. It should be a good way for Oda to flesh out Elbaph without the SHs being everywhere
If Elbaf is Fable but spelled backwards, is it possible that all or some of the happy moment stuff & whimsical fancy outside of the underworld is possibly some type of magical or devil fruit based illusion or reality manipulation. Maybe it's like a genjutsu from Naruto or a rewrite of reality that grants peoples desires but also allows them a certain level of autonomy . The magic rainbows, Saul, Ohara books, Stella, the progressive giant kids etc. It all seems too convenient & maybe that's why you don't want to stay on Elbaf too long... it's literally dreams come true but in fantasy it's really easy for dreamlands to turn into or at least be connected to nightmarish hellscapes
I'm weird because when I read stories I just accept stuff happening so when the story tells me someone is alive and they have a fake out death im just like "ok there alive now moving on" and I only question it later and honesty I don't have a problem with any of the three that got introduced in the last 2 chapters
I never really get up in arms about the non-death of fictional characters. It’s fantasy. And one piece to me is about the unbridled force of hope and prevailing against hate. I hated (ironic) the death of Ace, tried to take on an Admiral because of a Yo Daddy joke. But it did teach Luffy a lesson, which I like. These non-deaths taught us, Akoji truly is someone we can trust and knowledge is important. Also love can combat the worst sicknesses, I’ve seen it with my mom who died but came back literally to see me grow up. IDK I’m done yapping.
the only reason i expected kuma to come back is like what would oda do with his body i dont think hed draw something like goodbye going merry with the child watching her fathers corpse be delt with so i seen this as inevitable also i jst cant imagine oda as an author would set up a man as a sad sad cyborg then not fix him by the end
Nah, Merph, Kuma's been turned right after he did the Sabaody shenanigans. Remember during the Paramount War when Ivankov tried to make Kuma remember him and he didn't? So, yeah, he's not himself for at least 2 years now.
Those two are part of the Godknights: Chapter 1083 where we see the panel of the Godknights - the one in the middle and the much smaller person next to him on the right (people already theorised how the guy in the middle resembled Shanks). This "Shanks" is probably NOT the Shanks we know, in fact there are several possibilities: -this one here is the guy we saw at the last panel of chapter 1112 and at Mary Geoise -he is the REAL Shanks and the Shanks we know was the clone all along? -he is a twin brother of Shanks? -now something i havent heard before = he is a clone of Figarland Garling (we know that he looks just like Shanks when he was younger from the flashbacks of Kuma). Chapter 907 when "Shanks" came to visit the Gorosei. The Gorosei never once adressed him as "Shanks" during that interaction, it's also the same coat he is wearing. He hinted towards a certain pirate that he wanted to talk about with the Gorosei, everyone thought it was Luffy or Blackbeard but i am sure that he was trying to talk about actual Shanks.
No Merphy Kuma became a cyborg before the time skip it was right before Marineford. He was already a mindless cyborg during marineford. Protecting the sunny was a program he told vegapunk to install before losing consciousness.
I"m guessing that since Nika is such a huge deal for Elbaphians, old prophecies that foretell Nika's eventual return are at least known to the royal family. If my conjecture is correct, I could see Loki's murder of Harold having to do with Harold enacting changes that would see Elbaph in a weakened state, when Nika will need them at their strongest for the coming war.
It’s not even takeout deaths anymore if nobody important dies ever Ace dying is standard shonen big brother stuff, barely a character just a taller cooler main character like itachi and raditz
Kuma was almost a full cyborg during Marineford. Doflamingo taunted Ivankov about him not being human anymore. His last conscious act was to guard the Sunny for 2 years. He would remain a mindless cyborg after that until Egghead when he heard his daughter was in trouble and it snapped him out of his programming.
What bothered me about the Ohara books was that Bonney has the ability to age them back, which could have served as a logical explanation and a way to utilize her character. Instead, we’re left suspending disbelief about all the ink surviving exposure to water without being washed out.
But wouldn’t that mean they’d have to hold on to the destroyed books for like 20 plus years in the hopes that somebody with convenient devil fruit appeared
Logically Vegapunk's revival makes sense but I don't like it. This is the only aspect of one piece I dislike. I am going to ignore it just like other fake deaths to enjoy the story. Other than that this was a great chapter.
Why seems everybody to think that we all know the person Loki talked to ??? IMO its a member of the nobility of Elbaph we havent met yet... Or Riply... (Do as I say not as I do)
So on the “Controversial” aspects of this chapter… -Vegapunk getting a new body: I don’t like it. The Satellites are already him, and they lived. We do t need the old man back, it was already kinda a cop out when all them got new/a new body from the spare parts closet. -Kuma Clone: I’m waiting to see how it’s implemented. If it’s a 1:1 perfect Kuma clone VP conveniently had but didn’t even tell Bonney about when she was trying to kill him? Dumb, I hate it, big L on Oda’s part. If it’s like a new body they’re transferring the cyborg mind over too and it partially brings him back with him ne er having his full memories, but getting to live a new life with the daughter he loves? I can deal with that. Kuma already showed signs of love pushing past his programming, so a “broken” Kuma in a new body is fine by me. I’ll accept the convenience for those two being happy together. -The books being mostly save: well duh guys. It’s not 100% if the books, and they’re definitely not in perfect condition. But Ohara’s scholars died saving the library, so of course a good chunk made it out.
How can it be a fake-out death when Vegapunk technically never died in the first place? Also we knew that Saul was alive already at the start of Egghead.
I think Kuma will be restored but he will not have any actual memories of Bonney and Ginny. But he will be capable of forming a new bond with Bonney and learn about Ginny somehow. Only remnant of the old Kuma will be his instinctual desire to protect Bonney. That would be the best case scenario to his revival. Kuma is actually ego dead to a point, but still capable of forming a new self due to new experiences and newfound freedom.
I think we need to stop looking at "fakout death" and put more focus on the narrative Oda is trying to convey. Immortality was established long ago in the story with the ope ope no mi, and I think we can establish that all vegapunk are essentially immortal within some limitations. For Saul, I turn my head to Kuzan, who let a little girl flee and didn't kill one of his friends even if it meant going against orders. For Kuma, I say just wait and see what's cooking.
The official translation takes too many liberties sometimes. I don't know if "all better" is literal. Maybe the editor/translator wanted a more child-like tone from Bonny.
One Piece is what it is and I wouldn't have it any other way. Everything revealed was set up years, if not decades, ago. Drowning a story in misery and pain doesn't somehow make it better and the skill needed to set up and stay the course on every reveal from Kuma to Saul is anything but cheap. Also I think it won't matter, because there has been a sense of foreboding building up in the background, from the Arnot quote to the arrival of the God's Knights. I don't think much of what was set up is going to happen. The God's Knights are going to wreck everything. It would be perfect, as I don't think anything would be more evil to Luffy than destroying a feast. Also Stabs was probably raised by Garling, so I doubt if he's much on human emotion. It's more likely the shadowy figure wandering through the Underworld talking to Loki. Even if I'm wrong and Kuma and Vegapunk are restored, it's all good. Like everything in One Piece, it's well plotted and thought out years in advance. That's all I want from any story.
It doesn't make sense why would Shanks even flip and become an evil person? Shanks might have a twin brother OR maybe just a brother Like why would Shanks go to Mariejois and talk to the Gorosei. Because we all know, Shanks is a celestial dragon(half maybe) but remember back in Dressrosa, we have a backstory of Doffy where his father wants to become a normal person. And of course, the regular people don't accept Doffy's family because they are Celestial Dragon and they kinda torturing them. Doffy's father Homing realizes that they need to go back in Mariejois BUT the Celestial Dragons refuses. What i'm saying is that, even if Shanks is a celestial dragon(half), he can't easily enter the Mariejois because he is a full on pirate Shanks grew up in Rogers crew and Shanks idolizes Roger so much. The World Government may know that Shanks is a celestial dragon and Sengoku respect him because he is a Figarland BUT he is a PIRATE. Shanks is a YONKO and has his own pirate crew. The Gorosei are not gonna be cooperating with a pirate. I just want a good storyline for Shanks, not just meeting or reuniting with Luffy and then fighting Blackbeard, it would be disappointing if that is all we can get from Shanks Shanks family getting involve in the story is great. The Figarland i should say
I'm typing this not done withe the video yet, but I have a couple questions about Vegapunk's clone and plan. 1) Does this version of Vegapunk have the giant head like he did when he was there last? Because it doesn't look like the box is big enough. 2) We just saw something saying not to linger on Elbaf long. With Vegapunk being so smart, do you think that the reason for this warning was taken into consideration when deciding to make a lab on Elbaf?
I don't mind Kuma beeing restored but why did Vegapunk say to Bonney that it is not possible to restore him but Lillith now says that it is? I don't see a reason for him to lie to her
Damn why oda keep doing that the strawhat dirty he didn't reveal Zoro lineage in Wana no upgrades for Franky in Egghead and now Ussopp gets to Elbaf and they are no longer warriors 😢
I guess this kills any theories of Bonney/Lilith for Strawhats in the future put to rest Lilith making clones of Vegapunk sure is gonna sit well with readers, who's to say people that have died can't be clones anymore lol 👀👀 They're making Loki be this sort of rough around the edges type of person who still has a good heart and he's so in love with her 😭 Seeing the God Knights on Elbaph wasn't on my bingo card maybe they're the antagonist of this arc and not Loki like some thought The theories of Shanks having a twin might be true welcome Spanks/Gildarts The artwork in this chapter was beautiful
I expected Vegapunk, I accepted Saul, but Kuma needs to go. Give him a Merry goodbye like he deserve pls I get what you're saying but i think we already got show of willpower already. I've no doubt Oda can and want to give Kuma a happy ending he deserve but if Kuma comes back it'll just make his sacrifice feel cheap
When someone dies their devil fruit gets reincarnated somewhere. Kuma still has his, so he's still alive. Simple as that IMO. Who am I to question a fruit's judgment?
Behold Shanks’ siblings, Stabs and Shiv.
Cant wait for him to see the Nika form and go "Oi mate, you got a loicense for that transformation?"

Merphy in Japanese the shaggy guy is called mosa not shaggy that's just a translation which i think is wrong i think he's just called mosa and he's a new character probably
Mosa like shaggy refers to something hairy so it’s a good translation
At least that’s what sandman says and he’s known for clearing up translations between Japanese and English
17:41 most real reaction to those last few panels
It’s kind of fascinating that Vegapunk pulled off a form of immortality that outlasted Saturn
The way I understand it is that he is saying that he took all the books that was in that lake even the damaged and burned ones.
I got the feeling that Loki is talking to a woman that he cares for and wants to protect
Shiv, banks, stabs, shaggy, this dudes name needs to meet the hype
With all these fake out deaths... I'm slowly getting an Ace-shaped feeling...
This was the exact way OP operated before the Paramount War.
Bruh.
Last chapter of the year and Oda drops a pretty big bombshell.
The Owl would have the opposite of Bege's fruit power to shrink people and things when they come close to him.
we're going! to the end!!!!
#FreeLoki
That guy Harald was obviously in cahoots with the WG. They even spawn in right in the former throne room.
Heck yeah Merphy!
Okk he's called mosa in Japanese it's not really shaggy that's just a translation
@@AbhayKarman Doesn't mosa generally refer to a great warrior or a man of honor though? That would somewhat fit the outward persona Buggy adopts.
@@AnOtterPaladin i think it's a new character and he isn't really called mosa bcs loki messes up names
@@AnOtterPaladin i think he does have history with shanks as he probably took him out and put the chain on him
Honestly, Loki being characterized as a Tsundere is perfect.
I think the guy Loki is talking to is the giant that saw big mom eating "Selma" back in the day and he was traumatized by it
I'm weird because when I read stories I just accept stuff happening so when the story tells me someone is alive and they have a fake out death im just like "ok there alive now moving on" and I only question it later and honesty I don't have a problem with any of the three that got introduced in the last 2 chapters
Some of us are too invested in the story and have had months to speak about this convo
King Harald is the current King of Norway. I don't know if Oda has taken direct inspiration from him or just the name
Oh no, Elbaf is not an island of warriors, what a bummer for Usopp 🙄🤣
Nah, Merph, Kuma's been turned right after he did the Sabaody shenanigans. Remember during the Paramount War when Ivankov tried to make Kuma remember him and he didn't? So, yeah, he's not himself for at least 2 years now.
Those two are part of the Godknights:
Chapter 1083 where we see the panel of the Godknights - the one in the middle and the much smaller person next to him on the right (people already theorised how the guy in the middle resembled Shanks).
This "Shanks" is probably NOT the Shanks we know, in fact there are several possibilities:
-this one here is the guy we saw at the last panel of chapter 1112 and at Mary Geoise
-he is the REAL Shanks and the Shanks we know was the clone all along?
It's the last panel of 1121 not 1112.
I think "all better" is just a childish way of wording it, not literally all better
No Merphy Kuma became a cyborg before the time skip it was right before Marineford. He was already a mindless cyborg during marineford. Protecting the sunny was a program he told vegapunk to install before losing consciousness.
Shanks' brother prefers to be called Spanks.
If kuma is fully restored like nothing happened it completely ruins egghead
I"m guessing that since Nika is such a huge deal for Elbaphians, old prophecies that foretell Nika's eventual return are at least known to the royal family. If my conjecture is correct, I could see Loki's murder of Harold having to do with Harold enacting changes that would see Elbaph in a weakened state, when Nika will need them at their strongest for the coming war.
honestly i think what im side eyeing the most is Shanks' twin
It’s not even takeout deaths anymore if nobody important dies ever
Ace dying is standard shonen big brother stuff, barely a character just a taller cooler main character like itachi and raditz
Its gonna be wild if all the hate the kuma stuff is getting doesn't matter at all and we find out vegapunk just means fix all his wounds and stuff lol
Shanks missing the back of his head in that thumbnail 😭
Kuma was almost a full cyborg during Marineford. Doflamingo taunted Ivankov about him not being human anymore. His last conscious act was to guard the Sunny for 2 years. He would remain a mindless cyborg after that until Egghead when he heard his daughter was in trouble and it snapped him out of his programming.
no, he was already a mindless cyborg during marineford. Protecting sunny was a program he told vegapunk to install before losing consciousness :(
What bothered me about the Ohara books was that Bonney has the ability to age them back, which could have served as a logical explanation and a way to utilize her character. Instead, we’re left suspending disbelief about all the ink surviving exposure to water without being washed out.
But wouldn’t that mean they’d have to hold on to the destroyed books for like 20 plus years in the hopes that somebody with convenient devil fruit appeared
@@monetfanboy Not for all the books, just for some. My problem is that ALL survived, and we have in-world easy fix to make it believable.
Huh? Then Vegapunk could not have read them 20 years ago and the whole story would fall apart.
Logically Vegapunk's revival makes sense but I don't like it. This is the only aspect of one piece I dislike. I am going to ignore it just like other fake deaths to enjoy the story. Other than that this was a great chapter.
0:43 "She found true friends that will stand up and protect me." Is she quoting someone or embodying Robin in that last moment?
Why seems everybody to think that we all know the person Loki talked to ???
IMO its a member of the nobility of Elbaph we havent met yet... Or Riply... (Do as I say not as I do)
We watched the flip get switched
So on the “Controversial” aspects of this chapter…
-Vegapunk getting a new body: I don’t like it.
I really do not want something bad to happen to saul...but if something bad is brewing. Curse you oda...
How can it be a fake-out death when Vegapunk technically never died in the first place? Also we knew that Saul was alive already at the start of Egghead.
Shanks will help his brother Shaw to get a redemption. Shankshaw redemption. Peak Oda 💥
But San Juan Wolf already has the gigantification fruit.
That's all I want from any story.
i think loki's on the snail with mr. ch868pg3
It doesn't make sense why would Shanks even flip and become an evil person? Shanks might have a twin brother OR maybe just a brother
Like why would Shanks go to Mariejois and talk to the Gorosei. What i'm saying is that, even if Shanks is a celestial dragon(half), he can't easily enter the Mariejois because he is a full on pirate
Shanks grew up in Rogers crew and Shanks idolizes Roger so much. The World Government may know that Shanks is a celestial dragon and Sengoku respect him because he is a Figarland BUT he is a PIRATE. Shanks is a YONKO and has his own pirate crew. The Gorosei are not gonna be cooperating with a pirate. I just want a good storyline for Shanks, not just meeting or reuniting with Luffy and then fighting Blackbeard, it would be disappointing if that is all we can get from Shanks
Shanks family getting involve in the story is great.
With Vegapunk being so smart, do you think that the reason for this warning was taken into consideration when deciding to make a lab on Elbaf?
anybody else notice luffy always seems to find his way to sit in the chest of giant women as a pattern now? lol
Jedi master Sha'Gi?
Last 2024 Merphy one piece chapter thoughts 😢
I'm liking where your minds goes if you get this prediction right I won't call it a spoiler.
Luffy is really good judge of character so I think there's something wrong this assumption of Loki
Ya kinda lost me with shaggy being shanks’ twin as they don’t appear to be one in the same
Like if shaggy said he was on the way then maybe
I guess this kills any theories of Bonney/Lilith for Strawhats in the future put to rest
Lilith making clones of Vegapunk sure is gonna sit well with readers, who's to say people that have died can't be clones anymore lol 👀👀
They're making Loki be this sort of rough around the edges type of person who still has a good heart and he's so in love with her 😭
Seeing the God Knights on Elbaph wasn't on my bingo card maybe they're the antagonist of this arc and not Loki like some thought
The theories of Shanks having a twin might be true welcome Spanks/Gildarts
The artwork in this chapter was beautiful
I expected Vegapunk, I accepted Saul, but Kuma needs to go. Give him a Merry goodbye like he deserve pls
I get what you're saying but i think we already got show of willpower already. I've no doubt Oda can and want to give Kuma a happy ending he deserve but if Kuma comes back it'll just make his sacrifice feel cheap
When do we think Pedro is coming back? And in a cover story or a small panel?
I think Shanks might be a clone
I did not have woke giants on my bingo card oda never disappoints😂
The art is lovely but chopper is as big as this giant kids!
She has thoughts guys
What is Oda cooking?
When someone dies their devil fruit gets reincarnated somewhere. Kuma still has his, so he's still alive. Simple as that IMO. Who am I to question a fruit's judgment?
I mean the whole thing is alive in what sense.
I mean obviously he is physically alive. That does not mean his consciousness wasn't erased.
Is Loki a complex character? And I wonder about those new saint knights from the WG 😱🤔
